Angel: Apparently there's a new Sonic show coming out this year that I didn't even know about until yesterday morning! I don't know what's gonna happen in general, but I'm intrigued. And if you've heard about this upcoming show, Sonic Prime, then you'll know that Silver, Blaze, Marine, and also Sally, Bunnie, and Rotor are apparently all in it, looking forward to seeing that, but some voice actors, such as Sonic's, Amy's, and Tails' are supposedly not voicing them, so I'm not sure if that'll detract from the show or not. I don't know if it's just for that show or if it's for a while? Who knows. It's coming on Netflix, so I'll be watching out for it.
Also, I went through some family drama last week, so that's why I didn't upload, I didn't feel like it. Soo yeah...
A ship flew over to a tower-like building. A machine powered up and fired at the ground, making a hole. The claw extended itself to go into the hole, going deeper until a red laser seemed to touch an oil lake, marking it as found.
"Excellent, Snively," Robotnik spoke up sinisterly. "It appears that the probes have found another oil lake." He was talking to Snively from a screen, the lackey looking at him.
"It appears that way, Sir," He nodded in agreement, a robot right next to him.
"What are the holding tank oil levels?" Robotnik asked him in a serious tone. Snively pressed a button, the robot walking off while he checked.
"36 percent capacity, sir. By tonight, we should reach 50 percent," He answered after a few seconds.
"Oh, I assure you, Snively. You will do better than 50 percent; much better," His boss warned him.
"But, sir, we've been running at maximum power for 10 days..."
"We will go on 10 days if necessary. Understood?" Robotnik sneered at him, and the look on his face suggested that he wasn't to be argued with over this conversation.
"Understood, sir."
"There is a world of oil down there, Snively...and I shall have it all."
Another probe went into the ground to search for more oil. While digging, there seemed to be a creature nearby, and it woke up, snarling. The creature got up and left its throne, going over to a structure. The probe slithered around the throne, firing at something. The laser blew something up to cause a bunch of rocks to appear, and causing the water level to rise. And it went all the way to the surface, essentially damaging the flora as it seeped into a lake, going all the way down.
Meanwhile, in the Great Forest, Sally inspected a dead tree, and it looked like the amount of time was in mere hours for it to occur.
"I just don't understand it, Rotor," Sally held up the root. "I calculated the exact proportions of water to sun ratio and energized the soil, but these trees don't respond," She gestured to other dead trees that Rotor had marked.
"Yeah. They look pretty sick all right," Rotor walked up to them. "In fact, a lot of the trees around here aren't looking so hot," He looked up at another giant tree, and its leaves were dying. Sally glanced behind her as Tails and Antoine walked over to them.
"Antoine, how are the other trees doing?"
Antoine wiped sweat off his forehead. "Oh, not so too very good, my princess." He pinched his nose as Tails dumped fertilizer on the trees. Just then, Sophia flew in from above, her wings disappearing once her feet touched the ground between Rotor and Sally.
"Same thing from above, they're all dying. The whole forest is getting affected!" She gestured to her left.
"How come the trees are dying, Aunt Sally?" Tails asked her.
"Well," She sighed a bit as she glanced at the root next to her. "I think Robotnik's pollution is spreading farther and farther from the city, honey."
"Well, I am thinking that maybe they die from this horrible fraternizer. Phew!" Antoine remarked in disgust, earning a laugh from Tails.
"Not fraternizer, Antoine. Fertilizer."
"If anything, he's not lying about the stench," Sophia waved a hand, also a little disgusted. "You use these on your trees? Ew."
"What do you use instead of fertilizer?" Rotor wondered to the alien princess.
"Well-"
A crash interrupted her from the sky and they looked up.
"What is this?" Antoine asked as it sounded like thunder.
"Looks like a storm is coming. Maybe some rain will bring these trees back to life," She looked up as there were storm clouds forming, along with thunder.
"I'll go find Sonic, he's still fishing, and I don't think we need to find him in bad shape," Sophia walked off.
Sonic himself was fishing at the bridge, looking down at his fishing line.
"Just put the pedal to the medal and baby I guarantee..." He was playing his guitar while singing, since...well, he would get impatient if not for that. "You'll be juicing to the tenth degree." He spun around while rocking out. "Crank it supersonic. It don't take any fuel, cuz the rocket's in my pocket and I'm wa-a-a-a-a-a-ay past cool!"
Sophia walked up to one end of the bridge, rolling her eyes in amusement.
"Thank you, thank you. Thank you, Thank you," He bowed to literally no one.
"If you're done, Sonic, we've got a problem. And we've gotta figure it out now before it's too late for the forest. Come on, I'll fill you in," She waved him forward before a large fish made itself known to them. Sophia raised a brow at it, Sonic jumping down from his spot. He rushed over to his fishing pole and it got caught on the hook.
"Whoa! Hang on, fish sticks, cuz we are gonna rock n' reel! Soph, help me out, would ya?" She ran up to him and grabbed his shoulders from behind, both of them pulling backwards with all of their might. Both of them were suddenly thrusted forward because the fish was swimming away from them. They landed in the water before practically water-skiing down the river. Sophia looked down at the green water forming, confused. They went down the rapids, soaring over some rocks.
"Whoa!" The two landed in the water before re-emerging. Sophia opened up her wings and flew upwards, but that just made it worse as the fish was still giving it its all. "This is one tough tuna!" Eventually, the wind was too much for Sophia and they both fell, landing back in the water and going back to water-skiing. The fish jumped over a large log and they yelped as Sonic let go of his fishing pole. The both of them went over the log safely, landing in the water. They both emerged safely, Sonic spitting out water and coughing. "Rather have a chili dog anyway." He smacked the water in a bit of frustration.
"Remind me to never try fishing any time soon..." Sophia spit out some water like a fountain, annoyed.
After getting out from the water, Sonic and Sophia were telling the story to a wide-eyed Tails as well as the rest of the group in the field that remained of the dying trees. "And I'll tell ya, that fish stick was so big, he pulled us right off the bridge and we water-skied behind him for 10 miles. Then he stole my pole!"
"Bummer. I was ready for some fish sticks," Rotor frowned, rubbing his belly.
"I bet he was big as a tree, huh Sonic? Bet it was even big as a house, huh?" Tails said excitedly.
"You got it, big guy," Sonic chuckled, patting him on the head. Sophia wrung out her wet hair.
"Well if I ever see him again, he's definitely gonna get a big hello from me..." She muttered in annoyance.
"Pardonnez-moi, Sonic, but are you thinking we were born tomorrow, hmm?" Antoine asked in disdain, not believing this story one bit. He thought that Sonic was just making it up as an opportunity to impress Sally.
"It's all true, Ant. A hedgehog never lies," Sonic insisted, holding up his hand. "Soph! You're vouching for me on this, right? You were there too!"
"Hm? Well, I guess?" She asked cluelessly, unsure as to whether or not it was even her business to intervene here, since...Antoine could be stubborn sometimes, and sometimes didn't like Sonic having the spotlight.
"See? An alien princess never lies either," The hedgehog gestured to her and she lightly pushed him away. Sonic slapped his ear to get water out of them, and a drop landed on a dead flower...suddenly growing it back to life. Sophia gasped, Sally opening her mouth in shock.
"Whoa! What's up with the old flower?" Sonic blinked in awe.
"Ah! Fantastique!" Antoine murmured in disbelief that a single drop could revive the whole flower.
"Oh my gosh! Sonic, what did you do?" Sally lightly touched the petals to make sure that the flower was real.
"I dunno. I just knocked water out of my ear," He did it again, but this time with his left ear. "Like this." it landed on one of the dead trees, but nothing happened to it. They all bent down to see if something would happen, but nothing did. "Guess it wasn't the water."
Suddenly they were all knocked out of the way as the tree grew back to life and they gasped, looking up as the leaves grew, and it looked like the tree was never dead at all.
"Wow! Cool, Sonic!" Tails exclaimed in awe. Antoine gasped as he walked up to the trees.
"I do not believing my ears..." He pointed to his ears and Sophia shook her head.
"Eyes, Antoine. Eyes."
"Sonic, where did this water come from?" Sally asked the blue hedgehog.
"The Great River, near our bridge," He pointed down to the path that would lead them there. Sophia gasped, turning to him.
"Hey, yeah! I saw that something was off with the water while we were water-skiing with the fish. Maybe that water's got something in it to revive all dead plants!" She pointed out.
"Then we have to get more of it," Sally said in determination.
"Very cool boat," Sonic commented as they went down the Great River in a motor boat that belonged to Rotor, along with Sally and Antoine.
"Gosh, no big deal," The walrus dismissed it.
"He's not wrong, it's a marvel!" Sophia looked down at the motor, Sonic pulling her up so that she didn't fall over.
"Come on, man, she's right; you're totally hot with the ol' hammer," He agreed with the alien princess, his hands behind his back.
"Yeah, but who cares about some nerdy handyman?" Rotor lightly shrugged at the two, Sophia sitting next to Sonic. "I'd rather be superheroes like you guys. Now that's cool."
"Rotor, that's sweet, but you know, we wouldn't be fighting against Robotnik if it wasn't for you," The pink-haired princess gestured to him.
"Can't argue that. When you're right, you're right. But it's still a cool boat," Sonic emphasized to his friend. Antoine gasped sharply as he and Sally were sitting up front together. He looked behind him, pointing up ahead.
"Rotor! Look out for the big log!" They did bump into the log, but all it did was make the boat shake, and definitely not to the point where they'd fall over. Needless to say, Antoine didn't like it one bit.
"Just chill and enjoy the scenery, Ant," Sonic called out from the back. Antoine nervously looked over the boat into the water, trying to keep calm.
"Oui, oui. I am chilling," He nervously said, taking a deep breath.
"Look guys," Sally saw something and pointed to her right. On their right were more dead trees, like the ones they saw in the Great Forest. To Sophia, some of them looked kind of creepy because they were either snapped in half or just not full of life. "Those trees are dying, just like the ones in Knothole. Somehow, we have to figure out a way to revive them before the whole forest dies."
"Maybe that weird, green water will do it," Sonic reminded her as they were going a little faster than normal. Sophia glanced around and realized this, as this was the speed she normally went at when she wanted to fly around the forest.
"Rotor, why are we going too fast?" Antoine wondered as the boat rocked a little.
"Yeah, the current is picking up speed," Rotor said a little nervously, Sally glancing back at him.
"Can't you slow down, Rotor?"
"I can try," He glanced at his motor, Sophia gasping a little as she gripped the boat.
"Man, we're really startin' to juice!" Sonic glanced around as the area was getting closer to rapid territory. "Hey! What's up?" The water was getting harder and harder to steer for the boat, and it felt just like when Sonic and Sophia were water-skiing.
"I am not liking this too much, Rotor!" Antoine cried out while holding onto the boat, water splashing into his face. They all screamed as they went through a whirlpool, unable to stop themselves or turn back. After getting through the whirlpool, they fell onto the water again, going through a cave that they didn't recognize. They landed in the darker area of the cave, the boat going in further.
"My gosh! Where are we?" Sally wondered as they scoped the area.
"That's what I'd like to know," Rotor spoke up.
"Looks like some kind of underground lake," Sonic said as they went past various ruins of structures. "Definitely a dump!" He frowned at some of the algae-covered stuff in the water.
"Can't you fly us out of here, Soph?" Rotor asked the alien, who shook her head.
"Even if I could, wings and water don't mix when you're trying to escape a whirlpool," She pointed out.
"Which means Robotnik can't be far," Sally said in disdain to herself as she saw the junk around them. Antoine yelped in alarm and then covered his eyes with his hands.
"Get a grip, Ant," Sonic stated while using an oar to steer them around. Antoine panted, gripping the wood in front of him.
"Oui, oui. A grip..." He murmured, though still kind of terrified.
"Crank up the motor, Rote," Sonic glanced at him, earning a salute.
"Check."
Sally brought out Nicole and activated her. "Nicole, check map file for subterranean."
"Checking, Sally..." They waited for an answer as Sonic steered to the left past some more junk. "No subterranean file exists."
Sally sighed at this answer in dismay. "Looks like we're on our own, guys."
"In more ways than one," Rotor glanced at the back of the boat, Sophia opened her mouth to see that something was missing. "We lost the motor." The motor was completely gone from the boat somehow.
"Lost the m-m-motor? Then how will we getting out of this terrible place?" Antoine stammered, now getting a little more scared. Not only was it dark, they had no way to turn back at all without the motor. Sonic and Rotor both steered the boat, Antoine using an oar from behind with Sophia.
"Turn up ahead, you guys," Sally told them.
"Palace guards are not meant for the rowing of the boat, my princess," Antoine stated in annoyance.
"Well then, I guess we'll just have to stay here for the rest of our lives..." Sophia started off with a small shrug. Antoine shook, whimpering a bit as he continued steering with Sophia at the thought of actually staying. As they got further and further, more junk started appearing.
"Eww! Check out this junkberg!" Sonic said in disgust at a large engine of sorts. Sonic and Rotor used their sticks to push it away, but the thing was too big for the both of them and it wouldn't budge. "Yo, Ant! Angle to the right!" Sonic called out, but nothing happened as Sophia tried doing it herself, but it was a two-person job. The two lost their grip, and the thing smacked against the boat a bit. "Ant!" The engine floated away from them.
"Nice move, Ant and Soph," Sonic turned around, and was floored to see only Sophia there. She looked to her right and gasped sharply as Antoine was no longer sitting next to her. "Ant?"
"Antoine?" Sally walked over to the other side. "Antoine?!" She looked down at the water, glancing at Sophia. "Did you see where he went?"
"No! I didn't see anything. He was right here a minute ago," Sophia explained in disbelief, wondering how could he have disappeared when she was right next to him and not notice what happened...a piece of junk went past them as they continued searching, but there was no sign of Antoine anywhere.
"Antoine!" Sally cried out.
"I just don't get it," Rotor stated as he poured water out of his hat. Sonic and Soph were both rowing the boat. "One minute he's here, and then he's gone."
"We'll find him, Rote," Sonic attempted to assure him.
"I sure hope so," Sally agreed as she got water out of her boot.
"Wherever he is, I just hope he's safe..." Sophia murmured as she wrung out her wet hair. Sonic lifted up his oar, looking at the water as it looked...very weird, it wasn't blue, and it wasn't supposed to stick to the oar like it was now.
"Man, this is some major mong."
"Oh, now what?" Rotor complained as they looked up ahead...and their hearts dropped majorly as they realized what they were heading towards.
"Waterfall!" They all shouted in unison. Once the boat reached it, it was very close to falling off, Sonic hanging onto one end.
"Hang on! I'll give us a little juice!" He yelled as he held the boat back from falling. "Soph, grab the other end so you can pull them back!" She nodded and her wings appeared, the girl flying behind the boat and taking hold.
"Come on, guys, you can do it!" Sally shouted over the sound of the water. Sonic gritted his teeth as he revved up his feet. Sophia grunted as she pulled upwards towards the start of the waterfall, getting some progress, but not enough.
"That's it, guys!"
The two both tried harder, and it worked as they were moving a little more faster upwards.
"Push, Sonic, Soph!" The two made it to the top and pushed the boat backwards, much to their relief.
"That was close. Great job, you guys," Rotor sighed in relief as they took their friends in another direction so that they wouldn't head for the waterfall. Once they came to a stop, the two got back into the boat, Sonic panting a little.
"Sonic, you are a very, very brave hedgehog," Sally kissed his cheek gratefully. "Thank you. And thank you too, Soph."
"No problem," She stated out of breath, waving a hand.
"Any time, Sal," Sonic smiled up at Sally.
"Guys, check out the water," Rotor peeked over the boat and they noticed that the water was somehow turning pink.
"Wha? It's boiling!" Sally exclaimed as soon as bubbles appeared from the water. The boat also started to shake, starting to sink the boat! Sally looked down at the water in a small panic. "There's nowhere to go!"
"Yeah there is!" Sonic jumped up and grabbed a vine that was hanging from the ceiling. "Grab on, guys! Soph, fly 'em up!"
She took both of their hands and flew upwards just as the boat sank into the water. Sophia gave Sally to Sonic and Rotor hung onto her as the two moved upwards, Sonic climbing forward.
They eventually made it out and emerged into a grassy area, still searching for their friend. "Antoine!" Sally called for him.
"Ant! Where are you, man?" Sonic shouted and Sophia's ear twitched. She flinched as she glanced behind her, knowing very well something was off. And it seemed that Rotor felt the same way too.
"Hey, guys. You get the feeling we're being watched?" He asked the duo.
"By whom? The plants?" Sonic shrugged cluelessly.
"I heard something, I'm just not sure what," Sophia pointed out.
"Maybe you heard wrong?" Sally suggested to her and she frowned a bit, since that could be a possibility, but her super hearing never steered her wrong.
"I dunno. I just feel something watchin' us," Rotor added in as they walked past some flowers.
"You're just paranoid, you two," Sally dismissed it and walked up to a large yellow flower. "Oh! Look at this beautiful flower." It opened up to reveal itself as a Venus flytrap and she shrieked as she stepped backwards in alarm. Sonic sped over to the chipmunk, standing in front of her.
"Man! What is that flower? A snapdragon?" He asked and ducked from the attacking flower, not noticing the other one behind him.
"Sonic! Behind you!" Sally called out and he dodged the second one.
"All right, that's it! Now you're making me mad!" He clenched his fists and spun around, tying up the flowers together. He looked up as they were all in one knot. "That's what you get for being rude!"
Rotor looked around in alarm as Sally was now missing as well, just like how Antoine disappeared. "Sonic! Soph! Sally's gone!"
"What?" Sophia asked in alarm.
"Gone?!" Sonic ran past him and looked at the field, no sign of Sally anywhere.
"She was right here next to me, and then she disappeared!" Rotor exclaimed as they searched for her.
"Sally! Sally!"
The trio walked past some creepy trees, still looking for their friend. "Sally!" Rotor shouted, but they didn't hear her. "Sally!"
They suddenly stopped as they came across something. "Man, this looks like some kind of palace," Sonic looked around as they were back in the cave, but were looking at the throne in the middle of it all, with some junk here and there.
"Yeah, but what's with this smell? Just like Robotropolis," Rotor commented and Sophia raised a brow. She sniffed the air and then recoiled back in disgust, shaking her head rapidly.
"Doesn't anybody take out the trash around here? Eww!" Sonic said in disgust as they walked past the throne.
"Wow. Look at this," They looked up at the giant chair.
"I wonder who this belongs to..." Sophia murmured and then they heard a sound, looking back at some junk up ahead.
"Wait here, guys. I'll scope it out," Sonic went over to the source of the noise, walking through a tunnel. He came across some structures, slowly stepping in as he scoped the area with his eyes. "Ant? Sally? You guys in here?" Something approached him from behind, however...
Rotor picked up Sonic's fishing pole from earlier and Sophia gasped as she recognized it.
"Hmm...Sonic's fishing pole," He murmured and she rubbed her chin.
"But how on Earth did it end up in a place we've never been in before?" She wondered and before they could even try to explain, they suddenly heard Sonic letting out a scream.
"Sonic?!"
"It came from that same spot!" Sophia pointed to where Sonic ran off and they rushed over. They flinched in surprise to see a large monster coming into view holding Sonic.
"Bail, guys! Warp ten!" Sonic shouted at them and they tried to run, but Rotor tripped on a rock and fell, accidentally pushing Sophia to the ground along with him. The duo glanced back in fear, backing away and falling through a hole.
"Rote! Soph!" The hedgehog yelled in worry, turning back to the monster. "Lemme go, man! My main walrus and alien princess need help!" The creature roared at him and he gave a concerned look for his friends. He tried to break himself free, to no avail.
"Look what you have done to my world, surface creature!" The monster growled out at him.
"Pal, I know you're havin' a bad hair day, but I don't have a clue what you're talking about!" Sonic protested back at him.
"I will show you what I am talking about," He walked right past the hole, Rotor and Sophia rolling down a small pathway to the river, which was completely green. The two landed in it and emerged, seeing themselves in a grass field-like area. Rotor looked at the water falling down from his hands.
"What is this stuff?" He lightly touched it as Sophia shivered a little. "Wait a sec...it's that same green water. No wonder this place is so green."
"That must've been the water that was in Sonic's ears, and how it grew those plants! This water must've seeped into our own!" Sophia gestured to it. Suddenly the place started shaking and Rotor gasped as he glanced behind him to see rocks falling from the tunnel. They went over to the rocks, peeking over them to see another path that led to somewhere.
"Soph, a little help?" Rotor wondered and Sophia used her laser eyes to get rid of the rocks. Once she did, the water flowed into the tunnel. The walrus grabbed a canteen to get some of the green water, capping it off and walking off with the alien princess. Some of the vines started shaking, and they turned out to be roots as the trees and grass above grow.
Meanwhile, Sonic, Sally, and Antoine were neck-deep into water, unable to get out. "This is terrible. Terrible! I have my whole life behind me!" Antoine lamented at their situation, turning to Sonic angrily. "This is all your fault, Sonic the hog-hedge."
"Hedgehog, Ant. Hedge. Hog," Sonic corrected him just as angrily.
"Now, why is it Sonic's fault, Antoine?" Sally wondered to her friend.
"Because...he is the hero, but he cannot get us out of this terrible place!" Antoine exclaimed, since Sonic had super speed but couldn't get out to help them.
"Yeah, because this pollution pit zapped all my juice!" Sonic explained while trying to break free and failing.
"Rotor! Soph!" Sally cried out for them and a one-eyed crocodile emerged from the water, frightening Antoine. "Sonic! The level's rising! Try again for the power ring!"
Rotor and Sophia walked over to an area where there were columns somehow in the water. He bent down to the water and took a drop on his finger, sniffing it. He narrowed his eyes as he recognized it.
"Oil."
"Look!" Sophia pointed to a reflection in the water. He gasped as he looked up, seeing some flashing lights in the ceiling.
"Robotnik!"
Another crash occurred and they ducked their heads to avoid the falling rocks. Rotor gasped sharply as he saw the robotic snake from earlier.
"Whoa! What is that?"
"The sign that we should move!" Sophia grabbed his hand and ran off as a laser was fired. They ran into a tunnel, coming to a stop to catch their breath.
"Help! Someone help!" Sally cried out and they could hear their voices.
"Help me!" Antoine shouted and then Sonic coughed.
"Help!"
"Sonic!" Rotor called out and Sophia gestured him forward.
"It's coming from this way!" She guided them to their trapped friends in the water.
"Hurry, Rote! Get the power ring!" Sonic struggled to say.
"Yes, yes! Please to hurry!" Antoine urged him and he turned to Sophia.
"Soph, give me a power ring."
"Sorry, Rote, no dice," She showed her wrists to reveal that she suddenly didn't have her power rings on her.
"Huh?! I'm comin' guys! Hang on!" He grabbed a plank and then put it on top of a statue. He started to crawl across it when a tentacle grabbed his leg and he gasped in alarm. He screamed as he started to get pulled down. Sophia bent down to him and pulled as hard as she could to help him.
"Fight it, Rote! Fight it!" Sonic encouraged while Sophia pulled harder.
"He's...too strong!" She grunted out, Rotor grabbing onto a rock and struggling to hold on in general.
"Rotor! Hold on!" Sally turned to him and Sophia used her laser eyes to get his leg free, which worked until the tentacle grabbed Rotor again. He kicked it away while Sophia used her laser eyes twice. She pulled the walrus up once the tentacle was completely gone.
"Way to go, you guys!" Sonic cheered them on.
"Hurry! The slime is rising!" Antoine called out and Rotor went to Sonic, pulling. Sophia grabbed his shoulders and flew with her wings upwards. Sonic managed to get out the power ring and smiled.
"Go, Sonic!"
Sonic rose into the air, spinning around with it. "Alright!"
"Sonic!" Sally cried out before Sonic grabbed her, Rotor and Sophia helping out Antoine before he drowned.
"Gotcha, Antoine!"
All of them took a moment to catch their breaths, Sonic turning to the walrus. "Thanks, Rote. You're a hero, man. And you too, Soph."
Sally kissed Rotor on the cheek and then gave Sophia a grateful hug. "Big heroes."
"Oui. As one big hero to another, I salute you, Rotor and Sophia," Antoine saluted to them and Sophia glanced away.
"Gee...thanks, Antoine."
"Aw, it's no big deal..." Rotor also dismissed all the praise and then rocks fell down from the ceiling, causing Antoine to scream. "We gotta jam! It's the Snake Probes!" The walrus warned all of them.
"Snake Probes?" Sally turned to the duo in confusion.
"They tried to attack us earlier before we found you," Sophia explained to her.
"They're laser-powered diggers. Robotnik is using them to drill for oil," Rotor added in.
"Aw, great. We should have known Robotnik was behind this!" Sally said in disdain once she heard this. Antoine screamed again as rocks fell once more.
"Let's juice!" Sonic clenched his fists and they all made a break for it. Sonic turned the corner and he gasped, coming to a stop once he saw what was up ahead.
"Sonic, what..." The others came to a stop once they caught up to him. "Oh my gosh!" Right in front of them was the creature that Sonic had met beforehand, and he did not seem like he was gonna let them go free...
"There is no escape, surface dwellers. You will die from this pollution, as all my people have," He told them simply.
"You keep talkin', big guy, and I'll just keep on wonderin' what you're saying," Sonic remarked, still confused.
"Sonic, it seems as if there's actual meaning behind what he's saying," Sophia gestured to him.
"Correct. I was once king of a beautiful world, but everything was destroyed by you surface creatures. And I..." He took a moment to let out a few coughs. "Am the only one left."
"This is not our pollution," Sonic denied immediately.
"There's another surface creature. His name is Robotnik," Sally informed the creature. "He's polluted our world as well as yours."
"I understand where you're coming from, but when Robotnik kidnapped my family and myself, I didn't blame my friends," Sophia gestured to herself. "Trust me when I say that this is not their doing, they would never intentionally destroy your home."
The rocks came falling down again, and then the Snake Probes made themselves known to everyone. They wrapped themselves up around the large creature, who attempted to fight back and failed. Another one appeared near the group, and they yelped in alarm.
"I am making a tasty retreat!" Antoine shook in fear, turning around to leave when Sonic stopped him.
"Hold it, Ant! We've gotta help the big guy!" Sonic looked up at the creature; he may have accused them of pollution, but he'd never leave someone in need otherwise.
One of the Snake Probes attacked them and they all jumped backwards from it. "Rote, Soph, where are these things coming from?"
"The surface. Robotnik's drilling platform," Rotor answered him.
"I'm goin' up!" Sonic pointed upwards, Sophia placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Not without a guide, you're not. Besides, you'd think I'd miss out on a good ol' Robotnik stomping?"
He smiled and when a Snake Probe lunged forward towards them, they simply ran right past them to reach Robotnik.
They jumped out a hole and looked up at a large building that was for Robotnik. "Man, this is major!" He exclaimed and they ran forward. A ship flew out of one entrance, and it was Robotnik and Snively.
"Isn't it lovely, Snively?" Robotnik sighed in delight.
"A sight to behold, sir," Snively agreed with a smile. Two little figures appeared on a screen, climbing up something.
"Snively, shoo those flies off the screen."
"I'm-I'm afraid those aren't flies, sir. It's...the hedgehog and Princess Sophia," Snively corrected nervously.
"Gah! Sound Code Red!" He slammed down a fist. An alarm blared as the two landed on a platform, a door opening behind them. They turned around to see Swat-bots heading right for them. The two sped away, skidding to a stop as they saw more Swat-bots arriving from the entrance in front of them. Sonic quickly glanced to the opposite sides and Sophia opened her wings. Sonic sped up a wall, Sophia following him on flight.
"Activate all snake probes!" Robotnik ordered a Swat-bot who was in a control room.
"Activating all snake probes, sir," The Swat-bot answered, about to press a red button when Sonic and Sophia suddenly appeared in the room. The hedgehog landed on the robot's lap.
"Quick question; can this chair go in reverse?" He pressed a button, jumping off as the chair was sent flying backwards. "Whoa! Yep." He then looked down at the controls. "Snake probes...emergency destruct. Yeah! My kinda button." He pressed the red one and Sophia smiled in amusement.
"It's always the red one..."
The snake probes got out of the holes, being electrocuted before they disappeared completely.
"No, no, no; this can't be happening. No, no, no, NO!" Robotnik slammed down his fists repeatedly in anger.
"Past cool, hedgehog," Sonic flipped away and landed on the ground, high-fiving Sophia. "Past cool. Now, I wonder what'll happen if we punch all these buttons. Only one way to find out..."
"Yes...I wanna touch all of them!" Sophia exclaimed in excitement, rubbing her hands together. They jumped onto the controls, playing them like a piano.
"Yo put the pedal to the metal and baby I guarantee..." Sophia laughed at him, bopping her head to the melody. "You'll be juicin' to the tenth degree. Crank it supersonic. It don't take any fuel, cuz the rocket's in my pocket and I'm waaaaaaaay past cool!" The system started to overload, and they ran off as an alarm sounded. "Uh oh. I'm outta here."
The whole place collapsed and they escaped before the place could cave in on them. They met back with the creature, Rotor holding up a bottle.
"Well, here goes..." He dumped the green water in and it engulfed the entire river, turning it blue.
"Oh, it's beautiful," Sally lightly touched it.
"Yeah. Too bad there's not enough for the Great Forest," Sonic shook his head.
"Take this, Sonic," the creature handed him a small pouch. "Maybe it will help."
"Thanks, big guy," The hedgehog took it from him. "And, uh, lemme know if you ever wanna go fishing. Maybe I'll take Soph with me."
"No thank you!" She recoiled back a bit and they all laughed.
After they left, they stood in the middle of the dying trees. Sally poured a bottle that was from the pouch. "Okay. Keep your fingers crossed, guys." She stood up and stepped back. They watched as two leaves moved, and then all the roots started rising to their delight.
"Alright! Cool! Sonic!" Tails cheered as they all pumped their fists.
"Well, it's a start," Sally smiled at Sonic.
"Yep," He walked up to the walrus, who was staring at the ground. "How's it feel to be a hero, Rote?"
He groaned at the reminder, placing an ice pack on his head. "Exhausting. From now on, I'm happy to be a handyman." The others laughed a bit at his reaction.
