It was 10 pm, 1½ hours past Jason's bedtime. He wanted to see Superman before he went to sleep. He stared longingly out at the cloud-filled sky watching for any sign that he might be approaching. Soon his eyelids began to droop and he let out a big yawn. As he turned and started walking toward his bed, he felt a slight breeze coming in from the window. Jason whirled around and saw his favorite superhero standing in front of him.

A huge grin came across his face as he ran to him with arms wide and yelled, "Daddy!"

After they hugged, Superman pulled them apart and held Jason by his shoulders. He looked quizzically into Jason's eyes and asked, "Who told you that I was your Dad?"

Jason looked innocently into his dad's eyes, "I heard Mommy talking to you at the hospital while you were sick, Mr. Clark."

"Mr. Clark? I'm not Mr. Clark; I think you're a little confused…"

"No, I'm not," Jason interrupted, proud that he figured something out that no one else apparently has, "you are Mr. Clark, I've known since I first saw you, but I don't get why you need glasses."

Clark was proud of his son being so smart, He's just like his mother in so many ways, he thought. "I have to wear them so the bad people won't know who I am and hurt me and the people I know and love."

"Is that why the bad bald man kidnapped me and Mommy, because you know us?"

"Not only that, but because I love you both and I want you to be safe."

"So can I still see you? Or is it too dangerous?"

"Of course you can still see me, you just have to make sure to call me Clark and not Superman when I'm wearing the glasses and when I'm not wearing them, you have to call me Superman and not Clark, do you understand? We can keep it our little secret, just between the two of us"

"I understand," Jason said sullenly.

"And whenever it's just you and me, you can call me Dad all you want."

"Really? That would be so awesome!" He ran up and hugged him tight around the neck, "I love you Dad!"

Tears came to Clark's eyes before releasing his son and standing up. "I have to go now and go see others who need my help and might be in trouble. I'll come by as often as possible. Promise me you'll be a good boy and listen to your mother."

"I promise!" Jason said, bounding into bed and closed his eyes.

With that, Clark went back out the window and flew out into the night sky.
