Chapter 5

Ino , Sakura and Sai were hiding behind a large rock with their eyes sharply on the bridge , they have been waiting there for hours now but resting was not an option with a mission of this magnitude .

Kakashi meanwhile had been hiding some 20 metres South of the bridge behind another rock (approx where 4 tail Naruto landed after being hit by Orochimaru sword) and Yamato is camouflaged around the same distance North of the bridge while Naruto was hiding all the way on the other side in thick shrubbery .

Ino was sweating nervous right now she was not going to make this a repeat of the last mission she kept going on over and over inside her head about the plan .

Flashback previous day :

"Alright I hope everybody is rested and ready , today we will go over the plan and test run it multiple times on this hot spring bridge and then you all can practice anything you want individually ." Kakashi standing with Naruto and Yamato addressed the 3 chunins in front of him.

"Naruto since it's your operation I want you to tell them about the plan it would be good for me and Yamato to have a second listen as well." Naruto nodded and stepped up taking out a map from his cloak and addressing everyone .

"Okay so our target will be to observe and follow the spy back to the hideout , we cannot do that by being in his close proximity so we need to improvise , Ino Sakura chan and Sai will be near the head of the bridge prepared for a situation in case we are compromised , you three will jump and capture him ."

They all nodded

"As for me , Kakashi sensei and Yamato taichou , we'll be placed here, here and here ." he pointed to 3 'x' marks on the map . "Okay so this is what we have to do –"

Present day

Sakura looks at Ino who was visibly nervous and lost in thoughts, she gives her a shoulder tap " Hey Ino wake up , don't worry we will do fine ." she said giving her a smile .

Ino returns that smile " Yeah we will I was just going over the plan in order to make sure that I don't miss anything ."

"Don't worry Ino we technically have 1 job and that too only in case we are exposed mostly it's up to those 3 . I am kind of offended by that to be honest but I can't help but be impressed that Naruto came up with this kind of a plan it's like he knew what will go down here ."

She develops an angry pout "And when did he became such a leader type anyways I kind of miss the goof that just rushed in shouting into any battle ."

Ino let out a giggle "I know right I thought for a second that it was Shikamaru's plan or something . Hmm well I guess daimyo did not make him a jounin for nothing ."

"Ya " Sakura sighed " I guess he has grown up "

"Oh he has grown up alright " Ino mumbles to herself remembering the bath house incident .

"What did you say pig ?"

"Huh what no nothing it's just –"

"Umm I think you should look ahead it could be our guy ." Sai intervened pointing forward . Ino and Sakura immediately look ahead to find a man fully covered in a cloak , he definitely looked like a spy .

Naruto gives a look to Kakashi and Yamato , the three share a nod as the guy waits on the bridge . Naruto makes a few hand signs to blow a gust of wind not strong enough to qualify as a futon jutsu but strong enough to look like a strong gust .

Wind blows along the bridge as Kabuto covers his face with his hands . It was now Kakashi's turn to come into action , he takes out a mini shuriken from his pouch , it was an extremely hard to spot this shuriken it was as thin as paper and much smaller in size. Kakashi takes aim and let it fly .

The shuriken strikes as it was easy to miss in all the debris flowing , it cuts a piece of Kabuto's cloak which flies towards Yamato who caught it with ease . This was the signal as all the three retreat .

As the group started to retreat Kabuto takes off his hood to reveal his face as Orochimaru steps out from the forest . "Looks like he is not coming Orochimaru sama . "

"Kabuto you did not notice , there was a chakra nearby that I detected but it was too big for Sasori , I think we should go back but keep an eye out for any followers ."

Naruto was very adamant about everyone hiding every peck of their chakra except for him he did not want Orochimaru to spot them and he was right .

"K..Kabuto and Orochimaru " Sakura stops retreating and balls up her fists in anger , Ino knew this could be dangerous she grabs her hand . "No Sakura not now , we need to retreat for now don't worry we will get those bastards in time ."

Sakura knows that she was right , she calmed herself down and followed Sai and Ino to the rendezvous point .

At the rendezvous point

The three jounins were waiting as the chunins of the group reached the point . Sakura had a clearly frustrated look on her .

"Well I certainly did not expect Kabuto to be the spy much less Orochimaru to be there , so I guess Naruto's hunch was correct indeed this was a trap for Sasori ." Kakashi speaks up

"Did you get it ?" Ino asks

"Yes" Yamato takes out the piece of cloth and gives it to Kakashi . During this time Sakura was looking at Naruto in confusion , she got so mad after seeing those two she could have only imagined how mad Naruto would've been , but he looked extremely calm even determined .

"Just how much have you grown in these years Naruto ?" she thought .

Kakashi bits his tongue and goes through the hand signs "Kuchiyosi no jutsu "

"What do you want now from me huh Kakashi ? Oh is that you Naruto hahaha you have certainly grown "

"Hi Pakkun yeah it's me alright but can we continue this later we need your help right now ."

"Yes Pakkun here register this smell we need to follow it but make sure not to get anywhere close." Kakashi hands pakkun the cloth as he takes a whiff " Okay got it follow me and try to keep up ."

After a few hours the group reached the hideout . Kakashi gathers the team for a briefing .

"Alright we do not know who or what we will find in that hideout but we know for sure that there is a high chance of running into Orochimaru and that is a situation I'd suggest to avoid as much as possible . Now to get an idea what we are into Sai send some of your ink creations to check out the topography and alo-"

"He is here ." said Naruto with as serious an expression as he could conjure .

"What was that Naruto ?" Kakashi asked

"Sasuke he is here somewhere I can sense him " everybody's eyes widened specially Sakura .

"N..Naruto are you sure h.. he is .. Sasuke kun is here ." Naruto looks into her eyes and nods.

"Naruto are you sure I don't think I sense Sasuke's chakra here ."

"I trust him , if Naruto says he is here then he is ." Sakura told Kakashi with a straight face

"So do I " said Ino

"Hmm well Kakashi now that you mention it I can sense a very feint smell of your brat down there , I couldn't have sensed that if I wasn't specifically looking for it ." said Pakkun

Kakashi sighs "Okay that makes things much more complicated alright listen up give me , Yamato and Naruto some time we need to come up with a new strategy in the meantime you three keep your eyes on the hideout do not miss a fly going in or out ."

Later that afternoon the Konoha squad begin their incursion of the hideout , Sai's reconnaissance has proved very helpful as they now knew that there was a maze down below , they had no choice but to keep searching , a lot of time was cut short because of Naruto's hundreds of Kage bunshins and Sai's ink creations who swarmed multiple parts of the maze as the squad stuck together in order to avoid a situation where they would be divided and run into Orochimaru .

"Found him " Sai said " He is sleeping , one of my mice found him there was also Kabuto in his room but I did not find Orochimaru ."

"Great job Sai lead us there fast before Orochimaru comes ."

The Konoha group reached the room that Sai led them towards , it was very quiet all around as they decided to smash the door and storm in , as soon as Sakura blew up the room everyone's eyes widened as the room was laced with paper bombs . "Duck!" shouted Kakashi as the bombs went off creating a massive hole in the hideout ( much bigger than the one in canon )

The smoke settled as the Konoha group opened their eyes to find them covered in a wooden dome . "Phew that was close wasn't it senpai " said Yamato as everyone thanked him , Yamato opens up his dome to see that they were 10 15 feet below the ground in the middle of a big hole created by the blast , as they protected their eyes to cover the sunshine they see two figures standing on the edge of the crater above .

"Well we have been waiting for you , to think Orochimaru sama leaves for some time and some vermins find their way in ." said Kabuto with a smirk but he was not taken into account as the eyes of the group were on the person next to him , all had a serious determined look over their faces except for Ino who was in a slight state of shock which was visible on her face , in spite of her recent revelations it was one thing to say it but standing in front of the man you loved all your life was not easy .The other person in a state of even bigger shock was Sakura .

"S..Sasuke ... kun"

Sasuke completely ignored her and kept his eyes fixed on Naruto , he had sensed him a while back but the man standing in front of him did not remind him of Naruto . No flashy clothes but in a grey cloak , not in a state of shock but serious as a rock . Something was not right but Sasuke could not put his finger on , it he did not expect Naruto to be the same as 3 years ago but this Naruto had a different sense to him like he was much older and had more experience and wisdom than he looked.

"You have changed Naruto ."

"So have you Sasuke."

"Well as emotional this team reunion is I am sorry Sasuke but I'll have to cut it short , we will be taking you back now you all can catch up on the way ." said Kakashi stepping forward .

Sasuke develops a smirk and faster than anyone except for Naruto and Kakashi could see he jumps down next to Naruto with his hand on his shoulder.

"He is faster than I thought " Kakashi thinks . Sakura and Ino were honestly taken aback by Sasuke's speed .

"Do you still think you can take me back to that stinking village huh Naruto ?"

"Now more than ever Sasuke."

"Come to think of it did you not want to become Hokage , shouldn't you have trained rather than wasting your time on me ."

"I have a lot of things to fix before I can even think of becoming Hokage Sasuke , and you are on top of that list ."

"Well I think you have to complete that list in your next life dobe" Sasuke draws his Katana and begins to drive it into Naruto but Naruto moves with at a blinding pace that was incomprehensible for Sasuke who had his Sharingan off. Naruto appeared behind Sasuke with his katana on Sasuke's neck .

"Enough now Sasuke come with us and we will talk ."

Sasuke smirks " Hmpf looks like you have trained , but you still lack Naruto you lack the power of hatred I know you can't kill me so drop the futile threats but I , I am not like you I am not weak " Sasuke smirks as he drives his sword behind him into Naruto's gut .

"Naruto! " Ino shouted as Naruto puffed into smoke.

Sasuke jumped back to the top as real Naruto emerges from behind a debris rock ."

"Sasuke kun please listen to Naruto and come with us we will help you with everything with your revenge with getting strong please Sasuke kun it's not too late ."

"Hn as irritating as ever ." Sasuke smirks

"Do you really think we will allow you to take Sasuke kun ?" Kabuto speaks up.

"You are two we are 6 we like our odds not so sure about you ." Yamato replies

"Oh I know we cannot defeat you all but he can ." As Kabuto says that a large python crawls its way next to Sasuke and Orochimaru comes out of his mouth .

"ku ku ku what do we have here Naruto kun long time no see my my you have certainly grown."

Naruto winces " Orochimaru " "well that makes things more complicated"

"Now what do I hear this commotion about you taking Sasuke kun back , he is here on his own wishes Naruto kun you should really understand that ."

"Enough Orochimaru stay out of this I will finish them right now ." said Sasuke as he raises his hands .

"Now now calm down Sasuke kun there is no need to kill them they will help us get rid of some Akatsuki." Orochimaru intervened stopping Sasuke .

"What kind of a stupid reason is that ?"

"No Sasuke you are right." Naruto says stepping ahead.

"I agree I say we fight it out right here right now I told you I have things to fix , I don't have time to keep chasing your shadow . You came to this snake to get strong enough to kill Itachi right , well you and I both know that I am no match to Itachi so what say try out your freaky training on me let's see whether this guy can even deliver the power he promised you after all if you can't beat me , you should definitely forget about your revenge ."

Sasuke winced at that remark ."Alright but not here there are too many distractions , follow me ." Sasuke turns around towards the jungle and starts walking .

"Naruto that is not a good idea we don't know how strong Sasuke is , stick together we have the numbers advantage we will handle them one by one ." Kakashi stops Naruto by placing a hand on his shoulder.

"No sensei this is the only way and you know that just trust me and let me do this ,I need to do it." Kakashi sighs and takes his hand off him.

Ino is having a bad feeling about this whole thing , there was something radiating from Sasuke , a bad vibe that has been bothering her "Naruto " she says as he turns around .

"yeah ?"

"please be careful ." Ino said with a worried face as Naruto responds with a smile " Don't worry Ino I've got this ." Naruto jumps out of the crater and follows Sasuke into the forest leaving the rest behind .

The remaining Konoha nins jump up to confront Orochimaru and Kabuto .

"And where do you think you are going ?" asked Kabuto .

"To help Naruto you dumb fuck ." Ino replied .

"ha ha ha so much vile young Yamanaka kun , but do you think we would let you pass that easily?"

As Kabuto said that, he created his chakra blade around his hands and rushed towards the group

"Sakura , Ino take him we will take Orochimaru ." Kakashi said as the group separated in two sections a few metres apart , Ino and Sakura taking on Kabuto while Kakashi Sai and Yamato ran away with Orochimaru to put some distance between 2 groups and have their fight .

"Its been a while since I have had a good fight hope you don't disappoint me Kakashi kun ." Orochimaru says as he licks his lips .

"Tenzo"

"Hai senpai " Yamato launches beams of wood at Orochimaru who dodges them with ease , only to find multiple fire balls from Kakashi . Orochimaru responded by firing a water canon jutsu to nullify it creating a cloud of steam .

When cloud cleared a big ink eagle flew at Orochimaru "Kids" he mumbles as he fires multiple snakes at the eagle crushing it under their bindings smearing the ink all over the field .

"Kakashi kun are you really going to bore me like that so much for the great Sharingan Kakashi ." as Orochimaru said this his smile faded when he realised that he could not move , his feet were stuck in the ink which was as he now realised made out of sticky ink .

"Crafty" he thought as Kakashi activates hi Mangekyo and fires at him " Kamui!" . A warp begins to appear around Orochimaru's head but he moves his shoulder there just in time.

Orochimaru's shoulder gets deleted out of existence as blood pours out and his now detached hands fall off. For a second Sai and Yamato and even Kakashi thought that there combo worked when they heard Orochimaru chuckle .

"ha ha ha now do you understand why I so dearly desire the sharingan Kakashi kun , it is a magnificent work of art ." as he said that Orochimaru opened his mouth wide and out came another Orochimaru fully recovered.

All three shinobis were sweating nervously seeing that , what do they do to defeat him " Calm down keep on your guards up we will keep attacking and try to find a weakness" Kakashi said still panting from the use of Mangekyo but he as well as his partners got into the fighting stance, this was going to a difficult affair.

A few metres away Sakura and Ino have been combining their attacks trying to get through Kabuto , Ino has been mixing smoke bombs with paper tags and kunais to always keep Kabuto off his feet as Sakura kept on guard for small windows to attack him with her brute strength . Kabuto having more foresight and dexterity due to experience was fending these attacks as Sakura mostly landed on ground or trees as shown by many craters around but still Ino and Sakura had great teamwork which had kept Kabuto on the defensive although both were not going all out either , they knew if they got in range of Kabuto he will surely chop their limbs off.

"I must say you two are better than you appear ." said Kabuto smirking and catching his breath " Isn't it beautiful three Konoha medics showing off their battle skills Tsunade sama would be so proud "

Sakura was pissed off at this "Dont you fucking utter shishou's name from your dirty mouth you freak and never claim your connection with Konoha in front of me again ."

Kabuto was about to reply with some smart remark but was stopped as they heard a massive explosion . All three turned their heads towards the forest as they saw a massive fire tornado appear for a few seconds at a distance . The three had to cover their heads to protect from the broken tree branches and other debris that came flying with the hot air of the shockwave .

"Naruto" Ino said worried , looking at the direction of the blast .

A few minutes ago

Sasuke stopped at an opening inside the forest as did Naruto who was following him .

"This isn't necessary Sasuke ."

"Then get out of here and take your pests with you , as much as I would love a workout I will gain nothing from killing you , even if that life is behind me now for old times sakes I am willing to let you leave if you chose to right now ."

Naruto smiled at him " You know I am not leaving without you ."

"Dont tell me I did not offer you a chance." Sasuke takes out his katana in a flash and blitzes Naruto who defended the blade inches from his face by taking out his own in a loud clash of metal.

The two separated and rushed at each other and thus began a high quality kenjutsu duel . One after the other they kept making strikes at each other only to cancel each other's out , the made high difficulty strikes even at some vital points which were made mostly by Sasuke but neither could make even a single land . The sounds of clashing metal reverberated throughout the forest as Naruto finally started to get the upper hand , being taught by one of the greatest kenjutsu specialist had its perks .

Sasuke was getting pushed by high level combos by Naruto , he had no choice but to activate his Sharingan to read his movements better as he also covered his sword with blue lightning . Naruto responded by activating his purple lightning chakra . The sword duel continued for some more time but any onlookers would have been treated to a magnificent sight , 2 blue and purple flashes moving so fast that apart from the trail of lights they weren't even perceivable, moving around and clashing with each other leaving sparks of lightning flowing when they collide with voice of clashing metal and electric sparks .

Naruto finally gets the decisive blow as he locks Sasuke's sword long enough to kick his hands sending his sword flying . He stares at Sasuke but did not attack further , Sasuke uses this window to jump back while casting a genjustu on Naruto . Kurama instantly snaps Naruto out of it but he woke up seeing a kunai flying towards his heart , he just has enough time to move but the kunai buried itself in his stomach .

Naruto drops to his knees as he takes the kunai out letting the blood gush out " Dammit teme you really are trying to kill me huh ."

"I told you don't say I didn't warn you now die old firend " Sasuke rushed with a chidori knowing well that this is it as Naruto had no time to summon a bunshin for a rasengan being on his knees . To his surprise Naruto instantly made a rasengan in one hand and the two clashed just like their younger days . A big explosion followed as their jutsus cancelled each other out .

"Alright Sasuke you want to do it the hard way then so be it " Naruto summoned a clone and made a rasengan with one hand .

"Why is he summoning a bunshin i thought he did not need them for Rasengan... wait its not a normal Rasengan ."

Naruto made a rasenshuriken big enough to severly damage Sasuke but not strong enough to kill him and chucked it at him but Sasuke had thought something might happen and was collecting chakra to pool it to make a massive fireball

"Futon : Rasenshuriken "

"Katon : Gokakyu no jutsu "

A massive fireball met the rasenshuriken cancelling each other out but the mixture gave rise to a massive fire tornado and a gigantic explosion .

When things settled the two shinobis got to their feet after some struggle . Both had tanked the explosion directly . Sasuke had burns all over his right arm and chest and landed heavily bleeding from the head and mouth . Naruto was in the same condition his cloak was almost burned off along with half his tshirt he too suffered some burns and some cracks in his ribs .

"Sasuke " breathing in between words Naruto spoke up " please ... end this ...madness ."

"YOU...YOU... BASTARD!" Sasuke shouts as he rushed Naruto . The two now exchanged several blows in taijutsu spar even injuring each other even badly . Sasuke threw some paper tags which Naruto dodged by jumping , when in air Sasuke fired multiple "Katon housenka no jutsu" at Naruto which he kept evading by using multiple Kage bunshins who threw him out of the way .

Naruto landed a little away from Sasuke both panting and bleeding from the explosion as well as multiple kicks and punches thrown at each other . Naruto planned his next move when he saw Sasuke smirking as he jumped on top of a nearby tree .

His fireballs and the heat from the massive explosion had brought dark clouds over them and now Sasuke stood on top of a tree smirking as Naruto just realised how much electric discharge he could feel in the atmosphere right now . "This is bad .. this is very bad" he thought .

"You have improved Naruto I must agree but this ends here , Ill make sure to tell everyone how bravely you fought here today ." saying that Sasuke raised his hand in the air as thunder and lightning kept roaring through the sky.

At a distance Kakashi Sai and Yamato have been fighting Orochimaru for a long time spamming combos one after the other to no good use , he was the legendary sannin after all . They saw the large looming clouds and lightning over the forest as Orochimaru chuckled "kukuku that kid is reckless as ever to use this jutsu , well I must say Naruto kun could have been a good shinobi ." Kakashi did not like the sound of that being a lightning user he could feel the electricity in the air , he had a bad feeling about this and was very worried about Naruto right now.

"Oh my looks like you wont be getting chance to say goodbye to Naruto kun after all how sad ." Kabuto chuckles . Ino was really worried at this point even Sakura had tensed look on her face "Naruto please be all right." Ino thought clenching her chest .

"Naruto fast you have to run this is not good at all forget about that brat he will kill you if you stay here." Kurama spoke up

"Dont you feel how much electricity is here I can never run from it ... wait electricity " Naruto thought as Jiraiya's elemental class's memory came to his mind . "Kurama give me all the chakra you can without overloading my body "

"Naruto you don't have time to make that jutsu ."

"I don't need it as strong as the one against Sasori I am not here to kill Sasuke I just need to nullify his jutsu with all your chakra I might cut it in time."

"Your body is not ready"

"We don't have time just send me the max you can otherwise we are both toast."

Naruto clapped his hands together and let out a loud yell "AAAAAHHHHH" . Red chakra started surrounding his body and parts of his body flashed on and off into a bright yellow colour .

(A/N : If anyone has seen filler arc power or chikara , Naruto is in that early state where he was kind of almost touching KCM stage but not in it kept flashing on and off kind off and No he is nowhere close to KCM power just included that cause it looked cool he is more like towards momentary close to 4 tail level but just for a minute which helped him speed up the jutsu not make it more stronger infact it is weaker than the one with Sasori which was to kill)

A massive red tornado formed around him very quickly this time as Sasuke dropped his hands towards him

"KIRIN"

"FUTON : SHINKU TAIFU (Wind style : crimson typhoon)"

A loud bang of thunder was followed by a majestic lightning dragon that fell from the cloud like Thor's fury flew towards Naruto , Naruto had created another massive blood red tornado that shook the earth uprooting the very soil and the forest nearby that shot towards Sasuke.

The two jutsus met midway that collided in the middle as the dragon and the tornado clashed to overpower each other , after that a massive explosion occurred much bigger than the first one that obliterated the entire section of the forest.

Some distance away a couple of minutes ago

Orochimaru had all three shinobis who were drained at this point inside the grips of three snakes that shot out of his armes . "So should I kill you or let you go ." just then the snakes retracted as he dropped down on the floor coughing a lot of blood . "Damn it this body cant no longer hold me , I fight and I am already feeling so weak … no … I need Sasuke soon …. I need him right now ."

The three shinobis stood up as they cheked their necks and caught their breaths being almost chocked but were surprised to see that Orochimaru was in a worse condition , nearby the three medics were still in stalemate when the ground started to shake and they heard a deafening noise .

All 7 heads turned to a massive lightning dragon that shot down from the sky and a gigantic red tornado that seemed to meet it at the horizon , what followed was a deafening noise and a massive explosion whose shockwave was much bigger the entire trees were uprooted and came flying . Ino and Sakura were blew back a few feet as all were shocked of what they had just witnessed.

"No No I cannot sense Sasuke kun " Orochimaru's eyes widened in horror but he first needed to escape as his body could not fight any more . Seeing everyone was distracted he put all his strength in and summoned a big snake not as big as manda but big enough to swallow him and Kabuto before poofing away .

The konoha shinobis saw Orochimaru and Kabuto escape but that was the least of their worries , they ran towards the root of that explosion .

When they reached they found a massive area bigger than a training ground leveled and two shinobis that lay on the opposite end of it . The group spotted Naruto and rushed to him first . His entire upper body was now exposed , he was bleeding from multiple areas and had burn marks but was till conscious .

"Naruto" Ino came rushing to him with a tear in her eyes , she immediately dropped to her knees and started healing him and was almost joined by Sakura but Naruto put his left hand up which still had bones intact and pointed towards Sasuke . "No….. Sakura chan …..first…. Sasuke ."

Sakura got the message as she turned and ran towards Sasuke who lied unconscious , from the surface looked like he was in similar condition to Naruto .

"What happened ?" asked Kakashi who could barely speak looking at the destruction caused by his students .

Naruto smirked" What do you think sensei "

"Sasuke took the worse of the explosion just as the jutsu cancelled mine overpowered his sending the explosion more in his direction I just hope he is allri – " he winced in pain before he could complete

Ino who was trying hard to hold her tears seeing Naruto's condition and snapped at him . "Could you shut up for a minute ugggh god Naruto look at you and you are still worried for him more ." Naruto just smiled at her.

Naruto sat up when Ino was done and slowly stood up with the help of Yamato and Kakashi as Sakura came back .

"How are you sit down let me check "

"Its fine Sakura chan Ino did a great job Im fine" Ino blushed at the complement she honestly wouldn't mind Sakura rechecking him for internal injury she was the expert after all but was also flattered at Naruto's confidence in her . " Forget about me how is Sasuke ."

"I have stabilized him he had multiple fractures , burns , broken ribs , broken arms and Kami knows what else ." She always hated this to her gut when Naruto and Sasuke did this to each other " He is unconscious right now with the extent of his injuries I doubt he will be conscious for a while we need to get him to a hospital as soon as possible ."

"Sensei I can stand now please take Sasuke we need to go back Yamato taichou can help me ."

As Naruto said Kakashi and Sai went to take Sasuke , Naruto spotted Sakura with tears and limped his way to her and cupped her head in his hands " Sakura chan don't be sad its what we waited for , we will finally get him home ."

She now could not hold her tears and smiled as she hugged Naruto " Ouch still hurts bones ouch "

She blushed in embarrassment as she lets go off him " Oh kami Im sorry Naruto"
