Stricken with grief after Arthur's death, Merlin starts writing letters to him. Living alone by the lake Avalon, Merlin waits for his king to return to him. Merthur. Happy ending.

Arthur keeps repeating the same day over and over again, but no matter what, he can't seem to save Merlin. It is a Merthur, romance is one of the genres, just saying. I suck at writing romance though, so it's very mild.

Arthur and Merlin are quite happy with life in Rhegad. But a chance visit to Camelot, a sudden attack by Merlin's old flame and an unexpected guest lead to them finding themselves bound by love, duty and destiny to fight for Camelot. (Based on the lovely graphic by hope27)

This is an AU. Merthur is important. Merlin restored magic to Camelot after Arthur died with the help of Queen Gwen and died of an assassination from being made court sorcerer. (Completely disregard the last part of Season 5 where Merlin is an old man in the future.) But he remembers nothing of what happened when the gang and he are reincarnated as children.
