They both let out excited squeals, causing me to jump and crash into Cris as he started laughing in amusement and shook his head at me.
"Càllate." I muttered embarrassed as he laughed harder causing me to pout and turn away from them. (Shut up.)
"No te enojes, es malo para la criatura." My mother chastised me, as she offered me a glass of water. (Don't get mad, it's bad for the baby.)
When had she left the room? Where did that cup come from?
"No, gracias. No tengo sed." I replied as I moved away from them. (No, thank you. I'm not thirsty.)
"El agua te hace bien. Deberías tomar un poco." My mother said, pointedly. (The water is good for you. You should drink a little bit.)
I sighed, refraining from rolling my eyes as the kids all rushed into the room.
Just as I was beginning to debate whether or not to go back to my room, Natti rushed towards me excitedly.
"Mami, ¿podemos meternos a la piscina a nadar un poco?" Natti asked as she looked around the room confused as she made her way towards me. (Mommy can we get into the pool to swim for a little while?)
Sergio smiled in response, "Claro que si, mi princesa hermosa. Vayan a cambiar se. Y esperen me junto de la piscina. Ya salgo en un momento." He said as all the kids smiled at him. (Of course, my beautiful princess, Go change, and wait for me next to the pool. I'll be out in a minute.)
She smiled delightedly up at him before pulling Santi with her, as he rolled his eyes.
As soon as they left the room everyone turned back towards me.
"¿Cuándo les dirás?" My mother asked, concerned. (When will you be telling them?)
I frowned, staring down at my feet for a moment before sighing. "No sé." I whispered. (I don't know.)
"Supongo que será una vez que ustedes decidan que quieren hacer…" my mother said. (I guess it will be once you decide what you want to do…)
"Ya hemos decidido." Cris spoke, as he pulled me to his side. (We already decided.)
"¿Oh? ¿Y qué decidieron hacer ustedes dos?" My mother asked, raising a brow at me. (Oh? And what did you two decide?)
"Decidimos que esperaremos hasta que yo regrese del partido fuera de casa para contárselo." He replied, calmly. (We decided that we will wait until after I return from the away game to tell them.)
"Creo que ustedes dos saben que no me refiero a contarles a los niños sobre el embarazo. A lo que me refiero es ... ¿Están planeando casarse ustedes dos? ¿Criar al bebé juntos? ¿Qué vas a hacer? Porque parece que ustedes dos no saben lo que van a hacer." She replied, in a questioning manner. (I think you two know that I am not referring to telling the children about the pregnancy. What I am referring to is ... are you two planning to get married? Raise the baby together? What are you going to do? Because you two look like you don't know what you are going to do.)
I felt my shoulders tense as I looked at her, suddenly wanting to go back to the room. I, however, didn't dare move because I felt Cris's hand squeeze my shoulder.
"Mira, mamá, me enteré de esto hace menos de una hora. ¿Crees que si hubiera sabido la respuesta a cualquiera de esas preguntas, habría estado llorando no hace cinco minutos?" I asked her, causing her eyes to widen. (Look, mom , I just found out about this less than an hour ago. Do you think if I knew the answer to any of those questions, I would have been crying not five minutes ago?)
"Isa, solo estoy tratando de ayudarlos a ustedes dos. No quise insinuar nada al hacerte esas preguntas." She replied, gently. (Isa, I am only trying to help you two. I didn't mean to insinuate anything by asking you those questions.)
"Si mamá. Sé que no quiso decir nada al hacer esas preguntas. Pero tienes que entender que la situación en la que estoy es muy estresante. Los Masen harán cualquier cosa para meterse en nuestras vidas. No puedo correr el riesgo de que alguien se entere del bebé. Podrían usar esto para su beneficio." I explained, swallowing thickly. (Yes, mom. I know you didn't mean anything by asking those questions. But you have to understand that the predicament I'm in is very stressful. The Masens will do anything to worm their way into our lives. I can't run the risk of anyone finding out about the baby. They could use this for their benefit.)
"Tiene que haber algo que podamos hacer al respecto. Especialmente si la vida del bebé está en riesgo. ¿Por qué no llamamos a Charles?" Gio asked. (There has to be something we can do about this. Especially if the baby's life is at risk. Why don't we call Charles?)
"Estaba planeando llamarlo hoy más tarde." I whispered. (I was planning to call him later today.)
"No se preocupe por eso. Lo llamaré ahora. Ve a sentarte a descansar, mientras Sergio y Pilar van a ver a los niños." My mother said as she went towards the kitchen. (Don't worry about it. I will call him now. You go sit and get some rest, while Sergio and Pilar go check on the kids.)
I sighed, tiredly, as Cris nodded, and led me towards the couch.
"No te preocupes, todo saldrá bien." He promised as he sat down in front of me, holding my hand in his as I sighed and leaned back. (Don't worry, everything will be fine.)
I heard as Gio and Pilar walked out of the room before groaning and dropping my head back onto the cushion, as I closed my eyes.
"No te preocupes, dulzura. Me aseguraré de que no les pase nada a ninguno de ustedes." He said when I didn't reply. (Don't worry, sweetness. I'll make sure nothing happens to any of you.)
I nodded, before slowly opening my eyes. "No me preocupa que intenten algo conmigo o con los niños. Me preocupa que haga algo cuando ustedes dos jueguen entre sí." I finally said. (I'm not worried about them trying something on me or the kids. I'm worried that he'll do something when you two play against each other.)
"Si lo hace, me ocuparé de él. No necesitas preocuparte por mí, yo puedo cuidarme solo." He replied with a smile. (If he does, I'll handle him. You don't need to worry about me, I can take care of myself.)
"Por supuesto. Bueno, ya que puedes cuidarte solo. Yo puedo también. Lo que significa que me dejarás manejarlo por mi cuenta." I replied, smiling amused at him, as I pulled my hand from his grasp. (Of course. Well, since you can take care of yourself. I can too. Meaning you will let me handle it on my own. )
"No, absolutamente no." He said, shaking his head vehemently. (No. Absolutely not.)
"Bien, entonces prométeme algo." I replied softly. (Fine, then promise me something.)
"¿Que?" He asked, grabbing my hand into his again. (What?)
"No dejes que sus palabras te afecten." I finally said. (Don't let his words get to you.)
He stared at me, expressionlessly, before sighing and nodding in agreement. "De acuerdo. No dejaré que sus palabras me afecten." He finally said. (Alright. I won't let his words affect me.)
