A/N: I´m so sorry it´s been so long. But I´m back now.
Thanks for being still with me :)
Sydneys POV
"But you can stay here" he said, tilting his head to the side interlacing his fingers with mine. Once again this playful smile played around his lips.
He really was going to be the end of me.
I shook my head "We won´t talk than" I said blushing.
He chuckled and sighed "You´re probably right Sage" he said, slowly releasing my hands.
I quickly moved to his side and took one deep breath. I sat crossed-legged next to him and leaned against the window, putting a little more space between us.
He turned himself towards me and brushed through his hair, giving me a smile, that sent a warm tingly feeling through my body.
For a moment I envied his hand, that was able to touch his soft messy hair.
I once again cleared my throat.
Concentrate Sydney I told myself.
"So..." I began, my voice still a little hoarse.
His features grew serious as he leaned against the steering wheel.
"I guess we can´t keep on driving forever" he said.
I shook my head "But at least we got rid of the phones. For the moment, we should be fine" I said hugging myself.
I suddenly was cold with his body so far away from mine.
He reached for his jacket on the back seat and handed it to me.
I smiled at him and took it
"Aren´t you a gentleman" I said, snuggling into it. For a moment his scent surrounded me so powerfully, that I closed my eyes. It felt like pure Adrian surrounding me.
"Our stuff!" I than exclaimed "It´s still in the motel".
He nodded " I realized that, too a couple of hours ago".
I absently massaged my temples and wrapped the jacked tighter around me.
At least I had taken my bag with me, but what good would do us my credit card? I wasn´t able to use it without risking being tracked. All I had was about 200 $ cash. That wouldn´t last long.
I sighed, feeling kind of defeated.
"How are we on gas?" I asked.
"Not that good to be honest" he replied watching me.
I nodded "What are we going to do Adrian? Where are we going and more important how? We´ll be out of money sooner than we think".
He took my hand but stayed quiet for few moments.
"I know. I´ve been thinking about that. We don´t know if my account is tracked, too. And to be honest, there isn´t really that much on it... I was thinking about reaching out for Lissa" he said looking out the window.
Adrians POV
I really had thought about contacting Lissa and asking her for some kind of help. I still didn´t know what exactly I was going to tell her and how she would actually be able to help, but knowing about the little cash I had in my wallet, it was all I had.
"How would you contact her?" Sydney asked "You don´t have your phone anymore" she reminded me.
"Well, I´m pretty resourceful in contacting people" I said "you know with me being able to visit someone in it´s dreams" I went on.
She nodded " Right, I forgot about that".
"What are you going to tell her?" Sydney asked watching me carefully.
I sighed "I really don´t know" I said truthfully.
We both stayed quiet for the next minutes. Both engrossed in our thoughts.
Sydneys POV
I watched Adrian smother a yawn and I squeezed his hand in mine, what brought his attention back to me.
"Okay. That´s what we are going to do" I began.
"Since we can´t afford some kind of hotel, not even the one we spent our first night at, we´ll have to think about a cheaper alternative. Maybe a tent will do for now. Since we´re in the middle of nowhere, we´ll have to find some kind of civilization first"
He gave me one of his smiles.
"Smart girl. Already figured everything out" he said.
I was about to open the door when he spoke again.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"I´m driving now" I explained.
"No, you sleep" he argued trying really hard to suppress another yawning.
"Yea right" I said chuckling opening the door and quickly got out of the car.
He´d been awake for more than 20 hours now. At least I had gotten some sleep.
I slipped into the car and started the engine. The lights of the car went on and I saw a small crossroad in
front of us.
"Wich direction should we go?" I asked.
He looked to the right and than to the left "That way" he than said pointing to the left.
I nodded "Okay than, let´s go".
Only a few minutes later Adrian was sleeping and the car slowly warmed up.
Every now and than I glanced over to Adrian. Even when he was sleeping he looked drop-dead gorgeous.
The sun, that now had come up was hitting his flawless face, highlighting every edge of his beautiful features. A small smile played around his mouth and it took all control I had, not to stop the car and just admire his beauty.
I kept on driving for the next couple of hours. The little bow on the dashboard was dropping more and more. I really needed to fill up on gas.
I was about to stop the car to get some rest, too, when houses came into sight.
I smiled. Finally some kind of civilization.
Adrians POV
I woke up when I heard the door quietly shut beside me.
I opened my eyes and looked right into Sydneys golden eyes.
"You´re up" she said cheerfully.
"Hardly" I replied, sitting up and taking a look around.
We were parked in front of a small store.
"I already got some essentials" Sydney said, following my gaze.
"I didn´t exactly have a choice here" she went on "they had 2 options when it comes to tents. On the bright side, it didn´t cost that much. Oh and I already asked about a gas station. It´s only a few miles down that road" she said pointing to the left.
Î chuckled. "So I´m sleeping for just a minute and you have already bought a tent, found a gas station and... coffee?" I mused.
She was looking down on the cup of coffee she was holding in her hands.
"It´s a gift" she simply said "If there is coffee somewhere, I find it".
It made me laugh and I pulled her face to me to kiss her.
It was moments like this, that made me almost forget about all the problems we were facing.
I frowned "You changed your clothes?"
"They had a few cloths at the store. I got you some, too" she said grabbing a bag from the back seat and handing it to me.
"Thanks" I said taking a look inside the bag. The content wasn´t exactly glamorous, but what could you expect from a store that was saying they had all from A like aprons to Z like zippers.
She was wearing khaki shorts and a sleeveless white blouse. It seemed a little to big for her and she´d pushed it into her shorts, exposing just a little more skin on the neckline than she usually did.
Sydneys POV
I felt his eyes on me and blushed a bit.
"I know, it´s a bit... revealing" I said pulling on the thin fabric. I felt a bit exposed. "They only had one size and one size never fits all" I defended myself.
Adrian chuckled "You really don´t have to apologize for that Sage. I like it. Very much so" he said with a glint in his eyes.
I put on an outraged look and smacked him on the arm, but my mouth betrayed me by smirking.
I just couldn´t be mad at him. And to be honest, I liked the way he was looking at me. That mixture of admiration and affection made me feel beautiful.
On our way to the gas station we passed a small supermarket and made a stop.
When we both were back in the car, armed with food, water and gas, I took a moment before I started the car again.
"I´m really happy you´re here with me Adrian" I said taking his hand.
"I wouldn´t miss it for the world" he said "I bet even camping is fun with you" he said brushing his thumb over the back of my hand.
I smiled at that "We´ll see about that".
He pulled my face close to him and kissed me "I am sure about it" he whispered.
