Esdeath powers are indeed started to appear and Levi will play a major role in that :D I want to make them interact more with each other in future chapters.

Chapter 6 – Beyond the Wall – part 2

She could not sleep after what happened. She was not yet aware of what Levi thought about that...but why would she even care? That was frustrating...this place was changing her, and for the first time, she started to be afraid of what would happen next if she was not going to find a way to return...

-Oi, get up already and start preparing the carriages and horses!

- Give me 5 more minutes..., muttered Oluo, hiding his head under the covers. The others were already getting out of the bed, yawning and stretching their backs in an attempt to wake up. Esdeath was never taken by surprise, but when Levi approached her with a uniform in his hands, not revealing any sight of apprehension after what happened last night, she assumed that either he was out of his mind or that she had hallucinated the whole thing.

- Wear it or you are not joining this expedition. And with that, he left. He just handled her the fucking uniform and he left...which in a way it made her feel odd. That man certainly had guts and was incompatible with the others, and she could not deny that she enjoyed that a little...maybe a little more. She was going to play along for a while as she did and listen to his orders. However, when the right time would come, he would be the one kissing her boots and listening to her every command. The uniform was decent and not as pleasant as she thought it will be, but not fit for a general thought. Not even the soldiers from the Empire would have worn something like that.

- Oh...so I have become weaker than those soldiers, huh? Her obsession with the Empire was going to drive her insane. She decided to try and neglect that topic for a little while. Maybe that will have a favorable effect on her teigu, maybe that was the solution...

- Oh, so you are Esdeath?! And you already killed two Titans even though you had no experience?! That's amazing!

- Oi, Hange, leave her alone or she might bite you.

- Haha, if she didn't bite you till now, I am sure I will be fine.

Esdeath just preferred to ignore their remarks for now, as she was focusing on studying the squad. That woman Hange sure had bizarre behavior and was more optimistic than most of the soldiers. Even the ones from Levi's squad were tense, although they had experienced how is beyond the walls. The one that was in charge of all of these people was not Levi, as she assumed, but a man named Erwin. When she met him, he wasn't surprised to see her, so Esdeath was aware that he already knew about her. He only shook her hand and told her that he would be looking forward to seeing her well-known skills, that he had heard about. She already had in mind to use the skills that she possessed, certainly, but not to impress him. Levi was the only person that appeared to doubt her and she was looking forward to seeing his face when she would prove that he is worthless in comparison to her. She looked at him, as he was before her. Hange was beside him, while she was beside Petra, that guy Oluo, and Gunther and Eld behind them, along with a few unknown soldiers. Esdeath could feel their nervousness, as she understood that no matter how much experience these people had, they were never ready to confront the world beyond the walls. But then the gates were opened...

-Advance, my soldiers! shouted Erwin full of courage. ...and they made their way on the Titans territory.

They rode for at least half an hour and remained in the exact formation, as there was no sight of any Titan. "This is such a waste of time", thought Esdeath, as she was looking around in the distance at the enormous trees that were rising and the green areas that spread as far as the eye could see.

- It seems we are in luck, today, Captain. Maybe we can surpass the distance from last time, said Eld smiling.

- Pff, I was aiming to slaughter some Titans and show Esdeath what a real soldi., but he didn't manage to finish his sentence, as he had bit his tongue. That made Esdeath smile, hoping that he bit it hard enough to never talk again.

- I thought you grew up already and learned how to not bite your tongue, said Petra with a small smile on her face. Also acted as if he didn't hear the remark and as if nothing happened.

- What is the purpose of this expedition? Esdeath was interested in finding the explanation. She assumed that this squad's objective was to kill as many Titans, as to conquer more land for the advancement of humanity. Otherwise, what would be the significance of hiding all your life within a wall that might have been easily destroyed? Were they all truly so weak and hopeless?

- Well, this one is more of a small expedition, Esdeath. As you can see, we do not have so many people now and our resources are limited, so their objectives differ, responded Hange turning her head towards her.

- In this one, we will try to cover up as much as we can of this field, check if the numbers of Titans increased...maybe even catching one alive... When she mentioned the last part, she was grinning and her eyes were almost "glowing".

- Did this answer satisfy your curiosity? asked Levi maintaining his reserved posture.

- Hm? Was it supposed to do that? Or maybe you are intending to personally satisfy me with a more...pleasing one? She knew that that answer was going to irritate him, and when he turned his head towards her, seeing the annoyed expression on his face was all she needed to be satisfied for now.

It was getting dark when they noticed the rising smoke coming from the forest. As they all went in that direction to investigate, lighting unexpectedly hit the ground, causing a strong gust of wind that scared the horses. It suddenly got quiet.

- What the hell was that?

-Is there a storm coming? But the sky is so clear. The soldiers were starting to become agitated. Esdeath looked at Levi. She could tell that he already realized that something was coming towards them fast. Then it finally showed its face, a Titan. It stopped a few meters from them. -It's only one, let's take it down! Three of the soldiers forwarded towards it.

- Get back in line you idiots! shouted Levi, but they ignored his order. When they tried to attack the Titan, nothing happened. The titan was just standing there, being hit, but unaffected. Then it caught the wires of one of the soldiers and crushed him to the ground. The other two continued to try and attack it, but they ended up being crushed between its hands.

-Tch, Erwin take Hange, Esdeath, and the rest as far away from here. That Titan is an Abnormal. Gunther, Petra, Eld, Oluo, you go as well and wait for my signal.

- Yes, captain, shouted them in unison. Esdeath was unaware of what he wanted to do. That Titan's skin appeared to be unusual and impenetrable by the blades they had, and Levi either had a good plan or a foolish one. Still, she was not going to flee like a weakling along with the others. She was not going to avoid such an intriguing opportunity to fight.

Levi did not expect the Titan to avoid him and his squad and to sprint towards Erwin and the others. It was not typical of a Titan, not even for an abnormal to behave in such a manner. He also did not expect Esdeath to direct her horse to it. As the Titan crushed her horse, she used her ODM gear to reach above his head. When The titan looked up, it was hit in the face by her legs with such a strong force that pieces from its face started to fall. Regardless of that, the Titan stretched out its hand and attempted to catch her, but Levi appeared shortly and strike his members, which resulted in its collapse. Nonetheless, the noises produced by that fall attracted other Titans, and more started to appear from the forest. Levi searched for Esdeath and found her laying on the ground. She had no wounds, but her body was freezing. He grabbed her fast in his arms and called his horse. Taking one last look at the titan, he was intrigued to see that Esdeath hit not only smashed his face but also most of its torso...but there weren't just particles from it around, but also portions of ice.
