AN: I just want to make it clear that, if there is any problem in how Naruto fights, I apologize.
"AAAHHH!" shouted Naruto.
A moment ago he was in a room sorting through files as Tsunade had asked him to do, but during the process, he found a very old scroll and the next moment, it was falling from the sky.
"Kurama, do something!" shouted Naruto flapping his arms like a bird.
"Yes, I'll call an ambulance… What are you supposed to want me to do?" asked Kurama.
"Something to keep me from ending up as a postage stamp!" said Naruto.
"You're a ninja! Use some of your techniques!" said Kurama.
"Wait. I got it!" said Naruto with a smile before making a symbol with his hands. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!" shouted Naruto causing a clone of him to appear next to him.
"Here we go!" said the Naruto clone before grabbing the original. "Uzumaki Throw!" shouted the Naruto clone doing a merry-go-round spin before throwing the original to the side.
Naruto shot into the air until he managed to land, very hard, on the roof of a building. He bounced a bit and crawled across the surface before coming to a stop.
"I need to improve my landings." groaned Naruto with his face pressed to the surface.
"Well, they say a landing where you survive is a good landing." said Kurama.
"Whoever said that surely didn't experience a landing in person." said Naruto getting up.
It was then that he took in the scenery around him and was completely blown away. He was in a city that looked far more advanced than any hidden village or town he had ever seen. Strange ships were flying over the city. But what he noticed most about that city were two things. One was a statue of a boy holding a staff in the middle of the ocean and another was a huge column of light reaching into the sky.
"Whoa. Where are we?" asked Naruto.
"I'm not quite sure, but I can tell you for sure that we're not in any of the elemental countries anymore." said Kurama.
"You mean we're somewhere far away from the nations?" asked Naruto.
"No. I think we are no longer in our world to begin with." said Kurama.
"What? Why do you say that?" asked Naruto surprised and confused by what the bijuu was saying.
"Look around you, brat. You too can feel that, all around you, there is no chakra at all." said Kurama.
"Yeah, now that you say that, it's true. In fact, it feels like chakra, but different." said Naruto believing the bijuu's words before crossing his arms. "Great, so now what do we do?"
"This is what you get for being too curious." said Kurama.
"Hey, how was I supposed to know that a simple scroll would do something like this?" asked Naruto.
"Yes, but this wouldn't have happened if you had listened to me." said Kurama.
"Well, whatever. They'll most likely find out I'm gone and look for me." said Naruto.
"You're right. It's only a matter of time before they find us." said Kurama.
"So what do I do in the meantime? I'm not sure if the money I have is worth in this place and I don't know anything about this city." said Naruto.
"I have an idea. We could go to the east." said Kurama.
"East? Why?" asked Naruto with confusion.
"I feel that there is a great concentration of energy there very similar to that column of light." said Kurama.
"Well then, I'll take your word for it. East be it said!" said Naruto starting to walk in one direction.
"It's the other way, you idiot!" said Kurama correcting the ninja who laughed nervously.
"Hihihi. Sorry." said Naruto before turning around to go in the right direction.
Meanwhile, near the city was an island with a temple on it. In a small corner, stood Avatar Korra. Things had calmed down since Tokuga was arrested, so she took a moment to relax and meditate quietly in a small meditation temple.
Suddenly, however, she felt something that caused her eyes to widen in horror as she let out a gasp.
"Korra?" the Avatar turned her head back to see her girlfriend Asami Sato looking at her with slight concern. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, relax, I'm fine." began Korra getting up and turning to look at the engineer. "But I felt something very strange all of a sudden."
"Strange? What do you mean?" asked Asami with an arched eyebrow.
"It was almost like a spirit, but it felt very different. It felt more powerful, bigger and most of all, darker." said Korra.
"You mean there's a dark spirit roaming the city? If so, don't you think we would have noticed some chaos and destruction?" asked Asami remembering her experience with dark spirits.
"Maybe, but I'd better go check it out." said Korra.
"Then, I'll go with you." said Asami.
"No, it could be dangerous." said Korra trying to protect her girlfriend.
"In case you forgot, I'm tougher than I look. Besides I plan on going with you whether you want me to or not." said Asami crossing her arms.
"Sometimes you're a little stubborn." said Korra before giving the engineer a smile. "But that's one of the things I like about you."
"Well, I've learned from the best." said Asami before the two shared a sweet smile. "By the way, should we warn Mako and Bolin?"
"At the moment we don't know what it's about. So we'll look into it and if it's something really serious, we'll call them." said Korra.
"Sounds good to me." said Asami before the two girlfriends were about to leave for their research mission.
For the past few hours, Naruto had been walking through the city in the direction of the place the bijuu indicated. As he walked along, the ninja couldn't help but stand in awe of what was around him.
"Wow. This place is so much more advanced than any village. I wonder what the ramen in this city is like." thought Naruto.
"Is that really what you're worried about right now? You're stupider than I thought." said Kurama.
"What's wrong with thinking a little about food? I need a way to survive in this world if I have to wait for them to find me. By the way, how long until we get to that place you talked about?" thought Naruto.
"It's not much farther. In fact, we should be close by now." said Kurama.
Finally, after a while longer walking, he came to an area that seemed to be completely covered in roots and vines.
"Wow. What happened here? Did the forest decide to attack the city or something?" asked Naruto surprised by the scenery in front of him.
"Stay alert. I sense a lot of non-human presences out there." said Kurama.
"Who's out there?"
Naruto jumped back and took a defensive stance in case what he had spoken was hostile.
To his surprise, what had spoken was some sort of eel-like creature, but with a bird's beak.
"Who are you?" asked the dragon eel spirit.
"Uh... I'm Naruto Uzumaki." said Naruto introducing himself as he was very surprised, as he had never seen a creature like he before.
The dragon eel spirit came closer until he had his face in front of the ninja who got a little nervous.
"Mmm. You look like a human, but I sense that there is something inside you. Something powerful." said the dragon eel spirit.
"What? How does that creature know about you?" asked Naruto in his mind.
"I don't know. It's probably able to detect me, since I also feel that creature is similar to me." said Kurama.
"Similar to you. How is that?" asked Naruto.
"Again, I don't know. Maybe we can get answers from him." said Kurama.
"Well, what is it that you have inside you, human?" asked the dragon eel spirit squinting suspiciously.
"It's..." began Naruto before agreeing with the bijuu that this spirit was the only one who could give him an answer as to where he was, even if he had to reveal too much to do so. "It's a bijuu. A hulking being made from chakra that was sealed inside me."
"Bijuu? I've never heard of anything like that." said the dragon eel spirit.
"Yeah, well..." began Naruto before rubbing the back of his head. "Maybe it's because I don't come from this world."
"Do you come from the spirit world?" asked the dragon eel spirit.
"Spirit world?" asked Naruto in his mind.
"He must be referring to that column of light we saw. I think it is a portal that connects to that world he just mentioned." said Kurama.
"No, I don't come from that spirit world you mention, but from a different one." said Naruto.
"I see. Although to tell you the truth, with that being inside you, one would think you are like the Avatar." said the dragon eel spirit.
"The Avatar?" asked Naruto.
"I guess it's understandable that you wouldn't know that if you came from another world." said the dragon eel spirit.
"That's what I wanted to mention. I've only recently arrived and I don't know anything about this world. I was hoping you could help me." said Naruto.
"Okay, but I hope you and that being inside you won't cause trouble for the spirits." said the dragon eel spirit.
"Don't worry. I won't cause any trouble." said Naruto.
"If I were given a coin every time I heard that from you, I would have a temple made of those coins." said Kurama with an expressionless face.
"Shut up, Kurama." thought Naruto.
"In this world, there are certain humans known as benders, who are able to manipulate one of the four elements. Earth, fire, air and water." said the dragon eel spirit.
"So those benders are like ninjas who can use elemental jutsus." thought Naruto.
"Yes, but unlike ninjas, a bender can manipulate only one element while a ninja is able to manipulate two elements or more." said Kurama.
"Not to mention special jutsus like Shikamaru's, Choji's and Ino's." thought Naruto remembering the hidden jutsus of his friends.
"However, among all humans is the Avatar, the only person who can manipulate the four elements and possesses the duty to bring balance to the world." said the dragon eel spirit continuing with the explanation.
"Really? Wow, sounds like someone very powerful." said Naruto.
"It is, human. And besides, when an Avatar dies, it is reincarnated in an endless cycle of reincarnation." said the dragon eel spirit.
"Wait, so the Avatar is immortal?!" asked Naruto very surprised.
"No. He said that the Avatar is reincarnated into another person after his death. It's like you and Sasuke being the incarnations of Hashirama and Madara, just as they were the incarnations of Hagoromo's sons." said Kurama remembering the story of the sons of the man who created him.
"Ah, yes. That's true." said Naruto remembering it as well. "But how is it possible for a person to have such an ability?" asked Naruto to the spirit.
"That is because the Avatar possesses within him Raava, the spirit of light and order." said the dragon eel spirit.
"He possesses a spirit within him? Put like that, the Avatar sounds like a jinchuriki." said Naruto in his mental space.
"Now that you mention it, when we got here, I felt a presence a bit similar to yours and that Cloud ninja." said Kurama.
"What? Surely, that was the Avatar! Why didn't you say so before?" asked Naruto.
"Because back then I didn't know what it was." said Kurama.
"Wait, if she's the most powerful in this world, then maybe she could help us." said Naruto with a smile and a plan in mind.
"Are you sure she will help us?" asked Kurama.
"Of course she will. Trust me. I know what I'm doing." said Naruto.
"That's why I ask." said Kurama receiving a frown from the ninja.
"Well, I guess that's enough information. Thank you very much for that." said Naruto bowing in thanks.
"You're welcome." said the dragon eel spirit before proceeding to leave.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" asked Kurama.
"Wait." said Naruto causing the spirit to stop. "By any chance do you know what the current Avatar's name is or where he is." said Naruto with a nervous smile.
"How were you planning to find the Avatar if you know absolutely nothing?" asked Kurama rhetorically, as he knew the ninja very well.
"If you're looking for the Avatar, she's usually around city and answers to the name Avatar Korra." said the dragon eel spirit.
"I see. Thanks anyway." said Naruto before the spirit left.
"I guess now it's time to look for the Avatar." said Kurama.
"You said so and don't worry. I'm sure we'll find her before the day is out." said Naruto.
The sun was setting on the horizon, signaling the end of the day.
Korra and Asami had been inspecting the entire city for that dark spirit the Avatar had sensed earlier, they had even asked a few people to see if they had seen or noticed anything out of the ordinary, but so far, they had found nothing.
"Are you sure it's somewhere in the city? We've been looking for hours." said Asami.
"I can feel it, it's here. But maybe you're right. It's already getting late. We'd better go back and continue the search tomorrow." said Korra.
"By the way. You've noticed it too, haven't you?" asked Asami quietly.
"Yes, that man has been following us for quite a while." said Korra without looking back where a person in a trench coat and hat was stealthily following them.
"I don't think he's a fan or he would have stopped us before." said Asami.
"What do we do?" asked Korra.
"Let's go ahead and try to catch him off guard." said Asami before the two women advanced the pace.
The person following them picked up the pace as well, but not too much so they wouldn't get suspicious, though they had already noticed.
They kept walking until they turned a corner. Their pursuer turned that corner, but in the next instant, Asami grabbed him by the collar of his trench coat, pushed him against the wall and brought her electrified gauntlet close to his face.
"All right, little buddy. You better tell us why you were following us." said Asami demanding answers.
Suddenly, the pursuer began to laugh.
"What's so funny?" asked Korra.
"You think you've caught me, but actually, I've caught you!" said the pursuer before letting out a hiss.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake heavily, causing the two women to stagger backwards. Before they could think of anything, several thick walls of earth emerged from the ground until they formed a barrier in a circular shape, with the two women and the pursuer inside.
After that, six armored men stepped over the barrier and stood beside the pursuer, who removed his trench coat and hat to reveal himself to be another armored man.
"It's a trap!" exclaimed Korra realizing what was happening.
"Who the hell are you people?" asked Asami.
"Who we are doesn't matter now. What should matter to you is whether you're going to get out of here alive." said the pursuer before the two women moved into a fighting stance.
"We're not going down that easily." said Korra.
"Oh, I know that all too well, Avatar. That's why we came prepared." said the pursuer before he and the other men pulled a syringe with a green liquid inside from a pocket.
Before they could ask, all the armored men stuck the syringe in their arm before injecting its contents. That caused the men to start moaning as they squirmed a little.
A few seconds later, the men stopped moaning and writhing and calmly stood up while keeping their gazes on the two women.
"What... What have you done?" asked Korra with slight concern.
"You'll find out soon enough. Attack!" shouted the pursuer before he and the other men launched into an attack.
Korra started with a powerful fireball, but the men scattered to dodge the attack.
One man stomped, causing huge stalagmites to erupt from the ground in the Avatar's direction, but she used airbending to bypass the attack and while in mid-air, ripped a chunk out of a stalagmite before throwing it back at the man, knocking him down in the process.
Quickly, Korra used the water in her canteen to squirt two men and trap them in the wall by turning the water to ice.
She thought she had the upper hand, until then, the man she had knocked down was rising from the ground and the two men she had trapped in ice managed to free themselves with their own strength.
Needless to say, Korra was surprised by that.
The three men lifted several rocks which they then hurled towards the Avatar, who quickly erected a rock wall to protect herself from the incoming rocks, but then, one man managed to smash through the wall with his own fist, much to the shock of the Avatar who threw a blast of wind to push the man back.
Meanwhile, Asami was in hand-to-hand combat with one of the men who managed to block and dodge every blow from the engineer, much to her surprise. When she found an opening, she struck him with her electrified gauntlet, making him groan in pain, but then, despite the electricity coursing through his body, the man raised his fist and punched Asami in the face.
Before Asami could process what had just happened, another man approached her from behind, but Asami managed to duck to the side before proceeding to kick him horizontally in the head, but the man was able to block the kick with his arm and before she could react, the man grabbed her leg and threw her over his shoulder.
Fortunately, Asami was able to stand up quickly, but then, another man used earthbending to trip her before erecting a pillar from the ground with which he hit her in the stomach.
"Asami!" exclaimed Korra at the sight of her girlfriend's plight before turning a withering glare on the men. "Let her go! It's me you want!"
"True, but unfortunately, we don't want any witnesses!" said the pursuer before launching a pair of earthen pillars.
Korra dodged one and jumped over the other before running over it to head towards the pursuer. Once she was close enough, she jumped up and tried to hit him with a fire-wrapped axe kick, but the pursuer wrapped his arms with rocks and used them as a shield for the Avatar's attack.
Before Korra could react, the pursuer exploded the rocks from his arms, using them as shrapnel that struck the Avatar and knocked her down in the process. Korra quickly got up, only to find herself surrounded by four men.
Using waterbending, Korra created a water whip with which she attempted to strike the men, but they were able to dodge the lashes or quickly use rocks to block them.
Korra then turned the water whip into several icicles of ice which she threw at the men, but they quickly erected a wall to block them. However, Korra expected that and used earthbending to bring the walls down on themselves.
But then, shortly after, they all stood up even though their armor was showing scratches and tatters, leaving the Avatar a bit surprised.
Asami had to recover from the blow to her stomach when she noticed a man throwing stalactites at her like bullets, but she managed to dodge them, although some stalactite grazed her a bit, making cuts on her clothes, but nothing too serious.
She then proceeded to charge towards the man and give him several punches and kicks before hitting him with her electrified gauntlet, but before she could touch him, the man reared back, grabbed her wrist and gave her a side kick that knocked her down.
Before the engineer could get up, another man buried her hands and legs, preventing her from being able to move.
Korra wanted to go help her girlfriend, but she was too busy at the moment.
She started throwing several fireballs from fists and feet, but the men dodged it as they charged towards her. She tried to stop them with a wave of wind, but two of them jumped on the attack as they lifted a couple of rocks and, while in the air, hurled them directly at the Avatar, who erected a wall of earth to block it before splitting it into several pieces which she hurled towards the men, knocking them down in the process.
Korra let out a couple of gasps due to the effort she put into that battle, but then, a pillar shot up underneath her, sending her upwards and before she could react, the pursuer used a pillar of earth to propel himself to her height and kick her in the stomach that sent her to the ground, right next to the engineer.
"Korra!" shouted Asami as she saw her girlfriend lying on the ground face up and with several wounds.
Korra tried to get up, but then, earthen clamps formed on her arms, legs and stomach, preventing her from moving.
The two women looked up to see the pursuer and the rest of the men standing in front of them.
"Honestly, I expected more from the mighty Avatar." said the pursuer.
"Who are you, what do you want?" asked Korra wanting answers.
"All I can tell you is that we are following the orders of someone who will soon do what should have been done." said the pursuer, confusing the two women a bit. "Now, let's get this over with."
The pursuer and the other men positioned themselves to make a move that would end the lives of the two women.
Korra and Asami stood wide-eyed in horror, hoping for some miracle that would save them.
"EY!"
At that shout, the men broke their stance and turned their gaze to the top of a building, where they saw a blond teenage boy wearing orange and black overalls, his arms crossed and a grin on his face.
"Mind if I join the party?" asked Naruto.
