Gone.

That's what he is now, what their relationship is now… gone. It's how they do it every time. A little fight here, a little fight there. Nothing big. This time it was a big fight over something stupid, as usual. She doesn't know if he'll come back now… he seems to have wanted to leave this time… like he seemed eager to.

Rory stared at the door of their bedroom, looking into the empty hall where she had just saw Jess, not even 45 minutes ago. She shuddered as she thought about their encounter.

Flashback

"Rory stop it! Just stop it! This is not my fault!" Jess usually said her name sweetly, filled with passion and love. The way he just said it now was filled with anger, aggravation, coldness…

"Well it's not mine either!" Rory's face was filled with frustration, and tears were at the lids of her eyes, about to spill over.

"You promised you would pay the damn bill!" Jess ran his hand through his hair, thinking about how stupid this fight is.

"You've promised me a lot of things! Never happened!" At least it was stupid, until Rory opened that can of worms.

Jess looked at her, anger rising, "Like what?!"

Rory sighed heavily and sat down at the end of their bed, "Like… you promised to take me to Hawaii, you promised to take me to prom, you promised you would stop smoking, you promised you would never lie to me, you promised you would never leave me, and you promised you will always love me!"

Jess looked at her angry as he'll ever be, "We don't have the money to go to Hawaii right now! I couldn't get tickets! I tried everything, and I only smoke when I am stressed! I never lie to you, Rory! I always tell you the truth! I didn't leave you that time you left me! And I will always love you, even if that is a burden sometimes!"

Rory let the tears spill over and she stood up, "What about Hannah? Huh? What about her? You cheated on me!"

Jess rolled his eyes, and threw his head back with frustration, "Rory! I swear! I did not cheat on you! You told me it was over, so I had to move on! That was last year… you wanted me back so I dumped the girl! I love you!"

Rory laughed bitterly, "Love? Ha! What do we know about love? All we do is fight!"

Jess shrugged, "That's what we do!"

Rory sighed, and sat back on the bed, "I don't want to fight, though, I'm tired of it."

Jess shook his head, "We're going to fight… that's just us."

Rory was sick of it, yea she loved him, but she wanted this fight over, "Then maybe I don't want an us."

Jess nodded slowly, "So that's just it, huh? You going to go run back to Logan, now? Because he can take you to Hawaii, he won't smoke, drinking is more his thing, and he can love you? He won't lie to you right? Because he's Logan…He won't ever cheat on you… whoops, he has done that, hasn't he?"

Rory put her hands to her eyes, and sighed, crying hard, "Get out!"

Jess nodded, and turned on his heel to walk out, "Gladly."

End Flashback

Rory looked at her clock that read 12:43 A.M, and she sighed. He has been gone for an hour now. She knew he wouldn't come back. Maybe this will determine their relationship. If he comes back they will love each other, still fight, but love each other. If he doesn't… they're done.

Rory lies down in her bed, and drifts off to sleep.

Her eyes pop open to the sound of the thunder, she turns over to look at her clock, 3:56, and he's still not here. Guess that says it all… they screwed up.

She turns over and closes her eyes, again. Thinking by 5:30 if he isn't here their relationship is gone. She falls asleep, and wakes up to a cold wet arm being put around her. She wakes up and smiles, then looks at the clock 5:29. They're still good.
