3 Months Later...
They were still swapping punches when the conversation began.
"So, wait. Why do you want to bring Mia somewhere special?" Goku asks, as he blocks an incoming fist.
"Because I have something special planned for us." Frieza says, as he ducks an incoming kick.
"Really? What's that?" The saiyan asks, as he deflects a roundhouse kick.
"As I stated, it's a surprise." The former tyrant repeated.
"Awww, you're not even going to let us in on it?" Goku slightly whines.
Frieza rolls his eyes, right before he delivers a swift back spin kick that Goku barely missed. The tyrant was about to say something but stopped short and ducked right as another opponent came up behind him and sent a front kick aimed at the back of his head. They missed and went over him instead, before stopping short and turning around to face him.
"Are you finally leaving?" Vegeta retorts.
"Sorry, sad to say that's not it." Frieza rebuked.
"C'mon, man. Don't leave us in suspense here. Give us something." Goku urges.
The former Emperor knows that the saiyan will most likely relent if he doesn't spill some info. But he was also hesitant for other reasons.
"I don't think it's good to share anything with you because we all know you can't keep your big mouth shut." Frieza told Goku.
Vegeta smirked, because he knows there was a lot of truth to that. Goku was not very good at keeping secrets or being discreet. Frieza's response only made him groan more.
"Just one teensy tiny little thing?" Goku emphasized by putting his pointer finger and thumb together to make a small gesture.
The saiyan prince snorted.
"You may as well tell him at this point. Otherwise, he will never shut the hell up about it. And it's really starting to annoy me." Vegeta grunted.
In truth, it was starting to annoy Frieza as well. So, he figures he may as well share. It's not like Mia will be seeing the saiyans before he can surprise her. Unless they follow him back to his house and spill to her. Though he doubts they will do that. Well, Vegeta won't. But Goku...one never knows with him.
Frieza sighs and runs a hand over the back of his head.
"Fine, if you must know, I wanted to bring her somewhere special because...I believe Earthlings call it proposing." He finally admitted.
It was rather awkward of him to finally tell them. He hopes they don't end up teasing him or laughing at him. Instead Goku gasps in surprise and even though Vegeta still for the most part maintained his trademark scowl, he too was quite surprised.
It took a moment for it to finally click for the orange clad saiyan. But when it did, he was shocked.
"Wwwhhhhhaaaaaatttttttt!?" Goku draws out.
Vegeta started to chuckle once he got over his initial surprise.
"Never thought I'd see the day the almighty Emperor would entertain such a concept. But it's nonetheless amusing." The saiyan prince stated.
"Yes, unfortunately I can only imagine being the butt of your jokes for the foreseeable future now that it's out. But I will pummel you two if you so much as utter a word about it to Mia." Frieza threatened.
"Hey, don't sweat it! Your secret's safe with us!" Goku says, gleefully.
Of course, both Frieza and Vegeta just give him skeptical looks. Neither of them fully believes the cheery saiyan.
"You'll forgive me if I don't completely believe that." Frieza says.
"No, really. I won't say anything to her. Heck, I won't even say anything to ChiChi." Goku replies.
"That can only be believable to the extent that you're hardly ever home because you spend more time away training than at your house." Vegeta quips sarcastically.
Goku rubs the back of his head with an awkward chuckle.
"Yeah, you kind of got me there." He says, between chuckles.
Frieza lightly shakes his head.
"I can believe that. Anyways, as I stated before, I'm trying to think of a good place and time to tell her. Either of you have any suggestions?" The former Emperor inquires.
Goku scratches his head in thought. While Vegeta continues to stand there with his arms crossed. After a few moments, Goku snaps his fingers.
"I have an idea. There is an event coming up at Hidecki's Steak House where they will be having an All You can Eat Buffet for the entire day. I believe it's happening next Friday. You should take her and Liana there. Then when they bring out all of her favorite foods, you can propose." He says, likes it's the best idea ever.
Vegeta just grunts and mumbles 'Idiot' under his breath. While Frieza openly gawks at the saiyan.
"Umm, thank you. But I think I'll pass on that one. I'm sorry, but it doesn't sound ideal. Plus, I don't want that kind of attention from a large crowd of strangers. I was thinking something a little more private." The former tyrant said.
"I think the best thing to go by is what you believe she will like. As I recall, she stated a couple times that she is a big outdoors person. Maybe take her to one of your favorite spots?" Vegeta offered.
Frieza rubbed his chin in thought. That actually was not a bad idea. He knew Mia loved being outside. He also knew some of her favorite go-to spots as well. There were plenty of occasions where they as a family went out on many walks since coming to Earth nearly a year ago. That's when an idea popped into his head and a small smile lights up his features.
"That was actually a very good suggestion. I think I will go with that. I already have at least a couple places in mind that are her known favorites. So, thank you." Frieza says.
Vegeta doesn't reply back. Just grunts and looks away. While Goku was still standing beside him, grinning like a fool.
"Cool! Which places?" Goku asks.
"Sorry, that was all the information I was willing to share." Frieza replied.
Luckily, they weren't met with a whine of protest this time around from the saiyan. Much to Frieza and Vegeta's relief, because they can admit, Goku's whining can get extremely annoying fast.
"Do you at least have an idea on how soon you're going to go through with it?" Vegeta asked.
"I want to say fairly soon. Not too soon though. Because I need to put the plan into motion and time it right. For instance, if it is going to take place outside, I will need to keep tabs on the weather. As far as coming up with something, that won't be difficult. It would be as simple as suggesting going for a walk or suggesting an outing. Which is something that's common for us." Frieza deduced.
"Well, at least it sounds like it's getting easier as you go along. So that's good." Goku said.
"In the meantime, can we go back to training? We've already wasted enough time as it is with all this chatter." Vegeta retorted, getting a little impatient.
Frieza sighs, "Yes, fine. We're finished here with this conversation."
Within moments, the three fighters got back down into their fighting stances and recommenced with their training. The training with them always seemed quite intense. But then they were all superb fighters in their prime.
It has taken a while to build up enough trust to be able to train with the saiyans. Especially, with the saiyan prince in particular. Goku on the other hand, has been more forthcoming about training since the former Emperor came to live here. And though it took quite a bit of time, it was also Goku who helped put everyone else at ease with Frieza taking up residence here.
At the same time, Mia was able to establish a job a month ago and was working part time for Suzuki & Matsui Social Services. And so far, she loves it. She likes the people she works with and the nice schedule that she was able to work around with Frieza's new training schedule.
Mia was also very relieved and happy when Frieza started conversing more with the saiyans and started taking up training with them nearly two months prior. And so far, after many bouts of training, she almost always inquires about their progress. Both in their fighting and in terms of getting along.
And while their training was in fact proving very beneficial for all three warriors, it is and most likely will be a long road to building up what still is a rather rocky alliance. But like Mia keeps telling him, it's progress.
Looks like Frieza, Goku, & Vegeta have finally agreed to training together and have established a routine. Should be interesting how they develops in time. Until Next Time ;)
