Without A Sound
Sam can't remember why he glanced sideways. He doesn't remember the coffee falling from his hands. He barely remembers yelling for help.
Only hours before, time itself had felt as though it were racing headlong toward an unimaginable, unavoidable fate. Then suddenly Dean was awake and precious hours no longer passed in the blink of an eye. Sam could breathe again.
Now as he clutched an unsteady Dean, Sam's heart tightened in his chest. Watching the doctors' struggles, a surreal feeling washed over him. How could time move so fast one moment, only to slam to a halt the next?
