Day 138: Sunday the 3rd, Calistril, 4708

I started the day with Savah being up and ready to talk. She said that since we were going to be doing the ritual for Dame Rebekah tonight, that we could have the morning to just loaf around. I agreed, but said that I'd like to check in on the kids first. She nodded and said that she'd go with me, since this would be the first time that she actually heard them speak, and a mother should hear her children's first few words. We both got dressed via spell and headed over to the school dining hall to check in on everyone else.

The first class of prospective students were in the dining hall and Savah went to go check in with each one personally. Fareine and Virina were talking with Olgar and Olandil about how they had worked on the project to get the kids voices. I went over to Jonathan and asked how he thought that we should plan to keep them fed while we were gone. Jonathan smiled and said that for a small stipend, he could have meals delivered from the Barghest. I told him that this was a perfect idea, and that we'd totally do that, and that he could just get me the amount needed and I'd get it greenlit from the petty cash fund.

Savah came up and gave me a hug while I was making the arrangements with Jonathan. Faunra groggily walked in, gratefully taking an offered cup of coffee, and said that she had just gotten back from getting Shalelu back to the Crying Leaf Village so that she could continue her discussions with the tribe. She added that after this issue with Special K was dealt with, she'd probably go up there to help out, as it was looking like the village would be needing a LOT of help. Savah was a bit upset by that, and told Faunra that she had been hoping that all eight of us could go have a vacation after we were done with the current missions. Faunra smiled but continued with saying that we'd have to wait until later, until everything else was dealt with.

Savah pouted a bit more, but said that we could just have the six of us then. Jonathan shrugged and we'd have to see what resulted from the next quest, but he guessed Shayliss would be good with it. Sensing a time to strike, Olgar came over and asked about the training. Savah said that it was only a short vacation, and that the training would be starting up after that. Olgar seemed a bit miffed, and I added that the kids and Vaeren would still be here for questions, a stipend would be provided, and food would be sent in from The Bolting Barghest while we were gone, and the workshops and library would still be open for the people in the school. Fareine spoke up and said that she'd take that deal in a heartbeat. Olandil voiced his idea that he was to be okay with it as well.

There was a knock on the door to the dining hall and the man from yesterday was behind the door. He had a rucksack behind him and said that he'd be taking us up on the offer. I nodded and indicated to him that he could go with one of the other students to find accommodations, after he grabs something to eat. He looked over to the table and went to go grab a seat next to Olandil. Olgar went back to his seat and the man introduced himself to everyone as Halder Makrosh, and that he was here to learn about firearms. I mentally noted that he should be placed with Tank.

I checked with everyone and made sure that they were all okay, before heading out of the school. I told Savah that I was going to quickly get Niddler's greenhouse worked on before we went wherever she wanted to go to for our day off. Savah smiled and noted that she just wanted to spend a day walking around Sandpoint and checking in on everyone. I told her that I'd be done shortly, and asked if she thought that I needed to be armed up. Savah laughed and said that she didn't think it was really necessary. Then she reflected back on it again and she changed her assessment to "maybe just a little'.

I went over to Niddler's greenhouse where he was diligently working hard on getting his farm work done. I went over to where the greenhouse was started and added more of the invisible stone walls to the greenhouse. It was now at the point where it would be ready for the roofing. I figured that we could start the roof tomorrow morning. I realized that we were going to need to do something to prevent birds and such from flying headlong into it. I sent that thought to Niddler and he thanked me for the help and said that he would work on it.

I went down to the hangar and summoned up a set of unseen crafters to give the plane a good once over to make sure that it would be ready for a longer flight. They started their jobs and I went up to check in on the Kids with Savah, who had joined back up with me after I did the spell work. They were all working on their own projects today, as it was a scheduled day off. I thanked each one in person and they told us that they were glad that they could talk to each other and other people now. Savah chimed in that she was glad to finally hear all of them. They all individually called her mom as they thanked her. She melted when she heard that. I told them that I was glad that they were pursuing their own projects, and asked to be kept up with any problems that they might need corrected on my level or materials that they might need my assistance to get for their own projects. They all agreed and said that they would do so.

Savah spent more time with each of the kids, talking with them more while they worked. I excused myself to go to where my gear was, and I got my armor loaded up onto the plane. I pulled at the magnetic sheath for the chainsword and it popped off easily enough. I figured that I'd have to use both hands to really wield this outside of the armor, but it would be at least a deterrent when I was actually using it, as it certainly looked fear inducing to me. I grabbed the bolter from its mag-locked location with the same thoughts. I then went to the electrical lab and checked in on the sets of batteries being made and there was a decent pile now, and I hoped it would hold us until the end of this next mission.

I walked back to where Savah was waiting for me, with "her" pistol on her hip. She saw that I had my huge chainsword and my bolter both on my belt and sighed. I told her that I had no intention of using them unless I needed to, but if we did need to, I wanted to make sure that we were good. Savah sent me back to get them reattached to the armor, as they would do us no good in town. I did so and headed back to where she was. She handed a sword from one of our expeditions that we had passed through her for resale, and the pellet rifle I had given her. I was amused at having the original stuff that I had come to this place with. I put the sword's sheath on m belt and slung the air rifle over my back, and we walked around town.

While we were walking I quietly asked her if she was just trying to get rid of this sword. She professed offense at the very notion that she would ever use me as a mannequin, before quietly noting that she just couldn't sell that blade for some reason, and she was hoping that the free advertising of me carrying it around would help get it moved. I laughed quietly, and told her that it was fine, that I didn't actually mind, I was just amused at the thought. As we were walking, we made our way to Risa's Place. We decided to stop in and get some drinks. Risa approached us as we walked in and was glad to see us. She took one look at me and she declared that I had the aura of someone who was going to be dealing with those from another realm soon, and she wished me well.

Savah thanked her for that and said that we'd be back for lunch, but that we were taking a quick walk around the town first. Risa smiled and said that she would glad to have us. We took our drinks with Risa's blessing and walked on, making our way to the Cathedral. Father Zantus was there and he was talking with Silia. They both welcomed us in and told us that Silia was just explaining to Father Zantus that she was going to head back to Magnimar soon, but wanted to thank Father Zantus and the Town Council for being so welcoming to a foreign dignitary.

Savah said that the group would be heading back to Magnimar on either Moonday or Toilday morning, and that she'd get Silia the time and date to her before we left. Silia thanked her and Father Zantus asked if there was anything else that we needed. Savah noted that we would be heading into danger very shortly and told him that we'd need to update the council before the group left. Father Zantus indicated that the Council could be available on Moonday. I shrugged, and noted that I would pass this along to everyone in the group. Savah took lead on all of this, and even though I had eliminated the issue of Titus, I didn't need to throw my weight around any more than I had to.

We said our goodbyes and "have a good days" to the Father and the Ambassador, and headed out to keep on our leisurely walk through the town. We stopped in to talk with Garridan Viskalai at the White Deer. He greeted us warmly and asked if there was anything we would like. Savah asked him to just set aside a table for us tonight for dinner. Garridan said that he would definitely, and asked if we wanted anything special. Savah whispered something to him, and he nodded sagely, saying that he would make sure it was done. Savah told me that we could continue on, and led me along to The Way North.

I had not spent much time in this particular store, but was greatly amused to see that it was a cartographer. Savah greeted Veznutt Parooh by name, and asked how trade was going. Veznutt said his hellos, and told her that his fake treasure maps have still been selling just as good as always. Then Veznutt addressed me, saying that his friend Ilsoari was talking a lot about what I was doing with the school, and he didn't know quite what to think. I told him that I was more than happy to try to ensure that proper schooling on the subject of geography was a part of Ilsoari's Academy, if my portion of the school takes up some of his workload and that he was more than welcome to offer up suggestions to make it better.

Veznutt then thought about it and asked if me and my group were heading out anytime soon. Savah told him that we were heading out Moonday or Toilday, and that we would bring him back any maps that we find. I thought for a minute and asked him how well he could draw a map from a picture. Veznutt told me that he didn't know what I was talking about. I told him that I'd explain more when I got back. Savah told him that she'd make sure that I got back as soon as possible.

We made our way on and Savah made as if to walk into Rings and Things, but then veered off with a smiled on her face to continue on down Cliff Street until it turned into Main Street. We turned right on Tower Street and made our way to Brodert Quint's house. Brodert opened up the door when Savah knocked and welcomed us in for morning tea. We talked for a little while and about what our further plans were. I ended telling him how we were looking to find some place called Xin-Shalast. Brodert's eyes glazed over and he stopped responding for a minute. He shot up as quickly as he could and walked over to haphazard pile of scrolls and books (waiting to properly file). He started looking through the various documents before he produced a letter from the author of a book on Varisia and the Storval Plateau.

Cevil "Redwing" Charms' work, called "Eidolon", was one of Brodert's favorite works, and he would not let us keep the letter. Just as well, I asked if he'd be willing for me to take a picture of it, and he conceded when he learned that it doesn't cause the written work to disappear. I've saved it in the picture portion of my tablet and hope it linked below.

Xin-Shalast was definitely an evil type of place, so at least this tracked. The writer claimed that there was a pair of Dwarven explorers from Janderhoff with the last name of Vekker. I thanked him for this bit of information and figured that we would find more information about them from Janderhoff, if we didn't have any other clues besides the Kodar Mountains. I thanked him again for this piece of information, and I assured him that we would get him any information that we could on Ancient Thassilon, and if he wanted, I could even sponsor him into the Pathfinders to be able to study in the Ancient Library of Janderhoff with the crew that would be heading up there.

Brodert's head swooned and we caught him before he fell. Brodert asked if I was serious that we had found a Thassilonian library. Savah nodded and told him that it was part of our successful bid to join the Pathfinders, and that we could try to get him in, or at least on as a resource. Brodert asked for some time to think about it, and we told him to take as long as he needed. We wished him well, and Savah apologized, indicating that we had further people to visit today. Brodert thanked us for the visit and said that he'd be glad to hear our thoughts when we got back.

We left Brodert Quint's house and headed back from the Tower towards Main Street. We passed the Dwarven Locksmith. He was busy talking to Vachedi, but they both waved to us. We waved back and slowly headed on our way on to the next place that we needed to visit. After a minute of meandering, Vachedi ran up to us to tell us that he was ordering new locks for the jail cells. I nodded and asked if the deal had gone well. Vachedi nodded and said that it had gone well, but that wasn't why he had wanted to talk to us.

We waited for him to continue and Savah cleared her throat. Vachedi cursed under his breath in Shoanti and I replied back that coming up with words could be hard, but that he shouldn't be ashamed or angry. He looked back at me with a bit of confusion and spoke back in Shoanti that he had heard that we had some reservations against slavery when he was walking by the Town Mayor and the Ambassador lady talking about Andoran and us. Savah agreed with him and said that we really were not well disposed to the concept of slavery. Vachedi asked if we could help him with a small matter.

He told us that his sons were enslaved in Kaer Maga. I looked at him sternly and said that this was no small matter, and asked him why he had not brought this up earlier. He noted that we had not really been available to talk earlier and he had only received notice that they were about to be sold recently. And he had tried to save up to go pay for their bondage. Savah asked if we would be able to stop by Kaer Maga on the way to Janderhoff. I told her and him that we would damn well make time. I also told him to not worry about the cost for his sons. We would handle that as well, one way or another.

Vachedi asked when we would head out, and Savah told him to be ready on Moonday morning, that we would either be leaving on Moonday afternoon or Toilday morning. Vachedi said that he would be ready. I told him that if he wanted, he could spend from tonight until when we leave, at the school. He said that he'd consider that, and went to go talk to Belor. We wished him well, and he certainly seemed to be a bit happier. I was a bit upset that we didn't know this issue, and Savah noted that there was a lot that we could do to help the people of Sandpoint without going out for massive, world shaking quests. I agreed with her and said that I would work to shift the group's focus back to the town, but that we really did need to complete this specific quest. She didn't disagree and continued on our way.

We walked on and made our way to the Alma's and checked in on our favorite baker. Alma was glad to see us and presented us with cinnamon powdered doughnuts. Savah grabbed a pair for us and we thanked Alma. I thought for a minute and asked her for a sheet of paper. Alma immediately grabbed me the paper and I wrote down two separate recipe ideas for different confectionaries. Alma took the sheet and smiled at me. Savah asked me what they were for as we left. I told her it was a surprise.

We made our way to the Curious Goblin and Chask welcomed us in. He was glad to see us, we both told him good morning as well. Chask brought up the subject of the school, and I asked him if he had heard anything negative about it. Chask shrugged, noting that he thought that a lot of people were talking here and there about different aspects. I asked if he'd be willing to give an opening speech about the importance of the continuing strive to learn. Chask was taken aback at that but agreed to do so, on the condition that he would be allowed to listen in on the first class. I told him that I'd be glad to help him learn as much as I could.

We bid him good day and Savah dragged me on to the Turandarok Academy. Ilsoari was there, almost waiting for us to get there. As we walked in, we were mobbed by a bunch of kids. Ilsoari asked if I could favor them all with a story about the fantastical vehicle that we had been using. I looked to Savah and she smiled the most mischievous smile I had seen her smile in a while, and I sat down and started using a chalkboard and some chalk, which just happened to have been acquired recently, to draw out the plane and try to explain it.

After a few hours of answering questions, many of which went to them asking if they could ride in it, to which I said maybe later, Ilsoari thanked us for dropping by and escorted us out while the kids all went to get snacks. Ilsoari told me that he would have his selection of students ready in about three months. I told him that this would be perfect timing, and that he could arrange things more when we got back. I asked him to also ensure that the messages get delivered to each student as discussed. Ilsoari said that he would, and that he'd be keeping in touch with Toth and Leis. I thanked him again, and wished him luck with his riled up students.

Ilsoari said that he was going to be fine, that he was getting another assistant shortly. I raised an eyebrow and Ilsoari noted that there was apparently an interested person in Magnimar that Leis Nivlandis happened to know who would take appreciation to the position. I shrugged and looked to Savah, who shrugged as well. I told Ilsoari that I wished him well with this and noted that there would be a town council meeting on Moonday morning. Ilsoari nodded and said that he would be there.

We made our way down Main Street to Water street, deftly avoiding Ven and his General Store. I would be more than glad to offer up raising or even resurrecting his deceased daughter, but Savah had told me that it would be best to just wait a few more months before bringing that offer up. We made our way to a different Sandpoint native's establishment, the Hagfish. When we entered in, Jargie welcomed us in with great joy. I walked over to the pouch, and asked if anyone was brave enough to give the pouch a try, if someone paid for them. Jargie had an evil glint in his eye, and a few of the younger people in the crew took up the challenge. I dropped Jargie a gold to pay for the next ten or so people to give it a try.

There were no successful people. I offered up another three gold to cover drinks for those who failed the challenge, and Savah playfully slapped my arm. Jargie got drinks sent around to those who had failed, and asked if we would be staying for a meal. Savah sadly told him no, that we were having a nice dinner at the White Deer tonight, but that we would definitely come back tomorrow. Jargie smiled and wished us a good day and looked over the sad state of the clientele.

We left the Hagfish and went on down Water Street to the Sandpoint Fish Market. Turch Sterglus was there behind his counter, sullenly looking at the silver locket that he kept on his person. He looked up, put his locket away and stood up straight to ask us what we needed. Savah placed an order for the school's pantry, and our own, and went with Turch's sons to get everything arranged to be delivered for the next month. That left me and Turch to talk. I asked him what had him reflecting and he told me about how his wife had been refused a burial in the Sandpoint Boneyard decades ago and it looked like there was some kind of vandalism going on at the Pauper's Graves.

I asked him for some further details and he told me that the graves were sunken in. I immediately flagged this for investigation and told him that I'd get with Dame Rebekah and Chelger on this, and we'd see if we couldn't find out what the issue behind all of this was. Turch thanked me and said that he'd be glad to get this kind of vandalism stopped. I told him that it was important that we look out for those who came before us, because we would hope for the same for ourselves. Savah and the children all came back and the kids reported that the orders were scheduled and placed. I thanked them and noted that if hy liked, I'd put in a word for them all with Vaeren, to get some additional cold storage for this place. Turch said that he'd like that.

We left together and entered into the Market Square, where there were a bunch of kids playing tag. I gathered up a couple of weeds and detritus and changed them into hacky-sacks for the kids. They seemed happy to get the toys and scampered off to go play. Savah smiled and asked if there was anything else I was planning on bringing to the town. I thought for a minute and told her baseball. Savah raised an eyebrow and repeated the word. I nodded, and said it again. I added that every town who should have a little league team or two. Savah said that I'd have to explain it to her later. I nodded and we headed over to the Meat Market.

Chod was dealing with a patron, one of the farmers who had come in to make arrangements for the spring. After they were dealt with, he welcomed us in and asked what we'd need. Savah went through her list and Chod started writing down and scheduling everything that was needed. After a few minutes, Savah was satisfied and Chod was absentmindedly rubbing a missing finger's knuckle. I pantomimed to Savah and she motioned back that I should ask him. When I did so, he told me that he had lost the finger to the Chopper, and that the Chopper had taken it with him as a trophy. He added that it was his wedding ring that the Chopper had taken, and it was the last thing he had from his wife.

I asked him if it was ever found when the Chopper died. Chod said that no one had went looking, but that Chopper's Isle would be where he had expected it to be, he added that the Chopper had taken over that Isle to be his home, so it would make sense for him to hide his trophies there. I asked why no one had ever went to look. Chod told me that the people in Sandpoint were a might bit busy to just go gallivanting around on the rumors and speculation of a killer, especially when the killer was dead. Chod did add that he would be mighty glad to get the ring back if anyone ever found it.

We finished up our ordering and thanked him for his time, and for the explanation about the Chopper. Chod thanked us for the opportunity to let it out about his wife and the Chopper, that he doesn't get many people who would believe him. I told him that from what I knew of serial killers, they liked to take trophies of their victims or intended victims, so it tracked. Chod nodded at the odd turn of a phrase and we went on to visit Sir Jasper at the Mercantile League.

Jasper was there behind the counter, enjoying the decrease in brigand attacks. He welcomed us in and asked us if there was anything we might need. Savah gave him a message to send over to her agents in Magnimar so that she can get the materials for the future orders. Jasper took the messages and the coins she offered and told her that he'd have the message delivered on the next caravan. Savah thanked him and told him that we were glad that he was still providing this vital service.

Jasper asked us why we were sending a message when we had the bikes and the plane. Savah told him that the plane and the bikes would be in service here soon, so his service was still vital. I added that I was more than happy to work with him to get a telegraph set up for faster messaging service than even my plane can provide. Jasper's eyes lit up, and asked if that was really possible. I told him that with magic it would definitely be possible, but it might be possible technologically too. Before we left, I added that I'd talk with him more when I got back from my next trip. Sir Jasper nodded and said that he would look for me when I got back.

We left from there to head over to the Two Knight Brewery. Gaven Deverin was there waiting for a customer. We just happened to be the customer that he was waiting for. Savah placed an order for several different types, but Gaven noted that he couldn't guarantee the Cryptic Cider, as he was out now and that he had to wait until someone could deliver him some of the sap of the giant pitcher plants, and the sap only flowed in the spring at least. Savah said that she was certain that we could find some people who would be willing to go hunt for it. Gaven thanked us and said that he always paid well for the sap, and that he even offered up some of the cider as a bonus. Savah thanked him again and said that we would be back in touch.

We left the brewery and Savah led me up River Street to Wheen's Wagons, where he was now working on both wagons and on the bike frames that would be coated in the boron carbide cloth and then the resin mixture. He was busy working, but Savah dropped in to update him on some of the orders that she had arranged for the garage. Bilivar stopped what he was working on and took some notes down for the orders. They talked for a little while and then Savah came back with a bounce in her step. She noted that we would need a different vehicle in the near future. I told her that I'd design something up when I got back. Savah smiled and we headed on to Cog Street and then Prickleback Lane.

We were heading to Vernah's Fine Clothing. Rynshinn was stocking some of her most recent works and talked at length with Savah while I looked over how the style had changed since I had arrived. Pockets were now coming into vogue, although the fact that there was a much larger emphasis on coinage than on bills means that the back pockets are not quite as useful here. Savah came back after a few minutes and said that she was ready to head on. She noted that Rynshinn would like to talk to us when we got back, as she was going to try to get to the bottom of something and could use our assistance, but it wasn't anything of importance just yet.

We left from Vernah's and headed over to the Grocer's Hall. Olmur, the guildmaster, was there with a farmer, who was making some decisions about seeds and tools for the following year. The conversation was lively, as expected, and the farmer finally made his decisions and passed over a bag of gold. Savah and I nodded in the direction of the farmer who just hurried out. I swore that I recognized him from somewhere, but couldn't remember.

Savah went up and talked a bit of shop with Olmur, asking about the requirements of joining the guild to get supplies and what not, eventually she decided on getting Niddler a membership in the guild, as long as he can be represented by someone else if he desires. She placed the order for all of the seeds and tools that the greenhouses and fields would need and Olmur requested to get a look at the greenhouses if we got a chance for him Savah looked at me and I sent the query to Niddler, who came back with an empathic yes.

I relayed it and Olmur was pleased with this. We got a day and time set aside and when he found out that the majority of the greenhouses and farms would be strictly for providing the school, he said that he would let the farmers know that they were not going to be hemmed in on. Olmur was certainly a pleasant fellow. We walked up Festival Street past the Carpenter's Guild. A young carpenter apprentice came rushing out and asked if I could help with the machines. I shrugged and went in with them, and saw that the steam powered machines that I had gifted them with were probably built up with scale. I disassembled the machines and thoroughly cleaned out the built up calcium from the coils.

While I was doing that, Aesrick came up behind me and asked if I had any inclination about weaseling in on the Guild's business. I calmly, without even turning around or looking up, asked him if his guild dealt in stone, and if not, I had no inclinations. Aesrick muttered that his clan would not be dealing with stone. I continued by telling him that all of the woodworking that I had been having done, by the unseen craftsmen, was due to his guild being busy, and me not wanting to run afoul of the Scarnetti and Valdemar clans again, by taking priority over them with his business. I finished with saying that I'd love to have a contract with his guild to provide for all of the wooden furniture, as I was certain that they could make them better than what I was having kit-bashed together by the Unseen Craftsmen.

Aesrick nodded, noting that he would definitely consider that, but that he would want me to take care of something before he would agree to any such arrangement, as his honor had been slighted. I continued to work on cleaning the equipment and asked him if it needed to be done immediately, or if it could wait until after I got back from dealing with something in a few days. Aesrick muttered that it had been a long time waiting, and that a few more days wouldn't cause too much issue. I thanked him for his patience and put the tool back together. I started the saw up and it worked just fine. I told Aesrick that I would be back as soon as I could to get this all sorted out and he acknowledged it. We left there and it was about lunch time.

We stopped back by Risa's and had a light lunch, much to Risa'a approval. The three of us talked a bit about what we would be getting into in the future. I told her how I was certain that this would be the end of it, but Risa and Savah both were a bit more settled on the fact that problems never stop for this town. I told them both that I'd continue to solve whatever problems I could for the town, no matter what. That seemed to make the both of them happier.

Savah and I left the building and headed on. We turned to head towards Cracktooth's Tavern. Along the way, we saw Nisk heading back to his shop from Cracktooth's. He told us both good morning and we greeted him as well. Savah indicated that she had to talk to him about supplies, and asked me to head on over to Cracktooth's, that she'd catch up.

I shrugged and did what was asked. When I got there, Jesk greeted me with warmth and asked if I was going to be going to the theater tonight to see the abomination that was created about me. I told him that we had already seen the Scarnetti Production, and that Savah and I were having a nice dinner before I was supposed to head out again on Toilday. Jesk nodded and sad that it really was awful, but it was nice of us to try to get the audience to be nicer to the Magnimar actors and actresses. He asked if there was any way that he could convince us to be here on Moonday night. I shrugged and said that I'd check with Savah and the group. He thanked me and said that we shouldn't miss it.

By the time that Savah had gotten there, we were already deep into discussions about how either one of us would fix the play, and how even if I was making it scandalous about me, I wouldn't be so over the top. Savah came into the conversation and I asked her if we had any plans for Moonday night, as Jesk had personally invited us to be here. Savah thought about it and said that she had no objections, and said that we could definitely do that. She also indicated that we needed to get moving if we were going to get back to the Town Hall to ensure that everything was set up.

We said our goodbyes and headed over Bent Street to Main Street towards the Town Hall to talk to the Mayor. It was a fairly peaceful walk to the Town Hall, and not many people did more than just smile and wave at us, or tell us good afternoon as the stopped their individual conversations for just long enough to give us the passing greetings before going back to whatever they were discussing. We walked into the Town Hall and made our way to Mayor Deverin. We were expected for the most part, and since it was a weekend, there wasn't a lot of activity going on anyway.

Mayor Deverin was there, just settling up with some required issues before heading out for the day. We made our pitch and were fairly brief about it, just letting her know what was going down, and why it might need a meeting with the Town Council. We informed her that Father Zantus and Ilsoari have already been informed of the need for a meeting, and that we'd be willing to go tell everyone else that was needed. Mayor Deverin told us that she could handle getting the last two members needed for a five-person council, which would be best, because the other two had both had issues with me in particular in the past. I nodded at that, and asked if there was anything that needed to be done immediately.

I thought about it, and noted that currently nothing needed to be changed, for now everything was fine to continue as it is. I added that I wouldn't be forcing the town to change in any way, only that I'd be making some recommendations. Mayor Deverin offered up that it was good that we were asking for a Town Council meeting, as she was going to want to discuss some things with us about this school and what she had learned from Silia, and what might be coming to Sandpoint in its future. I raised an eyebrow at that, but she noted that it was best discussed with the other Town Council members present.

Savah pulled me out of the meeting, offering up a good day and we walked out of the Town Hall. I was about to ask Savah where we were heading next, when we got a call over the radios. It was Dame Rebekah, asking if we could postpone the ritual until tomorrow, either the morning or the evening, as something had come up at the last minute at the hostel. Savah immediately answered back that she'd be okay with it and talk to Faunra to clear it up with her. Savah grabbed my arm and said that it was time to head to the White Deer again.

We walked the way up to the White Deer and Viskalai was waiting for us. He greeted us in Shoanti and escorted us to a seat. There was a special table set up for us with an assortment of different foods already on it. There were roasted lizards, miscellaneous pies and loaves, and other items of unknown province. There was a cinnamon scented drink that greeted the both of us. We sat down at the table and Viskalai bid us all well and we started our little feast.

We ate together and had a nice peaceful meal, away from the tumult of a school in the building or a store that needs updating, or even a group of "adventurers" gearing up for an assault on a mad mage from millennia ago come back. Just two people, sitting together, enjoying a decent meal at a tavern where magic is real, and some of the "laws" of science are just basic suggestions or made to sit in the corner and cry. You know, whichever is the preferred result at the moment. Maybe someday I'll make a list of all of the rules that are just not so steadfast. Square Cube is straight up there at the top.

After our meal, Savah and I thanked Viskalai and headed out. We opted to walk up the stairs in the North Wall, being let in by Tokage's, with not much more than a nod and a wink. Naru was talking to Father Zantus about something esoteric, while Fumi opened up the gate for us. We made our way up the stairs that had only since we had gotten her, had been installed, and started walking down the Tick wall. Apparently it had been a fierce debate between the Turandarok Bulwark, the Tick Wall, and the Giant's Rampart. Simplicity had apparently won out.

We walked and alternately looked out over the town of Sandpoint, quickly becoming something of a draw to Magnimar and possibly locals further. We were building this town up to be something big that can work to change this place. I don't know if it is for the better, but I do know that we are doing or best to make sure we don't make it worse. We talked a bit about how the school would end up changing things, and how even if every student from far away left to go far away, there would still be enough from Magnimar and even Sandpoint itself to keep bringing forth the ideas and thoughts that I was focusing on.

We talked about what we might do after this is all dealt with. I agreed that I needed a vacation. This little one-day excursion had shown me that I have been running on adrenaline since I had gotten to Sandpoint. Honestly, even before that. Even before I came to this place, I had been running so ragged with everything that I don't know how much longer I would have lasted. Savah must have sensed my rumination and change the subject fluidly enough that I didn't even notice at the time.

We made our way across the Turandarok River part of the wall, and down to the gate that had been hastily made. We got down from the wall and walked the rest of the way back to the house. We made our way past Bailey's house where the steel doggo was waiting for us. The doggo followed us back to the house and we made our way in to end our day. This was a good one, and I hope it was good for the others.
