Everyone in school seemed to be something. Except Sam, she just was. In freshman year Tucker was right, if she told the school she was loaded, she would have had instant popularity. But she didn't want that, she wanted honesty and loyalty. Danny and Tucker seemed to be the only people who met that criteria. Whatever she couldn't tell out loud she wrote down. Lately all that went in it was her venting her rage on Danny's obsessive habits on ogling Paulina. Under the big oak outside the school she was writing her most recent poem on the subject.
Your beauty is beyond compare,
With ebony locks of auburn hair,
With shimmering skin,
And eyes of ocean blue.
Your smile is like a breath of spring,
Your voice is soft like summer rain,
And I cannot compete with you,
Paulina.
No one was allowed to read her notebook, her mother tried to pry Sam to open it. But Mrs. Mason unfortunately only got a thorough chewing out. The guys didn't even know about, or just didn't seem to notice. Maybe they didn't want to, and that hurt Sam deeply. It was as if Danny and Tucker didn't want to know anything real about her. Was it because she was an outcast, a goth? Or was it because her curves weren't volumized? She didn't let half her ass hang out of her skirt? That would explain a lot. Like the fact that she could win first prize in the writing competition in Stineburg, and the guys wouldn't utter a sound. But Paulina could bend over and pick up a dime it would be all they talked about for a week's time.
He talks about you in his sleep,
There's nothing I can do to keep,
From crying when he calls your name,
Paulina.
I can easily understand,
How you could easily take my man.
But you don't know what he means to me,
Paulina.
In her notebook she had a list of all the cute boys in school. Danny was in the top five of course. But so was Dash Baxter to her dismay. He is the complete opposite of her in every way possible. But his abs looked as if they were chiseled from bronze. Danny Fenton on the other hand was long, lanky, and lean. But down to a tee with Sam when it came to mental notes. From that first time they met in kindergarten when he fell from the tire swing, and landed on her. He helped her up, concerned, dusted her off, and invited her to play with him. Just like that she had been head over heels since. The time when Ember cast a spell on Danny was mildly surprising to her, but happy all the same. She still doesn't know if it was completely against his will or if Ember intensified his feelings. She hopes it's the latter. There was also the time when Kitty possessed Paulina's body it sent Sam on the edge of desperation. Not to mention that it sent the two of them back to square one on the whole relationship situation.
You could have your choice men,
But I could never love again,
He's the only one for me.
I've had to have this talk with you,
My happiness depends on you,
And whatever you decide to do,
Paulina.
Danny and Sam have had their moments, but not strong enough for Danny to act. She didn't either, to be fair enough. Maybe she would never tell him how she felt, he probably wouldn't either. But the gaping hole would always be sitting between them.
Paulina please don't take my man,
Please don't take him even though you can.
