Day 20: Us to be happy Moonday the 8th Lamashan 4707

I woke up feeling really refreshed. This was the first night I had slept since the curing that I received from Proctor Jyronn Imikar of Abadar, and my ability to actually get restful sleep was amazing. I actually woke up before Savah, and saw that she looked definitely happy in her sleep. I floated my phone to me and saw that it was early in the morning, but late enough that I could wake her up without it being too early.

I kissed the back of her neck and up to just behind her ear. I swear I heard her purr just before she woke up. She opened her eyes slowly and told me not to stop. I continued kissing behind her ear and moved over to kiss her ear lobe and nip it just a little. She seemed to be enjoying it. I whispered to her that we were not in those silk sheets that she wanted. We'd have to be back at our home to be in those. She stopped me, rolled over onto her back, and looked up at me. I was worried that I had stepped over some line that I had not seen. She repeated back to me questioningly, our home? I apologized and said I might have overstepped by saying that. She put her finger in front of my lips to stop me.

She asked me again if I meant it when I said our home. I told her that I didn't want to impose on her or force her into anything that she didn't think was right. She pulled me down with all her strength and started to kiss me harder than ever before. I didn't stop her. She slowed down after a few minutes and asked if she was dreaming. I asked her if she was dreaming, did she want to wake up. She looked at both of our clothes and said that she couldn't be dreaming right now with a smile. I asked her if she was willing to get up now. She leapt out of the bed and rushed to get dressed. She pulled me out of the bed and started pulling clothes on me too. We got fully dressed and armored. We did a sweep for anything that we might have lost, and headed downstairs.

Jonathan was there and making breakfast. The Innkeeper was very much appreciating the help. Jonathan commented that we were usually the last to come downstairs. Savah whispered something to him and he smiled. He said that it called for a celebration, I cautioned him that I was certain that Savah wanted to get back to Sandpoint more than spend more time in this Inn, great as it was. She nodded with emphasis to that and gripped my arm hard.

The Innkeeper came up to me and said that there was a fair amount of the take left over. I told him to put it into a pool to get high end sheets. That's what she'd like, pointing to Savah, I told him. She smiled up at me and nodded. Jonathan got us set up with food and Savah and I spent time feeding each other. Dame Rebekah and Chelger were the next to come down. I actually noticed something for one, and saw that he was wearing the green spinel ring. Dame Rebekah's hands were gauntleted already. I nodded to myself and whispered what I had seen to Savah. She smiled at them and quietly congratulated Chelger and Dame Rebekah. They were a bit surprised to see me up and about. I told them that part of what had been cured on me yesterday were some issues with breathing, which made sleep much easier. Savah noted that I slept so peacefully that she feared I was dead a few times.

Dame Rebekah and Jonathan both laughed as they had heard my snoring before, in fact it could be attributed to why I was with Savah now. I held Savah closer when I thought about her and she jumped up from her chair to sit on my lap. I smiled up to her and she smiled back at me. Faunra was the next to make her way down. She told us that Shalelu had to go check out the woods around town and take a look for the people I had suggested before. I told Faunra that I didn't want them split up if it wasn't needed. She shrugged and said that it wasn't a big deal. Shayliss came down last and was very groggy. I cast a suspicious look to Jonathan, but didn't say anything. Who was I to judge anyone anymore?

We collected all of our things, did final sweeps, and got everything sorted out. Chelger was still with Dame Rebekah on the coach spot, with Faunra and myself both riding the horses. That left just Jonathan, Shayliss, and Savah inside the cab. They spread out a bit, and I asked Savah to ensure that nothing too explicit went on after we got within Ven's distance of Sandpoint. She looked quizzical and I explained, the distance Ven might be able to chase someone who he caught with one of his daughters. She stifled a laugh and accepted my request. She said that it wouldn't be good for the person who was likely to be the best man at our betrothal to be deceased. I looked at her with a combination of a bit of annoyance and amusement.

We made our way the short distance back to Sandpoint, we ended up getting there just before noon. As we arrived in the village, I suggested that we handle our various jobs as we made our way to them. The rest of the group agreed, but that I should definitely be the one to talk to Jaspar and give him the good news. We crossed the Turandarok River Bridge and noticed that the guards seemed a bit lax, just waiving to us as we passed. I guess we were pretty identifiable. We got to the Goblin Squash Stables and found that Daviren wasn't anywhere to be found. We stabled Shadowmist, Bucepherous, and four of the horses that were attached to the wagon train. We continued on through the town to The Rusty Dragon. No one was there. We shrugged and continued on to the Sandpoint Merchantile. We noticed then that there was a feast going on.

I quietly asked if I should say something. Jonathan said yes, Faunra said yes, Dame Rebekah said no, Shayliss was embarrassed and said no. I looked to Savah and told her that she had the deciding vote. She either said yes without thinking or decided that it would be an amusing thing for me to do. We walked up where everyone was eating and saw Jaspar with Cyrdak. Titus was there and were several other people what wouldn't show up when we were throwing a feast. It looked a lot more somber than our feasts. I set my cellphone to record and handed it to Jonathan.

I walked into the area of the feast and I was noticed immediately. Ameiko looked like she was happy to see us. Cyrdak was as well, Jaspar only slightly less so. The Mayor and the Sheriff could take us or leave us. I started with my brief announcement. "I'm so glad that we are so well liked in this town that you throw us a feast when we come back!", I started. The Mayor and the Sheriff both looked like they wanted to kill me. I continued, "I'm sorry it took so long for us to get back, we had some pressing matters in Magnimar," That got the Mayor's interest a little. "but now we are back and so happy are we to be back. Shayliss," I stopped to look at Shayliss, "could you give your father the report of the things he needed you to do in Magnimar." She rushed over to her father's table. He looked slightly perturbed to be called out.

I continued, "Sir Jaspar, I would like you to know that I had occasion to visit Proctor Jyronn Imikar of Abadar while I was in the city. He inquired after you to see how such a stalwart defender of civilization was fairing. I gave him a brief update, and he asked, nay, demanded that I deliver this signed and stamped missive from him. I believe that he wanted it to be read but I would leave that up to you." Jonathan floated the parchment over to Jaspar.

I continued before he could open it, "Ameiko, we have performed the task that you set us on in Magnimar. A glassworks guild representative will be coming to town soon to evaluate the glassworks to see if it can be brought back into operation with another crew." Faunra added from behind me that the glassworker guild representative seemed very excited to have the chance to be a part of this glassworks and would have come with us but had a contract that they needed to finish first. Ameiko smiled and nodded.

I looked to the Sheriff next, "Honorable Sheriff Hemlock, we took the liberty to contact the Church of Abadar about your request for aid in defending this outpost of civilization. He was most disturbed by the lack of assistance you received. He dictated that we tell you that should this fine town need assistance, you need only go to him instead of the city itself. On a different note, we will be dealing with the issue that we told you about the day after tomorrow." I could tell he was seething from the attention, but thankful that we got a promise of assistance.

I stopped for a minute because I had noticed that during my last address Jaspar had about fallen out and Cyrdak had taken the proclamation to read. He about dropped from it himself. He looked at us and silently asked how. I subtly motioned for him to rise and read it. It didn't take more than just that to bring out the showman in him.

"Be it known, that on this day, Sunday the Seventh of Lamashan, 4707, that it has come to our attention that there are aspersions being cast towards the honor of a chosen warrior of Abadar. I have the distinction of knowing the work that this honorable paladin of Abadar does to ensure the continued growth of civilization in the lawless area of the Lost Coast Road. I can say that the work he does is in Abadar's interest and with Abadar's grace. His plight is not unique in these times. People claim that the teachings of Abadar say that you must become attached to those who you might become attached to, that you must change yourself instead. Abadar is the father of civilization, and as such, Abadar knows more than anyone that the heart needs what the heart needs. Civilization cannot progress without love. As such, it comes to pass that I personally bless the upcoming union of Sir Jaspar Korvaski of Abadar and Cyrdak Drokkus, entertainer extraordinaire of the Sandpoint Theater. May their love and union be a guiding light for civilization for years to come.

Personally written by Proctor Jyronn Imikar, Sunday the Seventh of Lamashan, 4707.

Witnessed by Acolyte Jacob Frenz, Sunday the Seventh of Lamashan, 4707.

Witnessed by David Drake, Sunday the Seventh of Lamashan, 4707.

Attached is the holy seal of the Church of Abadar, affirming the notice as true church doctrine and clarification of the church policies with regards to the relationships that occur between members of the faith and others. "

Cyrdak fell as silent as the whole crowd was. Titus demanded to see the seal, and Cyrdak turned the parchment towards him. The seal flashed with a holy light and it was Titus' turn to be silent. Cyrdak pulled Sir Jaspar from his seat and kissed him fiercely in front of everyone. He then raised Sir Jaspar's hand high. Sir Jaspar was almost catatonic with what just happened. The Mayor cleared her throat as she stood up and Cyrdak helped Sir Jaspar sit down and was seated himself.

The Mayor started, in shock and annoyance at first, but then with more amusement when she realized what had just happened, "Well, it seems like you can't have a feast in this town without someone feeling the pressing need to make some kind of announcement. I'm moving that we make it a part of every feast that we offer the floor up to announcements or pronouncements. I'll say that we need to have some vetting, so please let me know what you would like to say before the feast, so that we can make sure that you are called to announce if you are there." She called a vote. It succeeded with a very supportive vote from the townsfolk.

I nodded to her and motioned to Jonathan that he could stop recording. The Mayor sat back down and Titus waited a full two minutes before excusing himself from the feast. In the meantime, Ameiko came up and offered to show us everything that was offered at the feast. In reality, she wanted to ask us how things were. We thanked her for the use of her familial estate in Magnimar. We told her that we left her with a good amount of stores since it looked like someone had wiped her out. She started to apologize for it and I stopped her. She saved us a great amount, by being able to stay at her place rather than trying to find an Inn that would work for us. She told us that we seemed to have a flair for showing up at the right time with the exact message to piss the right people off. She looked to Dame Rebekah and asked how we managed to get the Magnimarian Proctor of Abadar to sign off on that statement.

Dame Rebekah, Faunra, and Jonathan all looked to me. Ameiko looked to me and asked me directly what I did to get the Proctor to sign that statement. I told her the truth. I told her that I told him that there was a Paladin of his faith that was having a problem with cynics of the faith trying to deride his credentials. That there were people who were using the faith for their own benefit and were attacking this paladin because he wasn't their idea of what a paladin should be. I told her that the Proctor had heard what I said and that he already knew about Sir Jaspar's problems. I added that I managed to just catch him after he was done with a sermon, so he might have been feeling generous.

I told her that I also may have confused him a bit with being extremely willing to be subject to a truth-telling spell. I told her that I had informed the Proctor that truth and honesty to oneself can be very addictive. Ameiko was just as confused about this as the Proctor was, and I explained that not being able to lie, even to yourself is a powerful tool to truly know yourself. I added that I had asked him if he could cast a decently high level spell for me, for the appropriate fee, afterwards as well. Ameiko just looked at me like I had told her I was actually a two headed, snake necked giant demon and had decided to take up knitting because the venerable doily was the true source of arcane power.

Ameiko told me that Cyrdak and Sir Jaspar would probably find me and Savah as friends of their family now. She said that we probably didn't know just what it meant to Jaspar and Cyrdak to have that kind of thing happen. I asked her if she could keep a secret. Ameiko smiled. I leaned in and whispered to her that the Proctor had asked me when and where the ceremony was and strongly hinted that he'd be here for it. Ameiko smacked me fairly hard and told me that she was going to have to pull out all the stops now for the banquet. I told her to start tallying up the bill. She shook her head and told me that there was no way that she'd charge us for this now. The amount of Chaos that this is going to cause by a Lawful Priest coming to town is just amazing. She told me that she thinks I just handed something over to Cyrdak but that this was worth it. I was confused and she changed the subject by noting the approach of Jaspar's sister Hayliss.

Ameiko smiled in the best frenemy smile she could, acknowledged her presence and excused herself. I asked Hayliss what that was all about. She told me that she didn't like her brother's boyfriend for some reason. Something about him beating her out for a part in a theater production in Magnimar. I replied with just a huh. She made the motion to just brush it off and asked how I managed to get the Proctor to sign that. I whispered to her that he didn't just sign it, he wrote the whole thing. Her jaw about dropped. I just smiled to her and Savah gripped my arm tightly. Savah noted that I could get anything done if I put my mind to it. Hayliss nodded and said that I had certainly did her brother a good turn with this. I told her that it was the right thing to do, even if I did come at it through chaotic means, echoing Ameiko from before. Hayliss wished us well, and went off to talk to some of the other townsfolk.

I started looking over the feast meals that had been brought up and was a bit upset that we didn't bring anything. There was a large amount of people who were fascinated by the fondue set up that Jesk had his people bring over for it. Him and Alma were getting a lot of attention because of the dual natures of the food working together. I decided to change up the dynamic a little and take a slice from an apple and dip it. This got the people who were flocked around the fondue cheese set's attention and they started trying all number of things. Some good, some bad. But it was experimentation for experimentation's sake.

In the midst of all of this disordered ingesting Cyrdak made his way up to us. There were tears in his eyes and a giant smile on his face. He begged to know how I had managed to get the Proctor to write that (he recognized the handwriting). Again, I told him the truth, that I simply asked. He told me and Savah that we were always welcome in his theater, that if we ever needed, we could call on them for their support. I thanked him for that and said that I needed to discuss something with him that needs to be addressed for the Crystalhue celebration.

He conspiratorially pulled me aside and asked me what I had done. I told him that I needed to trust that he could keep a secret from everyone, even his significant other. He thought for a moment and told me that he would. I told him that there were a few things that would have to be taken into account for the event. First, that there would be more people getting betrothed. I asked what the current tally was as far as he knew. He told me that in addition to Jaspar and Himself and Shayliss and Jonathan, Banny Harker and Katrine Vinder had made their declarations known. I told him that he could add the pairings of Dame Rebekah and Chelger Fespen, Faunra Felldoom and Shalelu Andosana, myself and Savah Bevaniky, and if I can pressure them enough, a secret pairing that I need to work on to get them to agree to do it. His eyes lit up with there being at least a whopping seven couples for the event.

I told him that there was another issue with it. He said that he already knew that Ameiko was going to be catering it, and that he would just have to deal with it. I added that there is a lot more to deal with. Garridan Viskalai would be responsible for some of the food and at least one desert. He asked what desert and I found a piece of bread, used my power to make it taste like the tiramisu, I handed it to Cyrdak and told him that it tastes like this. His eyes went wide and he asked if I was going to be providing anyone else with this recipe. I told him that I had promised this recipe to just Garridan. He told me that it just meant that he would have to get Jaspar to take him there from time to time with a wink. I told him that I'd also be expecting Jesk to bring his Fondue and the other variety that I would talk to him about later.

Cyrdak asked me to confirm that I was looking at bringing Ameiko, Garridan, and Jesk into the same building for the purpose of providing foods for the banquet. I told him no, not in the least. He seemed to have a sigh of relief before I continued with that it would be a lot more than just those three. I was expecting to have a lot more people in the community benefitting from the economic stimulus that would be this event. He about fainted. I suggested that he sit down, because, and I quote, "just wait, there's more". He looked at me with a hint of fear in his eyes. I whispered to him that this was the most important part to keep secret. I told him that he should be ready for some big people from Magnimar to show up for the event. He asked how big. I told him that I would still be working on getting more but that the Proctor might just be the start. He fainted. He actually fainted. I looked over to Ameiko and saw her smile at that.

Sir Jaspar rushed over and asked what had happened. I told him that I had told him a secret that only he needed to know right now. I asked if he needed me to wake him up. Sir Jaspar nodded and I conjured the smell of smelling salts under Cyrdak's nose. He snapped awake and jumped up, slapping me across the face. Sir Jaspar was a bit taken aback by this, but I told him that it was okay, that I deserved this. I told Cyrdak that I would understand if he wanted to rescind his previous offer. Cyrdak told me and Savah, "Oh no, there is no way I am letting such troublemakers get away with this. You do realize that this means war." There was a wide smile on his face when he left with Sir Jaspar to go talk to Sir Jaspar's sister.

Savah slapped me playfully and said that I sure know how to make enemies. I told that I think it was more of just rivalries. I added that I think I forced my way into something much bigger than me with the opening salvo of chaos that I have set into motion. Faunra mentioned that I was playing a very dangerous game. I told her that I agreed, but that was when it was the most fun. Besides, I doubted that any of them would actually take steps to cause me real damage, except for Titus, and we just neutered some of his support. I noted to Jonathan that he is getting what he deserves for blocking the improvements I am trying to get for this town.

We greeted a few other people, including the Baretts. When I saw Alergast, I asked him how everything was going by name. It's important to try to remember people's names, and it is probably easier for me now that my breathing is actually functional. Good oxygen to the brain and all that. I hobnobbed with some others and gave them little tidbits of ideas that could help them. I got through the crowd of people with Savah right beside me. Once or twice she nudged me to get me to give her a kiss. I didn't resist at all. I assume that it was to keep some of the societal vultures from trying to swoop down and catch me up. Or maybe she just wanted to show others that I was hers. Either way it's all good. Shayliss caught back up with us after telling Ven everything that he needed to know about the excursion.

The interest in the group tapered off a bit after a while, and we continued on to the Armory. We unloaded the new weapons and armor into the display area. Jonathan was the big MVP here, again, with his ability to lift hundreds of pounds effortlessly. We got the armors stood up or hung where appropriate, and the weapons all mounted in the displays. Savah directed us exactly where to put each item, and when it was done, we all unloaded the extra materials for the further suits of boron armor that we had acquired. I told Chelger that his and Shayliss' armor would be being made tomorrow, barring any unusual circumstances, and that they would have to be back for the fittings. They both nodded and went on to their current residences.

Savah noted that she should head home too, oh wait, she already is, with a wink. Dame Rebekah noted that their rooms had the skylights installed that they had asked for. We even had a full meal set out for us and I knew that it had to have been delivered by Ameiko's order while we were mingling with the townsfolk at the Harvest Feast. We all got our gear put back into the proper places in the ESR, and dove into the food. It was good to be able to relax in a place we called our own. Jonathan noted that he wouldn't be staying here long, as he had a house to go fix up. I congratulated him on his purchase and told to just ask if he needs anything. He told me that he wouldn't say no to some of the amenities that I had been planning on making for here. I told him that once I worked something up I would see what was needed and let him know.

Dame Rebekah noted to me that now that it was just Faunra, herself, Savah and me in the place, that we might need to secure the place a bit better. I agreed and asked her what was her thinking? She said that it might be good to block off the entrance to the catacombs and put a strong door down there. Savah noted that our bedroom was down there, and Dame Rebekah said that with Jonathan leaving, there was a free bedroom up here. I told Savah that it was up to her, but that it did make sense to have that area blocked off. I mean the main reason why I was down there was because I snored like a wood-chipper before, and now I didn't. Savah said that it did make sense, but that it would take a lot of effort. I said that we can revisit again in the morning. I told them that I had some modifications to make to the armor, as long as everyone was willing, so I'd fire up the ovens and get things going.

Faunra and Dame Rebekah both agreed, so for the last three hours we have all been keeping an eye on the ovens to make sure that the materials worked well. My supply of atmospheric derived Argon was running low, so I set that machine up as well. If I put a tap on the bottom side of the boxes, I could recover some of the argon for further use. That would require making a pipe tap, a pipe thread, and finding some pipe dope though. I'll save that for a more ambitious project, like getting the buildings in town fresh water. I won't make the same mistake as the Romans and use lead though. Probably copper. Unless I find a way to make it easier with just base stone, but that would take a long time to drill. Savah's coming over to me with some mischief in her eyes. I better save this and close it off for now.

Savah had come over to let me know that she had thought about the bedroom situation. She told me that she'd really come to liking the way that we can sleep in just about any position that we want in there. I agreed but that it really wasn't the safest situation. I told her that I could try to see if we could figure out where the stairs going up go to, but there was a set of stairs that had noises coming from them. It really would be best to find a different place to set up something similar. I told her that I would make it a priority, but that for now we would probably have to make due with beds and hammocks until I can figure it out or hire someone to do what we need. She accepted that but noted that we had not moved our stuff up, so we'd have to spend the night in our current room with a wink.

We got the materials make and I added the hood modification to the armors, and a filter set up. Faunra asked if I could make some specific modifications for pouches and what not, so I did. Dame Rebekah asked for something similar so I helped her with that as well. I asked what Savah might want, and she told me that she could use a set of pockets as well. I added them, as well as a few loops. For myself, I included the pockets that I needed, and a pair of snug loops on my shoulders that were set up to function as holders for flashlights. I also set up a specific pair of pockets, one on my hip and one on my chest. Both sized for a cellphone. I figured that I could use them for holding my tablet and cellphone specifically. Everyone seemed happy with the modifications, and Faunra was already loading her pockets up with spell components.

Dame Rebekah mentioned that she'd be heading out to spend some time with Chelger. Savah wished her well. Faunra told us that she'd be spending some time in her room focusing on transferring spells from Lyrie's spellbook to her own. I told her good luck, and that left just Savah and me in the Workshop. Savah noted that we had some time alone now. I agreed and said that we could probably get out of our armors and she rushed ahead of me to the ESR. I followed behind her, making sure to get the charging room set up and get the radios into shape. Having the whole days charging the batteries while we were riding back really helped.

Once the radios were set up to charge, I grabbed one of the batteries to charge my phone and tablet in my room during the night. I went into the ESR and Savah was already in her bedclothes. She helped me out of her armor and asked if I had thought anymore about making the armors easier to get out of. I told her that I had some ideas, but it would still take at least thirty seconds to get out of the harder sections. I can't do anything for the base layers without a complete redo of them or something that could cut the material. She asked me if Adamantine could. I told her that I didn't know, but that it might. I told her that a diamond edge possibly could, but my world didn't have Adamantine, so we don't have studies on it. She smiled and laughed a bit.

I got into my sleep clothes and we headed out of the ESR. Savah ran into the pantry and got a pair of mugs filled with cider. She smiled at me and asked if I could cool them down. I did so, and asked if she wanted them flavored as something else. She told me that we could figure that out later. She started heading out towards our bedroom. I followed behind her and brought the stuff with us that I was planning on bringing. We got there and our bed was waiting for us. I set up my phone to charge, while Savah got everything ready for bed. She stripped down completely and beckoned me to come into the bed. I went to get into bed and she shook her head. I stripped down to my boxers and tried again. Again, she shook her head. I stripped down fully and got into bed. I asked her if we could wait to do something for just a few more days. She sighed, but accepted. She ran her hand through my chest hair and rested her head on my chest. I decided to finish up these notes and save the journal entry.
