Author's notes: Again, I update late. Well at least I'm not the worst when it comes to updates. I forgot to say that the mix of 2 chest plates in the last chapter were 1 and 5 types in appearance modifier. In other news since the studying has begun again my writing speed will be slower. Now RWBY ice queendom ep 8, 9 and 10 are released. So far the show is decent enough. But it isn't bad. RWBY has problems with it's toxic community and the creators. So try to watch everything first then learn the community. For those that wonder what other criticisms I have for ice queendom then I have answers. There are spoilers if you didn't fully watch the ice queendom. First is sped up summery of the original show. Which I can live with since they are making something unique. Thankfully fight scenes have improved. Then there is interaction between Yang and Weiss. Weiss blaming Yang for Ruby's behavior. When I read the subtitles I was confused by this interaction. Then there is JNPR. I honestly like them more than RWBY but I respect the decision to leave them as secondary characters since RWBY is the title of the series. The problem being is that Ren and Nora aren't fleshed out in any way while Jaune and Pyrrha are somewhat fleshed out. I hope that Ren and Nora will be fleshed out in the future. Also for those that do know of RWBY well and the community: RWBY isn't that bad since if it were horrible it would've ended long ago and there wouldn't be so much fics about this series.
And as first days in university have shown me, always find someone to stick to in order to not get lost. I could've not written the advices but I want to help all who follow the story officially and unofficially since probably some of you reread the story when you should sleep or when you should be studying and when this story will end you will just move on to another and maybe occasionally reread mine. I give my experiences in order to leave positive impact on you all beyond just the story. I read plenty of fics and sure I did enjoy them but after some time when the fic is ended, I tend to return to pre fanfic reading mood and the joy then in time disappears. And probably you too feel the same way. That's the second reason.
And here comes the story
a see or maybe an ocean but at the very least a big body of water with no opposite coastline in sight. As they both take a closer look at the coastline, they can see that there are a lot more of green plants and though it's difficult to say there appear to be animals too. "Чтож по крайней мере другие формы жизни тут существуют (Wellб at least other life forms exist here)" he says to himself. But then he switches to the topic of the road: "Но куда тогда ведет дорога (But then where does the road lead)?" he questions himself. Then he along with Telamon continue to look where the road leads. and then they see some structures that didn't appear to be natural formations. Upon closer inspection it appears to be a settlement. From this distance it can't be said if it's abended or not. He notices that there is no smoke or something else that indicate activity at first glance but Traveler knows that it could be false. Traveler then turns and says to Telamon" Нам нужно найти место где мы сможем лучше рассмотреть поселение и где нас не увидят (We need a place where we can see the settlement better and where we won't be seen)" to which Telamon nods. And then they begin to search: Traveler with his binoculars and Telamon with the scanner
After some time looking around, they find the closest elevation to the settlement where they wouldn't be spotted. But Traveler doesn't want to risk and decides to go silently and stealthy.
After some time, he gets to the spot and changes to crawling position and using the binoculars and Telamon the scanner. Now he notes:" Теперь лучше видно (Now it's better seen)".
"Посмотрим что там (Let's see what's there)" he says to Telamon while zooming in.
And he sees….

That the settlement is active because he sees a harbor with small naval ships that probably are just some boats that move from the harbor and to harbor. There also appear to be some active farmland but it isn't too big. Traveler suspects that the settlers live off seafood. Since the farmlands aren't too big with probablu afew kilometers in length and wide probably because of mountainous terrain. But Traveler then questions himself:"Кто живет тут(who is living here)"?. He takes a closer look. Then he sees…

Sentient life that looks like him. "Schto za (what the)?" he says to himself. Now he is in state of confusion, excitement and wariness at the same time. Telamon sees it too and is in a state of suspicion
Then Traveler concentrates on further observation. He focuses on one of the setlers. He sees a smaller of them who seems to have lightish skin and ligtish hair and is carrying a bucket with a fishing rod. Then someone taller comes with a little darker hair and skin and takes the fishing rot. At this distance Traveler notes that he can't see the eyes and other smaller details clearly. Though the fact that binoculars are visor like it doesn't help fully to help here. Then he continues to look. Some other people walk by, some having brown skin and some with more lightish and some are radically different by other things. The father and son or relative probably, get on a boat and swim away for what appears to be fishing. Then he switches focus on everybody else. He sees a more middle tall one. This one had almost the same color of the skin as the last ones but this one was different. Though at this distance it's hard to tell but it appears that the head had more biological things, probably ears. Traveler then says to himself: "Такого у меня нет на вверху головы (I don't have these on top of my head)".Which also confuses him since all the scans of his body showed that there shouldn't be anything else on the top of his head. He then looks at the other people around. Some had tails and some other things made by nature.
He then looks to what they are doing. He looks at farmland. Unsurprisingly there is farming there. He notes that they farm probably some plants since cattle was too little and there is plenty of plants there. He then looks at the settlement. Some people are repairing boats some are getting water from the well. All in all, Traveler concludes that this is decent size settlement with enough food supplies to supply it.
But Traveler decides to stop looking for a moment. He then crawls stealthy away a bit and then looks around in case if someone detected him. He sees that nobody is currently behind him. Then he asks Telamon "Нашел ли нас кто-ни будь или проходил мимо здесь (Has anybody found us or was walking around here)"? To which Telamon shook the scanner. Then Traveler looks around just in case for a minute. Then he says" Пока сзади никого нет (For now there is no one behind me)" and then continues to study the settlement.
He now sees some vehicles with wheels along with some mining equipment he has seen at the mine. Vehicles are not in best shape with scratches everywhere and being quite simplistic. There are also pickaxes and some other mechanical tools and they are in rough condition. The same could be said for the clothing of the population. They wore rough clothes. He then remembers how in history books when the 3 currently the most populous species were on their home planets in mining and small settlements people wore rough clothes and had scratches everywhere. But one thing is history books and pictures the other being reality. He then continues to look further.
He sees a group of four with different outfits, skin color and hair colors and having some sort of tools. He zooms in and sees that one is a big guy with brown skin and dark hair and has grey clothes with secondary color being red and the tool appears to be a hammer. Then there is a shorter one with what appears to be orange ears on top of the head and orange hair, there is more bright colored skin and what appears to be a sword and has orange clothing mixed with black. The third is the same height as the last one has lightish hair just as the very first being he saw in binoculars today, has the bright color skin as the last one and has two medium sized blades and there also appear to be holsters for something like pistols and clothes have brown colors with yellow as secondary. And lastly there was the 4th one with no close combat weapons but holding a rifle the last also had green colored clothes with secondary black colors and lightish hair. He also notices barely that their lips are moving so this means that they must talk. Traveler relayed information to Telamon for translator program in hopes of understanding the language even if it won't work at this distance. At this distance not much anything else can be said. Traveler suggests that they probably fight that dangerous fauna. Traveler now concludes that if the worst would come like armed conflict were to occur with them then he must stay at range and take out first the one with the gun and the 3rd one who also might have ranged weponry and then the rest while strictly staying with stun rounds.
He then decides to shake the thought and instead to study anything else possible instead of the armed ones more.
Telamon meanwhile was making plenty of progress of studying the settlement and it sent the info to translator program. It did manage to get more info about the settlement through the scanner. Now it decides to look at what Traveler was looking a few moments ago. And it sees the armored ones. It assessed that the one with the gun is most dangerous one since range is more important than close combat in a possible fight. Full scan is not available since the scanner is out of range. Only visuals work the best for now.
But while Traveler is excited and a little bit cautious about the discovery of the settlement overall, Telamon is raising questions to itself. It knows that nothing stops Atlas from making more of this Travelers race but lately Atlas hasn't been too creative compared to the begging. Telamon concludes to stay away from the settlement for the reasons of suspicion of something else being at hand here and the other being technology. Telamon realizes that it knows little of them but if they are completely normal then it doesn't stop them from taking Traveler's technology and itself which could cause chaos of unprepared use of technology. Telamon often time wishes that Traveler would install a proper voice module. It would ease the coordination and, in this case, speak the opinion to Traveler easier. Telamon understands Traveler's reasons though. But Traveler did work on a compromise choice. Before this journey Traveler was working on installing text chat for Telamon. But as all things the progress isn't complete.
Telamon looks at time. It says it has plenty of time before sunset. But it will take time go away from the setlement since Traveler asked Telamon when they were heading to this spot to remind him to possibly go away from the setlement to find a resting place when it would be getting late.
Telamon then notifies Traveler the current time. To which Traveler responds: "Я в курсе насчет времени но ты прав Тел я может слишком увлёкся сегодняшними открытиями, думаешь еще один последний час мы можем еще позвучать тут поселение на случай если что-то произойдет (I'm aware about the time but you are right Tel maybe I enjoyed too much today's discoveries, do you think we can study the settlement from here the last final hour in case if something happens)?"
Telamon thinks about this. On one hand their priority is to get off the planet and when they first arrived on this planet it did agree with Traveler's logic because climate could've been even more terrible which would stress the systems and then they could both die. But now the climate is hospitable enough and they should start to make a way off this planet with ideas that Traveler proposed to it some time ago and since there are not much people around it would be easy enough even with masking the trails of the probe and if that wouldn't work they still can get out of here relativly the other hand Telamon realises that they don't know needed resourses location and for all they know there aren't much metal around here and other also realises that there also might be able to see something new and important from here. There is also the fact of Setlement and people. They managed to make at least one mining operation and a town they visited not long ago. The sentinels should've ended this but there are no signs of them and those 3 types of creatures are probably not them since it couldn't contact them in any way it knew.
After thinking of all other possible pros and cons which took a few seconds for Telamon in the end Telamon nods to Traveler hoping that it choose the right course of action. Traveler also hopes he choose the right course of action since he too questions his desicion.
50 minutes later Traveler looks at time and sees that he has 10 minutes left and decides to take the last looks. But after 3 minutes Telamon detects movement from the south west and report to Traveler. Traveler turns left and with use of binoculars he sees those not friendly creatures. There are his treehwost and some unknown others. He decides to focus on the new ones. They look like that little one creature that was normal on scans. They have 2 claws and one tail but the difference was that these creatures were not small but quite big. They also had of course black and white colors but this time they had yellow stinger and what appeared to be multiple red eyes.
But then he looks where they are going. He notices that they are heading towards the settlement. Since those people are one of the only things that Traveler understands best on this planet he decides to help the Setlement. He immideatly takes his rifle ataches binoculars to them and aims at them. Traveler sees that even from this range he could hit them. He doesn't head in there since he doesn't want to get spotted and it would take precious time.
But Traveler then sees that the group of four looks like they prepare to fight. But he doesn't lift the fingers of the trigger because 4 guys can't handle them all when only 2 appear to have ranged weapons.
Then he sees that they begin to attack. Traveler realizes that he can't risk possible "friendly fire" and decides to focus on the back line of the attackers. But then he sees that the 4 attacks. Traveler believes that it will be suicidal. But then 3 of them go forward while the 4th stops. The 3 open fire. The rifleman with the rifle, the one with blades with a pistol and the last appears….

To be shooting from his sword? Traveler knows that nothing is stopping from making a firing mechanism in a sword but questions the usefulness of it. He notes to himself to ask Telamon later if that guy was using a firing mechanism in a sword, since now there is a fight going on. Then the trio reloads and then manages to take out more. Then there are less left with only the new ones left. The other 4th charges forward with a hammer. But he does so with impressive speed considering the weight of the hammer. Then the 4th slams his hammer with an impressive power and somehow this manages to eliminate the rest with some sort of purple wave.
Traveler then looks around and sees no more creatures. He then crawls a little away from the spot and looks at Telamon and asked it: Ты видел что я видел, под этим я имею ввиду парня бегущий с молотом и ударяя и делая фиолетовую волну и парня стреляющего из его меча(Did you see what what I saw, by that I mean a guy running with a hammer and slaming it and making a purple wave and a guy shooting from his sword)?" to which Telamon noddes. Traveler and Telamon now come up with a lot theories. In one of them Traveler believes that these creatures could attack him all this time is because that they could 've been harmed by them and that these people specialize in fighting this fauna. But for now he realizes that the settlement can defend itself. Traveler decides to check just in case if there are more of them heading to the setlement and after a minute there appear to be none in sight and it's confirmed by Telamon and Traveler then says to Telamon:"Похоже наша помощь не потребовалась(It appears our help wasn't needed)"and Traveler then follows Telamon's recommendation and get's away.
When Traveler manages to put some distance from him and the settlement, he finds the best place to rest. He decides to not go to the abandoned settlement since it would take too much time and the other reason is possibility to stumble on those fighters or possibly different fighters and other unkowns. He thinks of all the new things he discovered today: the settlement, the people, the new kind of creature and those 4 fighters.
He then says: " Этот мир имеет все больше и больше сюрпризов (This world has more and more surprises)".
After some more thinking Traveler falls asleep with one of the last thoughts being:"Зачем кому-то устанавливать стреляющий механизм в меч ( why would someone install a firing mechanism into a sword)"?
Author's notes: Now our duo saw humans and faunus and huntsmen and a new Grimm: a more older baby deathstalker. In RWBY wiki there is a mention of baby deathstalkers so that means that there must be a middle point between a baby and an giant version of it and then went my imagination. In other ambitious news I plan to exceed the past fanfics in NMS fandom by all positive criterias. Also in negative news I have a little creative crisis. I have a general plot in mind but the details make everything harder. But I'm definitely not of this. Though worldbuilding in RWBY isn't too big, there can be some problems, but on the other hand there are little limitations and we all can imagine the settlements, climate and so on without major constraints excluding the map of Remnant and other lore. In other news I decided to choose a different place than other RWBY crossover fics start because the characters a lot of time in those fics get little to explore the world, which significantly makes the world smaller and boring. Other non RWBY fics suffer the same fate. For example Star wars fics often suffer from overuse of established planets and don't make any unique places. The fics can be enjoyable though but if any of you will write, then note to diversify the universe that you write. NMS universe thankfully doesn't suffer from overuse of planets since NMS doesn't have too much established planets except for vykeen gek and korvax and space anomaly and some really popular by community planets which brings room for imagination. And lastly I will say a spoiler for this story. Traveler's language will be used as plot point. I won't say how much this plot point will be used since you would've have some expectations.
But I can say to you what plans for other stories I have if I didn't write NMS as my first fanfic. I have an idea for a Halo fanfic, 2 ideas for Star wars and recently 2 ideas for a Stellaris crossover.
And lastly I did make a theory of NMS of my own though probably someone already could come up with it and it's more of a symbolism. Normal sentinels have orange paintjob. At first it didn't matter much. But then sentinel update came out and we got blue paintjob on certain sentinels. But these drones were not controlled by Atlas. But then I realized that generally The traveler in NMS is heavily associated with blue and orange. The emotes are with a picture of a Traveler in orange and blue. So I realized that the orange represent loyalty to atlas while blue is being against atlas in some way. So that means that The Traveler or a Traveler is loyal to Atlas but has seeds of disloyalty. So that means that there is some sort of cannon last Traveler. But this isn't connected with this Traveler in this fic because when I started to write this story I didn't have this theory in mind back then.
