Unnamable Setback
What REALLY happened at the happy ending for Christine and Erik:
Christine hugged Erik tightly, realizing that she couldn't even imagine being without him. "I love you," she mumbled into his chest, as her face was pressed against it tightly like she would never be separated from him again.
Erik was in shock, since he had never heard those words uttered to him before. He had always wanted, but never dreamed, that those words would come from Christine. Erik slowly wrapped his arms around her and whispered back, "Christine, I love you."
They stood like that for what seemed like hours, although they were merely minutes. Suddenly, Erik pulled back from Christine.
"What's wrong?" Christine asked. She couldn't believe he was pulling away from her.
Erik looked down at her and smiled, his eyes glinting…mischievously? No, that wasn't it. It looked more like he had a secret he was dying to tell. Then, with his quick and graceful Phantom movements, he was suddenly on one knee. "Christine, will you marry me?"
Christine grinned down at him. "Yes Erik, I will marry you!" He stood up and her arms went around his neck as he twirled her around and kissed her.
Christine giggled with delight with a sudden uncompleted thought she had to voice. "I'm going to be Mrs. Christine-…." She stopped, and Erik seemed to have picked up on what was wrong as well.
Erik looked at Christine apologetically. "I'm sorry, mon ange, I never thought I would have needed a last name."
The End
AN: Hahahahaha. Has anyone ever wondered that? Teehee, I had to make fun of all the cheesy "will you marry me" endings in the fanfic realm of Phantom of the Opera, because if that happened (and hopefully not as cheesy as it usually does happen) what would their last name be? Phantom? Who knows.
Oh, and I own a lot of the Phantom of the Opera products, but none of the rights. I own my wonderful sense of humor and imagination too. D
