Isa's kids reacting to Edward appearing...
Note: I had a hard time writing this chapter, which is why I am posting it at this time.
I warned you all that this wasn't going to be an ExB story. There will be a semi happy ending but they won't be ending up together.
(Gio's POV):
A few hours before the game:
"Ramos!" The coach called me forward as the rest of the team walked onto the field to begin the drills.
I sighed, throwing my head back in exasperation, as I wiped the sweat off my forehead.
Having Isa back home is great. Though her return didn't go unnoticed by my teammates or coach. Especially since I had been slightly distracted since she informed me of all the shit that asshole of her ex-husband had done to her.
Who the hell cheats on the person you're supposed to love? Not only cheated but intentionally ruined her life and reputation by making it look like she was the one who did it? Something about that dude isn't right.
Pilar is right. This dude is major trouble. Not only to Isa but to her kids as well. Something in my gut clenched whenever my wife brought him up.
It was like a radar going off. People thought that Pilar didn't like him because of that one time we caught Isa and him in a compromising position back when they were teenagers but that isn't it. She is right that dude isn't all there.
"Mande," I answered as I walked over to him. (What)
"¿Qué está pasando contigo? Has estado muy distraído durante las prácticas esta semana… ¿Está bien tu esposa?" He asked, concerned. (What is going on with you? You have been very distracted during practice this week ... Is your wife okay?)
I sighed, wiping my face again. "Mi cuñada regresó después de haber desaparecido por once años. No nos había dicho porque se fue, hasta anoche, y pues estamos preocupados por ella y sus hijos…" I explained. (My sister-in-law returned after being missing for eleven years. She hadn't told us why she left, until last night, and we are worried about her and her children…)
He nodded in understanding before sighing,
"Podrás jugar hoy o necesito sacarte?" He asked. (Are you going to be able to play today or do I need to take you out?)
"Creo que voy a jugar." I promised, before turning and heading back to finish my drills. (I think I'll play.)
After practice I found myself heading to the gym to let off some steam before the game instead of heading home to check on the kids.
I was on the treadmill running when I felt a towel drop on my shoulders as a hand slapped the button on the machine, causing it to slow before completely coming to a stop.
"Está bien, eso es suficiente, ¿qué está pasando contigo?" Cris asked, as I let out a breath and wiped my face off with a towel. (Alright that's enough, what is going on with you?)
I sighed debating on whether or not to tell him. Then again I knew if I didn't talk to someone soon, I would end up blowing up on someone else. "¿Te acuerdas de mi cuñada?" I asked, as he offered me a bottle of water, as I sat down on one of the workout benches. (Do you remember my sister-in-law?)
"No creo que la recuerde… ¿Estaba ella allí cuando te casaste?" He asked, as his brow furrowed. (I don't think I remember her. Was she there when you got married?)
"Por supuesto que ella estaba ahí, idiota. ¿No recuerdas al gilipollas que estaba con ella?" I remarked, smacking him on the back of the head. (Of course, she was there, dumbass. Don't you remember the asshole who was with her?)
I sighed, getting to my feet. I was running out of time, I still needed to go get something to eat before the game. "¿Era él el tipo que prácticamente la arrastró fuera del lugar? Pilar casi lo mata allí mismo…" I said, smiling at the memory. (Was he the guy who practically dragged her out of the place? Pilar almost killed him there and then.)
That was the one day I got to hit the asshole. A year later Isa left with him and sometime after that she disappeared, only visiting once during the Christmas holiday. That asshole has a lot to pay for. Pilar suffered a lot after she disappeared.
"¡Ah! Ahora lo recuerdo ... O sí, ya lo recuerdo.¿Aquel cuya nariz le rompiste?" He asked, chuckling in amusement. (Ah. I remember now ... Oh yeah, I remember him. The one whose nose you broke?)
"Hubiera hecho más que romperle la nariz si mi suegro no me hubiera detenido.." I muttered, annoyed. (I would have done more than broken his nose if my father-in-law hadn't stopped me.)
"¿Qué te tiene tan preocupado? ¿No se casó con el tipo?" Cris asked, confused. (What has got you so worried? Didn't she marry the dude?)
"She did," I confirmed, with a scoff. "But the dude cheated on her throughout that time. She divorced him shortly after…" I began to explain.
"Entonces, ¿por qué diablos estás tan preocupado? Hermano, están divorciados, problema resuelto." Cris replied, not comprehending what I was trying to say. (Then why the hell are you so worried? Brother, they are divorced, problem solved.)
"Ese no es el problema, hombre. El problema es que se enteró de que estaba embarazada después que lo dejó. El tipo no quería tener nada que ver con ellos, y ahora me preocupa que este tipo intente hacer algo a ella o los niños. Que él no la deje de molestar." I explained.(That is not the problem, man. The problem is, she found out she was pregnant after she left him. The guy didn't want to have anything to do with them, and now I'm worried that this guy might try to do something to her or the kids. May he not stop bothering her.)
Cris whistled, his eyes widening in concern.
"Parece que ese tipo suena peligroso." He said. (It sounds like that dude is dangerous.)
"Si, no es broma." I muttered, heading towards the locker rooms to shower. (Yeah, no kidding.)
*Time Skip*
(Just After The Game)
The guys cheered at our new victory.
I smiled at their shenanigans as I made my way towards my locker, only to find I had a message from Pilar.
She wrote. (Natti and Santi wish to meet their uncle's team. Is that possible?)
Dame un momento. Deja les pregunto. I replied, looking around to ask them, only to realize they were still by the door. (Give me a minute. Let me ask them.)
I quickly made my way towards where the guys sat talking before I asked them.
They surprisingly all agreed, smiling as Cris told them of the last time my kids asked the same thing.
I replied before rushing towards the showers to wash off the sweat from the game from myself. (Give us twenty minutes, then take them to the lounge room on this floor.)
I smiled knowing that Natti and Santi were probably excited to finally be able to meet the team, since they had been asking to meet the team since they turned seven.
"Oye,¿Vino también tu cuñada?" He asked, as I finished changing and began slipping on my shoes before I tied them. (Hey, did your sister-in-law come too?)
"Por supuesto que a venido ella, idiota. ¿Dónde más estaría ella?" I asked him, amused. (Of course, she came, you idiot. Where else would she be?)
He shrugged as he bit the side of his cheek amused , trying to pretend to be nonchalant.
"¿Deberíamos empezar a dirigirnos al salón al final del pasillo?" Dani asked me as I slid on my sweater. (Should we start heading to the lounge down the hall?)
We all silently made our way towards the lounge and sat down to wait for Pilar and Isa to arrive with the kids. As we waited I quickly got their attention and spoke quietly to them.
"Necesito pedirles un favor a ustedes …" I said, as my eyes flickered towards the door. (I need to ask you guys for a favor.)
"Que es?" Dani asked. (What is it?)
"Cual?"James asked (Which one?)
"Por favor, no coqueteen con mi cuñada…" I said, looking at all of them, specifically Cris with a raised brow, who chuckled and shrugged in response. (Please don't flirt with my sister-in-law.)
They watched our exchange before agreeing.
Just as we all stood Rene rushed in with the kids, Junior in his arms.
"¿Qué es lo que pasa? ¿Dónde están Pilar e Isa?" I asked, concerned as I tried to take the baby from him. (What is going on? Where are Pilar and Isa?)
"Hay un problema afuera. Ha aparecido el exmarido de Isa. Te necesitan ahí fuera. Rápidamente." He urged rushing the kids further into the room. (There is a problem outside. Isa's ex-husband has shown up. They need you out there. Quickly.)
I rushed past them, looking at Santi and Natti for a moment before walking out the doors.
"We'll come with you." Cris said, motioning for Lucas to follow us out.
As we walked out the door, the tension in the room was clearer than the nose on my face, and then Isa spoke tensely.
I couldn't believe that asshole had the balls to show his face here. After everything that he had done to Isa. By the looks of it this asshole had shown up with two of his cronies. Demetri Bertelli, and his younger brother Felix.
"You said everything you needed to say when I called you, two years ago. There is nothing more to say now. So please leave." Isa said tensely.
Two years? I thought she hadn't seen him since she left him. Fuck, what more is she fucking hiding?
My mind struggled to think of what to do before my eyes fell on Pilar. Fuck, she was about to blow.
End this now!
"But—" the asshole began but I needed to get him out of here before Pilar blew a gasket.
"I believe my little sister told you to leave. I suggest you do so before I have you escorted off the premises." I said, cooly, trying to growl at the asshole, as I wrapped an arm around my wife.
I didn't like the way he or his cronies were eyeing my wife or my little sister. They needed to get out of here.
"Look, this between me and her. You need to mind your business, Ramos." He growled, his eyes narrowing angrily at me as his nostrils flaring as he spoke.
I scoffed at his response, as I fought with the urge I had to kick his ass but squashed it. "You made this between all of us when you decided to be an asshole to her, so please leave or I'll make you leave." I threatened taking a step towards them, only to be held back by Pilar.
"Calmate." I heard Pilar whisper. (Calm down)
"This isn't over. I'll be seeing you on the field real soon Ramos." He threatened, as the security guards shoved him backward.
"That's enough. Security!" I heard Rene call, suddenly.
"I'll be waiting! ¡Gilipollas! ¡Yo no te tengo miedo!" I called after him. (Asshole! I'm not scared of you!)
"Ey! Ey! Calmate! Come on, we need to check on the children." Cris said, roughly guiding me into the lounge with the kids. (Hey! Hey! Calm down!)
As soon as I stepped in, Natti and Santi walked over to me, hugging me tightly.
I sighed, closing my eyes for a moment before I looked back at Rene. "¿A dónde se fueron ellas ahora?" I asked him, quietly. (Where did they go now?)
"Han ido a hablar solas." He replied, as he set Junior down in his stroller. (They have gone to speak alone.)
I nodded sighing once more, before kneeling down to look at both of them in the eye.
"Estan bien?" I asked them, concerned. (Are you two alright?)
Natti nodded, clearly worried about her mom when she realized she had not returned yet. "Y mi mama?" She asked. (Where is my mom?)
"Está con tu tía, ya viene. No te preocupes." I assured her, as I moved a few loose hairs in the back of her ears. (She is with your aunt, she'll be back. Don't worry.)
"Can I meet your friends now?" She asked as a smile appeared on her little face.
I chuckled and nodded, "Si espera allí, el tío Rene te llevará en un momento." I said. (If you wait there, Uncle Rene will take you in a moment.)
She nodded, smiling as she went to stand by Alejandro and Marco.
I stood back up before gesturing to my brother. "Lleva a Natti y a los niños a que hablen con el equipo. Yo necesito hablar a solas con Santiago." I quietly told him. (Take Natti and the kids to talk to the team. I need to speak alone with Santiago.)
He nodded before telling the kids to follow him as they walked over to where the guys were waiting to speak to them.
I smiled, before silently holding my hand out to Santi. "¿Te gustaría dar un paseo conmigo, Santi?" I asked him with a small smile. (Would you like to take a short walk with me, Santi?)
He looked up at me with an expressionless look before sighing and taking my hand.
We exited the lounge, and walked down the hall, and into the stadium, before taking a seat.
"Puedo ver que lo que pasó te molestó. ¿Quieres hablar acerca de ello?" I asked him as he stared into the large stadium in wonder. (I can see that what happened bothered you. Do you want to talk about it?)
I expected him to be angry, hurt , but I didn't expect for him to turn to be and ask, "Tío Gio soy una mala persona?" (Uncle Gio am I a bad person?)
I gaped at him for a moment before clearing my throat. "¿Por qué demonios me preguntas eso?" I asked him, confused. (Why in the hell would you ask me that?)
"Entonces, ¿por qué nuestro padre actúa como si fuéramos lo peor del mundo?" He asked tearfully. (Then why does our dad act like we are the worst thing in the world.)
'Hijo De Puta! Ahora si lo mato!' I think angrily. (Son of a bitch! I will kill him now!)
"Santi, tú y tu hermana, son dos de las mejores cosas que le sucedieron a esta familia y a tu mamá. Si tu papá no puede ver eso, entonces esa es su pérdida. Nunca dudes de eso hijo." I said, honestly, pulling him in for a hug. (Santi, you and your sister, are two of the best things that happened to this family and to your mother. If your dad can't see that, then that is his loss. Never doubt that, son.)
As I pulled him he clung to be harder than either of my sons ever have, shaking as he cried into my neck.
I hugged him back just as tightly as I thought of a way to make him feel better.
That asshole had done more than a number on them. He made them feel bad about wanting to be with him. About wanting love from their father.
"Hey champ, want to know something else?" I asked, pulling away.
"What?" He asked sniffling, as he wiped his face with his tears.
"You'll always have me and your tia." I promised, giving him a small smile.
"Really?" He asked, cheering up instantly. "Do you promise?" He asked a moment later.
"Of course, I promise, champ. Now, what do you say we go meet the rest of the team?" I asked, smirking as he jumped to his feet.
"Si, vamos! Vamos!" He squealed, smiling widely. Tears long forgotten. (Yes, let's go! Let's go!)
He ran ahead of me as we made our way back to the lounge.
Rene was bouncing the baby as he watched the kids interact with the team. Natti and Santi both seemed to be feeling much better now.
"Ey. ¿Cómo está el campeón de papi?" I asked, pulling the baby into my arms as he gave me a toothless grin. (Hey. How is daddy's little champ?)
"Que paso?" Rene asked me quietly. (What happened?)
I shake my head at him, "Ese tipo hizo mas daño de lo que no imaginábamos." I told him, shaking my head and scoffing as I heard the door open. (That guy did more damage than we could ever imagine.)
"Sergio, tengo que hablar contigo." I heard Pilar say a moment later, causing me to turn. (Sergio, I have to speak to you.)
"¿Qué ha pasado?" I asked. (What has happened?)
She looked at me tearfully, before proceeding to inform me of what Isa had just told her, and for once in my life I truly didn't know what to do.
