I woke up to the morning sun shining on my face and to the smell of fish. I picked up my face to look around the room. I noticed that Nick must have moved me while I was asleep. I was no longer on the couch but I was in a bed. I smiled at the fact that I am still a fox. Wrapped in a ball for warmth to prove it. It is odd that I love being a fox, but I miss home and home is being human so I guess I miss being human also. I jumped off the bed and stretched. Just like McCoy I thought. Rule one in being a canine is to stretch always. Here I am laughing at myself. I walk around the room and see on a table near the bed that there is a note. I took a look at it being so happy that the English language is still the same.

Snow,

The bathroom is down the hall and the first door to the left. Everything you need will be in the bathroom. Fresh clothing will be in there for you too. When you are done you are more than free to go into the kitchen and have breakfast.

I did what the note said and went into the bathroom and took a shower and got ready to go search for the kitchen. I remembered thinking that this house was not a large house but it was not a small house, but for one person it was big. I found the staircase and walked down it. Looking behind me how my tail is wagging. I guess it is true how being happy or feeling a good emotion does relate to a dog's tail. I saw a mirror at the end of the stairs and saw myself. I was able to see my full self. I was as white as a sheet of paper with light blue eyes. My tail must be my next favorite part of me now. It is all white also but at the very end, it has an off-white almost gray tip. I loved how I looked. I started to laugh and saw how I was still walking on all fours so I tried to stand up. I would have fallen if it was not for the wall but I did it. I tried to do a small spine I started to laugh and bark. I feel so silly I looked at my paws and thought how animals have become so much like humans. They can do anything that humans could do in my universe. I heard a chuckle down the hall. I went down on all fours and growled at him. The smile on Nicks's face turned into a frown very fast. He walked slowly to me and said No need to worry Snow. It is only me. Remember me? I am Nick, your friend. I said yes I remember you but I did not think I was being watched so when I heard you it scared me.

He said well then I know to never show you a surprise party. You might kill someone because of it. I smiled and said well I have done that before. Nick stopped and said wait what? Killing people is easy. I said winking at him. Nick, I will steal money or make people feel bad, But I will never hurt another being. Well, then he said while he was showing me to the kitchen so we could eat our breakfast.

While we were eating I asked Nick if we could see McCoy after breakfast. Sure we can but we need to stop at the police station first. Why I asked? Well I need to drop some paperwork off and Judie wants to see me and you need to fill out some papers so that you can be a legal Fox. I laughed at that. I have never been a legal anything. I got a fake ID at age 14. When I finally got a real ID it only meant that I could go to places with tighter security. Nick looked at me and said you are totally a fox. I smiled and said I better be because that is what I am.

After breakfast, we left Nick's house. I realized that Nick lived in a nice neighborhood. I said it is odd seeing cops living in an area like this or at least back home. Cops don't make enough. Which is kinda sad. Nick said yea my scamming people before I became a cop did me some good. I smiled and said let me guess you became best friends with a police officer and that is how you became one? Why yes it is Nick said. Luke wanted me to do the same thing but I said no to him so many times. Luke told me once that how many laps I could do compared to him was crazy, I said

By this time we were at city central. I said please let me see McCoy first? Nick said no, Let's get the hard part over first. We walked into the police station and as soon as we walked in this cheetah, I think? Those cats with the stripes and spots get me confused. But he said Nick where have you been? Well, spots I have been helping out our new friend here with getting her feet on the ground. Snow I would like you to meet Benjamin Clawhouser or spots. Spots I would like you to meet Snow. It is great to meet you I said quietly and almost hiding behind Nick. I wanted to hide from him so bad and I do not blame myself for thinking that. Even as a human I would have wanted to run away.

Clawhouser saw this and said don't you worry there Snow! I love donuts too much to hurt a fly. I laughed and said back home my favorite donut was the ones with the cream inside with chocolate on top. Chocolate? Both Nick and Clawhouser asked. I said well it would make sense that you do not know about it. Most animals can't eat it. They will get sick and die, but it is so good.

Good talking to you Spots we have to meet with Chef Bogo. Nick said. As we were walking away I saw Clawhouser wave and I heard him say when we were a good distance away those two foxes are so cute together. I said no Nick did you hear what Clawhouser said? Don't you worry about it, Snow. He likes thinking things out loud.

We got to Chef Bogo's office and walked in. I saw him and for him, I did not get scared. I liked him. He might act like he does not care but he does. I was right when he started to talk to Nick. He started to ask me questions and we started to talk. I everything about myself and how I have no clue why I am here. When I should be dead when I got hit by that car. I told him when I was born and how old I am. For some reason just like humans, we started to stay alive longer because of better health and the same thing happened to mammals. In the end, I got an ID and birth certificate that said Snow on it. I did not feel like my old last name would do me any good here. I am no longer Eliza. I am Snow. The same thing with McCoy I got him a birth certificate. He is legally mine. Like in a mother-son type of mine. I loved my little boy but he is not mine mine but now he is. I started to run and skip all over the office and laughing. I went up to Nick and hugged him and said look. McCoy is my son! He gets to learn how to read and write and to be more than an animal that sits and waits for me to get home. He will have a real-life when he wakes up.

Well, then Snow should we go see that little fox of yours? Of course but he is not a little fox he is a little bear. He may look like a fox but he is a bear at heart. I smiled at the end of that and ran out the door and yelled come on Nick! We got to go. Wait near Spots and I will be there soon. I said ok and walked away.

Nick POV

Here is my report Chef and here is Snow's phone and all her personal things that were in her bag with her. Tell Carrots that I will be back to work as soon as Snow is on her feet. She still gets scared and the wild animal inside comes out when that happens. She needs to learn how to handle it. Are you sure you are up for this? said Bogo. We can get a doctor to do this. No, I said. I am more than willing to help her. There is something about her that makes me want to be near her. I like how everything is new to her and how caring she is. She is a good vixen. She takes care of her pup very well and she is starting to view me as a pack. There are times I have noticed that if I am there to protect her she will still hide but it is behind me and she will not go on all fours and growl. Oh? Said Bogo. Be careful now Nick you are a good cop and your judgment is usually spot on but don't become attached to her. She might be gone one day and go back home. What will lead you then? Being alone? In love? Having a mate one day and then not the next? Foxes mate for life but it sounds like for humans they do not so she may not understand how you could be feeling.

Bogo was right but I had faith in Snow. She acts like a fox completely so I think if I start to teach her the ways of the fox all will be fine. Thank you, Chef. I will start to teach her how foxes live here in the next day. I will keep you posted. I was about to head out the door when Bogo said I do not care but getting her to see a physical and a mental doctor might help. It is your life. Bogo went back to his desk and I left. I was heading down to meet up with Snow when I heard a big growl. It was snow and here she was trying to take on this wolf. I heard officer Wolfheart say know I do not know what a fox is doing here but you need to leave. If you growl at me again then you are going to be muzzled and locked up. I heard Snow bark and try to talk all at once. She was saying please leave me alone, but the language of the fox use to be known by all canines but now anymore. Foxes know their language and wolves only know their language. I ran up to them and said stop. Good Nick is here Officer Wolfheart said. Get this lowlife fox out of here. She must want to steal or do something like that. She is not here to do anything like that. I brought her here so that she could talk to Bogo. Know shut your mouth or I will put a muzzle on you. I walked to Snow and barked are you ok. She was crying. She was really crying. Do all mammals hate foxes like this? She said. I said yes but that is why we need to prove them wrong. We can be as sneaky or as cunning as they think we are in our own special way. I am a police officer because I am good at it but I use it for good. I was wrapped around her and nuzzling her neck and face. She was doing it to me also. She was still crying but she had enough energy to ask can we go see my pup please Nick? I want my pup. I also do not want to be alone until we go back home. Please do not leave me again? Of course, I said. She licked my face and nuzzled my neck again and we walked out of the police station with Bogo yelling get back to work and I do not want to hear about this again from anyone!

I kept on thinking how am I supposed to tell her that everything that we just did was things that foxes would do to claim their mates so no one else can take them? I better find a way soon or I am going to be as good as dead.
