Day 54: Sunday the 11th, Neth, 4707
Not much in the way of dreams tonight, mainly just really happy to wake up next to Savah this morning without a literal sword of Damocles handing over my head. I got Veronica started on her next eight hours' worth of projects before getting up from bed. I made sure to get as much ready for Savah as I could before bringing her breakfast in bed. I got everything together and got back into the room to see Savah sitting up on the bed already. I took her food over to her and stayed with her while she had her meal.
Once she was done, I helped her get dressed and got the room cleaned up. I asked Savah what she used to do on Sunday mornings before I showed up. Savah shrugged and said that she mainly would just kick the last night's partner out to the curb. I mocked outrage and indignation before noting that she didn't kick me out. She smiled and said that it was a very long Sunday morning. I asked her that if she was going to kick me out, to make sure I land on my ass, as it is the most cushioned part of me. Savah smiled and said that she would definitely consider it.
Savah said that she was going to take a tour of the property again, this time with security in mind. I thanked her and said that I would be working on getting this book dealt with. Savah asked me if I had any clue how much longer it might take, and I told her that my tablet was having a lot of trouble with the writing and I was having to type in each word in when it couldn't figure it out, so maybe four more days, including today. Savah nodded and said that she would make sure that the Sandpoint theater was ready for my new projector. I noted that it wasn't exactly ready, and she told me that Veronica could work on it, since she wanted one in the upstairs sitting room.
Veronica thought to me that she heard and will comply. I told Savah that Veronica said that she would make it. Savah said that of course she would, she knows what's up. Savah smiled and walked off, swaying her hips deliberately as she went. I got the Grimoire Serpentis Ferra from the secure resting spot and went back out to the workshop. Veronica didn't bother me during the day, but she did manage to bring me drinks and food when she sensed that I was hungry or thirsty. The book was fascinating. There was a lot more in the pages that I read today about the fabled martial art. There were a LOT of things that looked like they worked with what I had been taught before, but like what I learned back on Earth was preschool and this was pre-med or pre-law.
I spent part of the day mimicking the stances and practicing them. There were some where I knew that the stance was missing something from the illustration, and so I made sure that the picture that I took for the eventual book had everything in more detail. As I finished this chapter, Savah came in and asked if I was ready to show my new debut. I told her that I had given no thought to what to show to the people of Sandpoint. Savah suggested to me that I just that one story that I had showed to everyone else. I asked her if she thought that the townspeople of Sandpoint would get bored with The Princess Bride. Savah said that we should be okay at least the first time.
When we got there, after having to explain to Cyrdak exactly how it would work, and with the lights down as low as the could possibly be, we got people seated and the movie started. It was amazing. The people loved it. The little kids were swinging branches like Inigo, the larger kids were rhyming like Fezzik. Notably, no one was acting like Vizzini. Cyrdak asked if I had more shows like these. I told him that I likely had ten or so more, some that are part of a series. Cyrdak asked how willing I would be to put on a new show every month, on the weekends when he doesn't have another performance. I looked to Savah and said that I would be glad to when I didn't have other duties or work to accomplish.
Cyrdak and I shook on it and noted that we had something here that they didn't even have in Magnimar, and that I should look into any way I could to make the picture bigger and clearer. I noted that I could try to make an old fashioned projector, but that it might take me weeks to make the individual slides for the movies. Cyrdak said that we could be set for life with a play that never changed and was always the same level of performance. I noted that I had some more skits that were shorter, if he wanted something that was under two hours long. Cyrdak said that he would think on it, but that I needed to get on a better projector. I said that I would, but that this one would likely go in my new house's sitting room.
Savah and I went home, listening to all of the people talking about what they had just seen. Savah gripped me tightly as we got on the bike and rode back to the Armory. I noticed that there was a pair of guards, Silver Enda and Jubal Nakrimor, waiting for us at the garage door. I asked what the issue was, and the two of them said that they were assigned to keep a watch over the Glassworks due to the events of last night. I looked to Savah and she kind of shrugged. I thanked the both of them and asked if they had previously had a break or a meal. They told me that they had not, and I told them that if they wanted, they could come in and grab a bit or use the facilities. Jubal looked like he wanted to come in, and Savah told them both that it wouldn't be against their rules to come in if they were here to look after either the building or us.
We all went inside and got them some sandwiches and some coffee. Silver didn't like the coffee, and I asked her what she did like. She told me that she liked whiskey, so I made it taste like Jameson single barrel. She took a drink and drained it after that. Jubal asked if he could have his drink's taste changed. I told him of course, and he told me that he liked rum. I made it taste like Cracktooth's rum. They both seemed a little more amiable after that and asked us what had happened. Savah told them the whole story and when she was done, Silver told us that we were lucky that she had heard the assassin. Savah noted that it wasn't luck so much as her experience with sneak thieves and burglars.
Jubal thanked us both for the meal, and the ability to use the facilities and said that they needed to get back to their rounds. I nodded and told them that we were heading to bed, but that we were grateful for them keeping an eye out for us. Silver said that she was glad to be able to help the person who had made their new armor. Jubal nodded and said that this was much lighter than the old stuff. I added that it wouldn't rust either. He nodded and they both headed out to begin their tours.
Savah smiled to me and we walked back to the bedroom. We helped each other get changed out of our armor and our day clothes, and got into bed. Savah asked if the book was really interesting. I told her that it was, and that it might help me to understand a bit more about how to deal with magic. Savah smiled and said that it would be good to be able to defend against it. We went to bed without worrying about what was going on for at least a minute.
