chapter two

Cameron and Foreman were on the way to their respective cars when they heard the gunshot. They ducked expecting to see a stray bullet whizzing past them. When any failed to materialize, they looked around and then that was when they noticed Chase.

"Get help," Foreman told Cameron.

He kneeled and took in the damage. Chase had a bullet in his head and if that wasn't bad enough, the site of the penetration was bleeding profusely. He didn't know the extent of the injury but he knew that it would take a miracle for him to survive.

Soon help came along and he was able to put pressure on the wound. This was going to be bad, foreman thought. Chase was going to be a gonner.

"Okay, one two three," they lifted him on a stretcher and raced him into the hospital.

The surgeon met them at the OR and surveyed the damage. It was hard for him to explain but the chances of living were not in his favor. He closed the double doors behind him leaving the two co-workers to worry.

"He's going to die," Cameron questioned after some waiting.

"He isn't, he will survive because he is strong," Foreman answered.

Now all he had to do was convince himself.

The policeman had gotten reports from all of them and then he had went to question the others. They were certain he'd get the answer soon.

The surgeon came out shaking his head and sitting near them.

"The damage alone was enough to kill him, He didn't survive the surgery, I'm sorry. His eyes dilated and his brain just died," the surgeon explained.

It was impossible to believe, but he was dead.
