Hi there, this chapter is a from a fic I posted a while ago but the premise died on my brain and I've no intention of continuing it in its previous rendition. However, I have instead decided to use it in a different style that I feel is in conjunction with me and the types of stories I write. You guessed it folks, we're doing another alternate team for Jaune! This time I'm going to tell the story of Team ASPR (Aspear) and RYBN (Robin)

Here goes absolutely nothing. Hope you enjoy folks

Disclaimer: Don't own RWBY, love sandboxes though.

Jaune Arc.

Short, Sweet, Rolls of The Tonge, Ladies love it! Well, that's what his dad had told him in the very least. Whether Jaune believed it or not was another matter entirely. The more significant part of Jaune's name wasn't his first name though, it was his last name. Arc's had been heroes of Remnant for as long as the world could remember and perhaps even longer than that. Jaune had been...obsessed with the stories ever since he was a child. Knights in shining armor, fighting horrible monsters, saving the world and standing with honor knowing that they protected the innocent people of Remnant. It was these stories that made Jaune want to inherit the will of his family, want to train to become a Huntsman and eventually see the world, protecting all the people within it. His father had been reluctant at first, but after Jaune had proved his willingness to train, Brock had relented and decided to prepare his son for attending Signal Academy once he was old enough.

Jaune's path to Signal had eventually led him to meeting one Qrow Branwen, a teacher of his at Signal Academy. Oddly, the Professor had taken a liking to Jaune and often gave him extra pointers when it came down to their lessons together. This was a double-edged sword though, because to try and dissuade the idea of any favoritism, Qrow had treated Jaune far more brutally than he had his other students, giving the students the impression that Qrow was just pushing Jaune to a level that he thought he was at. It was this push that saw Jaune's semblance unlocked. Qrow had also helped Jaune design his weapon and ultimately given him the extra push he needed to graduate Signal Academy in the top three of his year.

But, his time at Signal had come to an end and now he was finally preparing to undertake the final journey, the journey that he'd been looking forward to taking his entire life. He was packing today to begin his journey toward Beacon Academy. His final stop before he arrived at his dream of becoming a Huntsman. Jaune looked over at the onesie hanging from the door knob of his closet. He approached it and wrapped his fingers around the fabric. A look toward the opened suitcase on his bed and a second of hesitation later, Jaune tossed it back into his wardrobe. Sure, the onesie was comfortable and his sister's had gotten it for him as a joke a birthday ago, but he was entering a different world now, a world where an outfit like that was akin to social suicide. Instead, Jaune collected a simple pair of flannelette trousers and a black sleeveless shirt which he felt would be more suitable and tossed them into the suitcase.

"Finished," he said confidently.

Jaune then took a final look in the mirror at the outfit he'd chosen to wear today. His combat gear to be more specific. The jeans he'd chosen were of a durable material, yet held the lightness needed for a lot of manoeverability, these specialist jeans were the same kind that his father had worn during his days as a Huntsman and since Jaune had lived in jeans right from the time he was small, Brock had suggested that his son carried on the tradition. Next was a pair of black combat boots, simple in design, but equipped with steel caps for obvious reasons. The jeans were held up by three brown belts, the first sitting through the loops of the jeans and the other two going down right diagonally from Jaune's left hip. His torso was covered by a steel chest-plate beneath a dark jacket finished with golden trimmings. Jaune reached back with the fingers poking out of his fingerless glove and stroked the handle of his weapon. The indicated sword was sitting diagonally in its scabbard, reminiscent of the teacher at Signal Jaune idolized so much.

"I'm going to make you all proud."

Jaune was so focused on the image in the mirror that he didn't notice his father stick his head into the open doorframe, the elder Arc smile over at his son. He'd missed his son's declaration that he was going to make them all proud but even though he hadn't heard it, Brock knew that his son would fulfill his destiny, he knew that he was a young man that was already and would continue to prove his worth to both himself and the Arc name.

"I can't believe how fast the years have gone by," he said thoughtfully, "I can still remember you trying to lift Crocea Mors on your own for the first time. Are you sure you don't want to take it with you?"

"I have Storm Edge, dad," Jaune said softly, still trying to fix his collar in the mirror, "besides, if I take Crocea Mors, then what are you going to use? I want to be an Arc worthy of the name I carry, but I can't do it using a weapon that doesn't belong to me. Besides, Crocea Mors doesn't respond to me in the same way that it does to you. I don't say that to make it sound like I'm being disrespectful to our history, but I want to prove myself worthy of the Arc name, not by the name of the weapon I carry, but the justice I carry out in the name of those who can't do it themselves."

The conviction in his son's words had reminded him of the way that his father had passed Crocea Mors onto him when he reached the age where he was ready to attend Beacon Academy. As much as Brock wished that his son wanted to take the family sword with him, he also recognized that, not only did his son have his own weapon already, but he was also his own man and Brock had to let him make his own decisions. He nodded once and then smiled to himself as he heard another nervous breath leaving his son's breath.

"Are you ready to go?"

"I don't exactly feel it, but I think that's the nerves talking."

Brock chuckled at his son's answer, that right there convincing him that, no matter what his son said that he was ready. People who tended to think they weren't ready for a big change were the exact type of people that were ready for it. Jaune turned back to Brock and smiled, "Even if I'm not ready, I'm going to do my best, dad."

"And I have no doubt that you're going to do your best in making all of us proud. Your grandfather and grandmother included. They tried to make it today, but your grandfather wasn't feeling much up for traveling, though they both send their regards and wish you all the best for Beacon."

Jaune nodded, slowly walking toward his father, "Can you tell them both I said thank you? And that I send love and well-wishes?"

"Of course, now isn't there something you're forgetting before you grab that suitcase?" Brock's question was left hanging, but he extended a fist toward his son who gave his answer in the form of hitting his knuckles' against his father's.

"You know I'd never forget that one, old man."

Brock laughed openly and reached up to ruffle his son's hair, "Well then, you go down and say goodbye to your sisters and mother, let me deal with the luggage."

"You sure, dad? I can give you a hand if you want."

"Nonsense, go on, off with you."

Jaune nodded, the smile still holding on his face as he turned away from his father and pushed his way out of his bedroom. Once Jaune was outside, he stepped into the hallway beyond his bedroom, which was much of what one might expect for a common home, greyed carpets and a white-walling with several photographs lining the walls. Jaune walked down the narrow pathway and turned tot he stairwell that would lead him to the lower floor of the house in which the Arc family lived. He descended the stairs and moved out into the open area, where his mother was already preparing lunch for the various people in the house. Jaune looked in the other direction and was immediately smashed into by a small pellet of energy that collided with him and snuggled into his middle aggressively.

"J-Jade, can't breathe, sis."

"I don't want big brother to go away!" she cried, practically making a demanding sound in each of the words she spoke, "Big brother has to stay here and play forever!"

Jaune knew this was coming. He'd been anticipating it for the past few days. Of his seven sisters, Jade was the youngest and felt herself incredibly close to him. She had been the less enthusiastic to hear that Jaune was leaving her to attend Beacon and Jaune had tried to put off talking about it, but now it was crunch time and he was going to have to handle this delicately or risk everything falling apart. He gently eased Jade off him, then knelt down in front of her and held his open hands upon the small girl's shoulder, a look of seriousness on the Knight's face.

"I have to go away and protect the world from all the nasty monsters out there," Jaune explained to her as best he could, she was small so the explanation was probably going to be the most difficult part here, "I'd love to stay and play with you forever, but big brother has to go and play with the monsters for a little while so that they leave you, mommy, daddy and our sisters alone. I have to protect you all."

"But why?" Jade whined.

"Because," Jaune said softly, "That's what a Huntsman does. He protects those around him. Especially the ones he loves and cares about."

"Well, okay," Jade finally relented, folding her arms and pouting adorably at her older brother, "But you have to promise to come back here and play as soon as this Beacon says you can, okay?"

Jaune chuckled, resisting the urge to tell Jade that Beacon was the name of his new school and probably wouldn't be directly telling him anything, unless it was haunted or something. He really hoped that it wasn't. His bad luck wouldn't stretch that far now, would it?

"It's a promise."

"Good," Jade confirmed, then she stepped back to allow her sister's their own chance to say goodbye to their brother. Next Magnolia and Maron who quickly hugged their brother and kissed either of his cheeks in sync then stepped back.

"Make sure you kick everyone's butt, big bro!" Magnolia cried, thumping her fist against her chest confidently, "Show them who's boss!"

"Yeah, what she said!" Maron exclaimed, making a similar pose to the one her older sister had made.

Jaune laughed at this, then ruffled their hair, "And you two make sure you behave yourselves for mom and dad, alright? Don't go making things difficult for them."

Both Magnolia and Maron were the resident trouble-makers of the family, and Jaune had no doubt the moment he walked out the door, the little terrors were going to wreak havoc no matter what he said, but hey, at least no one could say he didn't try to warn them. Next up to say goodbye was Violet, Ivory and Aryle who all hugged their brother and wished him well for the semester ahead. A little older than the other three, they hadn't been so mischevious though he did note, the ever quiet Aryle seemed especially disappointed that her brother was leaving. The two of them had become incredibly close due to a combined love of video-games and though he was sure she would never admit it, he knew that she was going to miss all the co-op missions they were able to play together.

"You know," Jaune said casually, "Beacon does have Wi-Fi."

Aryle's face lit up immediately and she darted off to go and help her mother prepare lunch. In other words, she shooed Mama Arc from the kitchen so that Joan would have a chance to say goodbye as well.

"You'd better ring me when you get the chance to let me know you've arrived at Beacon safely. Don't fight anyone unless there's a good reason for it and don't go getting yourself into a fight you can't win. I love you and I would like my son to return from his first year of Beacon in a state that's not completely ripped to shreds."

"Thanks, mom," Jaune said sarcastically, submitting to the hug she gave nonetheless, "Love you too."

"And don't forget to get a girlfriend! I'll want grandbabies in a few years!"

"MOM!"

Laughing at the mortified expression on Jaune's face, Joan returned to the Kitchen, once again taking over the lunch preparations from Aryle, though the latter remained in the kitchen so that she could assist her during the process. Jaune sighed some, turning away from that situation, breathing a sigh of relief that he didn't know he was holding. Only one goodbye left, the one he knew was going to be the hardest. The goodbye that Jaune had been dreading since his acceptance letter to Beacon arrived. He was going to have to say goodbye to his best-friend in the entire world.

"Don't look so down, " she said, "You'll see me again, besides this has always been your dream hasn't it? You really going to throw away being the best Huntsman Remnants ever going to see merely because you want to stay here with me?"

Jaune laughed some, he already could feel the heaviness on his heart lift slightly at the words she spoke. He then shook his head, "Not a chance. I've got to follow this through. So many people believe in me and I'm not going to be the person that lets them down."

"Good answer," Saphron Arc stepped forward and wrapped her arms around her brother's shoulders, they held each other like that for a moment, then the two of them stepped back and Saphron ruffled the young man's hair, it was amusing to her considering that a few years ago it was Jaune that had to reach up to her.

"Make me proud, little Knight."

"I will, Saph."

"I know you will, oh and Terra sends her best wishes as well, work's held her back today otherwise she'd be here as well. She tried to take the day off, which, she hopes will be enough to give you a clue that she wanted to be here for you today."

"Her job is important," Jaune said, waving off Saphron's concerns, "Tell her I appreciate the effort and I'll see about coming to visit you guys as soon as I get the chance. It's been a while since the three of us hung out. Also, I'll ring ahead a few days in advance, maybe pick up Jade and anyone else who wants to come along? We live a bit further out than you and Terra do, so it might be easier."

"That's a good idea, big brother!" Jade exclaimed. Sure, she was too young too quite understand but she'd heard her name, being picked up and hanging out with her brother in the same sentence so it didn't take too long for the youngest Arc to become excited again. Jaune looked up just in time to see his father poking his head through the front door, having returned from the car.

"Well, son, everythings packed into the car, said your goodbyes yet?"

"Yeah, dad, I have."

"Alright then, Jaune. We'd best be getting a move on then. You don't want to miss the airship on your first day."

Jaune nodded, but didn't vocalize the next part of his answer. He felt a small weight in his chest at leaving all of his sisters behind, knowing this was a part of the journey he was taking to become a Huntsman made it a little easier, but he'd never been away from them for so long before and he could already tell it was going to take some getting used to. He took one final breath and raised a hand to those present in the room, "Goodbye," he said quietly, then followed his father out to the car.

The journey to the docks hadn't taken all that long and by the end of it, Jaune was surprised by the fact the trip was over so quickly, surprised by the fact that his future was speeding toward him so quickly. Time had not slowed down for him, no matter how much he desperately wished that it would. Well, he didn't have time-travel as a semblance, that would be way too weird, even by his standards. Given what his semblance was, he understood crazy, but time-travel was a bit too next-level for his tastes. Pushing the idle thoughts from his mind, Jaune climbed out of the passenger seat of the car and headed to the trunk along with his father and together they were able to slide Jaune's belongings onto a hover-trolley and direct it into the area where several attendants were loading up the bull-head.

At the landing platform, Jaune and his father exchanged both a final fist-bump and nod then Jaune turned on heel and ascended into the airship, ready to make his departure for Beacon Academy once and for all. Once inside the airship Jaune slowly sauntered through the vessel, attempting to find somewhere that he could sit down. The journey was going to be a fairly long one and according to the screen floating above his head, they still had a bit of a ways to go befoe they reached Beacon, including a stop in one or two more places to pick up more students who were traveling to Beacon today.

Jaune reached into his pocket and removed a small book from inside it. He slipped the pen out from inside the binding and started jotting more notes down against the paper, featured upon the pages were rough sketches of different things pertaining to his combat. Weapon improvements, armor adjustments and even prototypes for what liked dust-grenades with multiple compartments for brutal combinations were present on these pages and it would be very accurate to call it an idea dump of all the Arcs newest and most insane ideas. There was even a rough sketch for the prototype of a dust-powered rocket launcher, but Jaune had already scrawled, 'HELL NO" over it in big letters. Jaune was so busy with his work that he hadn't noticed the Bull - Head leaving the station, nor had he noticed the two stoppages they'd made. It wasn't until he heard an eclamation from somewhere to the side of him that his attention was pulled from the latest thing he was working on, some kind of gauntlet by the looks of things, there was no special attachments or anything like that since he didn't really see the point in making that into a weapon since he had Storm Edge, but with him constantly upgrading his armor designs all the time, even one piece being left behind in the process was unthinkable.

"Ooo! I can't believe my baby sister's going to Beacon with me!"

Jaune's left eye lifted away from the page, turning toward the source of the sound, a blond girl who looked to be around his own age was hugging a girl much shorter than her in such a fashion that Jaune wasn't surprised to see the shorter girl outfitted entirely in red flailing her arms rapidly as if struggling to breathe. The death-grip that was the kind of one that made Jaune wince. His mother often hugged him like that much to his dismay. He recognized the older girl though, and to some extent the younger one too.

Yang Xiao Long was one of the only two students at Signal who'd been able to best him in combat. He could make excuses regarding Yang's semblance being nigh-on impossible to beat, but he wasn't the type to do that. A True huntmsan found ways to overcome everything, even semblances. Jaune had figured out over time that Yang's weakness was that she relied on that semblance too much, but he was yet to find a way of exploiting that in the many matches they'd had during their time at Signal. The shorter girl beside her dressed primarily in red was one Ruby Rose. Signal's very own combat-prodigy and Yang's younger sister. The two of them had exchanged a few conversations in passing but never really anything more than that. During some of the friendlies that Signal hosted over the years he attended, one thing he did note was that every time Ruby and himself were entered in the tournament, somehow the teachers always found a way to make sure that he and Ruby never ever ended up competing against each other in the tournament. How? By always somehow making it so Jaune and Yang fought in the semi-finals, preventing the finals from being a match between the crimson reaper and the yellow edge.

Jaune couldn't quite place it, but he wondered if Qrow and Tai had something to do with that. He hummed to himself and looked back down to the notebook in his hand. He'd made some good progress with the design for his gauntlets, but he would wager that they were getting close to Beacon now and it would probably pay to go back to these later. He closed the book and slipped his pen back into the bindings and returned the entire thing to the pocket on the inside of his jacket.

"Hey, Ladykiller!"

Jaune looked up and gave Yang a lone nod in greeting, "Hello, Yang."

"Aw, c'mon, don't be so down in the dumps! You should be happy to see me! It's always a Yangin' good time with me around, after all!"

"Ugh," Ruby groaned, "Not now Yang! Sorry about her, Jaune and er-Hi!"

Jaune chuckled at this, pushing back in his seat slightly, "Hey there, Rubes, it's fine, Yang just can't handle the fact that my arc is just beginning."

Ruby whined loudly, pulling her hood up over her head and trying desperately, by the looks of things, to make herself disappear on the spot, "Not you too!" the girl whined helplessly.

Another laugh from Jaune, but he shrugged it off a moment later, deciding to turn the conversation toward other topics, "How did Qrow and your dad seem when you left?"

"The usual," Yang said, shrugging her shoulders some, "Qrow thinks we're going to be the most badass Huntresses that Beacon's ever seen since Mom. Sorry, Jaune."

"Key-word," Jaune countered, "Huntresses. Unless you know something about me that even I don't?"

"You tell me, Ladykiller," Yang fired back, not missing one single beat.

An audible groan comes from Ruby again, but the reaper needn't have worried for a moment later, Yang's attention was grabbed by several students standing from their seats and rushing over to the first window that they could find. Jaune himself gently looked over over there and a smile graced his own lips, "Looks like we can see Signal from up here."

"Maybe we're not so far from home after all," Ruby put in.

"Beacon's our home now," Yang told them both.

Jaune's gaze was still in the distance, Yang's words resonating with him more and more the closer they got to Beacon. Everything he'd ever worked for was right there. Everything he had prepared for, was right in front of him. He finally had the chance to show the world what Jaune Arc was capable of and that alone, brought a smile to his face. Finally, Jaune stood from his seat and approached the window, his cerulean orbs gazing out into the world before him.

'Let the tale begin.'
