Day 156: Oathday the 21st, Calistril, 4708
The Quads woke me up telepathically, indicating that they were ready to finish off the Power Station. I carefully extricated myself from the bed, leaving Savah to rest, while I quietly got dressed and armored. I brought my old tool bag down with me because I was sacrificing one of my tools today. It needed to be done to get the job done correctly, and I will need to be making or acquiring another to replace it if I am going to go further with advancing this world's technological level. Maybe when we take the trip to Terra, I can pick up another one, I just hope that we find a way to exchange precious metals for cold hard fiat currency.
I made my way down to the new Power Station building where the Quads were waiting just outside in their homemade power wheels. I smiled greeted them all verbally before they dismounted and we made our way into the building to start our workday, at approximately two thirty in the morning. Midway through the workday, or six thirtyish, Faunra showed up with a **BAMF**. Faunra told me that progress was being made on the truck golem and asked how the process was working on the Power Station. I looked over at our work and told Faunra that the Power Station was finished, and we were ready to start on the other things, as long as I had a crew here to keep everything maintained.
Faunra proffered up the Rod of Extending that we utilized so frequently for the time dilation spells that I would use so frequently for us in combat. I took the proffered tool and immediately used it to summon up a horde of Unseen Craftsmen, tasked solely on maintaining the operating condition of the facility. This facility, if it works even half as well as my worst projections proclaim, would generate much more power than we would ever need based on our current electrical loads and with that it needed to be watched and monitored. Maybe once every six weeks I'd have to repeat the casting this spell, or every three weeks without this rod. Not too much of an issue, honestly, especially if it keeps things running smoothly.
I immediately thought that maybe eventually I can get Faunra to help me enchant the building so that it takes away another one of my recurring tasks, but with something this minor, I didn't think it would be an issue for a little while. Faunra smiled after she saw that I had completed the spell and was now in my own little world inside my head, and asked if I had time to talk about what I was planning. I thanked the Quads for all of their hard work and sent them to work on the secret project in the school cafeteria. They waved to what could be considered their mother before they all hopped on their power wheels and rolled off. Faunra and I walked to the principal's, I mean my, office.
I sat down at my desk and Faunra sat across from me, before she used her ring to change her clothes to the stereotypical fetish school uniform. I shook my head and told her the get that hem below the knee. Faunra pouted and did so with another flourish of her ring. I asked her what she wanted to talk about with regards to my secret project. Faunra sighed and said that she had discovered further ways that a person can *REDACTED…. SAVAH YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO READ THIS YET*. I asked her how many further ways, and what they were, and she told me that she would help me on this, but that it was now increased to *REDACTED… SERIOUSLY, THIS IS A BIG SURPRISE FOR YOU, AND YOU WILL KNOW THE START OF IT IN LESS THAN A WEEK JUST WAIT*
I asked her what she would need for this, and she told me that she would need a fair amount of gold to get the required components. I asked her to walk with me with something that I could get this done fairly quickly. We walked over to a fairly large tree just outside of Scratchpoint and I mentally asked if Niddler could possibly come over to talk to me. Niddler agreed and flew over to the tree. I asked him if the tree was slated to be removed for the expansion of Scratchpoint. Niddler said that it wasn't necessary, but it wasn't needed either.
I thanked him and then I reached out with a hand and touched the tree while focusing. With a flourish, I pulled my hand away and the tree changed into a massive stack of… sheets of paper. Uniform lengths and widths, over twenty cubic feet of paper sheets. Faunra looked at me and I made a rough estimate that it would be worth over twenty-five thousand gold pieces, as a start for her to research. Faunra nodded and started moving the paper into an extradimensional storage area.
Before Faunra left, I broached the topic of adding in a little side feature into the armors that we make ad enchant it with the transmutation effect, that if the armor leaves the permanent possession of the person it was made for, or if someone else tries to study it, it will transform into maybe iron or even paper and have a small fire ignite it. Faunra nodded, noting that it would be important to ensure that the armor does not get into the hands of those who should not have it. Faunra said that she would look into it, but that we would likely have to decide which material it turns into during the enchantment. I told that if pushed, I would probably prefer the paper/fire trick, as iron would leave something to be investigated, and if a circumstance like this comes to pass, then it would be better to just replace the set than risk it. Faunra nodded and said that she could work it in cheaply enough, before *BAMFING* away again.
I got the Quads working on the first one of the *REDACTED, SERIOUSLY, THERE IS LESS THAN SEVEN DAYS BEFORE THE GRAND REVEAL. I PROMISE IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT* in the School Cafeteria's special section. I finished up my portion and went to go check in with Savah. She was managing the store, but it was quiet right now. I walked in and asked her how she was doing. Savah smiled and told me that it was a fairly quiet day, but that she was happy enough that it was okay.
Savah then insinuated that she'd be even more happy if I told her the big secret that I was working on. I sighed and told her that it was less than a week before everything was finished, and that she can last that long. Savah growled a little in frustration but smiled a little. I asked her what she wanted to do tonight. Savah shrugs and says that she didn't really any preferences right at this moment, except of course, to find out about that secret.
I sigh and tell Savah that I'll consider telling her tomorrow, as long as she doesn't bring it up again tonight. Savah closed her lips up quick with that self-assured smile that she gets when she knows that she is going to get what she wants. I shook my head and told her that we should go get dinner at the Rusty Dragon. Savah smiled as she heard where I was saying we should go and said that she would like that. We closed up the shop together and walked out to go to Ameiko's to see what she had on the menu for tonight.
When we got to the Rusty Dragon, Ameiko rushed forward greet us warmly and to hug both of us, Savah a bit more gently than myself. Savah gave Ameiko a look and asked her what culinary invention she had created this time. Ameiko said that she had talked with Jonathan and managed to barter something with him to get a sneak peek at the recipe book that he had gotten from me. Ameiko offered up that she had found a recipe for something called Orange Chicken that she was modifying to work with what she had access to. I laughed and told her that I was certain that her version was going to be superb.
And of course, it was. I don't know where she was able to get ahold of the peppers and spices needed, but she did, and she did a great facsimile of the dish. Savah and I had a nice quiet dinner, of course I had to provide the crowd with a short tale about our adventures. I chose to tell them a bit about the battles that we have had with the different dragons. The first dragon we fought being the Black Dragon named Black Fang, the red dragon named Longtooth, the white dragon that we fought named Arkrhyst, and the blue dragon named Ghlorofaex.
One person in the audience asked why we never fought a green dragon, and I shrugged and told them that we never encountered one, let alone one that actually needed to be dealt with. I added that if anyone had any rumors of Green Dragons causing issues, that they should let one of our group members know. I finished up my stories about the fighting of the dragons and realized that it was really Jonathan who was the MVP for all of our dragon slaying needs. For all of the bluster about large amounts of ammunition being flung down range, Jonathan is the one who brings the heavy guns. I kept my reflection to myself as I finished my stories and the listeners thanked me for telling them the stories and then went back to eating.
After we were finished, Ameiko sat down with us and discussed how things were going to be changing in the town. Savah talked about how the school would end up changing things in the future. Ameiko nodded and noted that she might want to take a few classes there. I enjoyed the back and forth between the two and reflected back on my new future. I got a feeling that I will be very busy in the future.
