Day 49: Toilday the 6th, Neth, 4707
So begins what I expect to be a fairly normal schedule for me back here in Sandpoint. I wake up with my animatronic alarm clock asking me for her new orders, which I telepathically provide, today to work on gear for the kitchen and the garage. Savah wakes up at the same time that I do, and we both spend a little time in bed together. Arika has brought a breakfast of cheese danishes and other pastries, so we make coffee and all get to head out to work. Apparently Oren is fitting in just fine with the guard, and they are starting to listen to his suggestions a bit more. I went to the Armory store with Savah and asked her what she would want for lunch today. She said that she'd like to get out of the store and get a burger at the Bolting Barghest. I told her that we should be able to manage that. Then I went to the workshop to get to work.
Today, I started work on Oren's bike. It was a stripped down model, like Savah's. I've gotten into the swing of things now, and I'm starting to put these simple bikes together fairly fast. With Veronica's help, I managed to get Oren's bike assembled before lunch time. Now there were three bikes on the shop floor done, while Vaeren was working on the finishing touches on his bike. He was being very specific with his, no doubt he wants to enchant the thing when he is done. Not that I blame him, if you can, why wouldn't you.
Veronica is starting to work on Arika's bike when I send to her that I am heading to lunch. She raises a tool in salute while continuing to work. I get my bike out from the garage and roll down to the Armory storefront. Savah is standing there, waiting. I ask her if she wants to go for a ride, and she hops on the back of my bike. We ride off, heading to the Barghest.
When we get there, Cyrdak is in the middle of a performance. Everyone claps and appreciates the showing. Apparently Gorski liked it a little too much, and got a little bit handsy with one of the wait staff. Jonathan was about to rip his head off, when I stopped the fight. I spoke to the wait staff to see what resolution they wanted. They simply wanted an apology from Gorski and a promise to never do this to them again. I went over to the Gorski and told them, in no uncertain terms, that Savah and myself were both witnesses to this, and that if he wanted to keep his contracts, and the lucrative business that I had created for him, that he would do what was right.
Gorski went over to the wait staff and they had a talk. Jonathan monitored it from a distance. They shook hands and the event blew over. Gorski came over to our table and said that he didn't appreciate being threatened. I told him that it was no threat, that if he thought that he could just put his hands all over someone just because he wanted to, that I didn't think that he would be someone who could run the recycling empire that I had planned for him, and that I would take my resources and ideas elsewhere. Gorski thought about that for a minute and grinned a toothy grin. He said that he liked the sound of that, and headed off.
Savah smiled at me and said that she was glad to see me stand up for that girl. I told her that I really didn't like it when people took advantage of other people, and that I was telling the truth to Gorski, that if he wanted to be that way, I would take the recycling plans and equipment that I had in my mind elsewhere. Savah hugged me and Jonathan came up and thanked us for handing that. I told him that it was no big deal, that I was just trying to return the favor of him helping me earlier in the week. Jonathan nodded and went back to work.
Savah and I then took a quick trip to the work site, where I dropped off the daily pay. Aesrick asked me about my bike, and what it was like to ride it. I asked Savah to give him the details, as she would be much more familiar with how to describe the differences between riding these bikes and riding a horse. Aesrick said that he would be very interested in looking into one of these bikes for himself, eventually. Savah said that she could add him to the list, but that we were probably booked out to Crystalhue. Aesrick said that he would probably wait until the next year anyway to get a bike made, as he was too busy to actually enjoy riding it until then.
Savah and I rode back to the Armory and I dropped her off at the storefront. She smiled and went back in to the store and I rode around to the garage. Vaeren was getting ready to take his bike out on a test run. I told him to be careful and went inside. Veronica was working on Arika's bike, and I got to work on finishing it. Sometime between then and dinner, Vaeren had come back in, having a little bit of a scuffle on his bike, and was back to working on it, tinkering with it to perfect it. I left the shop to go get dinner, and told Veronica to work on tools and gear for the garage. She saluted and did so. We had almost finished Arika's bike, all that was left now was the waiting for things to cure.
Dinner was a nice, private affair between Savah and myself. Arika and Oren had taken James and Hayliss to Cracktooth's. I noted that it might be good to go to Cracktooth's tomorrow. Savah agreed, but said that tonight we were just going to have the night together. We retired to our bedroom early and enjoyed our time together.
