'In the autumn of first grade, I was transferred to a new school first day of class.'
A young and nervous-looking Asmund was standing in front of the classroom of children.
"I Asmund," he said timidly. "And I like… I like her…"
'I could barely talk when I introduced myself. It was a new school year, but plenty of students knew each other from the previous term. And they clustered together in groups, it seemed like no one wanted to be the first one to talk to the new kid who already embarrassed himself. Making friends wasn't exactly my speciality, after all, who would want to get to know someone boring and awkward like me?'
It was recess, and all the students were busy in the classroom, talking to their friends, but Asmund sat at his desk completely alone. This was nothing new to him, he had always been alone.
"Asmund," said an excited voice.
He looked up and then saw a young Marcario smiling down at him.
"It was kind of hard to hear what you are trying to say up there earlier, but I was thinking, were you trying to tell us that you like heroes?" Marcario asked. "Is that it?"
Asmund didn't know what to say, no one talked to him like this before. "Well… I, uh…"
"Because I like them too. They're so awesome!"
Asmund just stared at him.
"If you had to pick one who would it be?"
'That day… you talk to me when no one else would, and I remember thinking how warm you were, how bright. You were shining like the sun. I wonder, can I do it too? Can I shine as brightly as you do?'
Back in the present, heroes and the police were engaged with Dragon Killer. Scarlet and her Agency were busy dealing with a heavy brawler that had attacked them right out of the gate. A majority of the police and a few heroes were engaging the thugs in the courtyard.
"Get the hell out of here!"
"Yeah, what you want with us anyway?"
"You heard him, we have a warrant!" a policeman yelled.
"Everyone, please calm down!" said hero."
"Clear a path! Consider the consequences before you resist!"
"They're going to gut the whole organisation just to buy some time?"
One of the heroes then turned to Nighteye. "Just leave the ones out here to us, you go inside!"
"Good luck," said Nighteye as he pushes way through.
"Hate to just barge in like this, but we're kinda in a hurry!" said Fat Gum. They finally managed to break through and entered the building, though something was off. "Haven't seen any signs of suspicious activity yet."
"Yeah, bro, same here," said Rock Lock. "But hey were in it now right? We've got no choice but to see it through."
"It is impossible that someone leaks our plans for the raid?" Suneater asked. "There must be a reason why they came pouring out like that."
"No, if there had been a leak, there would be fighting more cohesively," said the Commissioner. "Groups like this are used to working together."
"There's nothing that matters more to these guys in their bond with their boss and their brothers," said Eret. "Being part of the underworld makes loyalty that much more sacred to them. All those people outside and we haven't caught sight of the top brass yet. They're probably underground hiding getting ready to flee."
"How is that supposed to be loyalty," Red Riot growled. "Forcing their henchmen to write for them while they run away is not manly at all."
Nighteye was leading the way using the information he required from the gang member he got yesterday.
He then suddenly stopped at a picture which showed a massive cove. "This is it. There's a device here that opens the passage." He then began pressing down on different points of the painting. "This is a specific combination and then…"
A portion of the wall then suddenly backed away and began to slide open.
"It's like a ninja hideout so cool," said Bubble Girl excitedly.
"Thank goodness for your power, sir," said Centipede and everyone backed away from the door. "Guards up, we don't know what we might be facing in there."
Then suddenly stepping out of the shadows within the secret passage were three thugs.
"Let's get the bastards!"
"Bubble Girl, you handle the third," said Centipede and his arms immediately extended and wrapped themselves around to the thugs.
The third thug had a knife and thrusted it towards Bubble Girl, but she quickly pushed his arm away and then fired some bubbles out of her fingers. The bubbles then collided with the thug's eyes, and he was immediately blinded.
"Argh, my eyes!" he screamed.
Bubble Girl then quickly grabbed his arm and pinned him to the floor. "We'll make sure these guys don't bother you go on ahead!"
"You heard her," said Nighteye.
"We'll catch up when we can," said Bubble Girl.
The heroes of the police immediately ran down the secret passageway to the underground complex.
"We're almost there, hurry!"
"Activating echolocation," said Hiccup and fire several sonic pulses in order to get a map of the complex. "Wait, there's a dead around the corner!"
They turn round the corner, and sure enough, there was indeed a dead end.
"What now?" the Commissioner asked.
Rock Lock looked at Nighteye. "So much for your foresight, Nighteye."
"Hold on, let me go and take a look," said Vemillion taking off his helmet.
"Vemillion, if you go through you'd be naked," Red Riot pointed out.
"It's okay, Marcario's costume was created from a special fibre made of his own hair," Suneater explained. "It's designed so that it would fade at the same time reactivate his powers."
Vemillion took a deep breath, and his head went straight through the wall. He saw Cardinal continued that someone had erected this barrier to fool them.
'I knew it,' he said. 'The path continues, just like Nighteye said it would.'
He then pulled his head back and looked back at them. "The hallway has just been blocked by this wall. Unfortunately, breaking through will not be easy."
"I knew this Grimmel could tear crap apart and put it back together, but damn," said Rock Lock.
"It's just a cheap trick," said Fat Gum clenching his fist.
"If he did this it's gotta mean that we're on the right track," said Hiccup.
"Yeah, you're right," said Red Riot and hardened his fist. "But he allegedly things are done wall will stop us."
"Let's bust through it," said Sprite as he activated his powers.
Hiccup then places hands together to form a plasma blast. "Let's do it together!"
Hiccup finder plasma blast at the same time Sprite and Red Riot punch through with their fists. All three attacks destroyed the wall in an instant.
"Hey, that didn't suck," said Rock Lock.
"I'll say, they beat me to the punch," said Fat Gum.
"We need to keep moving," said Vemillion.
Further down the corridor Mimic knew that that the heroes of the police had busted down the wall. He then injected himself with the metapower bluesman drug, and he tore through his costume. He became a large muscular man with short blond hair, but no sooner had he been himself his costume that he dived into the wall.
The moment he did the entire corridor began to shift and swerve, catching the heroes in the place off guard. Upstairs Bubble Girl and Centipede could see the wall shifting down the secret passageway.
"The walls," said Bubble Girl.
The corridor was shifting so badly that it was very difficult to stand straight, it was like there was standing inside a bouncy castle.
"What's going on?" Red Riot yelled.
"Everything is twisting," said Hiccup.
"Did the entire place turn into a bouncy castle?" Sprite yelled.
"This is something different," said the Commissioner. "Possibly Nadim, Grimmel power can't do anything like this! Nadim's powers allow him to enter objects and control them as he would with his own body! He must have gone into the concrete in the halls down here and made this a living maze!"
"It shouldn't be possible on this scale!" Rock Lock yelled. "He's not able to control anything bigger than a damn refrigerator!"
"Remember who we are dealing with here, dollars to doughnuts that he's using a performance enhancer," said Fat Gum and then he looked down the twisted corridor. "I was ready for just about anything, but I did expect the whole building to turn against us. Still controlling something this big has to be wearing the guy out. Trapster can't you stop him?"
"I can't do anything without seeing his real body!"
"The passageway keeps shifting and changing like this they can create as many escape routes as they need to," said Suneater. "We have to think quickly if we want to catch them. No, who are we kidding they're going to escape the girl, and we're all going to die down here."
Vemillion then grabbed his shoulder. "Asmund, no way that's going to happen. Understand, you can do this Suneater. Besides this is just a stopgap, they can walk a forwards if they want but so long as we know the direction of our goal I can still reach it!"
Before anyone could stop him, not that they could, Vemillion rushed ahead.
"Vemillion!" Nighteye yelled.
"Come back!" Hiccup yelled.
"Speed is what matters right now, those guys know it too!" Vemillion yelled back. "That's why they're stalling for time. I'm going on ahead."
Suneater just stood. 'Why am I standing around like an idiot? Marcario is doing everything he can. Come on, give it you're all. You have too!'
Vemillion ran through the wall and continued on running.
"Slipping through the walls, huh?" said Mimic. "Oh well, even if he does reach them what would he be able to do by himself?"
Then suddenly a massive hole appeared on the ground beneath the heroes and a handful of the police. They knew they were falling and the floor sealed behind them.
"Now, where are we?" Hiccup asked.
"Some were even farther from the target," said Rock Lock. "Those guys are really screwing with us."
"Well, what do we have here," said a voice. "Looks like some state authorised thugs crashed our party. Isn't that strange?"
They turned around and saw three men were standing in front of them. The one that had talked had blonde long blonde hair was carrying a sword, next to him was a bulky man with a bald head and behind them was a guy wearing a bag of his head, but there was a cut in it allowing his mouth to be visible.
"These guys are obviously ready for a fight," said Fat Gum as he began cracking his knuckles. "Let's see how long petty criminals can last against the strength pro."
Suneater then raised his arm to stop. "The pros should save their strength for when we reach the target."
'Honestly Asmund, the only reason I'm able to do my best because you're here inspiring me,' said Marcario.
"These guys just wanna slow us down, go on I can handle them myself," Suneater said confidently.
Meanwhile, above them, the best of the police were completely cut off from the heroes.
"Try to keep your footing men!"
"What should we do?"
"There are more people than I expected," said Mimic. "I will do with these officers first and leave the heroes I dropped to the Eight Bullets of the Dragon Killers."
"These guys just wanna slow us down," said Suneater looking at the three villains in front of them. "Go on, I can handle them myself."
"You don't have to, we'll work together," said Red Riot.
"Please, everyone stay," said the villain with the sword. "I'll kill you all."
"Sang, we can't use our guns on him leave him to the pros," the Commissioner ordered.
"You've done your homework," said Sang and then immediately launched himself at them. "Oh well, that just means I'm free to let loose!"
"Think again, lay down your sword!" said Trapster activating his power.
Sang extended his hand, but nothing happened. "My powers!"
The large die immediately pulled out a pistol and ended at Trapster. "Power eraser, he's an inferior version of Ariel. I heard the radio with your abilities existed, but our job is to slow you down. Powers or no, we still have fists and weapons."
"Fight you want, but swords and bullets just absorbed into my body," said Fat Gum. "You have no hope of beating us, so why even bother?"
"Big talk, but you just sound scared to me, hero," said Sang.
The police immediately drew their pistols. "Trapster cancelled their powers, we can use our firearms! Surrender yourselves at once!"
Suneater then immediately jumped in and produced tentacles that wrapped themselves around the billions.
'Sang Stolebrow the name Larceny,' he said, looking at the blonde-haired villain. He then turned to the bald head villain. 'Hugo Stonebolt villain name Fist.' He then turned to the villain wearing the back of his head. 'Zer Foodtooth villain name Devour.'
He then began spinning around and stand them into the wall. "I read all about these guys in the briefing! I can take these three on, I ate tons of octopus at the Fat Agency, and its become one of my specialities and I'm pretty down on guns ever since I got shot in the street."
He had managed to grab their weapons with his tentacles which then transforms into a lobster claw, and he crushed them.
"Hold on, Suneater," said Red Riot.
"It's not smart for all of us to fight them," he said as he tossed the shattered weapons aside. "They wanted many heroes stalled here as possible. Let's just give them one, we should save all your powers, especially Trapster for later. You need to be operating a hundred percent to get through those moving hallways. Fat Gum… I know this is something I can do on my own!"
"But you won't be alone," said Sprite as he stepped forward. "I'm staying as well."
Suneater looked at him. "Sprite, I said that I could—"
"We can't underestimate our foes," said Sprite firmly. "These three particular our top customers, your gonna need a little bit of backup, and nothing you can do can stop me. The rest of you should get going."
Fat Gum looked at the two of them and nodded. "Let's get going."
"Wait a minute," said Red Riot.
"Through that door!" said Fat Gum.
"Hey, wait, where are you going," said Larceny as he raised his hand.
Trapster quickly activated his powers neutralising his once again.
"Not again!" Larceny growled.
Sprite then immediately jumped in and struck devour in the face, knocking him out cold.
"Be careful you two, you need to beat them before they can fight back," said Trapster.
"Before you go," said Suneater and he slammed the buildings into the wall once again. "You have to take care of Macario. "He's definitely going to try too hard, so please keep them safe."
With that, the rest of them exited the room leaving both Suneater and Sprite to do with the villains.
"Fat Gum, you going to leave them alone back there?" said Red Riot looking up at Fat Gum. "What are you thinking?"
"Yeah, you sure they can handle them?" Rock Lock asked. "It seems kind of risky, especially since one of them as a rookie."
"I have faith in them both," said Fat Gum. "Suneater is stronger than anybody here, his only weakness is self-confidence. The pressure to do things perfectly sometimes leaves him being crushed, breaking his spirit and yet he is risen to become one of Berk's Big Three under those conditions. With Sprite backing him up, I have no doubt that they can handle those bugs on their own."
Suneater looked at Sprite. "These guys are here to keep us from the target. It's strange that Mimic is not using his powers to help them out, though."
"Don't forget we left quite a few number policeman up there, he's probably dealing with them first," Sprite assumed.
Larceny, in particular, was quite frustrated. 'Not able to use my power was so frustrating.'
Sprite and slowly approached the villains. "Now just hold on tight so I cannot come up with my spores."
Before he could take another step forward, Larceny quickly launched himself catching Suneater off-guard, releasing his tentacles slightly. This allowed him to do a powerful spin kick to Sprite and not him backwards and then suddenly a blade shot out of his mouth and sliced through one of Suneater's tentacles.
"Surprise!" Larceny smirked looking at Suneater. "Made you flinch, didn't I? I know you're in a bind here, but you can't hesitate when it comes to us garbage. You have no idea what nightmares these masks might be hiding."
Sprite rose up and realise what just happened, and I had been concealed within Larceny's mask. Then crystals began to appear around Fist's body.
"Whatever that guy is power was, it sworn off," he said flexing his muscles are not in order to break free from Suneater's tentacle.
Sprite then quickly produced a thorn blade from his wrist, but no sooner had he done so then it was ripped from his body and landed in Larceny's hand.
"You two kids can't kill us, a bit of a handicap don't you think?" Larceny smirked. "Stupid heroes code."
"Larceny power allows him to steal anything that his opponents has equipped," said Suneater.
"Guess my thorns counter something he can take," said Sprite as they backed up a bit.
"You see, we are given up everything, even our lives," said Larceny. "I was so hopeless that I tried to jump to my death, except some righteous hero stopped me. You can't understand people who don't see the point in living, and that is why we will beat you."
"The boss took us from the trash heap gave us a new life," said Fist as he looked darkly down two of them. "Even trash has its pride, he expected more from us!" This then raised a crystallised fist and struck Suneater. "So we became more!"
Suneater then began to remember several years back when he had trouble with his powers. They were testing their powers today, but Asmund was so nervous the only thing he could grow was a single leaf from the top of his wrist.
"What's wrong, Asmund," said the coach. "With your powers, you should be doing more impressive things by now. Are you still feeling nervous? Ah, well… don't force yourself. Back in line."
Asmund then timidly made his way back towards the group of students.
'All sorts of people have powers, not just heroes. At our Metahuman Training Classes, we try to figure out the different ways we can utilise our powers in the future as adults.'
Asmund then suddenly heard a massive crash followed by a shriek of pain. He turned around and saw that Marcario and round thirst facing to a wooden wall, with only his hands faded through it. Upon seeing him in this awkward position, everyone burst out laughing.
"What the heck are you doing, Marcario?"
"That face plant looked ridiculous!"
"I told you guys this really hard work," said Marcario as he pulled back from the wall. "Why don't you give it a whirl? It's like five times harder than you think it'll be."
"Care for Marcario, you're clearly not very good at controlling your power just yet," said the coach.
"That may be true now, the next time all the time after I'll get it right!"
All of the students just laughed, all except Asmund.
Later that afternoon, the two of them were making their way back home.
"Marcario, you are amazing," said Asmund in a soft voice he looked at him confused. "Even if you can't do something you're still so positive and cheerful. That makes everyone around you smile, that's just not how I work. If I worry about messing up I'm done, my mind goes completely blank, and I freeze. You'll become an amazing hero, one who shines like the sun."
"What are you saying?" said Marcario. "You're making me sound like some awesome pro hero or something, but it's not like that. Honestly Asmund, the only reason I'm able to do my best is because I have you here inspiring him. For real, I'm not really all that strong when it comes to most things I try and then there's you… even though I know that you get crazy nervous you keep working hard and refuse to run away. So I don't want to lose to you."
Asmund was completely taken aback. "What?"
"You think that I'm better than I and think that you're not as hyped as you are. That's why you call me things like 'the sun', but come on I'm not that great. You have an amazing power dude, and it's just going to get better, I'm sure of it. You know what else I think, deep down your smiley fun super cheerful guy. So if I'm the sun, then you must be something even more amazing than that let's see… Oh, I know how confident in yourself Asmund, because your—"
Fist swung his fist at Suneater, but he managed to grab it with his bare hands which are turning to octopus tentacles covered in lobster shells.
"That's who I am," he said and crushed the crystals on Fist's hand. "I've got a light bike and even swallow the sun's that's why I Suneater!"
Fist had been taken completely by surprise. 'He is using octopus arms filled with thick muscles to absorb the shock and protects himself of any crystal damage using epic placing of shells.'
He then clenched his other fist. "But that won't stop me!"
'This is it,' said Asmund as the fist headed towards him. 'Over the last two years at Berk, I trained hard to master might power. Now it's time to use it to the fullest. Expressing several manifestations at once, increasing the sizes, picking and choosing their characteristics.'
Just before Fist's fist struck him an armoured plating of mobster covered his face shattering the crystal the moment it made contact. He then suddenly increased the size of his tentacles, still keeping them covered in shells for protection and began to strike Fist and Larceny with.
Sprite just watched. "I never knew he had that in him."
Apparently, neither did the villains as they were getting struck left and right by his tentacles they didn't know which way to turn.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey!" Larceny yelled.
'I'm not on my own,' said Asmund.
"Maybe I should have stayed," said Sprite.
"Things aren't looking good," said Larson as he tried to avoid the tentacles. "Devour, wake up! Time to eat!"
It was at that moment that Devour and his eyes and then quickly rose to his feet before anyone knew he began easing right through Asmund's tentacles.
"Yum, seafood," he said.
He then jumped into the air began biting right through the tentacles with incredible speed and power.
Larceny laughed. "With those teeth and jaws, he can devour anything in an instant, and he digests anything he eats in seconds. It's ridiculous, Devours stomach will never get full. I actually think the two of you are a match made in heaven."
Asmund grimaced. 'Of course, that's why Sprite of him out first. But it's fine, I got plenty of space to move I can dodge his attacks.'
However, he was so focused on Devour that he forgot the other two and Larceny quickly removed the armoured shell around his face. A split second later Fist slammed a crystallised fit right in his face.
"I thought I had," said Fist as he withdrew his best, revealing that in the last second Asmund had created armoured shells around his face. "His reaction time is good, but that's not enough to stop my crystallisation!"
He then slammed his fist into Asmund's stomach, sending him flying into the wall.
"Suneater!" Sprite yelled and immediately charged at Fist.
However, devour the jump nowhere and right through his arms, and then Fist turned around and punched him in the stomach with his crystallised fist.
"Did the two of you really think you can get the best of us," Larceny laughed.
'I'll make the neurotoxin from an octopus' saliva in my arm, if he eats it he won't be able to move anymore,' said Suneater as he raised his arm.
He had just read in the tentacles, and suddenly they disappeared, and his eyes quickly turned towards Larceny, who had them in his hand.
"Those tentacles were too big to steal before, but small ones are no problem," he said.
Fist then jumped in front of him and punched him once again into the wall.
'The team works incredible,' Suneater groaned and looked at Sprite who was just laying there on the ground. 'Ours, on the other hand, is terrible.'
"We may be a bunch of trash, but that doesn't mean we don't have strong bonds," said Fist as he pinned Suneater to the wall.
"Yeah, bonds are no you will be arrested soon," Suneater winced. "Your futures will be lost no matter what."
"Like that matters," said Larceny as he grabbed the packets of food on his belt.
"We haven't had a future for some time," said Fist and his eyes turned to Devour. "One of us didn't fit into society and was tossed aside." He then turned to Larceny. "One was betrayed by his lover and buried beneath a mountain of debt."
"How cheers filled with food, I guess you can turn the things you eat into power," said Larceny as he examined the pouches.
"One was used as a tool by someone obsessed by money," said Fist. "But when it was discovered that the gems you produced were worthless fakes, he was beaten to an inch of his life and left for dead. That's why he means so much to us."
'Come, join me someone like you should be left to rot in the gutter,' said Grimmel extending his hand.
"Who cares what happens after this, he picked us up and gave us worth again," said Fist. "I will kill anyone who gets in his way!"
Suneater just looked at the three of them. 'They don't follow him out of fear, it's more like their brainwashed.'
He then glared. "You really want to be used up and thrown away?"
"Even with your back against the wall, you can't understand can you hero!" Fist yelled as his left arm was covered in a massive amount of crystal.
'My tentacles were eaten, my defences stolen,' said Suneater and then his eyes turned towards Sprite who is on just regenerated. 'They're so focused on they forgot that I have a partner.'
Sprite quickly produced a large conquer and conflict is at Larceny's face every blinding him. 'Larceny is power only works with things you can see; that's why the glee could brandish their guns.'
"Die!" Fist roared as he swung his crystallised fist towards him.
Then Suneater, to Fist's shock, created a crystal barrier in front of his body and the moment is this may contact the crystals on it shattered.
"Hold on! Don't tell me… did he eat my crystals?" Fist stared.
"When you were looking!" Suneater yelled, and his left foot turned into a talent.
With it, he quickly grabbed hold of Fist, holding him in place.
Devour then quickly shot forwards. "Eat! Eat!"
"Eat this!" Sprite yelled as he extended his arm and punched him across the face.
Suneater took the advantage and quickly extended his leg, causing Fist to crash into both Devour and Larceny. He kept on extending his leg into all three of them crashed into the wall and were knocked out cold.
"You trust each other and watch each other's backs," Suneater panted. "I can't understand your circumstances or anger or sadness for that matter, but I do understand your strong bonds. You're more than teammates, I get that and friends don't eat friends, do they."
"Good thing we have our own little bit of teamwork," said Sprite.
Suneater looked at him. "You manage to memorise all the known villains working with Dragon Killer and their powers, better than me."
"I knew these three would be trouble, so that's why I stayed," Sprite smiled. "You okay to walk?"
"I'm good, though exhausted."
"Then lean on me," said Sprite as he grabbed the shoulder. "Just know that you don't have to do everything alone."
