Day 101: Fireday the 28th, Kuthona, 4707

One day left until the raid. I woke up and immediately summoned up an unseen servant to get us breakfast and everything. When it brought in the breakfast, I woke Savah up and we had a nice breakfast together. Savah noted that she would have wanted to have a day together, but understood that today's training was important. I told her that I hoped that this whole thing calmed down soon too, because I'd love to have a nice quiet life with a shop and a university, and a school, and a burgeoning industrial revolution that I am pulling forth into this world kicking and screaming. We laughed and we got up to get to today's activities. I used my powers and instantly clothed and armored us up.

We headed downstairs together and saw Vaeren and Erika talking in the store. Savah went to go talk to them and I headed into the workshop. The last three guns were ready to be assembled, and I did that. Nine revolvers and nine rifles for the assorted town guard. The ones who were training with Savah would be the ones getting the rifles while the ones working with me on the bikes would be getting the revolvers. Seemed accurate enough. I set Veronica and Igor to work on more things for the eventual college, and checked in with War-Bringer.

War-Bringer responded back that he was performing his patrol and had not seen anything amiss. I thanked him for his diligence and noted that it was likely early in the morning tomorrow that the attack would occur. War-Bringer acknowledged this and declared that he would be on point at first light. I thanked him and checked in with Niddler. Niddler sent to me that he was watching the chickens go about their routines, after having let them out at sunrise. I thanked him and updated him on the prospective attack and let him in on my secret plan. Niddler agreed with the plan, and said that it sounded fun.

I checked the path down from Tanner Bridge, and the Sheriff and his troops were all headed down the way to the house. I went back inside and informed Savah that they were here and went back out. The town guard split off, with Sheriff Hemlock staying with my group to get the second day of training done. I started off with going over the bikes and review what everyone knew. I then had them all practice firing while stable and riding on the bikes, and using melee weapons. When lunchtime came around, it was Risa's again and Besk had been the one delivering. Besk asked me if I thought that the town would be well defended enough against the giants that were attacking. I told him that I was certain that the town guard would be victorious, and that we would just do what we could to support them.

Besk said that he was more confident now, and that he would pass my words on to Risa and his sisters. I told him that I still wanted everyone who could to get into the tunnels first thing in the morning. I added that if he heard the cathedral bells, that he should work to get him and his family to the Glassworks, and failing that, to the cathedral to try to help if possible. I added that if he ended up hearing music, it would mean that the fight is on, and since there might be boulders flying all over the place, it would be good to duck in cover. I told him that I imagined that if everything goes well, it should be over before noon. Besk thanked me for this information and headed back with his cart.

Again, I was faced with the thought that having motorized vehicles would probably make response times much better for this sort of thing. Then I realized that this would mean that the attacking foes could get here much quicker. I guess we would need to figure out how we could defend towns from the marauding Visigoths and such. I got back with the class after lunch and went through some more difficult drills for riding the steamcycles. They were doing fine by the end of it and I was ready for them to go on and finish their training with the Sheriff. Towards the end of the session, Niddler informed me that Ameiko was on her way down the path. I thanked him and told the Sheriff and his men that the training for today was done, and that I wished them all well in their further endeavors.

The Sheriff and his town guard all mustered up and headed out, along with those that Savah were training. As they headed up towards the bridge, they passed Ameiko and it looked like pleasantries were exchanged. Ameiko left the troop and headed on to talk to us. When she got her she asked Savah how she was dealing with my kind of insanity. Savah smiled and said that my insanity was just crazy enough to be interesting. I beamed with what I thought was a compliment.

Ameiko then addressed me and asked me if I had even read the music that I had given her. I told her that I had not, but that I was certain if Chask had figured that it would be good, it was a good choice. Ameiko kind of bristled at the name Chask and I asked her what was wrong with Chask. Ameiko quickly said that nothing was wrong with Chask, it was Hardred, his great nephew who was the issue. True to form, I was told by Ameiko that he did have a bit of a cruel tongue, but it wasn't malice that was bringing it forward, more of an unconscious response to everything. No, Ameiko said that she had some concerns about some of the lyrics.

Apparently Dave Biccaleigh, the half-elf from Jonathan's restaurant who was the most gifted vocally, was confused about what something having the "eye of the tiger" meant. I grabbed the sheet from her, almost tearing it as she let go. I looked over the sheet. I am not going to lie. It only surprised me so much when I saw the lyrics to Survivor's song on the sheet. I gave them back to Ameiko, telling her that this was a song about someone coming up from as low as they can get and not allowing anything to stand in their way and the "eye of the tiger" is the drive that the person has to accomplish what needs to be accomplished.

Ameiko thanked me and said that she was fairly certain that they would all be able to pull it off tomorrow morning, and I told her that they should be ready in the Theater, as this would be the best location to link the tablet up to the phone. Ameiko nodded and said that she didn't know about having a video of this and I told her that I wouldn't fully record the performance, just broadcast it so that everyone could hear it. Ameiko thanked me and said this allayed a lot of concerns with this and that they would be ready first thing tomorrow. I thanked her again and asked her to pass this along to the other performers.

Ameiko walked back up the path to the bridge and I turned to Savah. I asked her what she'd like to do with the last day of safety before the chaos of tomorrow. Savah smiled and said that we should watch get our gear in order and then watch a movie with friends. I lifted an eyebrow, and asked, friends? As if on cue, I heard a pair of steamcycles roaring down the road from the bridge. It was Faunra and Shalelu. They pulled up and Faunra said that it was more rational for all of us to be in the same area for the fight of tomorrow.

I heard the flap of wings and Dame Rebekah and Chelger both arrived in town. They landed, dismounted, and the pseudo-pegasi went over to a grazing area of the land that we had cleared from the trees. Dame Rebekah and Chelger said that they were ready to help and that the regent left in charge of the manor was prepared with the people who were there. As if on cue, Jonathan and Shayliss floated over the Turandarok and landed on the property. I noted that I was going to get everything ready on my end for the fight, and Savah was as well, but that they were welcome to hang out in the common room or the library while we did that.

Everyone made their way into the house, and meandered into their chosen place. Savah and I went up to the bedroom and did a double check about everything that might be needed tomorrow. I got my armor and weapons set up, with the sheath for the machete already on the armor. Savah and I then did a quick check on each other's gear. When everything was good, I summoned up an unseen servant to get snacks set up. When we were all ready, and Oren and Arika were back, along with Vaeren and Erika Brati. We arrayed ourselves around the room and I keyed up The Avengers. I told everyone that we'd stop whenever anyone needed it, and we watched the grand battle flick.

When it was over, the questions from Erika came about how she had never heard anything about this, and how those buildings were amazing, and the horseless carriages, and the firearms, and the flying things. I stopped her and told her that the movie wasn't real. She sighed in relief and said that it made sense that none of it was real. I told her that most of what she brought up was real, but the Avengers themselves were not real. Erika seemed stumped. She said that the things that I had said were not real were the most realistic. Savah spoke up and noted that we all had a very early morning tomorrow.

While the movie was playing, I had sent the unseen servant to put out the bedrolls in the common room downstairs for any who were staying that didn't have a room, and everyone said their goodnights. Everyone took their rooms, with Jonathan and Shayliss heading back to their place for the night. When we all headed out, we told each other that we would be able to handle this with no worries.
