As the days passed, Esdeath began to be warier of Captain Levi's preoccupation with cleanliness. She didn't think that she was the only one who felt like that, but the others were just too frightened to argue. And it wasn't like he was always around, because for the most part he was gone, with so-called various things to do, but no one even dared to ask him where he was going and why.

Still, Esdeath had a vague suspicion that wherever he was going, it was more intriguing than this place, otherwise, he would have shown his exhausted face more frequently here. She missed being able to do that, to leave and come as she pleased, but in a way, you couldn't say these people had too much freedom at all with the Titans roaming around all the time.

Esdeath woke up to the sound of thunder. She rubbed her eyes and stared out of the window. There was some lightning at first, after which a dreadful rain began, which made her smile. She recalled the successful battles she had fought in the heavy rain, how her adversaries fell covered in blood, giving their final breath in the muddy earth, a demise that fitted them, considering that they were a waste of the Empire.

She got out of bed gradually and chose to go out, to watch the rain. No one appeared to be awake anymore, so at the very least she could have a personal moment of peace and reflection.

Stepping lightly outside, Esdeath did not catch the sight of the figure leaning against the wall of the barrack at first.

But after a few moments, it didn't take too long for her to recognize who it was. Leaning against the opposite wall, beginning to watch the rain, she only threw a small glance at him.

He didn't even appear to acknowledge that she was there, as he was only starring blankly ahead.

They stood for a few moments in total silence, unsettled only by the noises of the raindrops, until he spoke:

-Were you in the mood for a bath, brat?

- I could ask you the same thing. Were you also waiting for some company to join you as well?

She turned her head towards Levi, but he was still gazing straight ahead.

In the dim light of the two lanterns, his traits could have been distinguished and she felt that he recalled her of someone...someone that had some sort of meaning, but no matter how hard she attempted to think of that, it didn't make her remember. In fact, many things just faded away from her memory since she awoke in this place, but she considered that they were not worthy to recollect and he peperhaps just reminded her of a soldier in the Empire, that was all.

- You should go back to sleep. We are leaving the wall first thing in the morning.

- What about you? Shouldn't you be sleeping as well, since you are the captain after all?

Levi sighed and shifted his gaze to her. From the minute he met her, he realized she was going to be a pain in the ass, yet he was extremely interested to see for himself what she was capable of. He hadn't been attending the conversation between Erwin and Keith, but he found Erwin intrigued afterward, and all he had told him was to keep an eye on her when they would be leaving the Wall, as Esdeath was not to be underestimated...

He then unexpectedly woke up with his back against the wall and one hand grabbing his shirt collar. Esdeath licked her lips and smirked.

-You were staring at me so insistently, I thought I should allow you to get a nicer look.

She lowered her face to his level, and their eyes confronted each other. Her blue gaze was so piercing, that for a brief moment, he felt like she could see through him. Then she brought her face even closer to his, being now able to feel her breath, grabbing him by the collar even tighter, not wanting to allow him to escape. For a few seconds, they remained like that...

Then her heart began to pound oddly and achingly. Her mind recalled for a few instants some ambiguous recollections, which were more of a mist, but in which she was holding a person in the same way, but with no purpose of doing anything harmful to it, which was strange coming from her. More strangely was that as she was holding the collar of Levi, the person from her mind was beginning to reveal the same traits as his.

She didn't understand why these manifestations were just now coming to her mind, but at the same time, she felt that her whole body was colder than usual.

Levi could also feel the coldness, and his unemotional face began to vanish. He was stunned and staring at her more carefully, seeing that she was somewhat lost. This woman was more screwed up even than Hange, and that was precisely what he didn't need right now.

Realizing he was still pinned to the wall, he managed to free himself and she snapped suddenly out of that so-called trance.

She put a hand to her forehead and in a hurry, she stepped back into the barrack, without giving him another look. If she had, she would have not only noticed the shock but also the interest on his face as he touched the collar of his shirt and felt the ice shaping on the edges of it.
