Prompt: Learning a move you can't.
The heroes learn one or more moves that they normally shouldn't be able to use.
Whether through training or battle or because they had a cold, an attack was used by someone who shouldn't have been able to use said attack.
"Uuuuuugggg," Horizon groaned angrily glaring at the small stone in front of him, "Float up, glow blue! Anything!"
Amber watched still confused to what he was doing. Currently the two of them were in the guilds "training rooms" Each team could sign out one of the rooms for a day or an hour or so.
Amber tilted her head to the side regarding him, "Horizon… not to ruin your moment with the rock, but what are you doing?"
"Trying to use Psychic," Horizon replied closing his eyes and facing Amber, "I can use Psyshock and Extrasensory buy for some reason Psychic is out of reach!" He grumbled glaring back at the rock.
"Eeerrm…" Amber started after a moment, "Vulpix nor Ninetales can learn the move Psychic," Amber explained, "Not without their parents knowing it, even then I don't think you can..."
Horizon's eye twitched, "You are KIDDING ME!" He snapped angrily, fire lapped at the side of his mouth and smoke blew from his nose, "How does that make any sense AT ALL!!" Horizon howled, "I can learn Dark pulse, Hex! Extrasensory and Psyshock! But not Psychic!" He stomped his paws onto the ground and punched the ground, "AAAHHHHHHHH!"
Amber giggled at his outrageous tantrum, she loved it when he threw a huge fit, throwing just about anything out of proportion. Amber breathed deeply, waiting for him to run out of breath before talking, "Ya know Vulpix are one of the only Pokemon that can learn the trifecta of ghost, dark and psychic moves, and with your Alolan varient add fairy to the mix."
Horizon glared at her pouting, "Why do Pokemon moves make no sense!" He replied looking down.
"Look that's the way I was taught, and that's the way it is," Amber replied walking up to him, "My parents taught me a ton on moves and types before they… you know…"
Horizon sighed and nodded, "I'd prefer to forget our tale to the Abyssal badlands, and everything that transpired there," Horizon said frowning at her.
Amber smiled at him, "Hey the outcome was good, we got a set of Harmony scarves, Entercards, some sick cloaks and my parents are back!"
"That doesn't weigh the trauma," Horizon snorted indignantly raising his head and looking away.
Amber sighed, "Why do you even want to know psychic? You have moves to cover fighting types," She pat his back with a paw, "Why?"
"Because Extrasensory doesn't let me float things or Pokemon into the air," Horizon replied with a huff, "it'd be useful in so many situations."
Amber sighed and shook her head, "Head to town, someone there may enhance your psychic powers," Amber stopped him before he could bolt, "Don't expect much."
Horizon rolled his eyes jumping to his feet, "Catch ya later Amber, I'll show ya when i learn Psychic!"
Amber rolled her eyes, "Sure you will," she sighed smiling, "Just be careful!"
"You worry too much! Horizon replied rushing away from her leaving Amber with an upset stomach.
*About an hour later*
"What's the point on having a large town, if there's nothing useful!" Horizon grumbled stomping through the streets, "No one can help me with my psychic powers!"
"Psychic powers you say?" An unfamiliar voice sounded in his ear.
"Gah!" Horizon yelped jumping away from the figure, "Who are you?"
"I am Alakazam," it replied, turning away so Horizon didn't see his face, "I can help you with your problem. Come."
Horizon half frowned at the figure as it walked away, releasing a sigh he followed.
"This better not be a trick," he muttered walking alongside the figure, "if it is I swear i will burn you to ashes."
"Patience is a virtue Horizon."
"Nice advice, where'd ya get it? The guilds propaganda posters?" Horizon replied with an eye roll.
The figure stopped In front of a run down older looking building, "Do you want my help or not?"
Horizon sighed annoyed, "Go on." He muttered as the figure turned back around and entered the building.
The figure led Horizon through the front door, in the middle of the main room was a table with a purple cloth over it, a stone was in the middle.
The figure walked over to the opposite end and sat down. Horizon frowned again sitting opposite of the cloaked Alakazam.
"Now what?" Horizon asked the figure placing a paw on the table.
"The figure didn't answer for a moment, he just sat quietly, Horizon couldn't tell whether the figure was staring or not.
Horizon blinked a couple of times before the figure answered, "Go on try, lift the rock."
"Ya did nothing."
"To you, yes I did, to other psychic users no."
Horizon growled before closing his eyes, focusing on the stone on the table. He breathed once before opening his eyes.
Horizon's vision had a light blue tint, as he glanced around, the stone, glowing a similar blue floated in the air above his head.
"W_What the!" Horizon yelped falling backwards surprised. The stone clattered to the ground no longer glowing.
"Congratulations, you just used Psychic." Alakazam said calmly nodding down at Horizon.
Horizon simply glanced back up at him, "What did ya do?"
"I enhanced your abilities, simple," Alakazam replied smoothly, "free of charge."
Urm, thanks?" Horizon said after a moment of confusion, "I'll see ya around…"
The Alakazam waved as Horizon exited the building still confusion raced his mind, "weirdo." Horizon snorted dismissively aa he walked away.
"Amber is bound to be at the guild still," Horizon continued to himself rushing away.
Horizon ran through the city which was strangely empty, for some reason. Horizon shrugged it off.
He approached the guild once outside of the city and everything felt… wrong. Nothing looked wrong, Horizon just felt as though something was wrong.
And he would be right.
"Horizon!!" Amber screamed from behind him, the Rockruff rushed to him panting out of breath.
"Amber? What's going on?" He asked confused raising an eyebrow.
"The… hah Abyssal realm is attacking," She explained quickly, "We need to evacuate! Now!"
Horizon stepped back surprised, "H_How? I thought they couldn't come to our world!"
"Well change of plans," a familiar voice interrupted them, "You two will be taken back to the Abyssal badlands and turned into reverends." The leader of the Abyssal realm a grey seemingly hollow Haxorous looked behind them.
Amber turned around and got into a fighting stance, "We beat you once!" Amber hissed preparing an attack.
Horizon narrowed his eyes at the dragon crouching down and preparing a flamethrower.
The Haxorous cackled, "You two are cornered," He said smiling at them, "And you are missing these." The dragon held up a set of scarves behind him a similarly grey but with bright yellow/orange eyed Charmeleon stood beside him, no fire on its tail.
"It'd be a shame of they were…" Haxorous stared holding the set on front of the Charmeleon, "Destroyed…"
The Charmeleon shot a flame burst from it's mouth and the scarves burned in the dragon's talons.
Amber winced her confidence faltering slightly, "N_No matter," She stammered, "We can still win…"
"Generals!" Haxorous snapped loudly, A set of Lycanrock one the midday the other midnight, with a similar colour combination to the Charmeleon.
Amber's eyes widened, "M_Mom… Dad…" she whispered staring at them
Horizon growled, "I will burn you until there is nothing left and leave you there to rot!!" He snapped angrily fire begining to show from the corners of his mouth.
Haxorous laughed, "You two are outnumbered, the guild members have already been transferred into reverends," he took a looming step forward, Amber and Horizon took one back, "You two are my final enemies, soon to become pupils." Haxorous finished before holding a claw up and pointing at us.
The group of revenants, those from the guild, from the town swarmed us from all sides. All while Haxorous watched gleefully.
Amber was knocked down and Horizon back, "Amber…" Horizon whimpered falling to the ground beside her, "I'm…"
Then the whole world shook.
"Gah!!" Horizon yelped his eyes shooting open. The fox was lying down in a room a table in the middle, purple cloth on it.
"What the…"
"Horizon!" Amber yelped hugging him, "That Hypno released you finally!"
Horizon regarded her skeptically, "Hypno?"
Amber nodded, "He put you to sleep after he offered to help you with your psychic powers," Amber explained.
"No no no!" Horizon interrupted, "That was an Alakazam…"
Horizon's gaze faded to the form of a Hypno, in a familiar cloak being dragged away by four Magnemite.
Amber smiled at him, "That criminal had a bounty for 30,000 Poke, so if it weren't for you being stubborn and refusing to listen, we wouldn't have got him!!" Amber chirped happily hugging Horizon again, "Uh… Horizon?"
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"
