Angel: Okay, so because this is the pilot episode, and episode 13 in most sources, I'm treating it as Sophia seeing the events of the episode since she didn't meet the Freedom Fighters until the actual first episode that aired. So not really much change in this one, and I would've skipped it, but I tend to not skip episodes, not even ones I hate, for completion reasons (except for TMNT 2003, the last episode in my belief is the wedding episode, and I hated the editing of the episode with...with the dinosaurs. Mayhem from Mutant Island wasn't even a real episode, so I don't count that, and I didn't want to waste my time writing up a bunch of shorts edited together that they slapped part of season 7 of).
And also because it's the pilot, so I can't ignore it. I also don't skip episodes because most of the time, even if I find the episode boring, they're still part of the story.
In Knothole, Sophia is sitting in bed, looking at some pictures of the Freedom Fighters in Bunnie's house. She notices one particular one where Sally, Bunnie, and Rotor...look a little different as her fur is pink and his is purple. And Bunnie has yellow fur. "Hm?" She picks it up, glancing around as Bunnie wasn't here, she went on assigned patrol to make sure that no one finds them. She takes the photo into her hands and then her eyes glow pink, as well as her rings. "I'm really curious about this...hopefully no one will notice I'm gone while I see into the past..." She then gets sucked in through the photo, but she doesn't arrive in Knothole, she arrives in a bunch of clouds.
Clouds part away in the sky, falling on Robotropolis. "E.T.A. Planet Mobius, thirty seconds…" A robotic voice announces as a ship flies down from the sky. It flies past the smoking buildings, as a Swat Bot is piloting the ship that Dr. Robotnik and is on. "Five seconds, Dr. Robotnik."
Sophia peeks in from the clouds, looking around and then hiding as she faintly can see Robotnik from her spot.
"Mmmm, we're home, Cluck," Robotnik pets his robotic chicken. "I do miss the beauty of this place when I'm away."
Cluck just chirps and she gasps. "This must be early on when the Freedom Fighters formed," She murmurs in thought as everything looks like it's in different colors. She follows after the ship using her invisibility. Snively walks up to outside to greet Robotnik, and the wind blows on him from the landing ship. He adjusts his hair to be down, but Sophia snickers, holding up a ring while latching onto the ship's roof. The hair changes to be its messy self and he fixes it. Then he hears a noise from a ship, and the hair changes back to its original form.
"Good morning, Dr. Robotnik. Exciting trip?" He asks nervously as Robotnik walks right past him.
"Shut up, Snively."
Snively frowns deeply, crossing his arms as Cluck chirps. He then drops his stiff stance, following Robotnik to a metallic door. Cluck chirps at Snively again, who takes out a remote and presses the button. This makes the eye of the robotic bird bulge out several times. Snively smirks at this and then readjusts the eye, Cluck chirping yet again.
"Oh what is it, Cluck? Does hims need another head adjustment?" Cluck lands on Robotnik's hand, and he turns the head around. The two robots cross their arms in front of them as Robotnik walks up to the door, which opens on its own. Sophia blinks as she tries to figure out what he's doing. She uses her flight and then speeds right inside, and the door closes on Snively. He knocks into it and the robots laugh at him. He pulls out the same remote, threatening to push it. The robots stop what they're doing.
Cluck chirps while Sophia slowly flies after them above Robotnik's head. He sits in his lair and Sophia peeks around the corner to spy on him.
"Any hint of that troublesome hedgehog?"
Sophia flinches as she knows exactly who he's talking about.
"Not exactly, Dr. Robotnik," Snively answers him while standing in front of his master.
"What do you mean, not exactly? Either there is or there isn't."
"Well I- you see I- but I-…. Emergency, Dr. Robotnik! Monitor ten!" Thankfully, before Snively could potentially get in trouble, one of the monitors spots Tails. He picks some flowers out of the ground and Sophia's eyes widen as she sees him.
"Isn't that one of those fetid little Freedom Fighters?!" Robotnik unfortunately recognizes him, Snively smiling proudly.
"Affirmative, sir. His name is Tails and he is usually accompanied by Sonic," Snively informs him and Sophia bites her lip nervously. Since it's the past, she can't intervene, but at the same time, she also can't let them get Tails...
"Take him! Perhaps his cries will flush out…the hedgehog!" Robotnik narrows his eyes, a wicked smile on his face. Sophia hugs the wall, conflicted on what she should do with this information...
Tails sniffs the flowers in the forest. "Princess Sally will love these! I can't wait to give them to her!" He puts down the extra leaves, sniffing the flowers again. He then lets out such a big sneeze that he rolls into a tree in a ball and then lands safely, his tails hiding him. He blows away the middle, looking up ahead to see a robot. He gasps sharply as the bee robot is heading straight for him. He spins his tails and speeds off. He screams as the robot fires lasers at him, and then Sophia swoops in to catch him.
"Whoa! Who are you?" Tails looks up at her and she gets nervous.
"Uhh, long story. But I'm here to help."
"Well, thanks!" He tells her gratefully as she dodges left and right to avoid the lasers.
Rotor, meanwhile, is going through his bag of things. "Nope, not here, uh-uh, nope, nope, nope, mmm!" He pulls out a fish and then eats it whole.
"You ready, Rotor?!" Sonic exclaims from a distance.
"Ready!" Rotor calls out as the hedgehog slides in with a guitar in his hand. He starts playing it as a spotlight is somehow on him. Rotor watches as his friend spin dashes and continues playing.
"Hey Sal, don't you call me a fool, 'cuz baby you know that I'm way past cool! Way past cool!" He does a riff while sliding over to his friend, smiling at him. "Way past cool, huh? How do you like the entrance? You know the way I come flyin' in; hit the old Axl Rose coze, right on the down beat."
"Sally won't like it," Rotor tells him, and Sonic looks annoyed by his answer. "It's too hard rock, its gotta be softer."
"Softer?!" Sonic flails his arms in protest. "What do ya mean, softer?! Oh, I hate softer! Softer is for pillows, for ice cream! Music has gotta move! It's gotta be pedal to the metal! It's gotta-"
"Ballad!" Rotor interrupts after eating another fish.
"Ballad-shmallad! Nuh-uh, no way, man! Ballads make me wanna hurl! Ugh! Chunkage contained," He waves his hands; he didn't want to do any ballads whatsoever, it wasn't his style.
Sophia glances back at the robot still chasing the duo.
"Sonnniiic!" Tails cries out for him to help.
"Thought you said Tails was pickin' flowers!" Sonic says to Rotor.
"He was... two minutes ago."
Sonic simply tosses his guitar to Rotor and speed sup, rushing over to help Tails.
"The foul little beast is ours, Cluck," Robotnik rubs his hands together. "Though this girl is very interesting. Yesssss…" He then watches as the robot continues attacking the duo before Sonic runs up from behind. "It worked! There's the hedgehog!" However, the robot just continues blasting the duo, not even seeing Sonic. "Bomber one, the hedgehog is directly behind you! Forget the small one and that girl! Get Sonic! Get him! GET HIM!"
Sophia continues flying forward until Sonic jumps in and catches them. Sophia looks back and sees a giant rock. She blasts her laser eyes to make the rock fly into the air. The robot hits the laser and it deflects back to it.
"Hang tight, Tails! We're juicing warp seven!" Sonic informs after putting the small fox into his backpack. He then grabs Sophia's hand and speeds up while the robot crashes into the ground.
"Hey, Sonic! Over here!" Rotor waves to them and notices Sophia. "Hey, who are you?"
She gives a nervous look, looking back between him and Sonic as she's not sure if telling them the truth is the best idea. "Umm..."
Before she can give a hopefully believable story, a little robot arrives to blink at them.
"Little news, bucket head Robotnik! Read the old lips," Robotnik shakes in anger as Sonic directly speaks to him. "You are history, done, through, out of here! 'Cuz the Freedom Fighters are up and on the job!"
"We're there!" Rotor adds in and Tails waves to the camera.
"Hi, mom."
Sophia simply blows a raspberry at him and Sonic turns to leave.
"Wait!" The hedgehog looks annoyed as he turns back to the robot. "Mark my words, hedgehog. Before this day is done, you, and the Power Rings, will be right in the palm of my hand. And so will your new ally it seems..."
Sophia pales a bit, wondering if she just sealed her fate of being captured by Robotnik since he knows about her and her powers now. Looking back, it was a risk, but she also doesn't care as long as it means that she'll help them in the future.
"Should we hold our breath, guys?" Sonic glances at the others.
"No way, nope, uh-uh," Rotor and Tails both reply, shaking their heads.
"Let's juice," Sonic then leaves with the three, leaving the robot behind. They stop at a tree and Sophia looks at it, since she doesn't recognize this area.
"Wake-up call, guys, the hedgehog has landed!" Sonic announces, hands on his hips.
"Wow! How fast did we go, Sonic?" Tails wonders while Rotor holds his head. Sophia slowly turns around and starts tip-toeing away from them. Maybe if she leaves now, they won't ask too many questions and she can just pretend this never happened.
"We were scootin' and rootin', lil' bro," Sonic reaches up and grabs a vine.
"No way! Scootin' and rootin'?"
"Yup, scootin' and rootin'," Rotor confirms wearily and then notices the pink-haired girl. "Hey, wait! Stop," He calls out to her and she freezes. She smiles nervously as she turns around; she could speed away, but she'd definitely get caught by Sonic, and then she'd be back where she started.
"Hey, gotta juice, but it was nice-"
"Hold on just a second," Sonic gives her a suspicious look. She looks away innocently as he taps his foot against the ground. "Who are you? And how did you know to rescue Tails when he needed it?"
"Ah, um...I'm...an international Freedom Fighter! Yeah, they sent me from...from Nalduk to come and assist you with...Robotnik!" She lies through her teeth, wondering if they're really gonna buy that. Rotor rubs his chin as he stares.
"Really? You don't look like any Freedom Fighter. You look human," He points out and she laughs it off.
"That's because I shapeshift so that people don't know who I am. It's...secret stuff."
"Like a spy! Cool," Tails exclaims and she points down at him.
"Yes, exactly that word."
"Well, thanks for saving Tails," Sonic gestures to him. "And we can certainly use the help. What's your name?"
"Um...Delilah," She tells them, hands behind her back. She takes the moment to touch her rings so that they're invisible since they haven't noticed yet, thankfully.
"I'm Sonic, that's Rotor, and this little guy is Tails," Sonic introduces them. "We'll take you to Knothole so you can meet everyone." He pulls a vine to reveal a secret passage from the tree.
"Can I ride with you, Sonic?"
"You wanna ride with me?" Sonic picks him up off the ground.
"Yeah yeah yeah!" Tails nods eagerly, the hedgehog putting him back down.
"Sorry, bud. No can do…Just kidding! Let's juice!" He grabs Tails and they go down a slide. Sophia jumps in after them and then they all zip around, emerging from a log and landing in hay. Sophia pops out and while they're still hidden in hay, she uses her wings to descend down safely, making them disappear just as their heads pop up.
"Incoming! Cannonball!" Rotor emerges from the log and Sophia ducks her head.
"Ahh!" Sonic yelps as the walrus lands in the hay, landing between them.
"Sorry 'bout that, guys."
"You're sorry?" Sonic retorts to him.
After getting out, Rotor watches Bunnie throw something with her robotic arm. "Yeugh!"
"Very good, Bunnie!" Antoine declares, gesturing to a log next to him. "Now, up we go with the new one 'ere."
She walks over, hands on her hips as she looks a little annoyed. "Why, Antoine, I do declare, what would I ever do without all your help?"
"Ah, it's nothing, really," He waves her off.
"Do tell... Sally, did y'all figure out why these silly throwing arms keep breaking?" She glances at Sally, who's working from a computer.
"We're working on it, Bunnie. Search databank for entry, variable, catapult. Allow for an extra one thousand pound capacity, and begin creation."
"Working."
Antoine peeks at the computer from behind Sally, giving her a flirtatious look. "Ooh, you're really beautiful when you work, Princess Sally."
Sally, like Bunnie, also is annoyed with him as she gives him a tiny glare. "Antoine, don't call me princess. Out here, the only royalty is Mother Nature."
He grabs her arm and kisses it repeatedly. "Mmm, to me, you'll always be royalty." Rotor scratches the top of his head, looking to Sally as she gets something. "Yes!"
"Uh-huh!" He and Sally seem to be thinking of the same thing.
"The cotter pins!" They say in unison.
"They're made of wood."
"So, when we increase our payload weight, they break!" Sally says in realization, holding up a finger.
"They've gotta be metal!" Rotor shrugs and then they hear a noise. Sally turns around with a gasp.
"It's Sonic!" Sally calls out as he arrives with Sophia.
"Thought that I detected a foul odor..." Antoine remarks to himself and when Sonic passes by, he spins around rapidly. "WAAH!" He eventually stops and Sonic comes back to see him really dizzy.
"Ant, Ant, Ant, you look a little green," He stops his fellow Freedom Fighter, who has his tongue out while green stars are spinning around him. "Actually, you look better green! You should keep it!" Sophia just stares while Sally is not happy with him. "Uh-oh Sal, what's wrong?"
"I thought you were going to help," She scolds him and the pink-haired alien shakes her head knowingly. Yup, they still acted like this in the past...
"But what about yesterday?" Sonic protests to her.
"What about it?" She places her hands on her hips in annoyance.
"Didn't I help yesterday?"
"No," She holds her head up high with a smirk.
"No?!"
"Is there an echo?" She asks innocently, Sophia giggling.
"Well what about the day before yesterday?"
"Sonic! Are you going to help us?" Sally gets irritated now as she crosses her arms.
"I was, I can, I am!" He answers in determination.
"Thank you."
"I was built for speed and born for danger! Speed is my middle name and danger is my game!" He brags while speeding around her and she doesn't look amused by it.
"This is not a game, Sonic! We need metal cotter pins for the catapults!"
"Cotter-pins? What's a cotter pin?" The hedgehog wonders in confusion. He's even more confused as Sally holds one up for him to see.
"I knew that! Cotter pins!" He snaps his fingers and then that's when Sally notices Sophia.
"Who's this?" She wonders and Sonic jerks a thumb to her.
"Oh, that's Delilah. She's an international Freedom Fighter! She came here from Nalduk to help us with Robotnik and helped save Tails."
"Well, nice to meet you, Delilah, I'm Sally," She smiles as she offers her hand. Sophia takes it and shakes hands with her.
"You too, glad I could help Tails when he needed it!" The girl replies nervously and Rotor notices that her wrists look weird, as if there's a cloaking device over them or something. He takes out a scanner to examine them from behind, and gets high energy levels.
"Whoa! ...Where have I seen these levels before?" He murmurs in thought.
"Come on, Rotor! We gotta do the ring thing. Come with us, Delilah. Can we call you Lily for short? Delilah's becoming kind of a drag."
"Oh, uh, yes to all of that!" She bites her lip as Rotor jumps onto Sonic's back. Sally gasps as she watches them leave and then sighs heavily. Sonic could be so stubborn sometimes...
Sonic, Rotor, and Tails look over the river where Sonic gets his rings.
"Is it time yet?" Tails asks a bit impatiently.
"Any second now," Rotor says in anticipation and then gets a beep from his scanner. He takes it out and sees that the levels from the lake...are a match from the energy Sophia gives out. He recoils back in shock...there's no way she could know about these...right?
"Here it comes…" Rotor grabs him by the waist and holds him above the lake as the ring emerges from it. He then grabs onto it with both hands. "I got it! Hey, Sonic, how come you're the only guy who can use the Power Rings?" He puts the power ring into Sonic's backpack.
"My Uncle Chuck invented 'em for me so I could bring down dorks like Robotnik," Sonic places his hands on his hips.
"I hate creepy old Robotnik!" Tails declares, clenching his fists.
"Yeah, don't we all," Sonic agrees with him.
"Yeah!" Rotor adds in, turning to Sophia. "Speaking of Robotnik...Lily, could I talk to you about something? It's about the power you're giving off..."
"Oh, look at that, gotta go!" Sophia exclaims rapidly, flying off from the log. She has to be careful; if she uses her speed, they'd be asking a lot of questions that she couldn't answer. Otherwise she'd give away that she's not who she said she is.
Sonic comes to a stop on a pathway, tapping his foot impatiently. He watches Rotor emerge from a bush, eating more fish.
"Did you get it?" He wonders with a smile.
"Yup, get six of these, but they have to be metal," Rotor holds up a cotter-pin.
"No prob!" Sonic and Rotor then do a special handshake.
"Be cool, Sonic and Lily," He tells them, rubbing his chin at Sophia. "Are you sure there's something you're not telling us?"
"Way past."
"Nope, nothing at all, bye!" Sophia pushes Sonic away and flies into the air.
"What's this all about?" Sonic looks up at her.
She just shrugs at him and he gives her a suspicious look. Tails is flying into the forest when he crashes into a tree.
"Ow!" He rolls and falls onto the ground. He gives an annoyed look as he stands up. "Oh you stupid- arrrgh!" He makes his tails fly again and dashes forward. Then he crashes into the tree again. "Ow!" He rolls back onto the ground again. "Stupid tree."
He braces himself as he hears Sonic and Sophia arrive, and they look at him on the ground.
"Tails, what are you doing?"
He stands up and walks off proudly. "Going to the big city."
Sonic speeds in front of him to stop the little fox. He then holds up Tails by the back. "I'm excited for ya, little bro, but that's nowhere near cool."
"How come?" He asks innocently.
"Ah, how to put this?" Sophia rubs her chin.
"Because the big city is crawling with Swat-Bots, they're all over the place, just waiting for ya to come to town, so they can roboticize you," Sonic says in a spooky voice.
"Sonic," Sophia gives him a 'really' look.
"What?"
"They are?!" Tails stammers in fear.
"Sure, they are," He places the fox back down. He then realizes something. "Hey, how do you know what Robotropolis is like?"
"...Instinct," Sophia bites her lip awkwardly and he raises a brow, not buying that answer. He'd have to keep a close eye on her...that's probably what Rotor was hinting to her about earlier too.
"Okay, but it's a long way back to Knothole," Tails turns to Sonic pleadingly. "So if a Buzz-Bomber gets real mad and gobbles me up, I bet you're going to feel just terrible." Sonic gasps in realization as Tails dejectedly walks off. He speeds in front of Tails, knocking the little fox down.
"Okay, okay, you can go. But listen up, you stay in my backpack and guard the Power Ring, got it?"
"Got it!" Tails stands up with a smile and they share a handshake. He then hops into Sonic's backpack. "Is it gonna be dark when we get to the big city?"
"That's the plan! Hold on, we're gonna juice!" He speeds up and takes off, Tails hollering in excitement. Sophia takes flight after them.
It's raining in Robotropolis as a ship is doing night patrol. "Patrol nine, status?"
"C-sector normal."
They leave and then the trio reveal themselves to be hiding in a trash can.
"Place is crawling with Swat-Bots, guys, so we gotta chill, serious!" He warns them both, Sophia nodding at him. They step out into the rain, Sonic peeking around the corner. He glances back to the duo, Tails walking up.
"Eww, how come the big city smells so yucky?" He wonders to the hedgehog.
"Cause Robotnik's factories hurl tons of crud into the sky everyday," Sonic explains and Sophia had to bite back a laugh.
"Ah-ah-AHCHOO!" Tails lets out a loud sneeze from the rain, crashing into a pile of junk.
"Gesundheit!" Sonic grabs his arm as a ship is searching the area and he grabs Sophia, speeding them both over to hide. He emerges from a couple of pipes, all of them covered in soot. "Past cool, Tails…" A bunch of Swat bots head for a building while Sonic holds up what he needs. "Cotter-pins!" He puts them into his backpack, looking back and seeing that the Swat-bots don't look like the usual ones.
"Who are those guys?" Tails questions as they watch.
"They used to be people, then Robotnik fed them through his robo-machine and now they're robots working in his crud factories," Sonic informs him and Sonic looks away, remembering when she learned about her parents being them...
"Is Uncle Chuck there?"
"Don't see 'im," The hedgehog looks a bit hardened as he's very defensive over his uncle and the fact that he's one of those roboticized people.
"Can I see Uncle Chuck's picture again?" Sonic holds it out, as a kid Sonic is on the shoulder of Uncle Chuck, a dog nearby. "Do you miss Uncle Chuck?"
"A ton, Muttski, too…"
"I'm really sorry to hear that, Sonic," Sophia's eyes sadden at him.
"Yeah...you okay? You've been kinda quiet."
"Just stuff on my mind," She rubs the back of her neck.
"Like what?" He asks suspiciously, hands on his hips. Something about her is still off to him. They hear something, looking up to see a robotic dog.
"That's one mean lookin'-"
"That's... that's Muttski!" Sonic says in realization.
"He looks too mean."
"Cause he's a robot, but he won't hurt me," Sonic tells the skeptical Tails. "I'm his best bud. Muttski, over here, boy!" He waves and Muttski looks up, snorting out some smoke. "Hey it's me, Sonic." He barks and then runs up to them, rather aggressively too. Tails hides in the backpack and just before Muttski bites, Sonic and Sophia move away from him. He looks at his behind, some fur bitten off.
"Woah! Muttski, Muttski, Muttski, this is the thanks I get after putting you through four years of obedience school. Bad dog! You sit, you stay! You don't bite, understand?" Sophia raises a brow as Muttski sits up, barking and wagging his tail. "See Tails, you gotta take control, let the dog know who's in charge." Sophia just shrugs as they don't have dogs on her planet, more like little blobs with legs, but they act like cats. Sonic jumps down from his spot, the alien girl sliding down over to them. Muttskit starts licking the hedgehog's cheeks. "Ha ha! Muttski, have you seen Uncle Chuck hangin out?" He gets no answer. "...Aww, someday we'll find him. You know what I'm gonna do Muttski? Change you back to a real dog! You know, chewing up furniture, chasing cars, drinking from the toilet! All that cool dog stuff."
Muttski licks Sophia, who chuckles as Tails pops out of the backpack.
"How you gonna do that?"
"By reversing him through Robotnik's robo-machine..." However, Muttski starts to lose control. "Woah, Muttski!" Tails yelps as he hides again. Muttski growls and that's the sign for them to leave. Sonic and Sophia jump back onto the pile. "Bad dog, Muttski! Mondo bad dog! You're supposed to be hedgehog's best friend..." Muttski snatches some metal, changing it in his mouth to shoot out bolts at them. "Woah! Okay, okay, that's it, I can take a hint, Muttski. But hang in there, because someday we'll be together again."
He speeds right past the robotic dog, causing it to spin around in the air. He speeds into town with Sophia above him, the Swat ships chasing after them. They duck into a building, the ships coming to a stop as the door is too small to fit any of their ships.
The three burst out of the door that leads to the roof...where they are met by Swatbots.
"Uh-oh, more SWATguys," Tails says in worry from the backpack.
"C'mon bot, brains, move it..." Sonic taps his foot impatiently while looking at his watch. The group of robots get closer to them. Sonic then starts snoring, Sophia looking at him in disbelief. He then finally bends down a bit. "Hold on to your lunch, Tails!" He gets into a spin dash before knocking down all of the robots. "Tails, you ok?"
"Yup..." Tails replies meekly and Sophia uses her hearing.
"We've got company," She announces as the door behind them opens to reveal more of them.
"Not again..." The fox says in fear as Sonic dashes off, hiding inside a vent. Sophia turns invisible and goes after them. "Where are we?"
"An air vent, but hey, no prob, I got eyes like a hawk..."
"Ahhh!" As soon as he says that, they all start falling in darkness.
Robotnik is in his lair, monologuing to his Swatbots. "Tonight, I shall reveal my most brilliant plan to date, that will positively eliminate the nasty little hedgehog. As well as all the other so-called Freedom Fighters, and bring me the Power Rings!" As he's saying this, Sonic is sliding right above the air vent that Robotnik just happens to be standing underneath. Sophia dives down and grabs him, flying with her wings, though it was getting hard to quiet herself because it's a tight space inside the vent. "My plan is simple in its genius."
Sophia stops right above the cover, Sonic sighing in relief. "Is there a quiet mode?" He asks her and she shrugs cluelessly. The air starts coming in and blasting Sophia upwards.
"Sonic, I gotta go to the bathroom. Real, real bad!" Tails pops out of the backpack.
Robotnik pats a huge tank with orange liquid in it. "Inside these tanks, is a new chemical that I created, then my Buzz-Bombers, under Snively's direction, will use to spray over the Great Forest, and instantly kill all trees!" Cluck lands near Snively, who holds up the remote as a threat for the thing to stay away. "Revealing the Freedom Fighter's secret hiding place, Knothole Village!" Sonic gasps sharply from both the news and Tails struggling to keep in a sneeze. "Thus, allowing my Swat-Bots, to capture Princess Sally! And if that horrid hedgehog should show up, I have a little surprise - the hedgehog seeking missile!" On screen in front of him is a missile in the likeness of Sonic. "Start the countdown!"
Snively activates it to go off in ten seconds.
"AhhhCHOO!" Tails sneezes so big that he ends up hovering and then falls down, knocking all three of them onto the ground in Robotnik's lair.
"Wellllll, nice of you to drop in, hedgehog!" Robotnik grins down at him. "And you brought a friend, how wonderful."
Sophia gasps sharply since he knows what she looks like now.
"Did we miss dinner?" Sonic asks nervously. Robotnik laughs evilly as all three are restrained by Swatbots. "Does this mean dinner's off?"
"It means, hedgehog, that your days as a Freedom Fighter, are over," Robotnik remarks, rubbing his hands together.
Sonic looks around innocently. "You talking to me?"
"Of course!" Robotnik growls out.
"I don't think so, there's still too much work to do! Listen, I'd like to stay and really get to know you, Robotnik, but it's juice time!" He speeds up his feet, Sophia flashing a robot with her laser eyes to make him let go. Sonic grabs her hand and then speeds all the way over to a wall behind Robotnik, going up it. He then runs on the ceiling.
"Get them! Get them! GET THEM!" Robotnik starts to get more angry as the three escape through the open doorway. "GET THE HEDGEHOG AND THAT GIRL!" They emerge out of an air vent and take off, with Swatbots following. Sonic comes to a stop along with Sophia as they're faced with a row of Swatbots heading their way. Two ships, one of them driven by Robotnik, appear behind them. "Let's see you worm out of this one, hedgehog!"
"Only one way to get out of this," Sophia murmurs, glancing at the hedgehog.
"Tails, time to get the Power Ring," Sonic holds out his hand, Tails giving it to him. He holds it up as it glows and Sophia waves her hands, revealing her invisible ones and they glow.
"The Power Ring!" Robotnik looks away from the blinding light. The Swatbots run over to stop them.
"Hold on, Tails, we're gonna warp Sonic!" The hedgehog calls out in a distorted way since the ring is giving off so much power. He goes into a spin dash while Sophia fires several pink blasts at the robots. As soon as they're finished, they escape.
"You were fortunate this time, hedgehog, but the night is young," Robotnik declares while clenching a fist.
"Ha ha, is this way past cool or what?" Tails laughs while wearing some goggles.
"Way past!" Sonic exclaims as they escape into the forest. They come to a stop and he turns around to face Sophia. "Alright Lily...time to get some answers," He demands, pointing up a finger at her. "Who are you really?"
She sighs in defeat, sitting on a tree trump in front of them. "Alright, okay...I'll tell you everything."
It's nighttime in Knothole, and Sally sighs, since the trio haven't returned back yet. She's sitting near Bunnie, who is in bed.
"It's bad enough that Sonic doesn't help out, now I'm worried about him and Tails."
"I'm sure they're fine, Sally," Bunnie responds while yawning.
"Do you think Sonic does all those childish things just to make me mad?" Sally asks while looking out the window. Bunnie sits up, revealing she has a facial on.
"Oh, honey-pie, I think that's just Sonic, it's what makes him special." As soon as she says that, a loud noise is heard.
"Sonic!" Sally smiles happily.
"And the Buzz-Bombers are headed here right now with some chemical Robotnik invented, that's gonna kill all the trees and expose Knothole!" Sonic informs all the Freedom Fighters. "Somehow we gotta stop him!"
"I have a plan!" Sally smiles, hands on her hips.
A bunch of Buzz-Bombers are heading for the Great Forest. "Great Forest straight ahead! Six minutes!"
Rotor glances back from a catapult. "OK, that's all of em," He reports to everyone.
"Tails, see anything?" Sonic looks up at a tree.
"Sure, millions of things! Rocks, mountains, trees…" He looks around using some binoculars. Sonic just looks away exasperated.
Sally walks up to him. "Sonic, the new cotter pins really helped, and Rotor reinforced the throwing arms, but their range is still limited. The Buzz-Bombers have to fly close enough," She explains to him as Sophia lands nearby.
"Hmm, problemo," He taps his chin. He scratches his head and then snaps his fingers. "Woah, the old light bulb just went off in my head. The Buzz-Bombers hate my guts, right?"
"Yes, so?"
"What do you mean, so?" The hedgehog asks in confusion, Sophia placing a hand on her forehead.
"So, as in, so what?"
"So, they'll follow me anywhere, including inside our catapult range!" He mimics a cheering crowd, bowing. "Thank you, thank you, I am humble!"
"Is he always like this in the future?" Sally mutters to Sophia, who slowly nods. "I hate to admit it...but you're right."
"Alright Soph, you're coming with me!" He tells her, to her shock.
"Not sure how I feel getting shot out of a catapult," She deadpans to him. "I already fly."
"You're from an alien planet, who time-traveled from the future to help us. I think we're way past suspension of disbelief," He places his hands on his hips.
"Fair point."
They both jump into one catapult each, looking towards the Buzz-Bombers. He gives a thumbs up to Sally and Rotor, who launch the two into the air.
"Activate in ten seconds, Bomber One! Ten, nine-"
Suddenly Sonic and Sophia appear, holding some water balloons.
"You look a little hot, Buzzbrain! Better cool down with some ice water!" He tosses it right onto the robot, who shorts out.
"The hedgehog, where is he? Where is the hedgehog!" Robotnik growls, slamming down a fist.
"I-I-I'm... searching, your Excellency," Snively stammers while working the controls.
"Find him!"
"Pfft!" Sonic blows a raspberry while Sophia waves her hands. "Here I am, slug head! Give me your best shot!" One of them fires and they jump to the side. "Ooh, I'd like to hang, but I gotta juice!"
"See ya!" Sophia salutes before they take off using their super speed.
"Use the Hedgehog Missile! And capture that girl so that I can know her power!" The Hedgehog Missile is fired, the two glancing back as it's heading towards them. They skid to a stop, Sonic looking at his arm.
"C'mon missile head, I'm getting bored," He yawns and then the missile takes them with it. He whistles as the two are sitting on the missile. The missile comes to a stop, looking at them. "Looking for us?" They jump onto some Buzz-Bombers. " Yo, back here, needle nose!" The missile heads for the horde, which hits all but one. All the chemicals fall into rock. Sonic waves as Sophia helps him descend towards the ground. "Hello!"
"Get them, bomber one, or I will turn you into a can opener!" He dives after the two.
"Here comes Sonic and Sophia, and Buzz-Bombers right behind them!" The two appear from both sides of her. "Fire!" Several water balloons are fired from the catapults, hitting the other Bombers. More of them arrive. "Fire!" The rest get knocked out by the water balloons, but Tails gets chased by one.
"Ahhh! Help! Sonic!" Sally directs them to fire again. "Sonic help me! Sonic!" The bomber gets pelted with water balloons and then crashes into a tree.
"What are you doing bomber one?! Get back there!" The bomber could barely fly on its own. "Get that hedgehog! Do you read me?! I want the hedgehog!" However, every single bomber leaves in fear, everyone cheering for their victory. Robotnik turns to Snively.
"Come here..."
"Um, alright..." He gulps and walks forward. Robotnik walks up and basically hits him.
Sonic and Sally high-five each other and Sophia flickers. She looks down in confusion, everyone staring at her. "Oh, I must be fading back into the future..." She murmurs and smiles, waving to everyone. "Goodbye!"
"Bye, Sophia!" They all tell her while waving.
"See you in the future, Soph," Sonic smiles as he waves and she completely fades away.
"You were really great today," She compliments him.
"Thanks, what about yesterday?"
"What about it?" She wonders as they walk off.
"Wasn't I great yesterday too?"
"Hm, so-so," She remarks shortly.
"So-so?"
"Is there an echo?"
"Well what about the day before yesterday?" He continues pressing her.
"What about it?"
"Well was I great, or so-so."
"I don't remember the day before yesterday."
"Well I do, and I was great!"
Angel: Okay, something I didn't notice until I rewatched this episode for the first time in several years, the animation is so weird XD Like where Sonic flails his arms, they just put it on loop like twice. Or the color palettes on some of the characters or their initial designs.
