Chapter 4 – Meeting the captain and the squad
Hi guys! Apologies for taking so long with the chapter, it's hard to write, when you are also working
Anyway, I would also like to make a few mentions:
· The characters might be OOC, especially Esdeath, as it is not possible to make her act and be 100% as the one from Akame Ga Kill
· Second, the story will probably go into the same direction as the one from AOT, with a few changes
· Third, if you have any suggestions, feel free to write them in the review.
Please also excuse my grammar/ sentences mistakes. English is not my first language.
I do not own any characters from AOT or Akame Ga Kill.
Now enjoy
Esdeath couldn't sleep, no matter how hard she tried, as her thoughts just wouldn't let her rest. She was unsure of what to do in order to go back to the Empire, but also had the strangest feeling that returning back would be a truly mistake, like things were not the same as before. It might had been possible that her mind had forgotten something important, perhaps the very reason which led to waking up in this world.
Sitting now on the edge of the bed and starring blankly into the darkness, Esdeath seemed to realize that for the first time in her life, there was a problem for which that brilliant mind of the greatest general had no solution.
"I have to get out of here somehow, one way or another…", she whispered to herself, being convinced that this life will not will not bring the excitement she craved and needed. The war this people were living was noting in comparison to the one from the Empire, and the Titans were still alive due to the fact that this world didn't have any strong soldiers to defeat them. She could have done it, even without any powers, as her abilities were already considered to be amazing and remarkable, which made the others respect and be afraid at the same time.
An she was deeply involved in her thoughts, a knock on the door brought Esdeath back to her senses. Someone was stupid enough to come and bother her of all people at this hour. She had the privilege of sleeping alone, as it was clearly, they couldn't let someone on whom they had not many information about sleep in the same barracks as the others cadets, which was understanding after all.
Walking to the door and opening it, she did no recognize the person. In front of her, stood a young man she had never seen before. He was shorter than with at least 10 centimeters, looking even younger than most of the soldiers she had encountered. His hair was black, short and straight, styled in an undercut curtain. His eyes were grey, narrow and intimidating, with dark circles under them, due to the lack of sleep.
- You and I need to talk, brat," he finally said, breaking the awkward silence. Esdeath laughed.
-I think you got the wrong person. I don't think you and I would have anything to talk about, so you'd better leave before I change my mind and make you regret bothering me.
She was about to close the door, but he put his right foot in the doorway.
-Are you deaf or what? When I said we had to talk, that was an order, he said, sounding more irritated, while Esdeath just grinned. As short as he was, this guy had some nerves, so she decided to let him in. If he was going to be a nuisance, she was determined to knock his head off without hesitation.
--
- Who the hell are you?
They were sitting at a table, face to face. He had rested his hand on the back of the chair and was looking at her without any expression on his face, while she was watching him with interest.
- I could ask you the same thing. After all, you were the one that came all the way to see me apparently
He remained silent for a minute and then sighed.
-Listen brat, I do not have time for stories, but I am also not as stupid as the others to trust someone who came out of nowhere and beat two Titans with a sword she took from a dead man, you know?
That only made Esdeath roll her eyes.
- I'm flattered you came here just to interrogate me. I think you already know my name and I know yours, so we can skip the boring introduction ... but I still didn't expect the best soldier here to be so short, beside being short-tempered.
She had insulted him on purpose. If he thought that he was going to obtain any information from her so easily, then it was clear he never met anyone like her till now.
That annoyed him. Seems that was a sensitive topic, probably due to being teased a lot on the height matter.
-And maybe you should cover those tits. I would have thought you were a bitch or something, as real soldiers do not dress like that.
Esdeath rose from her chair, grabbed him fast by the collar and slammed him directly on the table, placing herself on top of him.
-You have a big mouth for someone so small, don't you think? I have made people regret for even looking at me, so better watch what will come next on that mouth of yours.
His face was emotionless. He didn't seem to be afraid, and that made Esdeath want to hurt him even more, until he gave in and begged for mercy.
She was, however, surprised when he grabbed her by the collar of her uniform and pulled her so close that their noses almost touched.
-Should that have impressed me? Only someone weak and good for nothing would try to impose himself using fear.
Now, that was a first when someone talked back to her. She got off him and sat back on the chair. It was hard to ignore his words and not kill him as slowly as possible so that she could at least enjoy every moment, but she was sure that would not solve anything. There was a way though to make him swallow his words and which could also provide some entertainment for her.
- Take me on just one mission. Then, we will see who truly is the weak one here, unless you are too afraid that I will do better…Levi.
--
Esdeath had entered in a spacious room and met the eyes of the so-called squad of Levi. There were four soldiers, three men and a small woman who seemed quite eager to meet her. From the few information she had managed to hear from others about them in that training, these people were capable of killing any Titan in their way. But usually, these types of rumors are not true at all. In the Empire, she was told so many stories about strong people, that could even move the mountains with only a snap from their fingers…till they were confronted by her, of course. And they turned out to be just cowards that begged her on their knees to spare their pathetic life. She gave all of them a violent death from wasting her time.
Still, maybe this team was going to impress her, it wasn't like there was something better to do anyway than to wait and see what their first mission was going to be like.
- So, you're Esdeath, huh?
She looked in the direction of the man who asked that, seeing the blush on his cheeks as soon as his gaze met hers.
- You guessed right, do you want a reward now or what?
- Pff, I don't think you could give me a reward that suits me, darling.
"Darling," that word annoyed her. It was something often heard when she enlisted in the Empire's army. She was about to hit him hard in the face when the small woman interrupted them:
- Please excuse Oluo, most of the time he doesn't think when he speaks, but you will get used to it. I'm Petra, and the other two are Ed and Günther, she said with a smile. The other two just looked at her, without saying anything.
- Captain Levi have informed us that you will go with us beyond the walls. It's not very common for a newbie to go so fast, considering that it takes three years before you can enlist in the Survey Corps, but since you've already killed two titans, I guess it is…
- No inexperienced person kills two Titans, Petra, interrupted Eld, turning his gaze to Esdeath.
- You've done this before, haven't you?
- Let's just say my experience is far beyond yours," Esdeath said, taking a seat on one of the chairs.
- There are uglier and more destructive things than these Titans, things that are much harder to kill and that would take your life in an instant. Comparing to you, I can assure you that I am going to do a better job at killing Titans than any of you.
She didn't want to go into too many details, being aware that no one here would have believed her anyway. The uncertainty in her words was seen already on their faces.
Oluo wanted to add something, when the door suddenly opened and Levi entered. He studied the room for a few minutes, before turning to them with a disappointed look.
- This place is a mess ... I said clearly that I expected it to be clean when I would come back...
Esdeath wanted to laugh. This was something new, as she never met a leader who was passionate about cleaning, noticing how the others began to prepare the buckets and rags. It must have been common for them to do that.
- And what do you think you're doing? Take a rag and a bucket and get to work! This place doesn't clean itself.
This order was for her. It was the first time anyone had ordered her to clean. She looked at him, and he at her. He wasn't a person you could have easily read, but he probably was astonished when she got up and did exactly as he told him without saying anything back. She now felt like the lower class, but at least no one in the Empire would see how the most powerful general was moping the floor, at the orders on someone who was 10 centimeters shorter. She didn't think there could be anything worse than this, though.
