When I opened my eyes the first thing I noticed was the heavy weight on my head and the next thing was that I was on the couch, not in my bed. My vision was a bit blurry and took a while to adjust to the room. I was trying my best to piece together what happened last night. I came out of my room to join the party and I talked to Nexus, started playing games with Corrode and Percy, and then I started drinking. How much did I drink last night? I then put a hand to my head and let out a growl.

"Kai are you okay?" It was a concerned voice. Staring down at me from beside the couch was Nexus. I couldn't even muster a response. "You slept in this morning, though after the party we had last night you need to eat" He then planted a kiss on my forehead and I blushed. "Don't get up you'll look like newborn Mudbray. I'm making us brunch" my ears twitched as I heard the sizzling of a pan. Has he been cooking since I got up? Also, why did he kiss me on my head? I played back everything in my head and then remembered after everyone left I decided to watch a match from the Chroma League and Nexus approached me. I completely broke down in front of him. I don't think I told him specifically why I pushed everyone away but I let him in the loop. I might as well let him know as much as Pollon or would he turn tail and run? Then I remembered the kiss.

"Shit, I kissed you!" I screamed out. I then heard him chuckle as he placed two plates on the coffee table. As well as two glasses of pinap juice.

"Actually I kissed you" he answered. "We can talk about anything on your mind after we eat" he smiled as he started to eat. For once I don't want to be defensive like I have to put up this wall. We've been living together for almost a month and I've been an ass this whole time. I started eating it myself and I loved it. I had an Eevee pancake while he had an Axew one and there was bacon and eggs too. All of it was delicious, I didn't take Nexus as one to enjoy cooking. Though while we are eating I can't help but shake the feeling I know him from somewhere before but I have seen many Haxorus. Before I knew it I was done eating and so was he.

"Nexus, so I know I said some weird cryptic shit last night and I need you to bare with me" he nodded. "If you didn't know I'm Kai Blaze the son of Maximilian Blaze and the head of the Blaze industry" I started off with that.

"Yeah, I've heard of that company" he darted his eyes to the side when he said that.

"Well I have a massive burden placed on my shoulders and if I don't uphold it then everything my father has done will be for naught" I sighed.

"Kai, you are your own pokemon. You shouldn't be a prisoner to your father" Nexus tried to counter my upbringing. My eyes start to tear.

"I know I am but then every time I try and recognize it, I'm put back in my place" a tear slides down my cheek and then evaporates. "With Zeek, with Ace and Angel," another tear slides down. Nexus trapped me in a hug similar to last night.

"Tell me this is your father here now?" he pulled me so I was now in his lap.

"No," I said hesitantly.

"Then he won't know" Nexus traps me in a kiss and I melt into it. He made the fear go away if only for a moment. We broke the kiss. "There is so much I want to say but let's take this steps at a time" Nixes smiled at me and I smiled back and nuzzled into him.

~Sydney's~

(Lively Days - Shadowverse)

"I'd like to welcome everyone to the Annual Evergreen tournament!" I cheered into the mic as I was center stage in the Evergreen stadium. "I'm Sydney Stone, one of this year's elite students and one of your hosts for this tournament. For the next two days, you will be competing in a swiss format tournament to make it to the main tournament. To cut it down from two thousand of you to a hundred and twenty-eight" The crowd of students cheered at the explanation as if ready for the tournament. It's a bit jarring seeing so many pokemon and being the only one out here. At least I won't be alone for long. " All of the matches will be held in the four smaller battlefields we have made, so you all break off in four groups, and the top thirty-two advance from each of the groups. For the rest of the week, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Those who advance will get a break on Wednesday. We will hold the main tournament and have a one-winner" I hope I'm doing a good job at this. "Don't forget we will have two judges on each battlefield meaning I can do this alone. Welcome, some other elite students Corrode Gaia, Kai Blaze, and Fang Blister" My classmates all walked into the stadium to join me. "Also we have a surprise which was a last-minute addition that my classmates don't even know about" the three guys looked at me funny.

"Sydney what are you talking about?" Corrode whispered. I ignored him, not to be rude but to continue.

"I'd like to introduce some legendary fighters you may know from Ferrum, Axel Dark, and Blaze Two!" The crowd roared as these two dragons came onto the battlefield.

"You all better not disappoint. I came a long way to be here" Axel scoffed.

"No need to be rude this is the next generation you know" Blaze Chastised him.

"That's not all we also have legendary fighters back on their old stomping grounds and also have made names for themselves in Ferrum Jason Gon and Tyler Loft!" Those two walked out and were happy to see the audience.

"So happy to be back, time to see what the new Evergreen has to offer" Jason strutted out.

"Glad to be back, to all of you I say good luck I remember being in all of your positions not too long ago" Tyler joined us in the center of the stadium.

"We now have all of our judges and now you all will get your battlefield assignments and matchups through your ORB, you are all dismissed" Confetti launched and everyone cheered and was clearing out.

~Tyler's~

I got paired up with Kai Blaze. I was able to pair my memory when I came back to Evergreen during winter break and saw him with an Altaria and Sylveon. He has to be strong if he is marked as an elite student. He and I were sitting through many matches and some barely lasted a minute. Some students show a lot of promise. In general, I'm happy to be back. It also seems Kai was happy to be paired with me. To make things go faster we judged two matches at a time. I took the time to study each match to see if I could single out a student with an Ace power. Giratina called me after I arrived and asked if I could search for other Aces while I was there because disaster will ensue if we don't. He has a way of laying the weight of the world on pokemon but I don't question it. I also had a talk with Dean Lumino. We were able to get done with the first round by eleven but that was still two and a half hours. If we are lucky we'll get done with round three today. Kai and I got to take a break in the break room though only for fifteen minutes. As we were eating Kai's gaze was fixated on me.

"Are you okay?" I asked as my sweat dropped.

"Well, it's not every day you have a contest star and fighting legend sitting in front of you" his eyes lit up with excitement.

"I didn't think I had fans like that" I tried to diffuse this a bit. "Don't think of me as some returning fighter, I'm still a student too. Think of me as one of your friends. I'm not much older than you, I turn twenty in November" I smiled. He then smiled back at me.

"My birthday is in November too and I would love to be your friend" We continued to eat our food. Then we heard a knock on the door.

"It's open," I said. To my surprise, Dean Lumino came from behind the door.

"I just wanted to check in on you two and see how you were doing" he came in and sat at the table.

"Dean Lumino-" Kai was cut off.

"I told you before to lose the formalities when we're in private" Lumino sighed.

"Though what brings you to our area of play" I giggled a bit.

"Nuxsh, I mean Shun said you were a funny one" Lumino chuckled a bit. There it is. I knew when he introduced himself formally as Loxs it was weird. Kai only smiled not sure what was going on. The 'x' in their name is to add some type of code name to recognize an overseer. Also, I now have it confirmed that Dean Dark's real name is Shun, I thought it was a cover for when he hung out with common pokemon.

"So?" Kai was confused.

"Sorry, I came to let you know Fang Blister will help you judge matches on a third battlefield to make things go faster," Kai then let out a disappointed sigh. "Also, Tyler please join me after you are done tonight in my office" I nodded and then heard the door creak open. No one else heard, I darted my eyes to the door and I saw some green scales and then they disappeared and I could hear footsteps sprinting away.

"Thanks for the invitation" Lumino then hopped off the table and walked out of the room. I then looked at Kai and he had a stunned face. "Sorry that was terribly awkward, how about you come over to my place for dinner tomorrow night?" I asked.

"I can't turn that down" he jumped up clasping my hands.

~Angel's~

(Dawn's contest appeal - Pokemon DP)A/N: Angel's New Theme

Time for my second-round match and I have Jason as my judge, definitely a fan. I watched all of his contest matches. Sadly they don't offer contests for high school students. However, I'm an even bigger fan of Flora Blossom, and watching those two together makes me squeal.

"Are you ready to do this?" When I walked out to the battlefield it was Luna.

"Didn't think I would be fighting my sweetheart" I taunted in a flirtatious way. She scoffed as a reaction.

"In your dreams" She replied, guess my tactics won't work this time.

"If both of you are ready, battle begin" A small whirlwind appeared around Luna and I took my chance and three rings of fire appeared. They all shot individually and Luna dodged them by flying high. However, the flames started to chase her.

"Those aren't normal flames that is mystical fire" I announced, proud of my trick. She kept dodging them and as she was distracted I extended my ribbon feelers and wrapped them around her restraining her so she got shot by the flames. I then shot a shadow ball her way, taking both moves head-on. When I released her she started falling from the sky, but then the wind caught under her wings again and she flew past me. Next thing I know I'm being cut up by blades of wind. It hurt a lot more than normal as if she struck something vital. Then I remembered that Razor wind lands critical hits easily and her ability Super Luck paired with her item being a scope lens.

"Take that razor wind maybe a forgotten move but it's still strong" She then charged past me again and this time I got taken up in the air by the wind.

"Luna, you don't have to take it this far," I pleaded.

"No, you cocky little cat put your money where your mouth is" I was trapped in an air bubble and then got sliced by wind attacks to the point it was cutting my fur.

"Not my fur!" I screamed and then everything went black.

~Zeek's~

I've been waiting patiently all day for this to show off what I can do. As soon as I found out Kai was one of the judges for my group. I'll show him what I got my hands on. I use my new power to show off and then he'll see how strong I am. He'll want to talk to me again and we can go about everything how it used to be. I did my research and I shouldn't be able to be stopped. I walked out to the field and It was Ace, one of Kai's friends I was up against.

(Battle - Xenoblade chronicle 2)A/N: Ace's New Theme

"It seems I get to fight your friend" I directed it at my judge and Kai just rolled his eyes. Why does he make things difficult for me?

"I'm not his friend, not after what was told me, but who needs pokemon like him" I was caught off guard by her demeanor. She gave off the aura as if she was above all else. "Power will get you what you want and that is a lesson I learned in his absence. Power is salvation" I gasped at her words. I could see Kai was taken aback.

"If both are ready battle, begin!" Kai announced. I sent out a surge of electricity to cover the battlefield and Ace flew up into the sky. I saw her dance through the air as a purple aura charged around her. She must be using dragon dance. By charging electricity all over me I used bounce to challenge her in the sky.

"Try my wild charge" I can tell I caught her off guard and slammed her into the floor. The electric terrain started to get out of hand and held her down as if they were electric cables. I then stomped her into the ground. I then heard her cough and a bit of laughter.

"This won't stop me, I have more power than you and I'll show you why" A white case wrapped around her, and I backed off. Out came a giant cotton candy ball but in reality, I should be scared. Her family owns a jewelry store and I should have known she would have a mega stone.

"That means I'll go all out too" I was trapped in a white ball and while I was inside my body morphed. The mane along my back sprouted out further and grew wings. My white stripes turned blue and surged with blue electricity. My cage broke and my new form was here. Ace started flying again but I won't let her get close. In my mega form, I have better control of my electric terrain and used bolts of lightning to chase her down but she dodged them all.

"This will end quickly, say good night horsey," she taunted me. She shot a pulse of purple energy and demolished the bolts of electricity chasing her. Next three balls of white came charging at me and I could guess it was Moonblast and it did more damage since it was nighttime. Charged right at them and used Discharge to break them and flew straight toward Ace covering myself in blue electricity this time.

"This will end it!" I shouted.

"No, it won't" She sounded so calm. Next thing I know I was trapped in her cloud wings and smashed into the battlefield. She used earthquake as a suplex move. Seems like I lost because I can't move after that. I failed to get Kai's attention again.

~Pollon's~

(Gentle Madman - P5R)A/N: Pollon's New Theme

I'm exhausted after my eight matches. I had six wins, one tie, and one loss. That was enough to place me in the top thirty-two to qualify for the final tournament. I planned on studying today. To help me relax, the sounds of the piano were playing in the background, but very short lived. I heard a knock on my door. It was very slight, meaning it was for me since I have very sensitive ears. Typically it's my sister and she tries her best not to wake my roommate, who is an Espeon. I walked up to the door and opened it to be met with my sister, Nix, Kai and legendary Noivern Tyler Loft.

I kept my composure "Why are you knocking at my door at ten in the morning?" I did my best not to read their minds.

"Nix thought it would be a good idea for us to go to Diggersby Land," Luna said with enthusiasm. I looked at Nix who just blushed. While Kai face palmed.

"You do realize that is all the way in Ferrum" I pointed out.

"Luna, did you ever stop to think I was being sarcastic?" Nix pointed out. We were getting a bit noisy so I stepped out in the hall and closed the door.

"Oh, if that's why you wanted a chaperon then I can help but Someone else will be the chaperon since I won't be able to join you then" Tyler explained.

"See, come on let's go to Diggersby Land" my sister insisted. It is rare she gets to indulge in fun and why not join her.

"Okay but how do you plan on taking us there and who will be our chaperon?" Kai asked with his eyes gleaming. He needs to calm down. I know that's his idol but he's still a student just like you. Tyler had his ORB screen open and was sending a few messages back and forth.

"Alright, your two chaperons will be Michael Fang and Arthur Drake. They are great friends of mine and have the day off from class" Tyler sent a smile our way.

"Though how will we get there?" Nix asked the question this time.

"Follow me" Tyler led us downstairs to one of the window panes that showed our reflections. He then snapped his fingers and instead of it showing our reflections we saw a Mightyena and a Garchomp.

"What the-" I didn't finish my phrase as we were all shoved through the window. It was a flash of black and instantly was a flash of light.

"Ow" I heard Kai whine.

"Is everyone okay?" Luna asked. I opened my eyes and we were in a farm-like area.

"Can you all get off me?" Kai asked through a wheeze. We all did our best and slowly got off Kai.

"Are you all done with your little dog pile" A deep voice I didn't recognise and I turned to meet eyes with a Mightyena with his fang out.

"No need to tease the kids" The Garchomp scolded the dog.

"Where are we?" Nix asked while dusting herself off.

"Let me be the first to welcome you all to the Ferrum Region, I'm Michael Fang," the dog gestured to the whole area.

"Specifically Tellur Town, I'm Arthur Drake," the land shark joined in.

"How did we get here?" I asked. I turned around and there was a statue of Giratina that showed our reflection.

"What just happened was similar to Giratina's power to travel through distortions and mirrors like portals," Michael explained. Why does a normal pokemon have a power similar to the pokemon devil. Exactly what is Tyler Loft? "Believe or not some other pokemon have powers-" Michael was cut off by Arthur hitting him in the head.

"With that said you will be traveling back home in a similar manner" Arthur started to walk off and we followed.

"If you didn't know Ferrum is in a different time zone than the Elemental region and right now it's almost seven pm, hence the sun setting" Michael explained and I didn't notice. We walked through town and eventually found our way to Diggersby Land. We learned a bit from our Chaperones. Like how Kai pointed out they both competed in the final stage of the massive summer tournament that was televised worldwide and I remember watching it but not them. Which he then reminded them they lost round one. Also Michael admitted he is actually dating Tyler and Arthur is dating Axel.

"You willingly chose to date Axel!" Nix shouted in alarm.

"Yes, is that a problem?" Arthur gave her a confused look.

"What she means is he's a bit unnerving and sadistic and very cruel with some of his tactics if I remember from watching him on tv" Luna came to Nix's defense.

"That may be true but that's just a persona and if you really knew him off the tv-" Arthur was then cut off.

"We're here, go ahead and have fun and here" our ORBS rang and revealed he just gave us his and Arthur's contact. " Contact us if you need anything or if you are ready to go" Michael cheered. He changed the subject so suddenly.

"Thanks!" Luna cheered and dragged Nix with her.

"So much for family bonding" I sighed.

"Let's go together" Kai offered and I nodded. We then walked off on our own. It seems there was something they were avoiding to tell us on two occasions. Like they were unsure if they needed to share it with us or not. As we were walking away I lifted up my ears and focussed in on their conversation.

"You know we can't explain stuff about the Aces to them, unless they have the power" Arthur Scolded Michael.

"What about you? You were about to explain what Axel is let alone Tyler and Blaze" Michael countered. What are Aces? Also is there something wrong with those three?

"So Pollon" Kai snapped me out of my trance and I closed my ears. "What's going on with you and Nix?" He asked and I instantly blushed. Curse my damn body's response.

~Tyler's~

(Xion's theme - Kingdom Hearts)A/N: Axel's Theme for those who forgot

"So you wanted to see us, Loxs" I walked into his office. Axel and Blaze left my body splitting into the room.

"Glad you three could make it, but where is Jason?" Tailside appeared from behind Loxs.

"He wasn't feeling well so I'll tell him about what we talked about" I said.

"If that's how it is" Loxs's sighed as he got up from his chair. Hough when he got up my ears wicked movement from outside the room, I brushed it off as other teachers were roaming through the building since it was midday. The room transformed, blocking out any outside light and revealing a big tv screen.

"Last you were here I revealed I am the leader of the Aces" Loxs explained while on screen there were legendary pokemon huddled together all playful and happy.

"Zygarde, Victini, Giratina, Palkia, Dialga, Zapdos, Groudon, Xerneas, Yveltal, Entei, and Solgaleo" Blaze was able to list them all off.

"Very good someone knows their legendary pokemon" Milo gave us praise and for the first time since the incident at Ferrum gave us a smile.

"These are the pokemon known as Overseers and watch over the ones with the gifted powers of a legendary" Loxs further explained. The screen then changed to a chart with each legendary and then the pokemon they oversee the unknown ones have question marks.

Jason Gon and Zygarde take the first spot. Victini's had a question mark. Giratina's was with Axel, Blaze, and me. Palkia's was unknown and so was Dialga's. Zapdos was attached to James Cross and Michael Fang. Groudon was attached to Volcan Overcrest. Xerneas was unknown. Yveltal was attached to Snap Gator. Entei was attached to Arthur Drake. Lastly, Solgaleo was unknown.

"How is it that the one you oversee is unknown?" Axel asked bluntly. Loxs sighed.

"I'm not allowed to share unless his body is ready to awaken to the power bestowed upon him by me" he explained.

"I have another question?" Blaze stepped forward. " Even though Axel, Tyler and I share the same Overseer we have a different power or would it be easier to explain James and Michael?" Blaze looked at the screen trying to make sense of the situation.

"I can answer this partially" Milo shared his ORB screen to the tv. " You three are an awkward case since you are a reincarnation from a terrible science experiment by MT. The legendaries used to make Zexeler were Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem. Ultimately killing the three and giving birth to new life. When you three were split in reincarnation you all gained the power of one of the three legendaries" Milo explained. The shock of actually hearing that a legendary is actually dead made me sick. "So not only do each of you harbor some of the power of Giratina but you also harbor one of the three legendary powers" Milo finished.

"I think I understand as Tyler holds the power of Reshiram, I hold the power of Zekrom and Axel holds the power of Kyurem" Blaze explained and Loxs nodded.

"I haven't unlocked Kyurem's power though I've only been relying on dad's" Axel sounded a bit bitter about it.

"Something similar happened to the bird trio, but Articuno and Moltress just went missing. Before they disappeared the two bestowed their power to Zapdos. Which he gave to Michael and James, not sure if their bodies will awaken to the thunderbirds power. He probably thinks his power is too righteous for them" Loxs explained. I think I understand now. However hearing that a legendary died for my existence is a bit much. I can't lose my resolve.

"Then why are we here?" I asked.

"I asked for you to come here personally to help search out the remaining Aces" Loxs walked over and placed his hand on my shoulder. Looking up in his eyes I see him pleading with me for my help. Looking in his eyes like a starry night.

"When I was asked to be the new dean here I was asked to send out invites to all regions for those to join the strongest school. We pooled together many students and then the strongest ones at the entrance exam were named the elite class" He further explained as the tv disappeared and light was let back in the room. "We believe the remaining Aces will be in the elite class and I need your help scoping them out" Loxs pleaded.

"Why can't you scope them out you are an overseer after and the leader at that" Axel came off as cocky. Instantly you see him mock a roar but heard no noise, but Axel was then cowering in fear, an emotion he never showed. Blaze and I were taken back.

What did he just do? Loxs then recomposed himself.

(Circhester Theme - Pokemon)

"They are not allowed to interfere in any way. When the one they oversee is ready for their power is when they can interact" Milo explained for the mane pokemon. I then thought back to the interactions I had with Giratina, he gave me access to his power in short bursts. Loxs then cleared his throat and out of fear Axel, Blaze and I stood up right.

"After the Evergreen tournament you will be assisting in training the class to see which ones will awaken to their true power. If no further question you are dismissed" Loxs tried his best not to look irritated. We did as we were told and left his office. As we did Axel propped himself up against the wall and was shivering.

"Axel what's wrong?" I was concerned. He would hate for anyone to see him like this.

"His roar shows his target, their greatest fear" he said while shivering.

"I thought you feared nothing, what did you see?" Blaze asked concerned.

"It's an amalgamation of things" That was a big word even for Axel. " It was us trapped in my paradise world powerless against MT" I tears well up in his eyes. I never knew he cared for us this much.

"Little bro, we'll stop MT and remember we are one" I hugged Axel and for once he didn't accept it reluctantly. Blaze joined the hug too. We are the Noivern trio and brothers. I will do my best for whatever comes in the future for us to make it through safely. We sat in the hallway in our group hug.

Action: A wholesome family moment.

Tyler: I appreciate it.

Action: As well as a little field trip.

Pollon: Can we not talk about it?

Milo: The cogs are turning and it's only the beginning.

Ace: You bet it baby!

Nix: What a bostious bunch. *Sigh*

Angel: Don't lie, you love us.
