Day 135: Oathday the 31st, Abadius, 4708

I woke up after only four hours of sleep, feeling extremely rested. Savah was there looking at me as I woke up, smiling. I asked her what was up, and she told me that she had asked Faunra to reproduce the effect of the Red Rooks for our bedroom. Savah offered up that she felt that I needed to get more things done in a day, and this was the best way to do that. I smiled and told her that there was another benefit as well. Savah asked me what that was, and I noted that it would give us more time together when this was done. Savah smiled and playfully slapped me as I noted that no kid's room will ever get this enchantment on it. We got up and got dressed and we both went over to the school. I grabbed the two rods of widen and "etheric protection" from the storage area.

Savah went with me to watch me put the protection up around the school, making it so that ghosts couldn't just phase through the walls. It was kind of odd, just because the ghosts could likely find a door or something to fly through, but it could be a decent surprise. Savah asked what other properties I might be looking to defend against. I told her that I hoped to one day ensure that there would be no scrying in this school, and also protect against other attacks. I added that I would also work to get these walls layered to protect further from entry, between stone, iron, and other materials layered. As I added the reinforcements to the exterior walls of the school, I told Savah that I hoped to have this finished before I left.

Savah seemed to be a little saddened by that, maybe it was just the reference to me leaving, but we got into the school and saw that Jonathan was there with cooking up the large meals in the kitchen. He greeted us both and wished us good morning, and told us that everyone else would be here soon. We went into the dining hall and Shayliss was already there, nursing cup of coffee. There was hot pot of coffee and a pitcher of hot tea on the table that she absentmindedly waved her hand towards. I got Savah her preferred drink and got myself some coffee. We sat and Jonathan brought in a hot platter of hash-browns and bacon. I thanked him as I grabbed some for myself and Savah, as she thanked him as well.

While we were eating, Virina made her way into the dining hall in her pajamas. She looked a bit confused and then "eeped" in shock when she noticed Savah and me were sitting there. She rushed out before we could say anything, probably embarrassed or something. After a minute, I received a thought from Veronica welcoming me to the waking world and asked if I wanted to get Shalelu's armor finished next. I told them that we would have to finish it quickly before she headed out to Crying Leaf. Veronica sent me an acknowledgement and I received an assessment that they would all start to work on the armor. I refocused and turned to Savah, and apologized to her, as I had to set the work on her armor back a day, as we needed to get Shalelu's armor done, since she was heading out to Crying Lead. Savah said that she was okay with it, and that we could work on it tomorrow, but that she'd like to head to the workshop to watch me work, if I was okay with it.

We went to the workshop and I got up to speed on the armor that the Quads were working on, which only required another few hours of work. Savah watched me get to work and while I was working I noted that I was going to need to make another set of the tools that were rapidly making these items. I offered up that there should probably be at least one set for each of the kids. I asked the kids to work on this themselves in their spare time. With the armor finished fairly quickly, I decided that I could get to work on the LMG that I needed to make. Virina came in shortly thereafter after Shalelu's armor was done and I was working at the gun. Shalelu followed her to pick up her armor and thanked me after a brief demonstration before leaving with it and a batch of armor for the elves.

Virina finally spoke up after Shalelu left, saying that she was sorry to show up in such a condition this morning. Savah laughed and noted that after I left on the next quest, that she'd share the story with her about how I walked through town in just a pair of pajama bottoms. I dutifully ignored them and continued on my job of working on the firearm. After four hours, I had finished off the light machine gun and told the two of them that I was dropping this off to Faunra. I summoned up batches of unseen Craftsmen to work on the bullets that would be needed as I left the Kinetics lab. The kids were telepathically asked to work on another set of tools for Tank.

Savah and Virina both followed me as I delivered the new weapon to my weapon rack, with Virina asking as many questions as she could about the different things that she had seen or heard about that I had made. When we got to Faunra, she was just finishing up on placing the enchantments onto my bolter. When Faunra was finished, she jumped up, rushed over to us, and hugged me, thanking me for getting so many of the suits of armor done for the elves. I told her that she should really thank Veronica and the rest of the Quads, because they were the ones who worked on it. Faunra shrugged and noted that they were still extensions of me.

When Faunra noticed Savah and Virina, Faunra rushed over and hugged Savah, thanking her also for the armor. Savah said that no one needed to fight those slavers without her assistance, as long as she could manage it. I noted this to myself for later dealings when we were done with Special K. After I get some rocket launchers on the plane. Faunra detailed what all she had done for the bolter after the pleasantries were done, and I asked her if she could quiet this for the range. Faunra cast her quieting spell and I thanked her. I asked if she wanted to give it a try and she got in her new armor. I went back to my armor's place and Savah got hers.

I apologized to Virina that we didn't have a set of armor for her and she shrugged, saying that she wasn't ready to shoot something like that yet. When we went to get the rest of the arms that we would be trying, we found out that Fareine showed up at the store and was talking to Erica. Savah apologized to her and said that she had gotten wrapped up with watching me work. I told her that we'd be firing a bunch of weapons in the range, if she wanted to join. Fareine said that she'd like to, and all five of us went down to the range with the different weapons.

We walked down through the school to the range, while Faunra silenced the other weapons as well. Fareine asked what she was enchanting the guns with and Faunra explained it to her. Fareine said that this was very sneaky and that she loved it. Faunra offered up that she would likely be looking into enchanting silencers to allow the guns to be used quietly. Fareine said that she would probably be interested in something like that in the future.

When we got into the range, I put all of the different weapons on the bench and laid them according to their caliber size. Fareine said that none of these weapons looked similar to the ones that she was familiar with, but she wanted to see the functionality to ensure that she wasn't wrong. We started out with Savah's pistol. Fareine took it and after a brief explanation of the operation took it and fired. She did fairly well and even helped convince Virina to take a few timid shots as well. They were nowhere near accurate, but it was a first for her. Faunra even took a few shots with it.

We cleared the pistol and moved on to the rifles. Savah presented her rifle, and Fareine studied it before taking some shots with it. Virina attempted some shots as well, which were more accurate, but she bowed out of further firearm tries or shots. Faunra did a few shots to finish off the magazine. We put the rifle back at the bench, and I picked up the bolter. I offered it up to Fareine with the caution that she shouldn't put it in burst of automatic. I cautioned her to hold it with both hands, and directed her to fire at her leisure.

Fareine only fired one shot, with the recoil being severe, before setting the gun back down on the bench. I handed it to Savah and she tried it with both hands. She had good aim, and then tried it one handed. She was fairly strong, and the armor helped her, but she needed practice to get it down proper. I asked Faunra if she'd like a try next, and she hefted the gun with both hands, aiming at the target. She had some good targeting from her experience watching me shoot but decided not to continue after the first shot.

I told Fareine that I'd demonstrate the full capabilities of the Bolter. I selected the burst setting and fired off a four round burst at the target. Fareine was impressed. I selected full automatic and let rip at the target. The target was gone. Fareine was amazed. I told her that the rifle that I finished up was always fully automatic. Fareine said that nothing that she had seen back in Alkenstar or Nex was of this technological level. Faunra laughed and said that she should wait until she sees the Railgun. Fareine questioned what the railgun was, and I told her that it would have to be another time.

I ensured that the guns were all safe and we headed back upstairs. Virina asked why the targets were even quiet when they were struck and Faunra answered that the spell that she had cast to minimize the noise had a side effect of sometimes silencing the target of the effect.. Fareine asked if she'd be allowed to stay here and study and maybe learn more about the guns. Savah said that she'd be welcome to stay at the school but training would have to wait until I got back. I noted that food and housing would be accommodated for, once the school was up and running, but that there was a lot of work that still needed to be done. Fareine agreed and went with Virina to find suitable accommodations.

When I got around to checking in on the Unseen Craftsmen, they had a group of eleven batteries and were working on their twelfth. I resolved to get these set up into the armors of the people and enough of a set up so that we can have a good enough amount for the armors to run fairly consistently. This first day would provide for Dame Rebekah's armor for almost forty-eight hours straight. Maybe Faunra will figure out that spell to recharge batteries on the fly. I left the crafters to continue their work, while I went to go get another batch set up. I summoned up a bunch of them to start making paper in bulk again in the woods again.

Savah and I stopped by the Dining hall to pick up some of the food that was left from the morning. Chelger was there, and he was looking over the pantry and what it would need to be filled. I noted that we'd end up getting an order in shortly and he sat down with us. He asked when I might start work on his armor, and I thought about it, saying that I'd probably get started on it the day after tomorrow, since Shayliss' was scheduled for tomorrow. Chelger nodded and asked if I'd like for him to assist in reinforcing the walls around this place. I told him that I'd never demand such a thing from him, but that I'd definitely be grateful. Chelger noted that he had been requesting such miracles from Shelyn and had six instances of which to provide to the effort.

Savah thanked him and told him that she'd escort him to where I had left off. I thanked him and she told me to get to work on the books. I set the armor up in the workshop and started transferring the books from my tablet to paper copies. After a few hours, I had gotten another few books from my thumb-drive. I really need to get this going faster. Maybe the wizards can tell me some way to get this going faster. Savah dropped back by and told me that she would like a meal at the Hagfish. I asked her if she'd like to walk or ride the cycle. She said that the cycle was fine, and we got on it and headed over. Jargie was there and welcomed us both in, before getting us a seat.

He asked us what we'd be having and we placed our order. Jargie got us an order of the biscuits that his establishment was now famous for, and got some drinks set up for us. After our order got put in, Jargie thanked us again for getting Old Murdermaw, and noted that he could never dream of charging us after that. Savah told him that we were glad to help, and that it certainly helped get the food set up for the Crystalhue ceremony. Jargie laughed and asked if we were planning anything similar in the future.

I thought about it for a minute and told him that I had another quest to go on, but that after that, we'd be throwing one hell of a party. I added that if things went well in other ways, we might be expanding the reach of Sandpoint's customers to Andoran or even Taldor. Jargie joked and said that it would be easier to get his rum if that was the case. I agreed, and said that we could even take a week vacation to the Shackles to pick him up some. Jargie looked at us oddly and asked if we really did have a flying ship. Savah smiled and nodded. Jargie said that this would be one way to keep the pirates at bay.

We got our meals and ate a very decent dinner. When we were finished we headed home, thanking Jargie profusely for the fine food. To get home, we took the South Bridge and stopped to talk to the guards there. Oren and Rip where there. Oren welcomed us and started up a bit of light conversation. I asked him how his house hunting was going. He told us that Aesrick had gotten the area prepped but that he had been called to Magnimar by his guild's parent chapter. I asked if he would like a fairly simple stone frame for his house and he asked if it would be like the wall of the compound. I shook my head and told him that it'd be a fairly solid wall, about three inches thick.

Oren seemed really pleased with that, and asked when I could drop by his future house. Oren asked us to hold off for a few days, Savah told him that we would and we got ready to head on, but Rip cleared his throat and asked if he could talk to me for a minute. I told him of course, and walked over to talk to him, while Savah continued to talk to Oren. When we got clear, Rip stammered for a minute and finally got to the subject of what he wanted to talk about.

Apparently one of his cousins had fled from a particularly vicious Linnorm Lord and was talking up residence here in Sandpoint, and Rip had wanted to know if he could possibly go to my school. I told him that he'd be free to come to lessons when I got back, but I couldn't force him. Rip said of course, it was just that his cousin was REALLY fascinated with the bike that Oren had showed him. I laughed a bit and told him that he could bring him by tomorrow afternoon and we'd give him a tour. Rip thanked me and wished me well for the rest of the night. I bade him the same and we went back to Savah and Oren.

Their conversation cleared up and we said our goodbyes and headed on our way back to the house. We got the bike set up in the garage and then we checked in on everyone. Virina and Fareine were getting settled in, when Fareine asked Savah what the story about me walking through town in my pajamas. Savah laughed and I took the hint to walk off and check the kids. They were working on the new set of tools for Tank, with the progress being almost completed.

I asked them how they were doing. Veronica sent to me that she'd like to find some way to talk to each other. I told them that I'd talk to Faunra to see what needs to be done. Veronica thanked me and I asked them to let me know whenever they had anything else that needed to be done. The kids all agreed and said that they would let me know.

I headed back to the house and Savah was there smiling away. I told her that I really didn't know what came over me but the goblins certainly didn't like my sleepwalking. Savah laughed and agreed. We got ready for the end of the day and got our house set up for the night. It was a good day.
