(Author's Note: It's been a while since I've worked on this story, I had a case of writers block when I was trying to work on this chapter, it took a while, and a rewrite, but I got it finished, so here it is, enjoy).

(Also: Keep an eye out for a How I Met Your Mother reference, In addition to some other pop culture references, this chapter is gonna briefly touch on the sensitive topic of school shootings, but don't worry, one is not gonna happen in this story).

Chapter Five: Kelso helps Prevent a Shooting.

Red is at the kitchen table, drinking coffee, and reading the newspaper, the sliding glass door opens, Kelso enters, he's in his police uniform, he has since ditched the Tom Selleck Magnum P.I. look, and looks more clean cut, much like he did back in 1979, he sees Red.

Kelso - Morning, Red.

Red - Hi, Kelso.

Kelso - Where's everyone at?

Red - At work or at school.

Kelso - Oh….Cool.

Red - Shouldn't you be at work?

Kelso - I got a plenty of time before my shift starts.

D.J. and Kelly enter the kitchen.

D.J. - Hey, Kelso.

Kelly - Hi.

Red - Where's Robin?

Kelly - She's still getting ready.

Red - Still?

Kelly - You know how she is about her appearance.

D.J. - We're off to school.

Red - Have a good day.

D.J. - See ya, Kelso.

Kelso - See ya.

Kelly - Bye.

D.J. and Kelly leave, Robin enters the Kitchen.

Robin - Hello?

Red - Robin, you know Mr. Kelso.

Robin - Yeah, Hi. Where's D.J. and Kelly?

Red - They left without you.

Robin - Damn it!

Red - Language. You're not at a biker rally.

Robin - Whatever. I'm gonna be late.

Kelso - I can drive her to school. I'm heading that way anyways.

Robin - Me showing up in a cop car? Are you crazy?

Kelso - No.

Robin - Don't you know what people would say if anyone saw me exit a cop car?

Kelso - Not really.

Robin - Of course you don't know, you're like old.

Red - Robin, enough. Now, officer Kelso can drop you off at school. And that's final.

Robin - Ugh!

She pouts for a moment.

Robin - Fine! But you're dropping me off half-way, I do have a reputation to uphold.

Kelso - Ok.

Robin stomps out the sliding kitchen door, and closes it.

Kelso - She's a feisty one, Red.

Red - Just get her to school, you dope.

Kelso - Ok, See ya, Red.

He's about to exit, but he accidentally runs into the sliding kitchen door.

Kelso - Forgot it was closed.

He opens the door, exits the house, and closes the door. Red returns to reading the newspaper.

Red - How did that moron ever become a cop again?

Sitting in the passenger seat of the police car, Robin Forman looks out the window, seeing everything pass by, most of the familiar buildings of Point Place.

For Robin, Point Place had been her home for as long as she could remember, she was a little girl when her and Kelly went to live with their grandparents after the death of their mother, out of all the girls, Robin remembered her the most, as for a time, it was just her and Laurie, she never knew the identity of her father, the only thing that she knows about him came from her grandparents, Red had told her that her dad was an idiot, while Kitty mentioned that he wasn't responsible enough to take care of a child, while in public, this seemed not to bother her, but in private, Robin thinks that her Grandparents know more then what they tell her, she hopes that one day they'll come clean, and tell her the truth.

She remembers moving around a lot for a few years, whether they'd be roommates with someone, or have their own place, those years she hardly remembers, at one point, Laurie had hooked up with a man that Robin had once described as a bad influence, he eventually went to prison, and disappeared out of their lives, but Laurie discovered that she was pregnant with his child, several months later Kelly was born, so the three of them left the town they were living at, and moved to an apartment building by the College, Laurie had fallen in love with a college professor who was teacher there at the time, Robin remembered the man as kind, and he had a positive influence on Laurie, he had encouraged her to reconnect with her family, she did eventually reconcile with them, and her and the professor later had gotten married in Point Place, not long after, they moved to Kenosha, where they settled, Laurie would give birth to her fourth child, a daughter, those were good times, yet it wasn't to last.

One night, Laurie was coming home from her job, she had gotten into a car crash with a drunk driver, she was taken to the hospital, and fought for her life, despite the doctors best efforts, she died hours later, after her death, Robin and Kelly went to go live in Point Place with their Grandparents, and their older sister, Lisa. Robin had gotten used to the city that has been her home since she was little.

Kelso - Point Place High?

Robin - Duh, it's the only high school close by.

Kelso - I was just asking.

Robin - So, like, did you and my mom hook up?

He is quiet for a few seconds, but he quickly responds.

Kelso - Umm, let's just say that your grandfather didn't like having me around.

Robin - I heard about the incident with the blender and bottle rockets.

Kelso - Not my finest hour.

Robin - And the time you and my uncle Eric were in jail for trenching a yard.

Kelso - I was working undercover.

Robin - Thats not what I heard.

She looks up ahead.

Robin - Ok, stop right here.

Kelso - Huh?

Robin - STOP!

Kelso pulls to a stop.

Kelso - Whats wrong?

Robin - I'll walk from here.

Kelso - But the school is like two blocks away.

Robin - Hello, have you listened to anything I've said?

Kelso - Umm not really.

Robin - My grandfather was right, you are an idiot.

She gets out of the car, and walks to school.

Kelso - Well, you know what?! You're acting just like your mother!

Resident (off screen) - Shut up, Kelso.

Kelso drives off.

Kelso is walking out of a doughnut shop, carrying a box of doughnuts and two cups of coffee, heading to his squad car, getting ready to go on duty.

For Michael Kelso, returning back to Point Place was the best choice he made. During his time in Chicago, Kelso worked as a security guard at the Playboy Club, and often moonlighted on various security jobs, earning a lot of money in his bank account.

Despite his best efforts, his relationship with Brooke deteriorated, which was mainly due to the interference of her Mother, Brooke got married to another man, who was actually Kelso's boss from the Playboy Club, she left Kelso behind, taking their daughter with her. Disappointed, Kelso decided to return home to Point Place, where he made an attempt to get his old job back, someone took pity on him, and Kelso was back on the force, but because of his past shenanigans, and there were a lot of them, he was placed on double secret probation for a good while.

Although he got his job back, and he had money in the bank, Kelso was alone, he dated around, and despite having a brief fling with Pam Macy, he still had feelings for his old girlfriend, Jackie Burkhart, he ran into her by accident, someone had attempted to steal her purse, he went after the perp, and got it back, upon recognizing each other, Kelso asked her if she would go on a date with him, she said yes, and they went out on a date, a couple of months and dates later, Kelso asked Jackie for her hand in marriage, she said yes, it was a beautiful wedding, well of course it was since Jackie was in charge of everything, Eric was the best man, two of his brothers were groomsmen, his sister, and some of Jackie's friends were bridesmaids, it was a great day for them. In the years that followed, him and Jackie would settle in Point Place, and have two children, a boy and a girl, Kelso cherished them.

While the last couple of years were great for him, there were some bumps in the road, he had settled down when he got back with Jackie, but his past as a ladies man would come back to haunt him, most notably the time when someone filed a paternity suit against him, needing advice, Kelso went to Suzy Simpson-Eriksen, his partner from work, and former fling, she told Kelso to talk to her husband, who is a lawyer, he told Kelso that he should do a Paternity test, and settle, he complied, the lawyers met up, a deal was made, and the situation was resolved. Kelso reaches his squad car, and gets in, his partner, Suzy is in there, she's using the car phone.

Suzy (on phone) - Marshall, the diapers are in the bathroom….I'll see you after work….I love you too, bye.

She hangs up. Kelso drives the car away.

Suzy - I love this phone.

Kelso - Yeah, I got the idea from watching Kojak.

Suzy - You sure? I thought the car phone came from Mannix or Cannon.

Kelso - Who cares, now it's the Kelso car phone.

She smiles, and then takes a sip of her coffee.

Suzy - How's your morning been?

Kelso - Good, stopped by the Forman residence.

Suzy - How are they?

Kelso - I just talked to Red, and some of the kids, even dropped off one of them at school.

Suzy - That's nice.

Kelso - I guess, that girl is very rude.

Suzy - Which one?

Kelso - The middle girl.

Suzy - Oh, Robin. That girl is something else.

Kelso - She acts just like Laurie did.

Suzy - Don't sweat it, she just needs a parental figure in her life.

Kelso - Parental figure? She has Red and Mrs. Forman.

Suzy - You should contact her dad, and tell him to get involved in her life.

Kelso - I don't want to.

Suzy - You're gonna have to one day.

Kelso - Well, maybe her dad is ashamed of himself, because he was a dumbass who slept around, instead of taking responsibility.

Suzy - Michael, we all have done things in the past that we're embarrassed of.

Kelso - I haven't done anything embarrassing.

Suzy - Is that so? Big Chief Brown Bottom.

He is caught off by that nickname.

Kelso - Who told you?!

Suzy - Who doesn't know that story.

Kelso - Man, I hate it when Mrs. Forman gossips.

Suzy - As I was saying, we all have done things that we'd rather not speak of.

Kelso - You mean like that one night we had at the gun range.

She smiles at that memory.

Suzy - That was awesome.

Kelso - Does Marshall know?

Suzy - That was before his time. And besides, he was a wild person himself.

Kelso - Was he?

Suzy - His nickname was Beercules.

Kelso - Oh, like Hercules, and beer.

Suzy - Correctamundo.

They are parked by the school.

Suzy - Let's hang here for a bit, things are quiet this morning.

Kelso - Definitely.

They sip their Coffee, and look around the area. something catches Suzy's attention, two young men coming off the city bus, they are carrying duffel bags, something is sticking out of the bag, it looks like the barrel of a rifle.

Suzy - Michael, You see that?

He looks ahead, and sees the two young men, walking towards the school.

Kelso - Yeah. It's those two idiots that always call me crap shoes.

Suzy - Crap shoes?

Kelso - I was out walking one of the K-9 dogs, and I wasn't looking where I was walking. the name stuck ever since.

Suzy - They are carrying weapons.

Kelso - Uh-oh, Should we call for back-up?

Suzy - No time, let's take em' out.

Suzy gets out of the car, Kelso follows suit.

Kelso - But this is reckless.

Suzy - In situations like this, we have to be.

In the parking lot of Point Place High School, two teenagers are setting up weapons.

Harry - Will you hurry up!

Marv - Hold on.

Harry - Where's the bullets?

Marv - Huh?

Harry - The bullets!

Marv - What bullets?

Harry - Damn it, Marv, can't you do anything right?

Marv - My name is Marvin.

Harry - Whatever, Marv. You ain't thinking right

Marv - I got lucky last night.

Harry - What?!

Marv - I said, I finally got lucky.

Harry - Who?

Marv - Laura Kunis.

Harry - Her!?

Marv - Yeah.

Harry - You son of a.!

He punches Marv in the shoulder.

Marv - Ow. What did I do?

Harry - You knew I had a crush on her since the 8th grade!

Marv - She thinks your gay.

Harry - You jerk! She's mine!

Marv - Too bad, she slept with me, and not you.

They continue arguing, Kelso and Suzy arrive, and confront them.

Suzy - Police, hands up.

They stop arguing, and face them.

Harry - Well, well, it's Officer Kel-Schmo, and his Red-Headed Bimbo.

He has a laugh, she doesn't like that word.

Suzy - Say that again.

Harry - Bimbo.

She growls.

Suzy - Thems fightin' words where I come from.

She whistles to someone, a man shows up with a boombox.

Suzy - Play it!

The guy presses a button on the boombox, Carl Douglas's "Kung Fu Fighting" starts playing.

Harry - What are you gonna do, disco dance?

He laughs again.

Suzy - You're going down, little boy.

The chorus kicks in, Suzy screams, and charges towards him off screen, punches are heard.

Harry (off screen) - Ow! My arm!

Kelso - She's fast as lightning….Hey, Wait for me!

Kelso runs off screen, more punches are heard.

Harry (off screen) - Ow that hurts!

Marv (off screen) - I want my Mommy!

The two of them are handcuffed.

Marv - Well, this is awkward.

Harry - You think?! We got arrested by a Kelso!

Marv - I told you we should've stuck with robbing lockers.

Harry - You're an idiot, Marv.

Marv - If this makes the newspapers, we're the high school bandits. H.I.G…

Harry Kicks Marv.

Harry - Shut up, Marv!

Cop - Get them out of here.

They are hauled away, the Police Captain approaches Kelso and Suzy.

Captain Kennedy - Simpson, Kelso, good job.

Suzy - Thank you, Captain. And it's Simpson-Eriksen.

Captain Kennedy - Whatever. Where did you learn to do that?

Suzy - Bruce Lee movies.

Kelso - I just followed her lead.

Captain Kennedy - Good to know.

Kelso - Does this mean I can train cops at the academy?

Kennedy looks at him, bewildered

Captain Kennedy - No! The last thing I want is a bunch of rookies acting like you.

Kelso - Just thought I ask.

Captain Kennedy - I'll see you both back at the station.

Suzy - Yes, sir.

Kelso - Yes, sir.

The Police Captain walks away.

Kelso - Now what?

Suzy - Let's finish up here, and get something to eat.

Kelso - Sounds good.

In the living room at the Forman Residence, Red, Kitty, Lisa, Robin, Kelly, D.J., Kelso, and Jackie are in the living room, watching the news.

Newsreporter - And a tragedy was prevented today, thanks to the bravery of two local police officers, Suzy Simpson-Eriksen and Michael Kelso.

Red - That idiot did something useful?

Kitty - Red, be nice.

Kelso - This feels good, I'm a hero.

Jackie - Michael, I'm so proud of you.

She kisses him on the cheek.

Kelso - Thanks, babe.

Jackie - Let's go.

Kelso - Where?

Jackie - Hotel, I left the kids at your Mom's house.

Kelso - Ok!

The both of them run out of the living room.

Red - For adults, those two still act like teenagers.

Kitty - Oh, Red, that's just love.

Red - Yep, Love that comes over here and borrows our stuff every day.

D.J. - Just like Kramer from Seinfeld.

Kelly - Nonsense, Bob Sacamano is the real star.

There's a knock at the door.

Kitty - Now who could that be at this hour?

Lisa - I'll get it.

She goes to answer it, in walks a young man, who looks very familiar.

Ron - Guess whos back for summer time?!

Kitty - Ron!

She runs up to her grandson, and hugs him.

Kitty - My grandbaby is here!

Ron - Glad to see you too, Grandma.

Kitty - Where's your brother?

In walks a young man who looks exactly like Ron, a twin to be precise, he's dressed in hip-hop attire, this is Reginald aka Lil Red.

Lil' Red - Sup, peeps!

Red - There goes my summer of peace.
