Day 63: Toilday the 20th, Neth, 4707

I woke up before Savah again and went to the kitchen to make food. As I started to make food for everyone, Chelger came in and saw that I had already gotten coffee made and thanked me. I nodded and continued to make a whopping amount of eggs, and bacon. I went back into the room to see that Savah was up and getting dressed. I told her that I had breakfast in the common room and she smiled and kissed me on the cheek before heading out of the room before I followed her.

When we got out to the common room, Dame Rebekah, Chelger, Oren, and Arika were already there, digging into the feast. Savah sat down in her spot, and I did mine as well. We all had our meals and enjoyed a little light banter. I noted that I needed to update Chelger's armor today, like Dame Rebekah's. Dame Rebekah agreed and said that she needed to get back to the Manor to observe the work that was going on. Apparently there had been a small fire yesterday, but it was recovered from without much issue, and Dame Rebekah wanted to ensure that there were no further issues with the labor or the materials.

Oren and Arika said that they would have to go to their shifts, and Savah noted that she had to get the shop ready for another day, so we all broke and headed to our appropriate tasks. I led Chelger down to the workshop and had Veronica working on his armor updates after telling him to just tell her what he needed. I had a bit of a bigger thing to deal with. I knew that I didn't have to go through the complicated issues of transforming the power that my generators would create to a higher voltage to minimize heat losses in the lines, as the lines would be short enough that I could get away with pretty much just making whatever I needed. I would however have to make everything feed into, and take from, a battery bank to allow for conditioning of the power.

Also, while I needed to ensure that the rig set up would be strong enough to charge these batteries that this world has, I didn't need to go all out and make this a massive turbine generator set like back on the ship. It needed to be bigger than a bicycle generator, obviously. But, if the math works out correct, and I haven't missed anything, I could probably get away with something more along the size of one of my bike's engines, and a suitably big enough generator and make everything work out right.

Since Veronica had spent all the night last night working on making the copper conductor that I would need for the windings, I started working on the rough plans for a DC generator to attach itself to an engine. I would have to get the parts for both of these back in Magnimar, when we next made it there, but I at least had a plan and a shopping list. I am certain that Savah would know the best places to go to look for everything. She knows the best places to find everything.

I'm certain that I will need to double check all of my figures when I get more of the materials in place, but I'm fairly certain that I will be able to fully charge up two of these special batteries that this world has per hour while maintaining household lighting in all of the rooms. Maybe I can work on having Veronica do more of the detail work that will be needed later on and we can get into making circuit cards to start making cameras a possibility at the doors, but that will be a way off. Recreating all of the advancements from the high medieval period to modern day certainly won't be done in a few months let alone what time I have now.

After a few hours of making calculations and taking measurements of the voltages of the batteries that we had, I decided to check in on Savah. She was doing fine, and wouldn't be remiss with a bit of a meal soon. I told her that I would fix something up, and headed upstairs to the kitchen. Noticing what all we had, I settled on what I could make of a set of tapas, with what we had that was easily sliced or cut up. I grabbed two ciders and brought them down with me, flavoring and cooling them as I went.

Savah saw me out of the corner of her eye and hurried the people out. We went back to the sitting room and started to eat. We talked about our days so far, and Savah reminded me that Cyrdak and Jasper might be dropping by today. I thanked her and noted that I had been to stuck in my formulas and planning all day and had forgotten it. We finished up our meals and went back to our respective work areas. Chelger was admiring his armor, noting how defensive it was, yet how freely moving it was too. I thanked Veronica for her help in this and she saluted before starting work on more wiring.

Chelger thanked Veronica and myself for the upgrade and noted that he had to rush home to help Dame Rebekah. I wished him well and got the shop ready to work on the next item. It wasn't too long before Cyrdak and Jasper came knocking on the workshop door. I let them in and asked how things were going for the both of them. Cyrdak was his normal self, and Jasper was a little quiet. There was a little small talk before Cyrdak excused himself to talk with Savah a bit. I asked Jasper what the issue was, and he noted that his mercantile group has been dealing with more frequent raids from Skrunter's Boys.

I asked Jasper who the Skrunter Boys were. Jasper sighed and said that Melgur Skrunter used to work for him for a brief period of time, and that when she left, she took that knowledge with her to go lead a band of bandits in the Whisperwood. She's been more frequent in her raids recently, a lot more daring, and a lot more ruthless. Jasper told me that some people were looking into having deliveries made by Deverin's Shipyards. He continued that every time he tried to send a group out to catch her, she evaded.

I took all of this information in and thought about it while I listened. When he finished, I asked him when his next shipment was. Jasper told me that it wouldn't be until the 29th. I told Jasper that I would talk to the rest of the group to see if they would be available, and if so, we would go with the group in disguise and try to take the bandits unaware. Jasper thanked me and we started working on his armor. I took input from him on design elements and included an inset holy symbol over his heart. At the end of my work day, it was done and it looked fantastic, if I do say so myself. I tried to maintain a lot of the aesthetics of the banded mail that he used to wear, with a heck of a lot more mobility.

Jasper thanked me and I told him that I was most interested in seeing the people of this town better able and equipped to defend it if there were things like goblins, ghouls, and such in the areas around this. Jasper agreed that it was a crucial thing, as we did seem to be dealing with a lot of dangerous situations recently. I asked Jasper if the town thought that me or my group was responsible for any of these things. Jasper told me that everything he had heard from those who were not inclined to be against us didn't do so, but those who held grudges against us were freely airing their suspicions. I thanked him for his intel and wished him well on his way.

Before he left, I noted to him that if he paid a visit to Faunra, she might be able to perform a ritual to transfer the enchantment from his old armor to his new one. Jasper thanked me and I noted that I was going to have to get on the radio to her anyway to ask her about her about her availability on 29th for the escort issue. Jasper again thanked me and asked if it was at all possible, that he would like to have Melgur brought back alive, so as to face charges and justice. I told him that we would do our best, and that I would inform the rest of the group of this request. Jasper thanked me and headed off.

I got out my radio and tried Faunra and Dame Rebekah to see if they were available. Dame Rebekah responded back immediately, and asked me what the issue was. I asked her to drop by the shop or the Barghest in the next couple of days as someone needed our help in the near future. Dame Rebekah noted that Chelger had made it back okay and that she would drop by sometime in the next two days. I thanked her and paged Faunra again. Shalelu responded and noted that Faunra was occupied with a guest, but that she would pass along the message. She also noted that she would be dropping by tomorrow to have her armor updated if it would work with our schedule. I told her that it would, and she confirmed.

I set the radio back on the charger and went back to see Savah. She was just locking up after a fairly profitable day. She ran up and hugged me, and said that she would have to restock sooner than she had expected if she had another day or two like the past ones. I asked if the reduced prices were going to cause problems with her profit margin. Savah shook her head noting that she while she had reduced her prices, she didn't drop them below what it would cost her to restock, especially with the reduced time that it takes for her to get new stock, as long as we can find a way to get more stock in the bike cargo. I told her that I would talk to Faunra about it later.

We finished locking up our various rooms and headed upstairs. Oren and Arika were making dinner for us all. Oren was leaning a lot more on Arika's knowledge of ovens and baking, and providing occasionally helpful ideas of what to do with chicken and such. We had a good meal together and were packing up for the night when I heard the radio go off in the workshop. I excused myself and rushed back down to answer the call. Faunra was responding to my previous call, telling me that she had gotten a visit from an Elven wizard from a place called Crying Leaf, who was named Eviana.

Apparently, this wizard wanted to hear her stories of the village of Faunra's birth, having heard rumors of her being from ancient Thassilon. Faunra said that she would tell us more when she dropped by tomorrow with Shalelu to have her armor updated, but that it seemed to go okay. I thanked them both and wished them well on their trip tomorrow. Veronica was working hard on the winding materials, and I was thankful that I had something that could work incessantly at minutious details. I resolved to thank Faunra for this and headed up to get some rest. I have a feeling that tomorrow will be a busy day.
