Skulltown.
The perfect place to land to find test subjects. Dr. Ulrik was eager to witness the effectiveness of his new and improved batch of noxious gas, a 'heavier', more concentrated version of the original compound. With double the potency, he theorized that any organism enveloped in those murky green clouds would wither and die in a matter of minutes.
He had two methods of administering the gas. The first came in the form of six collapsable proximity mines he would deploy along the perimeter of a given area. Once tripped, a single mine releases enough gas to corrode titanium and eat away at human flesh. The second came from canisters. He could throw one into whatever den the subjects may be holed up in or to cover an open space with a thick blanket and render that part of the battlefield temporarily inaccessible.
The unique thing about the canisters was their lasting power, which was virtually indefinite. He only carried four, but his mask's filtration system cycled noxious gas into the larger canisters strapped to his torso in order to feed him clean air. Simply put, he was able to recycle the toxins that would otherwise kill him. As long as he remembered to recover the thrown, emptied canisters and refill them after use.
His teammates broke off shortly before landing in search of their own weapons, so Ulrik shouldered through a door to the nearest building and looked around for whatever he could find. The doctor's gaze fell upon a shotgun that he seriously considered leaving where it lay on the floor. Reason got the better of him, and he reached down and scooped up the Mozambique.
The Mozambique, given its range and low damage output, functions best as a dangerously close quarters weapon superior to the usual punches and kicks thrown in desperate hand-to-hand combat. Only once the user has completely closed the gap between themselves and their target will its triangular spread of burning buckshot come into play. And even then, it still might not get the job done, unless the target is severely wounded.
Dr. Ulrik wasn't phased by this. Scarce equipment in the field was something he'd dealt numerous times before, so he knew could make it work for the time being. He set about placing gas traps near all the entrances when the footsteps of approaching enemies caught his attention. This prompted him to check one last time to make sure his gas mask was properly sealed.
Let the experimentation, begin.
