Hey I do not own the song " Better Than Me" by Hinder. This fic came to me while I suppose to be doing my homework, surprise surprise.
"I think you can do much better than me, after all the lies that I made you believe. Guilt kicks in then I start to seethe edge of the bed where your nightgown used to be."
Tommy sat on a stood in a smoky bar, guitar in hand playing a song for 'her'. Every song was for her. Each week he would have a new one for the " Crystal Room" regulars. The rain poured outside and was audible against his mellow voice. He thought about the lies he had told her. From her sweet 16 to five months ago.
" I don't love anymore, just leave."
" Tommy, no, we can work through this, baby."
" Leave!"
"I told myself I won't miss you,But I remember what it feels like beside you."
Jude came to the Crystal Room every Tuesday night. It was the only time she could see him. So would have said she was stalking him, but the sound of his voice always soothed her weary soul. He had a new one every week and she listened intently as he contuined to play the sad slow melody.
"I really miss your hair in my face and the way your innocence tastes, and I
think you should know this:
you deserve much better than me."
Tommy breathed deep as he remembered the next words. He played the chord progress with precision and tried not to look out into the crowd. He had given up on looking for her. She was gone.
"While looking through your old box of notes,
I found those pictures I took that you were looking for.
If there's one memory I don't wanna lose - that time at the mall, you and me in the dressing room.
I told myself I won't miss you,
but I remember what it feels like beside you."
He tried not to smile as the memory flowed into his mind.
" Come on Tommy. I need to buy a new outfit."
" What's wrong with the ones you have."
Jude gave him the look and he smiled as she pulled him into a department store.
Tommy sat waiting for her to make up her mind.
" Tommy will you come in here, please?"
Tommy walked in; Jude grabbed him and kissed him. Her arms went around his neck and his at her waist. Her legs wrapped around his waist and he pushed her against the wall. After a few minutes an elderly lady interrupted them. They left blushing and picked up were they left off at his apartment.
"I really miss your hair in my face
and the way your innocence tastes,
and I think you should know this: you deserve much better than me.
The bed I'm laying in is getting colder, wish you never would have said it's over, and I can't pretend I won't think about you when I'm older 'cuz we never really had our closure.
This can't be the end - END!"
Jude gave a small smile at the memory of the dressing room. This one was about her. She knew it. Tommy picked up the beat and sang the next verse with all his heart.
"I really miss your hair in my face
and the way your innocence tastes,
and I think you should know this: you deserve much better than me.
I really miss your hair in my face and the way your innocence tastes, and I think you should know this:
you deserve much better than me."
Tommy left the stage with a bow and headed to his guitar case. He packed up and walked out, ignoring the feeling of being watched. He drove home and unlocked the door. He walked in not bothering to turn the lights on and placed the case on the floor.
" Tommy?"
Tommy squinted to see who was talking to him.
" How'd you get in here?"
Jude didn't bother to answer his question. She grabbed him and pulled him close.
" I missed you."
After she spoke she kissed him hard. Tommy's breath was taking away as the kiss intensified.
" And I love you Quincy."
Tommy picked Jude up and carried her into their room and made her see exactly how much he had missed her.
