Day 41: Moonday the 29th, Lamashan, 4707

I had gotten back to my room and gotten changed. Savah was already asleep. I nestled into bed and she cuddled up to me, and it put me to sleep right quick. My dreams were of an army that used clockwork golems, redesigned to be more efficient, with shocking fists and electromagnetic rail cannons as artillery. The soldiers were dressed in armor that I had designed and wielding fantastic weapons that fused technology and magic to be the best of both worlds. They fought off armies of attacking giants and dragons and were winning. It was fucking glorious.

I woke up not feeling nearly as bad as I had expected. Savah had brought me some coffee. I usually didn't drink the stuff, but today demanded it and I was thankful her for it. I told her as much and we got dressed and ready for the day. Savah noted that she had gotten most of the stuff that I had told her I would need yesterday, but needed to head out to get the rest of it today. I nodded and asked her if she wanted me to go with her. Savah shook her head and noted that I needed to get this project done and behind us so that we can start up our better school in Sandpoint. I asked her if she was sure about that, and she said that she could always sell her stuff out of the bigger store that we make for her in the new building.

I smiled to her and headed down to the dining room. Dame Rebekah and Jonathan were at the table. Dame Rebekah noted that Faunra was working on enchanting items, and would be done in four hours or so. She added that Faunra had said that she would be available to confer with me about the upgrades that I was intending on making on the Lord-Mayor's golem. I thanked her for the update and noted that I would end up spending a lot of the day today making the components today for them to be installed tomorrow.

Savah took me to the area where she had acquired the parts that I had told her that I needed to make the two shocking gauntlets. She assured me that nothing was magical, so I wouldn't be violating the rules of the challenge. I had found out that Savah had acquired a fair amount of electric eel hides that would work as a great insulator, and had even managed to find gold foil, rather than the copper I had wanted. I smiled and told her that this would be perfect and that she had done great. She smiled and said that she would be heading back out shortly. I hugged her and told her how much she meant to me. She smiled and said that she couldn't wait for us to get a little while alone after we didn't have to worry about Echidna.

I started out by making multiple layer rolled capacitors. I figured that I needed to go for strength for the outside layer, so I got out a section of the B4C fabric that I had brought with us and wrapped the outside of the capacitors with it. I checked the capacitors with my multi-meter. They very nearly maxed out my capacitor reading, but they matched so balance shouldn't be an issue. I made four of them and some rudimentary switching systems so that when one of the capacitors was drained, it swapped over to the other. I also included a shunt that would flip over to just causing arcs when all of the capacitor bank was full, to prevent any overcharging. I would never have been considered OSHA approved back in the old world, but I was fairly certain that they didn't have a branch office in Magnimar, at least as far as what I saw with the Sawmill.

With the capacitors done, I started making the high voltage transformers that the systems would need. With a bit of genius, I got with Jonathan and had him lift my bike while I used the rear wheel to wind the copper coils quickly. I thanked him and he shrugged before heading back to whatever he was doing. I put the coils on some simple iron cores and made sure that everything would run smoothly. I had a little bit of the coil wire left over so I planned on making a generator on my bike to recharge my appliances while I drove it. I would have to set up a voltage regulator for that, but the current project didn't really have the need to have such a thing. I might actually be able to salvage something from one of my charging units back home.

I made some quick wiring that was double layered, eel then B4C, in long enough sections to allow me to install everything later. Faunra dropped by and checked in on how I was doing. She gave me some information on how everything worked for clockwork golems and she helped me with redesigning some parts of the project to accommodate it. Really, it was just making the things into an oversized gauntlet and bracer. It would not have worked on a smaller scale, or for a weaker thing, but she gave me the thumbs up so I went about doing what I needed. I figured that I would still be able to install this gauntlet tomorrow afternoon. I would have wanted to make two, but there just wasn't enough time. The generator portion, which was what Faunra really helped me the most with, would all have to be done on site.

The whole day was taken up with just dealing with this stupid challenge. I really need to watch my mouth a little bit more. At the end of the day, Jonathan treated us all to a decent meal of ale battered fried fish and his take on seasoned fried potatoes. I worked with Faunra to conjure up some various dipping sauces and we all enjoyed our meal. Dame Rebekah noted that she had gotten permission from the town watch to go to the Arvensoar, the large tower not too far from the villa, and went to the top. She added that she gave some calls out over her radio but wasn't sure that anyone from the group of people arriving her would have heard her.

Dame Rebekah also noted that we received a credit slip today from the Church of Desna, for three thousand gold. I nodded to Faunra and she nodded back. Faunra told them that this was the other half of what we got for those evil masks from the church of Desna. I noted that now if someone gets really hurt or diseased or something, we have health insurance. They all looked at me oddly, and I just told them to ignore my ramblings.

We all finished up the day with Faunra taking more of our things to wherever she was doing her rituals on them and Dame Rebekah retiring early. Jonathan told us that he would be going out to get more supplies for when the other three get here, and Savah and I retired to bed to fall asleep far too quickly. I hate Echidna.
