"Boy!" Watto called, flying over to the small child who was working away in his store. "Have you finished fixing those generators yet?!"

"Yes, Watto." Anakin Skywalker answered. "I repaired every single one of them like you asked me this morning. They're all ready to be go on sale in the shop tomorrow."

"Good, very good!" Watto chuckled. "Okay, boy, you're finished for today. You can go now."

"Yippee!"

Watto pressed his hands to his ears, wincing at the cringeworthy sound the child had just happily let out. He grunted and watched with a glare as Anakin raced cheerfully out of the store. If the boy wasn't such an efficient worker, the Toydarian would have sent him packing years ago.

Leaving the store being, Anakin headed hastily through the rowdy neighbourhood of Mos Espa. The young boy was confident that he would one day say goodbye to life as a slave for food. He was determined to ditch the dull boring life he lived on Tatooine, replacing it for an exciting, adventurous one as a Jedi.

Anakin was certain that his dream would somehow come true. He was going to prove himself to be a powerful Jedi that everyone across the galaxy would know and remember.

"Hey, Ani!"

Hearing a voice call him, Anakin turned to see two of the local kids - Kitster and Amee - sitting nearby on the sand. They were both smiling and waving to him. He was pleased to see the the other boy and the girl. These were his friends who he hung out while off work for the day.

"Hey, guys!" Anakin called, running over to the other children to join them.

"You finished your work in the shop?" Kitster asked.

"I sure am!" Anakin nodded. "Watto's had me slaving away since the rising of the two suns this morning. Only when I fixed all the generators just now did he let me go."

"Great!" Amee smiled. "Now you can play with us!"

"Wizard!" Anakin cheered. "Alright, let's play Jedi!"

The smiles Kitster and Amee had on their faces disappeared. They were bewildered by having their Jedi-wannabe friend who had just arrived take control - as well as the word he had just let out in his elation.

"Er, Ani-"

"I'll be the almighty powerful Jedi, you be the evil Sith Lord who I have to fight with my laser sword…" Anakin pointed to Kitster as he assigned him a role in the game he had completely thought out before turning to do the same to Amee. "And you can be the helpless captured princess who I have to rescue!"

"Uh, sure, Ani…" Ame forced her smile to return. "Right after we're done building our sandcastles."

"What?!"

Anakin's face fell. His face filled with shock to hear what his friends were up to. He peered past them to notice the enormous sandcastle which Kitster and Amee had worked together to create.

Something inside Anakin snapped. His hands clenched into fists. The small slave was outraged to find out his friends were playing in the very stuff Tatooine was covered in - which he had a particular distaste for.

"What are you guys up to?" Anakin demanded.

"We're up to about fourteen floors in this castle," Kitster answered innocently.

"Isn't it beautiful!" Amee gazed proudly over the sandcastle she and her friend had built together. "This could be the home of the princess you want me to be, Ani."

"Well we're not ready to start that game yet," Kitster said. "We're still not done with this castle. I wanna put a big lake around it. Wanna help us start digging a hole in the sand to fill with water, Ani?"

Anakin's eyes narrowed. They appeared to be changing colour. It was as if some hints of the Dark Side were already creeping through the future Darth Vader - brought on by the thought of playing in the sand.

"ARRRGGGHHH!"

With a loud angry yell, Anakin charged at the castle. He began to rip it apart with his hands and kick it with his feet - much to the shock of his two friends who had built it.

"Anakin!" Kitster cried, trying to pull his friend away from the sandcastle he was wrecking. "What are you doing?"

"Stop it, Ani!" Amee squealed, also trying to tug the insane youth away. "You're gonna ruin it!"

Anakin took no notice. He continued to roar in rage as he tore at the sand castle while kicking it to pieces. If he was aware that he already had the Force inside of him, he would had used it to wreck his friends' work of art in an instant.

With a hard yank, Kitster and Amee pulled Anakin back away from the sandcastle. The three children fell back to crash down onto the ground. They peered towards where the amazing sandcastle had stood before them with pride.

All that was left there were piles of jumped sand. It looked nothing like a castle anymore. All of Kitster and Amee's hard work was ruined - thanks to their immature, reckless friend.

"Anakin!" Kitster burst out. "What's gotten into you?!"

"I should be asking the pair of you that!" Anakin glared hotly. "Why are you two playing in this stupid stuff Tatooine is covered in?"

"Because we're kids!" Amee wailed. "All kids play in sand!"

"Not me! You won't catch me doing a thing like that!"

"You're such a weirdo!" Kitster frowned. "You're the only kid out there who won't play in sand!"

"Why don't you like sand, Ani?" Amee asked. "Sand is fun!"

"No it isn't! It's course and rough and irritated - and it gets everywhere!"

"You're talking Banther dodoo!" Kitster scrambled to his feet, taking Amee's hand as he pulled her up to her own. "That's it, Ani! You can't play with us now!"

The pair walked away together, leaving Anakin all alone with the piles of sand he had been kicking and tearing at. He gazed all around at the grainy yellow stuff the planet he lived on was covered in. His fiery dislike for such stuff burned inside the small child.

"I hate sand…" Anakin muttered grudgingly to himself - having absolutely no idea that such hate was a path to the Dark Side…

The end.
