Day 12: A day of rest? Sunday the 30th Rova, 4707

I blearily woke up to the sound of my alarm. It took a minute for me to notice that I didn't feel a bed underneath me. Or in front of me. Or either side. There was nothing of any substance in any direction. I was inside of a bedroll, that was certain. I was still kind of tired, but I knew that I had slept. I heard some faint crackling and opened my eyes. My eyes adjusted to a darkness that had some erratic electric sparks going off in it. It looks I'm in the round room. Could this be a joke? I hope it was a joke. I hope I didn't sleepwalk down here and jump in. I found the rope that we had left going into the room, after almost two dozen tries. I wondered if astronauts had these kinds of problems when they first started.

I pulled myself and my bedroll out of the room. My shoes were helpfully placed just outside of the room. Thinking before just shoving my feet in, I inspected as best I could for any kind of spiders or other dangerous thing. I don't know that I feel much better not finding anything, but I supposed that all I can do is check. I threw the shoes on and rolled up my bedroll. I cautiously made my way back, using my cellphone's led light to guide my way. I knew the way back without much difficulty, even with eyes blurred with sleep. I got to see the bricked up secret door, and noticed that Faunra and Jonathan did a fairly decent job.

I entered into the basement level of the Glassworks, and I didn't see any damage or signs of recent conflict, or signs of me blundering into things in my sleep. I made my way up to the ground floor of the Glassworks, and still didn't see any danger. I continued on to try to make my way to the area where my equipment was. I crossed the odd hallway to the meeting room. Now that there wasn't a real variety of plans going on, maybe we should refit this as the break room and redo the break room as something else. If nothing else, it might be good to split it up into separate rooms. That could be useful, at least. Maybe turn the former servants' quarters into two dorms?

I opened the door to the break room, and I was greeted with a lunge at me. I didn't have time to react, before I was thoroughly grappled. I turned my head to see Savah was here. She was the one grappling me, or hugging me as the case may be. There was food on the table and everyone was digging in. Jonathan looked up at me and motioned his head to a pair of empty seats, one of which had some of the food already eaten. Shayliss was sitting next to him, Shalelu was here as well, sitting next to Faunra, and Chelger was even here, sitting next to Dame Rebekah. Savah whispered to me that Dame Rebekah told her everything and that she understood. I was a bit confused, but made it to the place that had been set for me.

Jonathan had made a superb breakfast, with Citrus, Bacon, Toasted Bread and some apples. It was then that I realized that I had forgotten to get eggs. I thought that they would just go bad so quickly that they wouldn't be worth it to buy in any kind of amount for us. I'm now realizing how wrong that is. Maybe I can pull up a recipe for Biscuits and Gravy. They might even swap out the gravy for some kind of chowder here, especially with the amount of seafood that this place brings in. I dug into the food and filled a void that I didn't even know was there. I was devouring the food. Savah sat next to me and ate her food, but mostly just liked to be next to me, I guess.

There was some light conversation about what the plans were for the day. Dame Rebekah's plans were to go to the Old Light and do some sunlight meditations. Chelger was looking to lead the Shelynite services for the townsfolk that were worshipers. Faunra and Shalelu were planning on doing a tour of the surrounding woods to do a check for any goblin stragglers or spies. I feel that there was an implied wink there. Jonathan was heading over to Ven Vinder's General Store after breakfast. Apparently they had a lot to discuss with regards to the upcoming marriage and the other recipes for the jerky. A lot of the other businesses in town would be closed, either for the owners to rest or to participate in religious services. A lot of the taverns would likely be opened later, in the day, and The Cracktooth Tavern would apparently be open for the actors and audience after the last showing of "The Harpy's Curse". Savah's shop, her armory, would be closed just like all of the other stores. Then what I dreaded happened.

I was asked what I had planned for today. I started by saying that I needed to get the radio back from the mayor to recharge it. Dame Rebekah was being extremely helpful when she pointed that the town hall would be closed today, so that would have to wait for tomorrow. I remembered that I was going to have a discussion with Father Zantus. Chelger naturally reminded me that Abstalar would be too busy with the various services to have the kind of in-depth discussion that I would need to have with him. I brought up that I needed to look into getting magnets and copper wire to start building a generator. Shayliss was super helpful in pointing out that both of those would be available tomorrow, when the stores opened up again. I brought up that I needed to use the solar chargers to recharge the battery back-ups, and Shalelu was naturally being supremely helpful when she asked if I needed to be someplace with a lot of unobstructed sun. I said that yes, it would be much easier if there was a lot of sun and flat terrain to allow the panels to charge as quickly as possible. Savah asked if a beach would work for that. I said that as long as the beach has some good sunlight access, then yes it would, but that I would need to set them out on a blanket or something. Faunra helpfully pointed out that there was a beach to the South and West of us, and that the poncho that I had bought that first day in the market should work fine. I was still in the middle of my meal, so I tried to finish.

I had just put my last bite of breakfast in and was quickly chewing because I started to notice where the conversation was heading. Dame Rebekah asked me if it would take a while to charge everything up. Jonathan answered for me that if he remembered correctly, it might take all day. Faunra chimed in that it wouldn't be good to leave the solar panels unobserved, because who knows if there are any goblins around to smash them or steal them. It was at that point when I quickly tried to down some ale to wash down the crusty bread. The conversation didn't stop to allow me to chime in. Jonathan noted that it was a good thing that he had made up his version of what I had made for everyone yesterday for just such an occurrence today. Faunra thanked him for looking out for all of us, and added that she was glad that we had these baskets to put everything in, pointing to a set of four baskets on a table on the other side of the room. Dame Rebekah noted that she didn't think that it was a good idea that I just stay down at the beach alone all day. Who knows how long it would take to get help, even with the radios. I knew where this was going, but I was powerless to stop it.

I just smiled as Savah said that she would be glad to spend the day at the beach with me, naturally to make sure that my equipment was safe from any marauding goblins, so that Dame Rebekah can attend her sunlight meditations without worrying. Jonathan thanked her for her selflessness in giving up her Sunday to undertake this dangerous activity. Faunra admired her bravery and selflessness as well. Chelger said that this was a great thing to do for the town. Shayliss added that it wouldn't be proper for any of them to bother us during the vital work of getting the batteries charged, so they should all head out soon. I thanked them as pair by pair they all left to go do what they were planning to do. They each took a basket with them. I noticed that Jonathan, Dame Rebekah, Faunra, and Shalelu all had their radios on their persons as they left. I'm certain that each of them winked at me when they thought that they could pass it off.

It was just Savah and me left when I got up and said that the morning sunlight was probably the best for this. Savah was right alongside me as we went to gather up all of the batteries and the solar chargers. I had gathered all of the solar chargers and batteries that I had in the building, so it was a full four sets. I set out my poncho, spread out the solar chargers to maximize their retention of solar energy, and plugged up the battery backups. I looked at Savah who had spread out another sheet not too far from the charging station. I walked over to her and she smiled at me as she indicated that I should get down on the blanket beside her. I took one more look over everything and relented. She laid her head on my chest as the sun beat down on the both of us and the solar chargers. This felt kind of good, just relaxing for the first time in this whole cursed journey that I had been put on. A fair amount of time went by when Savah spoke up and told that Dame Rebekah had told her everything.

I was taken a bit out of my reverie with that. I looked at her and stuttered that it was good that she knew. I told her that I imagine that she had been at the glassworks for far longer than I thought before I woke up if Dame Rebekah told her everything about me. Savah smiled for a second and told me that Dame Rebekah had tried to keep it brief, but that she had felt that she needed to know, and that yes, she had gotten there fairly early indeed. Savah asked if I was curious about what Dame Rebekah had said. I told Savah that I have never encountered Dame Rebekah lying, so I was sure that she was at the very least being honest about me. I didn't quite understand why Savah had still wanted to hang around me after hearing everything. I told her as much. She levelled with me, that she had kind of gotten more attached with me, not realizing that my intentions were only friendly in the start. Savah told me that Dame Rebekah had told her that I was married back on my home-world, and that I was not interested in being unfaithful. She said that she admired that.

I asked her then why she was willing to spend so much time with me. She said that Dame Rebekah told her about the talk that I had with her last night after dropping her off. How I was so dedicated to my family and my world that I would be willing to let them think that I was dead if it meant that going back would put them in more danger. That I would be willing to sacrifice my own happiness to fulfill that duty to my family and my people. That I would do so if it even only seemed that I would be placing my world in danger if I returned. And that I refused to try to bring my family over hear because I didn't want to ruin this place or my family's happiness showed her how good a person I was. That I was willing to sacrifice everything that had ever made me happy, just to keep people and worlds safe was a noble thing.

I told her that I didn't really see it that way. I told her that there wasn't really a choice, I mean that I couldn't think about going back and hurting others just to make myself happy. Savah told me that this was that made it noble. I sighed, and thanked her. My mind went back to the fact that she was still hanging around me. I told her that I didn't understand why she still wanted to be around me. She said that she thought that I had fun to be around and that she felt that I could still use a friend on this world. I stopped her and tried to thank her. She said that it wasn't a big deal. And if it turned out that maybe I couldn't make it back to my home-world, then maybe staying here in Sandpoint wouldn't be such a bad thing. I nodded that no, it would definitely not be a bad thing to stay here in Sandpoint. She turned her head to look up at me and smiled. We laid there in silence, relaxing for a good long time, her just enjoying the rest of not having to deal with customers and me updating my file on my tablet. Occasionally she would look over to me and see that I was typing away on the screen, and she would just smile and go back to resting.

After I got caught up on everything, I realized that something was still bothering me. And I thought that Savah might know the answer. I asked her if she could answer one more thing, and she had accepted. I asked her if any of the others had told her how I got down to the round room. She laughed and said that they told her that I snored so bad, and that they had hit me enough times, that the yelled at me. I got up, in my sleep, put my shoes on, and wandered off. They all went back to sleep, and when Jonathan got back up, he went looking for me. He found me in the round room, and went into the room to check in on me. He said that he figured that I was doing well enough that he could leave me down there. He closed what doors that he could after making sure there were no other dangers that could attack me, and went back upstairs. He apparently started working on the meals that we would be eating later in the day.

She continued that Faunra had ended up getting up next and asked Jonathan where I was. He had told her and she went down to check in on me. She found that I was okay, and set everything back. She then headed out to go get Shalelu for a breakfast before leaving. She told me that it was shortly after Faunra headed out that she had arrived, or at least that is what Jonathan told her. She told me that she was there when Dame Rebekah had woken up. She told me that Dame Rebekah had asked her what she was doing here, and Savah told her that she was waiting to spend the day with me. Jonathan had just finished with the mid-day meal sets and had wandered into the break room so they all had a talk. Apparently the messenger that we had prepaid was sent to go get Ameiko for some confirmation. She came over and the five of them (Faunra and Shalelu had also made it back by this time) told Savah as much of my story as each knew, each adding other parts to it.

Jonathan told her that he noted that I wore my wedding rings on a chain around my neck because it was dangerous to have rings on my fingers where I worked. Ameiko added that I had come to her seeking advice about the Savah situation. Dame Rebekah added that she had known that I was only looking for what I had called a "business date" when I had asked for her, Savah, to go with me. Dame Rebekah explained it as best she could remember that I had explained it. Faunra added that with what little she had known of me, that I was one of the few people she had ever known to be willing to sacrifice what they needed to get home, in that she knew I would need a lot of money to make my way back, and that I was blowing it on people I had only just recently met. It was then that Dame Rebekah dropped the motherlode of all info-dumps on everyone. She told them what we had discussed the night before. And how it related back to me likely not being able to connect to people well here, or so she surmised. Dame Rebekah admitted that she was just guessing at the last bit, but that it seemed right. Ameiko agreed with Dame Rebekah's assessment and confirmed everything that she could.

Savah told me that her head was swimming at that point, but everyone backed up each other in that when I talked to anyone about this situation, that I was trying to focus on her (Savah) not being hurt over everything else, and how I was try to make things much easier for her. It was about that time that Chelger dropped by, to pick up Dame Rebekah for the sunlight meditations that they had made a date for. Faunra asked him to tell me what his impressions of me were.

Chelger told them that he had not been in a lot of contact with me, but that for the half an hour or so that we talked, I had been fairly polite with him, especially for a worshiper of a foreign deity, and that I never once tried to convert him. He told them what I had told him of my world, and how the entire time I was sitting in there, I wasn't fretting about the possibility of my own impending demise, but that I was trying to figure out ways to improve my contributions to the group should I survive. He added that he had talked to some of the others who had checked on me, and that after he had told me (David) that there were other ways to keep people safe than killing others, that I had changed focus into designing the armor which Dame Rebekah was now wearing.

She said that Chelger's statement kind of cinched it for her. She realized that I wasn't trying to screw people out of money, or make a profit at other's expense, I was trying to keep the who were with me safe. That's when she realized that she could still be friends with me. She said that she talked it over with the rest of the people there, and that for all of the little tricks and tomfoolery that I had done, that they were going to play one on me for this day, and make it out to arrange a "date" for us, however it needed to be. Jonathan had remembered that I had muttered something about recharging the batteries, and that I had shown him the solar charger on one of those early days in the back of the cart. We pieced together what we could from that and decided to just run with it. Ameiko had to leave before I got up, but asked to be told how I took everything. As she was leaving, Shayliss showed up and said that her parents had given her leave to go to the Glassworks to get Jonathan and bring him back, so that Ven and Jonathan could have a talk.

I am amused by what they got together to do, I just wish that I didn't feel like such a fool. Savah told me that while she was perfectly content to be a friend with me, and that I could be someone to share my musings with, that there would be other women (and failing that men) who would seek me as a partner. Some were a lot more devious than poor Shayliss, and were not above a little trickery to get someone like me connected to them. She let me stew on that for a minute before adding that she guesses that she'll just have to sacrifice a little more and we would have to continue to pretend to "be a couple", for appearances sake anyway. She smiled as she looked up to me. I smiled back, knowing that I was in a trap no matter which way I turned.

I asked her if I could get up, to check on the arrays and she accepted. I did a check and found that they were charging fairly well, a little better than they would have back home, but the arrays did need to be updated for the change in sun direction. When I got back over to the towel, she was ready for me to sit back down. She laid her head on my lap, looked up at me and asked me to explain how the solar cells worked. I spent the rest of the afternoon explaining how solar cells, batteries, electricity and electromotive force worked. I enjoyed myself a fair amount, and I hope she did too. I know we ended up taking a break to eat at some point, but I can't remember when it was. All I know is that the end of the day, the battery backups were charged, along with everything else that I could charge, and that our food was gone. I saved my progress and we decided that we should head back.

As we walked back, Savah hung on my side, and whispered things to me. It would have looked to the outside world like she was whispering sweet nothings, but in reality, she was talking about how she could get ahold of the materials to make a generator, if I could figure out how to make it work. Also, I would have to set her up with a system in her house to keep the radio charged. I whispered back to her that it would take a good amount of time to find the ingredients, but that she should feel free to keep coming back to the Glassworks. She giggled and slapped me playfully like I had said something mildly unsuited for polite company and hugged me more.

We got home after everyone else. Shalelu had left to go search out the nearby forests and keep us apprised of the situation. She had developed quite the connection with Faunra apparently. Shayliss was there, with Chelger and Dame Rebekah discussing different aspects of a ceremony, and Jonathan was in the kitchen, whipping something up for dinner. I swear he would have been a decent contestant on a cooking show. Even that Gordon Ramsey one. I could just imagine him wolfing out at another contestant and the other contestant crapping themselves on live television. I was surprised when I was accosted by Ven shortly after walking into the dining room. I swear I'm going to have to figure out some way to prevent myself from being surprised as often as I am.

He wanted to thank me for stopping him from killing Jonathan. He had clearly been drinking, in fact he had been finishing off my bottle of Old Law Whiskey. He also had a fair amount of time to experience Jonathan's different jerky recipes. He told me that the only issue was that salt was an expensive thing to get. I looked at him and laughed for a second. I told him that I could set up a salt machine for even cheaper than the dehydrator and that he would get cleaner what out of it at the same time. He was a bit confused, as was everyone else. I asked someone for a piece of paper, and Faunra grabbed me one. I quickly drew out a quick solar distillation plant, which would normally be used to produce potable water, but the brackish water remaining could be further distilled to leave the salt behind. He looked at it for a minute, and then I added explanation drawings in a different color. Faunra picked it up quite quickly. Savah wasn't that far behind. It took a little bit more explaining before Jonathan and Dame Rebekah got it and finally, adding a third color pierced the alcohol to bring it to Ven's understanding.

I told him that he needed to use sea water for it, but that he could just get that from the shore. He was glad that he was getting a resource that would only cost him the labor in making something and carting the water. I absentmindedly added that once I got motors and electricity worked out over here that I could even automate the process of getting the water up to him. He was suitably impressed. Savah coyly asked if there was anything that I was planning for her. I told her that it would be a surprise. She smiled at that, and I added that I would be testing any prototypes before sending them to anyone else, but that I wouldn't keep things secret for long. I'm pretty sure that someone somewhere liked that, because I started feeling real hopeful about my ultimate quest at that point. Not that Savah isn't a great woman, because she is. I am married and I do want to return home. Sooner rather than later.

We all talked for a good long while, with Chelger and Dame Rebekah talking about different aspects of ceremonies that they had seen, either as a practicing priest in Chelger's case, or Dame Rebekah's experience seeing a lot of different ceremonies at the Windsong Abbey. She didn't know a lot about the ceremonies themselves, but she did end up seeing a lot of the décor and set ups. Shayliss was tending to be more partial to the Shelynite ceremonies, with Jonathan being asked from time to time about his opinion. He wasn't of too much opinion about things when I think it was Ven who asked me about betrothal ceremonies on my world. I told them a little bit about different ceremonies that I had seen, and I added the superstition of something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue items that the wife was supposed to have for the ceremony. I explained that the something old was supposed to provide a kind of protection for any children to come from the union, so it would probably be best to come from the family of the wife. The something new was supposed to be a representative of the wishes for the future, that could come from a friend of the wife. The something borrowed had to come from the a happily married wife, whomever in the town that might be, and finally something Blue was supposed to represent love and fidelity, a wish for the bond to remain true. They all thought on that and put it aside for other details.

Ultimately, some things were hashed out, but not much. I told everyone that I had already put a down-payment for Ameiko, so she would be catering the event. Savah squeed at that a little, while Ven looked a little worried. I comforted him that I would find a way to pay for that, and that the feast would be my gift to the couple. Savah whispered to me asking if that would be the only gift, and I whispered back that I'd still be thinking things up between now and then. Ven got up, a little stumbling here and there, and made his way to door to the conference room to leave. He yelled back to Shayliss to come with him. I rushed over to him and told him that there was a lot left to plan that a father shouldn't be involved in. In fact, there were things to plan that Me or Jonathan should not be involved in. I nodded slightly and he responded in a similar manner. I promised him that nothing unsavory would befall his daughter as long as I had anything to say about it. His eyes looked a little out of it, but he nodded and headed off. I asked Ven if he would be okay to make it home. He belched out something about growing up in this town and started to wander back to his house.

I made my way back to the room and everyone except Savah was seated around the table when I looked into the room. I was prepared for her, but didn't fight off the hug. She smiled, probably sensing that I knew it was coming and realizing that I was okay with it. She faux-whispered just loud enough for everyone to hear, "We need to talk about the sleeping situation in here, honey." I blushed reflexively and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I sheepishly followed as she pulled me to the table and sat down next to me. I swear this must be a bit more of the revenge.

Jonathan, Dame Rebekah, and Faunra all asked if that snoring thing was common. I told them that it was something that I had been afflicted with my entire life. Usually an unfamiliar bed got me a night or two reprieve from it, but whenever I got too comfortable, I would sleep too deep and end up snoring. If I didn't sleep too well, I might not snore, but then I would likely be tired the next day. There were some treatments for it back home, but they didn't cure you, they just suppressed the symptoms until you stopped using them. Some people had achieved some success with surgeries, but they were expensive and required a lot of verification beforehand to ensure that the issues that they could solve were the actual issues that you suffered from.

They took that all in for a minute, and Dame Rebekah noted that if this were the case, then we would have look into having separate rooms. I agreed that the stone walls would likely drown out the sound to keep the noise from affecting the others. Chelger noted that there were not a lot of stone workers in town, but there was a guild of carpenters. Savah noted that if I didn't sleep here in the glassworks, then everyone else could get good rest. Faunra caught up on the hint and mentioned that it might be a big inconvenience for a person to have me to sleep anywhere else. Dame Rebekah continued with the track and said that the person who was to have me over might not get any rest at all. Jonathan noted that a person who was used to the sounds of the forge might be okay with it. Savah nodded sagely at all of this, taking it all in with a slight smile on her face. I tried to stop the path that everyone was travelling down, by saying that I could just sleep in the round room from now on. That would keep me away from everyone else. Shayliss noted that the noise might bring monsters. Savah added that it might be best for someone to stay down there with me. Dame Rebekah noted that while she would be the first to protect me in combat, she needed her rest to be able to be up with the sun to properly pray to her goddess. Jonathan just flippantly said that it would mess with his chi, and Faunra added that she needed to have her full rest to recover her focus to enable her to cast spells.

Shayliss said that obviously she and Chelger were out. Savah said that she was the only one left. Everyone was smiling, and I said that I couldn't impose on her like that. She winked with an attempt to be extremely obvious, and said that I could impose on her in any way I needed. Dame Rebekah immediately stated that this solves everything. Faunra agreed and Jonathan thirded it. I found myself relegated to the round room until we got the building reconfigured. Savah whispered to me that she was just trying to keep up appearances in front of a town gossip. Wanting to change the subject, I noted that there was an important thing that we had not discussed about the wedding. Chelger said, with a wink, that he was sure that a double ceremony if it was needed. Shayliss smiled and looked expectantly at me and Savah. Savah squeed a bit more and snuggled even closer to me. I continued that there was a ceremony that was done before the wedding for each side. The Bride and the Bachelor each had a party that was planned by the best man and maid of honor. Those were two positioned that were chosen by the bachelor and the bride respectively. It was to be a celebration of the person's life before hand and no one from the other group was allowed at that group. These would have to be done before the wedding occurred.

Shayliss and Jonathan both looked around the room, and before they could say anything, I added that the choice of who would be their best man or maid of honor was a very important decision that should not be taken lightly. They nodded, and thought to themselves about that. The table was silent for a minute before Chelger stood up saying that he had to go, but to thanking us for having him here today. Jonathan agreed, saying that it was getting late. Faunra nodded as well. Chelger offered to escort Shayliss home, much to her dismay, but she agreed to it. Chelger asked if Savah would like an escort as well, and Savah said that she was perfectly okay, but thanked him. Chelger and Shayliss left from the building and everyone started laughing. I even added my laughter to the raucous stew that was brewing in the air.

I noted that I only had one bedroll. Savah said that it would be a tight fit then. She smiled, and everyone laughed a bit more. Jonathan noted that we could start work on separating out the rooms to make four separate rooms instead of one large room. I told them that it didn't seem fair to everyone that I would be monopolizing the round room. Savah started up again, trying to speak for everyone else when she said that she was sure that they wouldn't mind if we needed the round room during the night so that they all could sleep. More laughs. Groan. Jonathan said that he was going to start to get ready for bed. Faunra said that she would do as much as well. Dame Rebekah asked if Savah would help her with her armor after she had a minute to talk to me. Savah faked a tiny bit of jealousy before accepting and saying that she needed to look over the setup in the ovens to make sure that everything would be ready for the next day, but that she would be back soon.

As soon as she left, Dame Rebekah asked me if it was okay for her to tell Savah everything. I told her that I did not ask her to keep such information confident at the time, and that I had no right to expect her to. I did say that I would politely request that she keeps the information that I give her to the group, plus Ameiko and Savah unless it is REALLY necessary. I told her that Savah and me had a LONG talk on the beach, and that she was okay with being my friend for right now. She was also trying to help me by being "obvious" in a relationship with me, to try to keep others from pursuing me, which I thought was helpful. Dame Rebekah told me that this was a good thing, but to be careful, because there is always some truth in jest. I nodded to her sage wisdom and thanked her. Dame Rebekah accepted my thanks, but threw a dig in at the last second, asking if talking was really all we did on the beach. Savah came back in at exactly that moment, and told me to not tell her how she had her head in my lap. She put her hand to her mouth acting like she had let some kind of secret out, and Dame Rebekah just smiled and shook her head. Her and Savah went off to get her out of her armor and I sat in the dining room and pulled out my tablet. Savah came back after a few minutes and asked what I was doing.

I told her that I was keeping a journal of everything that was happening to and around me, and that if I ever got back, it might help explain everything to the people I had left, or I might just publish it on some kind of internet forum for other people to read. Who knows? She nodded and told me that she would be back, that she had to go get something. Before she left to go do anything, I told her that I was really grateful for all she was doing so far, and that I didn't think she needed to be imposed on with even more stuff. She told me that it wasn't a big deal. She wasn't setting out to do anything big anyway, just heading to the washroom. I nodded, and smacked myself in the head.

I must not have been paying attention to the time, because by the time that Savah was sitting next to me, I had been writing for hours. I barely had the brain power left to notice that she had changed. She wasn't wearing her armor and working outfit, but a much more relaxed version of what I had termed to myself as Jonathan's ninja outfit. Her outfit wasn't the kind of black that could get lost in the darkness, but more of a pale whitish yellow. There was some embroidery on it, flowers I think. I asked her why she left without talking to me. She told me that she had looked in at me and I looked like I was deep in thought. She decided then that she'd try to make sure that there were not any lingering doubts from anyone in the town that I was "taken". Unfortunately, she didn't think that anyone saw her head there or some back with a bedroll and her night clothes, prominently displayed, she added, so she was probably going to have to do it again sometime soon. I told her that we could just get Ameiko in on her ruse, like Dame Rebekah was and she said that we would just have to make them believe it was true as well.
