Just one chance

"Well, it was, um, very interesting and shocking to meet you, but I am going to go that way now," Kagome had an uneasy feeling, and she decided to see her way out of any further conversation. While the distraction was much needed, she felt now was a good time as ever to get far away from the woman.

Sesshomaru turned to follow, no longer amused by his suspicious mother.

"Miko," The woman called out. Against her better judgment, she stopped and looked back.

"I would like to extend an invitation,"

Sesshomaru turned his golden eyes to his mother.

"An invitation?"

"Yes, it's very important, you see, and I do believe with you would be best to aid me,"

"Aid you?"

"It is time the West returned to its formal glory, and you, my little princess, will need a home,"

"Mother," He didn't like this.

Kagome turned fully to her. His mother walked closer. "I have no faith in my son to produce a child within the next century, and the half breeds child will be more human than demon and not fit for the thrown as it will not live long enough to inherit it,"

Kagome's lips parted. "I'm sorry, but I still fail to see how I can be the one to help you,"

"What game are you playing, mother,"

She ignored her son and held up a necklace. "I need you to release my mate so that I may carry once more,"

Sesshomaru stood stunned. "What do you mean release?" He asked,

"You father's body may be in that grave, but his soul is here; with her help, they will join once more, just as Kikyo now breathes, so shall he!"

Kagome looked back at Sesshomaru, then back at his mother. "Could, um, could you give us till tomorrow,"

"Us? I am asking you, not him,"

Kagome was growing so tired. "Fine, can you give me till tomorrow,"

"Is your human side still adjusted?"

She was very tired.

"We have but one chance to do this; it has to be tomorrow night under the blood moon,"

Inukimi tilted her head. "You do not look well,"

"Thanks," She didn't feel well; her mind was becoming clouded,

"Miko?" She heard the woman again, but her voice was faded; suddenly, she felt weak, her legs gave out, and her eyes rolled back.

Kagome fainted.

Sesshomaru caught her.

His mother came close to inspect. "Hm, her human body needs rest to adjust to the power that now rolls through her," Their eye met. "Bring her,"

"I am not her keeper,"

"Then leave her," His mother challenged. Whatever his mother was planning, he didn't like it. Last time he saw her, she all but sent Rin to hell. But leaving her on the ground was not an option.

"Bring her,"

He didn't have to ask; he knew where.

So, to the moon palace they went.
