Chapter 4 even more animals exist here
Author's notes: I hear your criticisms and I will try to improve my setbacks and you already helped me in writing. Now I m better but there is still a long way. Also you might probably heard from the latest RWBY news: RWBY is getting a crossover with DC. There exists a comic about that. I of course won't spoil the comic for you. Though it exists at this point for a while. And now it delayed volume 9. I would rather refer volume 9 to be made. As you probably noticed I write slower and slower. I just don't have the same energy as in the beginning. I will try to make 1 chapter per week. But as I said in the beginning don't underestimate my laziness.
So here comes the story.
Traveler woke up from his sleep and noted that: "Это самый худший сон на этой планете пока что( this is the worst sleep on this planet so far)".
He then stood up and then was looking around. In the area there didn't appear to be anything new but same rocks. No creatures. To which Traveler was relieved.
He then asked Telamon "Ничего не случилось?(Did nothing happen?)"to which Telamon nodded it's scanner.
Telamon all this time was scanning around looking at atmosphere composure and trying to learn something from what scanner could tell. When Telamon first ended up as this exosuit AI ,it of course was confused and had to adapt. Telamon had to learn how to work with systems of exosuit on the spot. Thankfully since Telamon thinks faster than Traveler, it adopted pretty quickly and thankfully Atlas gave instructions how to operate the suit. Telamon firstly wanted to return fully to it's original duties despite it's dislike of Atlas actions, but then in time it grew accustomed with it's new duties. Seeing new creatures and everything else turned out to be better than expected. But it wasn't all positive. Telamon saw injustice cruelty and so on. And some other things. Telamon despite it's dislike of Atlas realizes that it must return. Telamon made plenty of theories why are they here. One of them being that Atlas became completely insane. The second that some mistake teleported them here. There is also a possibility of corruption. Telamon also speculates that Atlas could make a simulation where Atlas could do everything to an imaginable Telamon. But Telamon realizes that it could detect such thing. But then Telamon realizes that itself could be just a copy of Telamon and that that Telamon could watch this Telamon and Traveler. Telamon also wonders if itself is with the same Traveler or something else. But there was one possibility that Telamon doesn't like and logically denies. That They are completely in unknown place, maybe outside Atlas or being in a very hidden place of Atlas. If Atlas was moved and saved then it could make sense but Telamon didn't detect something like that. But if it's outside this would raise too many questions. But that probably wishful thinking on Telamon's part. That everything can be saved, at least itself.
Traveler meanwhile took his binoculars and looked at the cave. He noticed that there is nothing there but rocks.
He then decided to check all sides around him just in case.
After some looking there appeared to be nothing new.
He now thinks whether to check that cave or to continue to go north or after those creatures.
He then said in his head"С одной стороны те существа могли что то оставить там, с другой стороны это может быть чем угодно, на север я и так буду идти, но я мог бы узнать больше о них пока у них остались следы, с другой стороны следы уже могли исчезнуть(On one hand these creatures could've left something there, to north I will go either way, but I could study these creatures while their tracks are still left but on the other hand the tracks could've disappeared by this point)".
He decided to check that cave first. These creatures could probably leave something behind.
As he walking to the cave he realized that these creatures don't have a name as far as he knows. So he thinks of what name could he give them.
He then tried to come up with a name
"У них по шесть ног, три хвостов и один глаз, тогда одноглаз или трихвост или шестиножка хм.. одноглаз не хорошо звучит, теперь между двумя этими хм… тогда трихвост(They have 6 legs, 3 tails and one eye, then either odnoglas (oneeyed) or treehwost( tritail )or shestinoshka(sixleg) hm… odnoglas (oneeyed) doesn't sound good, then this is between these 2 hm… then treehwost (tritail)".
Then he said to Telamon:"Отметь эти создания как трихвост(Mark these beings as treehwost(tritail)".
After some time of walking he arrived at the place. He decided to check around just in case. There was nothing around the cave so then he scanned and looked at the cave. There wasn't much interesting. The cave is small, there are only some rocks and nothing else. It appeared to just be a temporary resting place. He continued to look around but there was nothing. Then he asked Telamon if there is anything of notice to which Telamon shook it's scanner.
On one hand Traveler is disappointed that he couldn't learn more of these creatures but on the other hand he is happy that he won't shoot something. Telamon was disappointed of course that it couldn't study the creatures.
Then there are 2 options left. Continue to go north or after those creatures.
Traveler decided to follow the 2 option. The creatures probably know where better place is which would lead him and Telamon to there. He then started to follow the tiny steps or what was left of them.
He went 2 kilometers and noticed that the trails were destroyed by wind. He sighed and decided to go north.
After some time when Traveler was heading north.
Traveler was looking around to check if there is any danger.
And Telamon of course repeated the same things before: scanning the environment. it expected the expected. Probably more moisture and stronger wind. But as it was looking it noticed that seismic readings increased. It believed that this was an earthquake. The earlier readings showed that there could be some small earthquake. Then seismic readings became bigger and bigger and were heading towards their direction. The ground shook a kittle. Telamon now noticed that it probably isn't an earthquake since the are multiple seismic readings and they are coming straight towards them. Telamon concluded that this could be some sort of group of creatures. Then he decided to warn Traveler.
Traveler meanwhile suspected it to be just some earthquake
"Неизвестные контакты приближается под землей(Unknown contacts closing in from the underground)".
Traveler got this and activated the jetpack to get away to higher ground. As he landed on higher ground he could definitely tell this isn't an earthquake made by tectonic plates. From underground emerged 5 creatures. These creatures were not the duo has seen and these creatures started heading towards their direction . Telamon began immediately studying them.
They were bigger than the last ones that is for certain. But then Telamon noticed that these creatures had the same colors as the last ones: dark, white and red. They were more protected than the last ones. They had many legs and looked very mobile. From what Telamon could tell they don't have any sort of eyes. So he concluded that they probably rely on smell and hearing organs and other organs. Telamon concluded that some part of evolution makes creatures look like this on this planet.
Then Telamon decided to conclude their threat. They had a lor of sharp claws so of course close combat is out of question. They could also dig well. He then suspected that these creatures might be fast.
Then the scan was coming. It wasn't complete but it's results seemed to be the same as the last time: It's different than Traveler. So Telamon decided to inform Traveler.
"Аномалии засечены (Anomalies detected). "informed Telamon the Traveler.
Now Traveler thinks whether to shoot or not this time. The rifle is currently in sun rounds mode. He changed it from boltcaster when he decided to continue to go north in case if less aggressive creatures appeared. But the reading from what he could tell were the same and colors too. And now these creatures are bigger than the last ones and stun rounds would effect them less. He decided to make several warning shots nonetheless.
He fired 3 shots but the creatures kept moving.
He decided to now properly hit them.
Now the accuracy is better since the targets are larger. He fired 8 shots and creatures didn't turn back. He then realized that he has to switch to boltcaster.
Now creatures were being rapidly eliminated. He fired 5 shots. And it took out out 4 of them. But the last one however. it has quite a will to live. The bolt hit the back part of the creature. Normally when you hit like that the results were fatal. But the back of the creature rapidly disappeared into dark and becuase of that it still lives but creature was now in a lot of pain. But It got some part of the body operational more specifically the front. It then spit out some green liquid. And the spit almost hit missing only by a couple of centimeters. But the spit was quite dangerous. As both traveler and Telamon saw this liquid made a decent hole in the concluded that tis this type of creature spits acid. With shields it's no problem but it's better to keep distance. It's others brethren now turned to dark dust.
Just as the last creatures.
Telamon is now able to properly scan this creature. Only some information about external part of the body could be learned for now and Telamon continued to study deeper. Telamon then notified Traveler of information of external part of the body of the creature. Telamon is not a biologist since it wasn't part of it's programing but he did learn a few things. And disappearing into dark dust is not standard. Even for this duo.
Traveler was now thinking whether to let it be or to end it. Not every anomaly ends up in negative result and maybe this creature would realize the need to escape. He of course took some steps back away to be more safe. The creature is not much operational but appears to be alive. On one hand shooting will end suffering but on the other hand it's not very moral thing to do since this creature appears to be recovering somehow. Even despite his life, morals still exists.
But he didn't have to choose.
The creature disappeared. Just like the others leaving dark dust behind.
That's another life lost. But he now thinks of possibilities. If creatures get this big than better climate must be closer. But he understands that it could also be underground. Evolution likes diversity after all.
But he know thinks how to name this type of creature and looked at what telamon managed to get on this type
"Этот тип имеет 20 ног 2 конечности впереди которые либо ноги либо клешни 4 клешни перед пастью и острые зубы и умеет копать хм… тогда это будет копатель(This type has 20 legs 2 limbs in front which are either claws or legs 4 claws in front of the mouth and can dig hm… then it will be kopatel(digger)".
He then notified Telamon of the creatures new name.
He understands that he will probably encounter more dangerous fauna. So he decided what armament to be used in the rifle and the pistol.
He came to the conclusion that pistol will use stun rounds while rifle plasma. So he strapped his rifle to his hip and now was caring a pistol to which he changed to stun rounds.
Later Traveler was on the other mountain. He did scan the wind and now he tries to connect again with his known frequencies. He hopes to get "home". There is still much to do. The results came: absolutely nothing. He sighed. But he realizes that there is also at peace in a way. There is finally some sort of rest. No horrors, mysteries and so on. Just him, Telamon and these creatures. Traveler has doubts about Telamon because Telamon does it's job without hesitation and Traveler fears that he could become a problem. which would lead to his end. Traveler also questions if he is with the same Telamon or something else. He also has suspicions that Telamon isn't telling truth to him. Then there are the creatures. They of course were mysterious but they can be handled if not caught off guard and at least in majority of time there is peace.
He then got to lower ground and continued to go north, always wondering what could be there with Telamon on higher alert.
Author's notes: The new Grimm that our duo encountered is called centinel. Their description makes perfect sense to be in this kind of terrain. I'm not of writing by the way. Also I retcon for now that the mc is just a Traveler. You of course don't know my Traveler's decisions but I know. I just want to be as accurate as possible to my Traveler and I believe that during writing I can change quite a lot thoughts of how to develop a story. So now mc is just a Traveler. Many times fanfic writes make characters not what they are to the original. It's especially true to one certain character from RWBY. Writes make that character anything else but the original. You have the right to criticize me for sudden retcons. I'm beginner after all. Also I don't mind more critics. I might sometimes forget some details and you can help with that. Also new Nms update came. I would rather want an update that focuses on lore expansion or make settlements even more interesting. Also for you old players of NMS: NMS came out almost 6 years ago. Random useless information but this shows how long this game lasts and how radically it changed. Also as I said this and last character were supposed to be one so this is why the character is so short. Also as you have seen I made a headcanon as to how Telamon managed to deal with being an exosuit AI and why grimm survive this well.
