Charlie's PoV:
I paced back and forth as I waited for him to arrive. What the hell was taking him so long? This is Isabella we were talking about. She had always done things by the book. Always. So, what could have caused her lawyer's professional license to get revoked? Something is very wrong here.
But what is it?
As Eleazar and Nicolas rushed in with two large files along with a cd in a plastic casing, setting everything on my desk before taking a seat.
I had been expecting Eleazar to get here sometime after mid-noon but he seemed to arrive just a bit before. Just as well, we need to sort through all of the information Marcus had gotten his hands on from the Masen v. Rubio-Masen divorce filings along with all of the participants.
I sighed feeling an overwhelming wave crash onto me as I slowly began to scan through the first file. Hmmm, just how much influence did Edward Masen Sr. have over that government?
I frowned as I scanned all the information within that file before I turned to look at the cd wondering what it possibly could contain before sliding the cd into my computer, waiting as the files slowly began to open, and gasping at the information that I saw come onto the screen.
"What is wrong, Charles?" I heard Eleazar ask, concerned.
"Get Caius on the phone he is going to want to see this," I told them, throwing the file towards them before pressing the intercom. "Gretchen, I need you to book me a flight to Madrid, as soon as possible," I said as I rushed to my feet, shoving everything into my briefcase, and grabbed my coat from the back of my chair.
I had to go see Isabella and fast.
(Isa's Pov ):
Seeing my children once more and having them back in my arms made me almost forget about everything else. All my worries about this fucked-up situation seemed to practically melt away as I felt their arms wrap around my neck, after seeing me walk into the room.
I knew that spending time with them would help me immensely, and even though I was extremely annoyed with my family at the moment for babying me, I knew that they were doing this because they believed it would be good for me and my children.
Marcus gave me the next few weeks off upon finding out about what had happened this past week.
So, now, here we were, while Gio and Pilar tried to explain to me what was about to happen. As it turns out they had a dinner party planned prior to learning of my arrival.
" Isa, por favor, ¿no puedes ser tan difícil? Son solo algunos de los compañeros de equipo de Sergio y sus seres queridos. ¿Qué tiene eso de incómodo? Sus hijos también estarán aquí." Pilar explained, sighing tiredly.( Isa, please, can you not be so difficult. It's just a few of Sergio's teammates and their significant others. What is so uncomfortable about that? Their kids will be here too.)
"Espera, no se trata de que tengas que estar allí. Se trata de otra cosa. ¿Qué ocurre?" She asked after she noticed my silence stretch on. (Wait, this isn't about you having to be there. This is about something else. What's wrong?)
I sighed, turning to look away from her questioning gaze as Gio let out an amused laugh.
"¿Que? ¿Qué pasa? Por que te ries?" My sister asked, confused as she turned to look at her husband, with a raised brow, and her hands on her hips. (What? What is it? Why are you laughing?)
"Me río porque le dije a Isa que Cris parece estar interesada en ella, y ahora está tratando de evitar al pobre idiota." He explained, chuckling as a blush covered my cheeks. (I am laughing because I told Isa that Cris seems to be interested in her, and now she is trying to avoid the poor sap.)
"¿En serio? ¿Cómo lo sabes? ¿Puedes probar lo que estás diciendo? ¿Cuáles son tus intenciones con mi hermana?" She asked, walking closer to him. (Really? How do you know? Can you prove what you are saying ? What are your intentions with my sister?)
"Oye, espera un minuto. Nunca dije que me lo dijo. Solo dije que parecía interesado, me di cuenta por la forma en que siempre pregunta por ella y la mira fijamente cuando está cerca de él." Gio said, causing me to blush even more. (Hey, wait a minute. I never said he told me. I just said he seemed interested, I could tell by the way he always asks for her and stares at her when she's around him.)
"Mentiroso." I scoff, moving to get up before I feel my sister's hand fall on my shoulder. (Liar.)
"No creo que esté mintiendo, lo presencié por mí misma el otro día cuando te llevamos al hospital después del incidente del otro día." She said, giving me a small reassuring smile. (I don't think he is lying, I witnessed it for myself the other day when we took you to the hospital after the incident the other day.)
I shake my head, trying to avoid their stares as I try not to think of the last person I trusted, who ended up being the total opposite of what we all were lead to believe.
"He is not Masen. He won't hurt you, because he has been hurt before too. You don't need to overthink this. Take your time, I am sure he will understand." My sister said, giving me a pat on the leg before getting up and walking out to the backyard to smile at the children.
"She's right, you know," Gio added before following her out.
I scoffed, running my fingers through my hair, "Jackass." I muttered before following them out.
