Day 44: Oathday the 1th, Neth, 4707

I woke up to my newly faithful alarm, Veronica. Her voice was in my head telling me that I had slept a sufficient period of time and that she would like some guidance on what to work on today. I started to stir, but Savah was draped over me and resisting any attempt to wake her from her slumber. I thought back to Veronica that she should continue working on the batteries until they were completed today. Veronica replied that they were all fully completed. I responded back to her mentally to ask if she was done with the alternator. Veronica replied that the alternator was complete, as was her tool set. I congratulated her on doing such a good job, and asked if she could install the alternator on my bike in such a way that the movement of the rear tire worked to rotated the alternator and generate power.

There was silence for a good thirty seconds while I could feel her scouring my mind for examples. She then responded to the affirmative and that she would start a second alternator for Savah's vehicle after she was done with mine. I thought to Veronica that I had not made that command and Veronica pointed out that she was a part of me, and had the same feeling towards Savah reflected in her. I drifted back to sleep after Veronica went back to work.

I woke up the second time to Savah's requests that I go get her some coffee. I got up, got dressed, and headed out to the kitchen area where Jonathan was already setting about making food. I finally had to break down and ask Jonathan how many hours he slept a night. Jonathan responded back to me without even looking up from what he was doing, telling me that he rarely could sleep more than two hours before having to get up and do something. I asked him if that was why he got so interested in cooking. Jonathan nodded, while whipping up some eggs for scrambled eggs, and noted that cooking was generally much quieter than other activities. I told him that I could understand that, and asked if he had any coffee prepared. Jonathan pointed to a steel pitcher that was seated on a ceramic plate. There was steam coming off of it.

I fetched the coffee and brought it back to Savah. She initially refused to get up, but relented after I told her that I had brought the coffee that she had sent me for. I had cooled it down to a reasonable temperature with my prestidigitation abilities and she downed it right quick. I helped her get up and get dressed after giving the both of us a standard morning primping with prestidigitation. I did up the bedding as well. Savah asked if we should get armored up, and I told her that we could talk to the rest of the group to see what they were looking to do today before putting all of that on. Savah smiled and kissed me on the cheek before we headed out.

Jonathan was still in the kitchen making a wide swath of foods. Faunra and Shalelu were already up and at the table, eating and briefly discussing the events of the previous night. Shayliss was hunched over a steaming cup of coffee as well. I inquired to the group about Dame Rebekah and Chelger, and Faunra told me that they had went to a morning service at the Chapel to Iomedae before daybreak. Shalelu volunteered that Ameiko had not yet stirred from her rooms, but that Dame Rebekah and Chelger should be back soon. I thanked them both for the updates, and asked if everyone had any plans for the day. Faunra noted that she was going to be working on some disenchanting and enchanting today, while Shalelu said that she would be checking in with some of her contacts here in Magnimar.

Ameiko came strolling out from the bedroom area as Shalelu told us all that, and apologized that she missed the update and asked what we were planning for the day. Shayliss groggily filled her in, and added that Jonathan and her had some last bits of paperwork to fill out for their Tavern. Apparently people at the guild hall were causing problems. I sympathized and said that bureaucracies can be like that. Ameiko looked at me oddly and asked what I knew about bureaucracies. I told her that back where I was from, the government controlled almost everything, from registering the citizens at birth, to issuing permits for them to operate vehicles, to indicating whether someone could even work in some jobs or not. Faunra seemed aghast at the legalistic nightmare. Ameiko asked if I was actually from Cheliax. I told her that I had never heard of that town, and Savah resolved to give me a decent education about all of these things when we got back home.

Ameiko kind of dithered a bit and finally said that there was a slight issue with that, as the glassblower had contacted her yesterday and told her that he would be ready to head out the day after tomorrow, and that we were going to have to find accommodations for him in the Glassworks, which was getting ever more crowded. I thought back, With Oren staying there in his own room, Arika spending more time there than not, and Vaeren taking up another room, that leaves only one of the converted rooms for the glassblower. They will eventually want assistants and other workers to be there with them. It seems like it is time for Savah and me to get our own place. Maybe with a guest bedroom for my "Cousin" Oren. Since I do have permission to build a school, it might be time to look into a place for it.

I snapped out of it when Savah nudged me. I shook my head for a bit and apologized that I was just trying to figure everything out. Ameiko told me that we could still stay at the Glassworks, and that we could definitely continue to utilize the ovens to make our armor and such, especially because a large part of the glassworker's tasks coming in will be to completely inventory everything and get lists of what he needs to the already promised projects. Savah spoke up and said that we were going to need to get a wagon to bring back everything and everyone that we need to for the return trip, so that she was going to need to go out to buy one. I told her that I would go with her, since I didn't have any other real plans, and that I could sever my business contacts with the Bronze House in person while we were out. Jonathan spoke up from the kitchen, saying that if everything about them was true, it might not be a good idea to do that.

I looked to Savah and she nodded in agreement. Basically everyone nodded in agreement. I shrugged my shoulders and said that I would still like to head out with Savah anyway to get the wagon. Savah said that she had no arguments with that. Ameiko said that she had to go deal with some things for the continued taking care of the townhouse, especially since we had to take the measures that we did when we got here. We all went back to our respective rooms and got ready in our own ways. I made sure that there were enough charged radios to support everyone being able to talk to us. I helped Savah into her armor and she helped me into mine. We headed back into the main audience chamber and everyone seemed to be ready to head out.

I passed the charged radios to everyone and told them to call out if there were any issues that they couldn't handle individually or that needed the attention of a different member of the group. I added that the common curtesy of radio calls is to say over when you are done speaking, and to wait about thirty seconds before attempting again, to see if someone is going to respond to you. I added that if it was an emergency, you could wait ten, but that you might walk over someone else's response transmission. Then I had to spend a few minutes what walking over a transmission meant. Faunra picked it up very quickly, and helped to explain it to everyone else. We all went our separate ways, while Savah and I headed to the garage/stables.

Veronica was there, just putting the finishing touches on the alternator of Savah's bike. Veronica saluted Savah and went back to work. Savah looked to me, and I told her that I had developed a way for the radios and such to be recharged while we were driving, so that we would be less reliant on the solar panels and other power sources. I told her that eventually, I would be making her a phone to match mine, and that we could communicate further distances than my radios allowed, if needed. Savah asked why it might be needed, and I told her that if she ever had to head to Magnimar, while I had to stay in Sandpoint, she could contact me with anything, or vice versa. Savah nodded and said that she doubted that she would be able to with the bike, as most of the time, she needed a wagon to haul everything.

Inspiration hit me and Veronica asked if I wanted her to work on two of those while we were out. I sent her a mental thank you for the quick thinking and that it would be most helpful. She saluted the both of us, appeared to take some measurements with a miniature tape measure, and then ran back to her shop. Savah looked to me with a bit of confusion, and I told her that the surprise would be worth it. Savah nodded and we got on our bikes and rode out from the courtyard. Jonathan was kind enough to have the gates opened for us so we didn't have to stop and get off our bikes. He also closed the gates behind everyone that was heading out. We headed off down the busy Magnimar streets towards the Capital district, to then head down to the Dockway to get to the Bazaar of Sails.

While we were riding, Savah explained to me that just getting the Wagon wouldn't be enough. We were going to have to register the wagon's change of ownership with the Guild of Carters and Coachmen. I asked her if she was kidding, and she said that she was not. We were going to have to ensure that the change of ownership happened so that there would not be any issues with the City Watch. I nodded and said that I expected that there would be an extremely long line for service there, and that there would only be one or two people behind the counter, and finally that we would have to take a number ticket to tell us when they were ready to work on our cases. She looked at me strangely and asked me how I could describe it so accurately if I had never been there. I told her that DMV's were the same universe wide. She looked at me oddly, but didn't press the subject.

We were riding down the streets of Magnimar when a heavy fog rolled in. We slowed our bikes down to a very slow pace of just over twice walking speed and figured that this should be safe enough. As we made our way to the slope to head to the Dockway District, I noticed that the lights on the front of our bikes were giving people some notice that we were coming but not enough. I tried to use my prestidigitation powers to change the headlight's coloration to amber, and it seemed to work. Nice to have fog cutters even for a little bit. I did the same to Savah's bike and we continued on our way.

We made our way down the busy streets to the infamous Bazaar of Sails. At least Savah had told me previously that it was infamous. We had been here before, to offload a bunch of things and get more supplies the first time that we came to Magnimar. I think that I was a bit preoccupied to really give the whole thing a good look over. Savah had taken point and we were driving right to a large lot where they had different carts and wagons with people looking them over. Of course, we caused a scene with our vehicles. Savah did most of the talking, except when she referred someone to me for some details about the bikes. I tried to give the best answers that I could, without revealing too much information. After about an hour of pestering, I finally told the merchant that there were trade secrets involved, and that I didn't want to spark off a war between the Stone of Tears and the Golemworks by revealing more.

That quieted the questions down right quick. I noticed that Savah gave me a brief look and a smile before going back to haggling. She had finally made a deal when she remembered that we didn't have any horses to pull the wagon away. I told her that we could lash the wagon up to the bikes, as long as we took it slow. She asked me if I was sure that this would work. I told her not really, but that as long as we kept our speed mostly the same, we could get within radio distance of the rest of the group and Jonathan could get it the rest of the way, if need be. She nodded and passed the money over to the merchant, who was a little disappointed that he wasn't going to be able to sell the wagon to someone else for more while we went to get horses.

I worked with some ropes and the already existing harnesses to lash the wagons to the back of the bikes. There was some difficultly starting out, until we decided that I would follow her lead, as I could match her speed easier than she could match mine. We slowly crept back to towards the Capital District ramp, going barely more than walking speed when a brown haired woman with a LOT of daggers walked out in front of us. Even I could notice the people who were waiting on the sides of the street for her to give a command to attack us. Savah told me to stop and we did. She got off her bike and went to greet the woman. Savah told me to stay on the bike.

Savah came back with the woman, who introduced herself as the Princess of the Market, Sabriyya Kalmeralm. She reiterated to me that she had been told that we had stolen this wagon, and that we had threatened the merchant. I looked to Savah and she nodded. I told the woman that Savah had purchased it from the merchant, after some bartering, and that I had been busy answering questions about the bikes to people, until I told them that there were trade secrets that I couldn't reveal, unless I wanted to spark a war off between the Stone of Tears and the Golemworks. The Princess of the Market listened to my explanation and seemed to be evaluating each one of my words. When I was done, she asked Savah if she had gotten a bill of sale. Savah produced one and the Princess looked it over. She seemed to be inspecting the handwriting and a grimace came across her face.

Sabriyya told us that we had indeed purchased a wagon from the person who had written the bill of sale, but that the person who had claimed that we had stolen it was from a different lot altogether. She told us that she would handle this and bid us on our way. Savah got back on her bike and Sabriyya nodded to the people on either side of the street. Everyone seemed to relax as we headed back towards the Capital District. Once we were out of earshot, Savah explained to me that this woman was like the Lord-Mayor for the Bazaar, and that her word was law. Savah added that we were lucky to have the bill of sale, otherwise she would have confiscated the wagon and all of our belongings. I thanked her for the foresight, and Savah told me that she had learned early on that the Bazaar of Sails was not the place to be flippant.

As we passed through the Dockway district's crowded streets, people made way for the amber flaming skulls heading through the fog. Most people were a bit intrigued as we passed, as even in Magnimar, it wasn't a site seen every day. A person in heavy plate armor seemed to be a bit confused looking at us, but turned and walked on after we passed. Savah whispered to me that we had just passed a Paladin, and that they seemed to be checking to see if we were evil. I thanked her for the information, and resolved that I would need to get much more acquainted with how this force of Magic works here. I didn't want to be taken off guard by a group of spell-casters like at the Pediment Building just a few days ago.

As we made our way to the ramp to the Capital district, the time ran out on our lights, so I re-upped it and we headed off. We had to take the ramp at barely a crawl to keep going. I realized that if I was going to make an engine that would work for a wagon, it would have to be substantially bigger than the bike ones. I figured that I would do the math when we got back to Sandpoint. As we crested the ramp, I noticed that the fog started getting much thicker. I motioned for Savah to stop and we slowed our bikes down. Just then the mist started to clear. Savah was looking at me when a bolt of lightning flew from behind her and struck her in the back, knocking her down and striking me at the same time. It felt like the time I go hit with 480, only a hundred times worse. My muscles involuntarily clenched but I worked my way through it.

I managed to catch a glimpse of the perpetrator and fired off a shot from my pistol at him. He was floating a good twenty feet off the ground and the round pushed him back a good twenty feet. He must have had no resistance to the inertia at all for it to hit him and throw him back like that. Then again, I think that he has one of those mage armor force things up so maybe it took the brunt of the hit and just moved him back. I think I saw that I tagged him though. Then he lit me up again with another lightning bolt. I think that he figured that it would only take one more hit to knock me down. I managed to avoid the most of it and was greatly thankful that Savah had slid off her bike on my side when she had gotten hit. I don't think this second bolt hit her.

He also moved back another sixty feet, the bastard. He was outside of a comfortable range for my pistol, even with the laser dot, so I grabbed my air rifle and hoped to dissuade him from firing another with a well-placed eyeball removal. As I lined up the sight, I could see him starting to make some different hand gestures than the one that he had made to launch the lightning last time. I fired my pellet at him and missed his eye. I did hit him square in the middle of the forehead. I think some of the oil from last time is still in the barrel, as the pellet seemed to light on fire just after leaving the end of the barrel. Not that I am complaining, but I might need to get more of that oil.

The shot seemed to knock him out because he slowly started drifting to the ground, making it to the cobblestones after six seconds had passed. In that time, I checked on Savah and she seemed stable. I didn't want to take any chances, so I pulled out one of the emergency potions that had been split up among the party and carefully poured it down her throat. She came to almost immediately and was looking up at me with what I felt was pure love. She hugged me tight and I told her that while I appreciate her showing me how much she loves me; I didn't know if we were out of danger yet. She nodded and got her radio out to call the group. Remarkably, it was still functional. I heard her voice come out over the radio that we were under fire from an unknown number of assailants at the top of the ramp at the Capital District.

I walked over to the body of the person who had attacked us. It was an elf that seemed to have electricity coursing through his body erratically. I don't know if I will ever get used to this place. I looked over his possessions, and something must have been knocked out of alignment in my brain from all of that electricity, because I could see auras around certain objects one his person, and even around the spellcaster himself. I pocketed all of the stuff that I could see was glowing and made sure that he wasn't dead yet. He looked much worse off than Savah, but stable. Maybe the electricity was keeping his heart pumping? All I know is that this is at least third time in a week that I've been attacked by a spell caster of some sort. I need to talk to Faunra in a polite way to see if she can help me figure out ways to be more defended against these kinds of attacks.

I heard Ameiko's voice come over the radio that she was at the Pediment Building, and that she can be right there. Faunra's voice came over the radio and said that she can be here shortly if needed. Dame Rebekah's voice chimed, somewhat muted, in that she was at Beacon's Point, and that it would take her a while to get there. Jonathan responded that he was at the School of the Four Winds here in the Capital District, but would rush to get here if needed. I chimed in that I had taken down the sole assailant that had attacked us, and that I would be waiting here for the City Guard to come and arrest me. Ameiko chimed back in that she would be here within minutes, and to hang tight.

I dragged the assailant back to the bikes and loaded him up onto the wagon, before having a spot of inspiration and handcuffing the person. Savah recommended specifically tying all of his fingers together and gagging him. We did that and I asked Savah if she needed another healing potion. She shook her head and said that it would be better for her to still be wounded when the guards get here. I helped her get back up on her bike and I got back on mine. We waited for a few minutes until the guards showed up. I held my hands up away from any weapons and Savah did the same. What surprised us is that Ameiko was there with the guards. She had apparently briefed them on the way and only conducted a brief investigation. I guess being a noble has its perks. The guards took the spell caster, removed the restraints that I had put on him, and placed him in other, more appropriate restraints that looked to be tailor made for spell casters.

I couldn't help myself from asking the guards where they got the restraints that they used for the spellcaster. One of the guard told me that they had a standing order through The Most Excellent Order of Smiths in Beacon's Point. I thanked him profusely, and asked if we would be needed for anything else. The guard recommended that we be more careful in the pursuit of our lady's missions. I assured him that we would, and that we would be heading to the Guild of Carters and Coachmen to register the wagon and then head directly back to Lady Kaijitsu's villa. The guard nodded and went with the other guards to head out.

After they had walked away with their charge, Ameiko came over to us. Without saying as much as a word, she cast some healing spells on Savah and myself, curing almost all of the electrical damage from both of us. I thanked her again but she just shrugged it off, saying that it was nothing. She told us that she still had business to deal with in the Pediment Building, and wished us well. As she walked off, I told Savah that I thought that I should get a set of those restraints for the next time, so that we have something to deal with a spellcaster without resorting to twisting rope around fingers. Savah asked if I was expecting to get accosted by spellcasters that frequently. I told her that it never hurt to be prepared.

I paged out over the radio to Dame Rebekah to see if she could hear me. She told me that she could, and I asked her if they could drop by the Most Excellent Order of Smiths while they were in still in Beacon Point to inquire about the spellcaster restraints that they make there. Dame Rebekah replied that they would, and I thanked her. Savah and I got back on our bikes and headed towards the Guild. While we were driving, Savah asked me what was wrong. I told her the truth, that we had been attacked by spellcasters twice, and that I didn't know of good ways to defend us. I added that I knew that she could easily hold her own in a knockdown fight, but spellcasters fought differently, and that I was going to have to spend some time learning how to defend against them since I was planning on staying here for a long time.

We rode the rest of the way to the Guild house talking about our future plans, and how we needed to get set up with our own place. Savah noted that we could always go back to The Rusty Dragon, and I acknowledged that, but added that it would only be good as a short term, as it didn't feel right to take up space that Ameiko could be using for her business. Savah agreed with me, and I told her that we could make whatever house/school/shop that we wanted. We had some time after all. She smiled and we went back to discussing what to expect at the Guild house.

It was everything I expected from a fantasy DMV. I could swear that the lady behind the counter was the spitting image of a woman from a DMV that I dealt with back in Virginia. She had the same accent and demeanor even. The only thing that changed was the attire. We dutifully got our tickets (one for the wagon, one to register as a vehicle building business, two more to register our bikes) and sat down. I asked Savah why we should have to register the bikes if we made them in Sandpoint, and she told me that it would help us to ensure that if they were stolen, the Guild Members wouldn't protect the thieves and would work to get the bikes back to us. I nodded and noted that it was similar to an organization that I belonged to back where I was from, more than the DMV. Savah said that the guild couldn't prevent someone from using a wagon or cart in Magnimar or elsewhere, but having the wagon and bikes be registered is a layer of defense against thieves and such.

We were called up and a middle aged half-elven man in a worker's outfit with glasses, holding a book, a quill, and an inkwell greeted us and told us that his name was Barial Gallus. He asked us for the ticket numbers for the wagon and the two bikes. We gave them to him and he walked out with us to our vehicles. He did a brief once over for the wagon and found a brass plate hidden underneath a seat. He flipped through his book and asked if we had a bill of sale for it. Savah handed it to him and he nodded. He wrote some things down in the book and asked who we wanted it registered to. Savah told him that it should be registered to the Sandpoint Technological Access and Research School. I looked over her with a renewed appreciation, and muttered, "Stars, huh?". She smiled back to me.

The man wrote some more notes in the book before going over to the first of the two bikes. He looked at them for a second before asking if there was an identifying number for either of them. I thought about it for a second and used my prestidigitation powers on my bike surreptitiously to give my bike a serial number of A001. I told the inspector that this bike had the number of A001 and that it was manufactured by me in Sandpoint. He told me that he would have to verify it. I used my power while he came over to my bike to make Savah's bike have the number of B001. I made a slight light flash where it was so Savah could see it and point it out to the inspector.

The Inspector took note of the number and wrote it into his book on a blank page. He asked what the driving force was, and I told him that it was a magic powered steam engine. He looked up at me from over the tops of his glasses and said a single word, gnomish? Savah responded that I had made it entirely by myself. I thanked her and said that I was merely putting things together that were already in existence to make them work. The inspector made a huh sound and went back to work. I gave all of the details that he needed to fill out his paperwork. He went back over to Savah's bike and got the appropriate answers that were required. He wrote on a separate sheet of paper a bill to give to the receptionist when we were finished with all of our required services.

We went back inside and sat back down. Savah noted that we did well for this, and I was kind of upset at myself for not giving these serial numbers in advance. Savah asked why mine was A001 and hers was B001. I told her that my bike had modifications that hers did not, so it was a different category. She nodded and asked if it would help her to have my modifications. I told her that most of the mods that I did required frequent focus. Savah nodded and said that she didn't really want to be bothered with all of that. I nodded and said that I wanted her bike to be sturdy and easy to drive. She thanked me for the consideration.

We were soon called up by an individual in a very much different attire. She was dressed in a courtier's outfit and we were well received. The auditor introduced themselves as Carla Fieraru. She noted that she had the pleasure of knowing who we were from the event last night. She asked us what we were here for. Savah noted that as part of the "Magic" School that we were founding in Sandpoint we were going to be having a vehicle manufacturer business that the students would work at as a part of their education. Carla asked if she could see the vehicles that we would be making. We all walked out to look at the bikes.

Carla seemed a bit taken aback by the design, until Savah told her that it was pretty much like riding a blind horse. Carla didn't seem to like that description, but asked if there was a lot of call for these. Savah spoke up again, telling Carla that the Sandpoint guard was going to be using a modified version to do their patrols outside of the town. Carla asked if it wouldn't be cheaper to just have horses, and Savah responded that these might cost three times as much as a horse, but required no food, were available whenever you wanted without the prep work, day or night, and could go at their top speed for as long as the rider could last. Carla asked how fast, and Savah told her that we had made it from Sandpoint to Magnimar in less than five hours, with an attempted waylaying by road bandits included.

Carla was a bit shocked by that, but said that she could expect something like this from gnomish engineering. Savah laughed and told her that gnomes had nothing to do with it, that it was all me. Carla looked over at me and I told that I wasn't from around here, and that these things were even faster where I was from. Carla asked how fast, and I told her that I would regularly take a trip that was the distance from Magnimar to Sandpoint twice a day, each time taking about an hour. I added that this wasn't even the top limit for how fast vehicles went there. I told both of them that the vehicle that I drove had made a similar trip in less than forty-five minutes, and could probably make it in less than thirty-five minutes if I was really pressed and the conditions were right.

Carla asked if this was the fastest that the vehicles went. I shook my head, remembering the Viper that a former XO from back in the Navy had, and told Carla that I knew a person who had a vehicle back there that could make the trip in just about fifteen minutes. I added that this was just the ground vehicles. I told them both that I someone had once worked for me that owned a private plane, a vehicle that flies through the air, that would get here in about twelve minutes, or a short enough time to deliver pizza and still keep it warm. Carla asked what pizza was, and Savah was listening as well. I described how it was a shell of dough, hand tossed and made into a flat disk, where a special tomato sauce was placed, then a type of stringy cheese was place on top of the sauce and various toppings were place on the cheese, from sliced peppers to ham, to bacon, to even more different types of cheeses. I did NOT mention Anchovies or Pineapple. I will not be the source of that degeneracy here in this world.

Carla asked if we were taking commissions for the bikes, and Savah said that we had a waiting list, and that we had a special commission from the Lord-Mayor after that, but that we could work her in and possibly have it done by Crystalhue, if she wanted to come pick it up then, but that she might want to get in touch with us earlier, as each one is a custom manufacture. Carla said that she would consider it, but that it would revolutionize the courier business from Magnimar to Sandpoint and back. Savah told her that she had no idea, and that the unpowered ones were already looking to be purchased for the couriers in town. Carla seemed a bit curious, but didn't mention anything else.

Savah brought up the subject of the business license to try get us back on topic, and Carla snapped back into business mode. Carla told us that since we were not manufacturing these from scratch, and that since we were not displacing the work of other wagonwrights, it shouldn't be an issue, and issued us another ticket for payment. We made our way over to the original counter and Savah presented the tickets. She handled the payments and we made our way out of the building to pick up our vehicles and drive back to the Villa. We had little badges to place on our vehicles which kind of signified that the Guild would be looking out for them when we were in Magnimar. It was up to us to apply them somehow. We also had a certificate that gave a nominal membership of the Guild for the purposes of building our motorcycles.

We left the guild grounds and made it back without any further issues. By the time we had gotten back, everyone else was already back. Apparently no one else had as much excitement as we did, with most everyone else just dealing with the thick fog. Dame Rebekah noted that her temple has issued her a one use wand to help exorcise the evil of Foxglove Manor, so we could all deal with that on the way back to Sandpoint. I nodded and noted that it would be good to put that to bed right quick. Jonathan asked what we were going to do with the Sawmill here. Ameiko indicated that we could probably sell the mill to the Carpenter's guild in return for the work that was needed to repair Foxglove Manor if we wanted. I was all for that, and it seemed like everyone else was as well, so we asked her to deal with that tomorrow before we left. Ameiko told us that she would have her family's agents deal with it and get us the contracts sent to us in Sandpoint.

I asked if there were any other pressing details that we needed to confirm before we would all head back to Sandpoint. No one seemed to have any other issues, so we then pressed to more important matters. What were we going to do for the rest of the night? Ameiko was silent for a minute while we all bounced ideas off of each other. None of us really had any good ideas, and Ameiko offered to that we could just kick back and relax before heading out tomorrow morning with the glassblower. I think that everyone agreed to that, and we looked back into the stores that we had acquired to see what kinds of meals we could make for a meal. Jonathan and Ameiko worked together to pull out some different things, and Jonathan volunteered to whip up some bland fried potato crisps (chips) and a bland dip that I could use to flavor with my powers to give everyone a chance to taste stuff from back where I was from.

I told everyone that I had an idea how we all could watch a movie, but it would require a couple of things. I rattled off the list, and surprisingly enough we had enough of everything here to make it work. I got to work with Veronica while everyone else was getting food and drinks together. Veronica mentally told me that the carts were ready and could be hooked up to the bikes while we were working together. I thanked her and asked if she had any thoughts on what she might need to work on next. Veronica reminded me that she was just an extension of me, and would mainly work on things that I assigned her to do. I asked her if she could start the process of working on an electrical shop so that we could work on more high tech items. She took some images from my mind and noted that she would have to wait to get to Sandpoint for a lot of the things, but that she would start on what she could. I thanked her and we finished up on our quick little DIY project.

As we finished, I brought the projector into the dining room. There was food and drinks around the table and I asked if anyone could get a thick white sheet to hang from the ceiling so that we could project the image on it. Dame Rebekah went to go get one, and I set the projector up. I asked everyone what kind of show they might want to watch. Ameiko was at least somewhat familiar with my devices, so she was up for anything. Savah, Chelger, and Dame Rebekah all wanted something romantic. Jonathan and Shalelu wanted something exciting with some fighting, and Faunra wanted something intellectual. I told everyone that I was going to try to have a bit of everything in the choice, so I loaded up the only thing I could.

I pressed play on The Princess Bride. I had the volume maxed out on my phone, but the rest of the group all were kind enough to not have any other cellphones or electronic devices on, so there were minimal disruptions. Everyone watched through the whole movie as what would have apparently considered high level magic was reproduced with about two hundred and fifty gold worth of items and my phone. When the movie was over, the questions began. I started off with telling them that in this story, it was based on where I was from, so magic didn't really exist. That quelled some questions immediately, but others like why didn't Wesley just kill the bad guys when he caught them had to be answered with the fact that this was a movie intended for children, and that my society generally frowned heavily on murder.

By the time that all of this was done, everyone decided that they would like to do this again some time. I noted that I would try to rig up a better system back in Sandpoint so that we could get this a lot clearer and better sound. Ameiko asked if I had any performances of musicians back where I was from. I told her that I had a lot of music, but no videos of them performing. She nodded and said that she might want to hear more sometime too. Chelger agreed and said that this was fascinating to him how someone could create a story like that, and include all of the outfits, gear and everything down to the last detail. I noted that it was pretty much the same thing that Cyrdak did for plays, but that there were hundreds of people working together on every movie to ensure that everything was perfect. Chelger nodded but I could already tell that there were cogs working inside his head.

It was getting late, so we all decided to retire for the night. I sent a message to Veronica that she was to start working on getting wiring made for the shock maces that we were going to make for the Lord-Mayor when we got back to Sandpoint. Tomorrow, on the road, I figured that I would talk to Faunra about defenses against mages and the like. She had to know a bit more than me about what magic users were capable of, and how to stop them from hurting the ones that I care about and love. Savah curled up to me in bed and is waiting for me to finish my notes for the day. She still is amused that I keep writing down my notes into this tablet. I'm just glad that I will have something to remind me of all of the important details when I get older.
