Fire was everywhere…burning everything down…She was frantic now. In addition to her bodily pain, now her heart was breaking too. She really didn't care about her childhood house burning down…Most of her valuable possessions were in her bag anyway. She knew Sokka would be fine. He always was. Except for when he was being stupid. Which was most of the time, but when they were in danger, he was always fine. Who she cared about now was him…Ming-Se that is. Her love. Her soul mate… The clench on her heart released slightly, and that pain turned to anger. Why didn't he stay with her, as planned?!?! They were supposed to stay together, verbally and emotionally! But now he was gone…where, Katara didn't know. But she knew, deep down in her heart, that he was gone. But she also knew that they would be reunited, whether it be a month, a year, or 5 years, but she knew it would happen one day.
Katara was only 11, but she wasn't too young at all. She loved him, and knew that he loved her. They were friends from the start…ever since Ming-Se had stopped the village bullies from hurting her. She had loved him ever since. It had been hard for him to forget his past. He was two years her senior, but had lived a much harder life. Abuse and neglect had built up a wall around his heart. At first he was distrusting, like a wounded animal. But Katara slowly made her way into his heart, and eventually he was the one to seek her out. And now he was gone. The clench returned to her heart. While she knew they would soon be together again, she missed him now. And who knew what would happen to them? They had been separated in the rush of people trying to exit the city before the Fire Nation took them all hostage. Ming-Se must have wandered off. She could still feel his hand in her's, his heart beating next to her's.
