Perseus stood at the head of his forces, about to enter Camp Jupiter. He was slightly disappointed that Khione wouldn't be fighting by his side this time, but he knew it was best that she stay out of this battle, even though she wasn't happy about it either, they had recently agreed that it would be best for her safety for her to stay out of the battles for now. Instead, she was visiting her father and half brothers in Montreal.
Boreas, while not the biggest fan of Perseus, had sided with the primordials and accepted Perseus and Khione's relationship.
Once Perseus entered the Roman camp, it was obvious that the Romans had been warned about him. The legion had obviously been watching for him and his forces knowing he would most likely attack soon. Hence why the legion had already assembled when he entered the camp. The three avengers were also there, much to Percy's annoyance. Clearly, they hadn't listened when he'd told them at camp Half-Blood that he would let them live if they just stopped fighting for the gods. Now he wouldn't hesitate to kill them. Anyone who continued to fight for the gods would die. He would make sure of that.
The moment he had entered the camp along with his forces the Romans had attacked. Perseus, along with his hoard of minor gods, demigods and monsters fought back, they slew many Romans, Perseus recognized a few of the Romans but he cared little if they lived or died. he spotted Reyna fighting a group of monsters, and he was certain that she was using her powers to strengthen her warriors. He also spotted a demigod carrying the legion's eagle; it felt like it had been years since he had retrieved it for them while on the quest with Frank and Hazel. Back then he knew he would have never even considered turning against the gods, but he had changed a lot since then, especially after he had fallen into Tartarus with Annabeth.
That had been when his transformation from loyal demigod blindly following the gods because he thought it was the right thing to do, to a powerful enemy of the gods had begun.
Now he hated the Olympians and cared little for all the demigods. What he cared about most now were Khione, their still unborn children, and Overthrowing the gods, not necessarily in that order. At the moment Perseus was doing little more than observing the battle, few demigods dared challenge him after they had learned about what he had done at Camp Half-Blood. The ones that did he either knocked out or killed depending on whether or not he was feeling generous. More often than not, he wasn't feeling generous.
Hannibal the elephant was also trampling over the battlefield, stepping on some of Perseus's warriors in the process. Perseus wasn't pleased by that so he decided to eliminate the annoying animal himself. He focused for a moment and the animal began making sounds of distress. Many of the Romans looked at him with concern, but they couldn't do anything to help him. Perseus had used his powers to conjure enough water in the animal's airway that it was essentially drowning without actually being in a body of water. It wasn't long before the demigods and his own warriors scattered as the elephant fell over dead.
Perseus also spotted the armless statue god Terminus attempting to protect the city of new Rome from his warriors. He chuckled with amusement; he knew the god wasn't helpless, despite being a statue, after all, he had helped him defeat Poseidon's giant bane, but he was certain he could overpower him. Perseus dissolved his body into water droplets before reforming it near Terminus and a few of his warriors who were trying to get past the statue god.
Although he was certain it was pointless Perseus spoke to Terminus, "Terminus, Let my warriors pass,"
He replied, "No, you know it is my duty to protect the city, I will not let them pass,"
Unsurprised, Perseus replied, "Fine, I'll make you do it,"
He did just that, Terminus tried his hardest to fend off the primordial but to no avail, Perseus took care of him relatively easily, leaving his statue smashed to pieces on the ground.
Eventually, a demigod confronted him who he had once considered a friend, Reyna stood before him, her sword swinging toward him. He blocked it with ease.
"Reyna, Surrender, you can't defeat me, and no more legionaries will have to die. I will leave along with my forces, as long as you swear that the legion won't interfere when I confront the gods, or even better, join me in my fight against them…"
The only response he got was her swinging her sword at him again. He wasn't surprised by that, but he had hoped for a different outcome. It would have been a big advantage to have the entire Roman Legion on his side, nonetheless, he wasn't ready to completely give up on the Romans yet. He was certain that at least some of them would turn to his side with some persuasion. He knocked Reyna unconscious, he knew it would be unwise to kill her if he wanted any of the other Romans to join him. Killing one of their praetors certainly wouldn't help him gain the Romans' favour.
Instead, he made his own forces halt, and then Romans also stopped for the moment, mainly out of confusion. Like he had done at Camp Half-Blood. He spoke to the Romans Explaining that he would spare them if they stopped fighting for the Olympians, Although he also urged them to switch sides and join him instead.
He pointed out how little the Olympians did to help them. That was all he managed to say before most of the Romans attacked his forces again. Perseus could tell that a few Romans had switched sides, but it definitely wasn't as many as he would have liked. As the fighting continued a few more Romans switched sides, but it wasn't long before he decided the battle had gone on long enough, and he suspected that he wouldn't be able to recruit anyone else anyway.
Before he left with his forces, he said one last thing to the Romans, "I was not lying when I said that I would spare you as long as you stop fighting for the gods, I don't want to kill you, but If I have to I will. Think about that before you interfere when I confront the gods," After he finished his warning, he left along with his forces, giving the Romans one last chance to save themselves.
Perseus had hoped to get more of the Romans on his side, but he wasn't exactly surprised that he hadn't, the Romans were extremely loyal to the gods, he knew it would be hard to convince any of them to join him. The fact that he had managed to convince a few people was good enough for now. When he returned to his palace, Khione had also returned, and he spent some time with her before he had to leave again. He was going to meet with Nico to find out what was going on at Camp Half-Blood. Perseus Arrived at his base moments before Nico did, so once Nico did arrive he was surprised that Nico wasn't alone. "Why did you bring him here?" Perseus asked suspiciously.
"I have decided to join you," replied Will Solace.
Perseus raised an eyebrow, surprised that Nico had managed to convince the son of Apollo, especially since at least one child of Apollo had died during the battle at Camp Half-Blood. Perseus said, "You realize that you will have to swear on the River Styx not to betray me,"
Will simply nodded, more stoic than Perseus ever remembered seeing him. Perseus told him what he would have to say, and Will repeated the oath.
There were some barracks at his base where the majority of his forces were staying, and he would have made Will Stay there, but he didn't fully trust him. Instead, he did the same thing he did with Leo after he first freed him, he'd wanted to keep a close eye on them to make sure they weren't going to backstab him. Now he was certain that Leo wasn't going to betray him, but he wanted to keep a close eye on Will for a while before he would fully trust him. He knew that doing that might annoy Nico, but if it did he was sure he could make Nico understand that it was necessary.
Perseus knew that the oath he'd made Will swear should stop him from possibly betraying him, but Perseus was just being cautious, perhaps even a bit paranoid. Although from his experience it was usually better to be overly cautious rather than not cautious enough.
I took them both to my palace, before telling Will everything I thought he needed to know about the palace, and what I might get him to do now that he had switched sides. After that, I asked Nico if there was anything new he'd learned about the gods' and demigods' plans. It turned out that there wasn't much happening at Camp Half Blood at the moment. The campers were divided on what to do next, some were preparing to continue fighting, while some were refusing to fight altogether.
Percy cracked a small smile at that, at least a few demigods had enough sense to make that choice. After his conversation with Nico ended The son of Hades left. Perseus left Will alone in the room he'd given him and went to spend some time with Khione.
Perseus and Khione both knew that it wouldn't be long before their children were born since goddess pregnancies are much shorter than mortals' They were both also certain that Khione was pregnant with more than one child, mainly because goddess pregnancies also don't normally show much unless there was more than one baby. That was the main reason why Khione had stayed out of the attack on Camp Jupiter, she could have no doubt fought and protected herself, but Perseus didn't want the Olympians to find out she was pregnant since they might try to capture her and use her to try and manipulate him.
It would be at least a few days before Perseus and his allies would attack Olympus, although it would most likely be longer than that, Perseus and his father still had some planning to do and only once that was done would they be able to take down the Olympians.
