"Still blaming you for this." Snippily, Sayako huffs.
"It ain't my fault." Fuming, Katsuki yells at her.
"Can't you keep your mouth shut?" Sharply, she snaps at him.
"Can't you!?" She demands from him as the two continue climbing oblivious to the struggling Midoriya and others…
"I can't…feel my legs. Todo if I don't make it…tell Aizawa I fucking hate him." Sayako groans as she is held up piggyback style as they exit out of the training session from another study session after another beat down by Gang Orca, Sayako like a koala draped over the poker-faced Shoto as they leave the centre, Katsuki scowling at the two. A part of him baffled to see the two in such a peculiar position.
"I'm not doing that." Tiredly, Shoto sighs staring ahead as they approach the bus.
"Don't be so dramatic dumb…" Katsuki begins but soon falters.
"Katsuki? Shoto?" Sayako furrows her brow befuddled when noting her friend having stopped as well.
"The hell is your old man doing here?" Katsuki questions alerting Sayako peering over Todoroki's shoulder seeing said man leant against the car, a grim grave look on his furrowed features.
"Wait…what?" Sayako slides off of Shoto sending a look of clear confusion to them both before approaching her father almost waiting for her…
"Dad?" Frowning, Sayako blinks befuddled as turns to stare stunned at the firm frown of her father, a grim grave look upon his news as he delivers the news and next thing Sayako knew…she was running.
"Dad what's going on?" Lost, Sayako furrows her brow as she is welcomed back to a familiar setting, squirming from the stench of bleach hanging heavily in the air as she feels her body tense, ignoring the sharp sting to her arm as she slowly scarily follows after her father's long strides, finding the still silence coming from the normally nervous wreck of a man not exactly helping matters in her state.
"Sayako sweetie just…just be ready okay?" Surprised, she raises a brow when he suddenly stops turning on his heel placing his hands on her shoulders staring directly into her eyes, his browns gazing into her greens.
"Ready for what?" Lost, she furrows her brow by the faint flicker of blue from hi hues however it soon dims down back into their brown hazelish pair.
"Nighteye had an accident." Gravely, he reveals to Sayako her heart dropping dread coursing through her.
"No…wait what about Mirio is he…?" Worriedly, Sayako questions.
"He's…fine for the condition he is in." Kazz mutters making Sayako flinch from the phrasing.
"For the condition…!? The hell does that mean!?" Mystified, Sayako demands from her father fuming.
"Sweetie…Nighteye…He…he doesn't have long." Kazz crosses his arms over his chest cross.
"You're shitting me." Sayako takes a shaky step back befuddled.
"Just be careful okay? This is difficult for us all." Sighing, Kazz tries to reason with her daughter.
"I know…" Shakily, Sayako sighs bowing her head as they enter the room.
"There's nothing more we can do it's a miracle he survived this long." Honestly, Kazz confesses.
"My healing can't help him either he's too far gone to be saved." Recovery girl steps forward sadly sighing.
"I'm sorry you should prepare yourselves. I don't think he'll live to see tomorrow." Truthfully, Kazz confesses.
"I understand you did the best you could." Sayako sighs shakily trying to keep her composure.
"Sayako! Sir he…!" Pained, Bubblegirl begins sobbing, sniffling.
"…I know." Sighing, she bows her head mentally preparing herself for it as she enters the room being greeted by the beep of the heart monitor and the sight of her mentor having implements impaled all over his torso on his death bed.
"I'm so sorry." All Might whispers bowing his head staring sadly down at his ex-sidekick.
"Is that you…All Might? You feel like talking now that I'm on my deathbed." Hoarsely, he whispers weakly looking up at All Might.
"I don't know what to say. I was wrong. I pushed you away and…" Anguished, All Might exclaims.
"Nighteye hang in there you have to live!" Midoriya tells him.
"I never heard you sound so penetrative before All Might but I didn't resent you for what happened between us I mean that all I wanted was for you to be happy and if you've decided to fight fate then I…" Sadly, Sir Nighteye smiles solemnly up at his old friend.
"You should be fighting it too please give me a chance to make up for what I've done." Desperate, All Might begs but…
"There's nothing to make up for." Sir Nighteye exclaims.
"Sayako…" Midoriya's hues expand at the sheer sight of the blonde perking up at the door sliding open.
"Midoriya. All Might." Stoically, she acknowledges the two.
"Sayako I'm…" Midoriya begins but…
"Don't. Just don't." Drained, she raises her hand up swiftly silencing them.
"That voice…Sayako you made it." Shyly, Sir Nighteye smiles up at the girl.
"Sorry for the wait sir." Strained, she smiles down at him.
"You…you got the arm on." Nighteye takes note of said prosthetic.
"Y-Yeah…it was a real pain at first but I managed." Meekly, Sayako smiles sadly.
"I'm…glad." Sir Nighteye says softly relieved almost at it.
"Sir…I'm…I'm so sorry…" Sayako sighs sadly bowing her head pained.
"What for?" Confused, Nighteye ponders perplexed.
"If I hadn't failed if I had been stronger, if I had just gotten my shit together sooner I could have passed the exam I could have helped you I could have…!" Upset, Sayako whispers her voice cracking breaking wincing whimpering.
"Sayako…this isn't your fault." Firmly, Nighteye assures her but…
"But it is…! If I had just been there, I could have…my quirk could have saved you or…or…" Panicked, Sayako slams her eyes shut.
"I wanted to change the future to keep you from being killed. Heh I looked at ways to alter the fate I had seen I tried but there was nothing I could do. But then today that hero, she…she succeeded where I failed." Nighteye closes his eyes eerily at peace.
"She…?" Sayako whispers brow furrowed from his words unaware that a few rooms away rested a certain brunette, her scarlets slammed shut the IV pumping into her as a certain blonde sat by her side, his wings drooped down almost shielding her away from others. He briefly brushes his fingertips through her disheveled brown locks, looking worriedly down at the bedridden woman before him. One of the nurses nearby swore she heard despite hearing the beep of the heart monitor she heard some sort of humming or purring, some strange sound emitting from his throat, nuzzling into her side. She seemingly leans in while drugged up, almost out of it almost comforted by the sound. His yellow lenses are perched upon his heart as his gold look down at her feeble frail form, looking pained, looking anguished, looking guilty even as the bangs hang heavily from his glassy gold.
"You and her would get along well stubborn to a T…she too believed that she couldn't be controlled by destiny nor fate that she herself made her own fate." Strained, Nighteye smiles sadly at the two.
"Sir…" Mirio whispers his voice cracking breaking briefly.
"I believe it might have something to do with the energy contained in thoughts. The power of a vision so strong it leaves no room for doubt and strives to the desired future. It wasn't just Midoriya everyone truly believed in what they were fighting fr could come to pass." Pained, Nighteye explains his hues softening sadly at the thought.
"Sir…" Softly, Sayako leans over the bed brow furrowing.
"You were right Sayako…today has changed my way of thinking as had your words on the day we met…." Nighteye smiles softly fondly at the memory of how it all began…
"You say how your quirk predicts the future, how you can see into the future guess that means my quirk changes the future you dictate." Coolly, Sayako remarks using the back of her hand to wipe aside the blood from her cracked bruised bloodied lips, smearing it upon her cheek. She spits out the stained seal smeared scarlet.
"The future isn't set in stone and that's enough for me. I only…have one regret left." Nighteye sighs sadly.
"Sir! Don't give up please! Keep fighting! don't die on me!" Pleadingly, Togata begs beseeches Nighteye the tears freely falling.
"Mirio!" Midoriya's hues soften sadly at the blonde.
"You can't…you just can't!" Mirio cries out the tears freely falling as Sayako softly drapes her arm over Mirio bringing him into a side hug of sorts, feeling the tears dampen her collar but she brushes it off.
"Mirio…Sayako…I failed you both." Sir Nighteye bows his head pained.
"Of course you haven't. This is my fault. If only I had…!" Sayako shakes her head at him, her voice cracking breaking blinking back the tears threatening to fall.
"Don't say that! You were always there! Teaching us how to be strong! Everything I am now is thanks to you don't you see!? I'm not ready please don't leave me." Mirio begs, beseeching him, the tears freely falling from him.
"Mirio…forgive me…I only saw you as a potential vessel for one for all but you followed me you believed in me and beofre I know it you became my pride and joy…one last time let me see…" Apologetic, Sir Nighteye confesses pleading almost as his gold glistens beginning to turn to purple.
"You'll be okay you are going to become the strongest hero the world has ever seen that's part of the future that shouldn't be changed. You won't be alone either Sayako will be there whenever you feel lonely…" Resolved, Nighteye softly slides his palm over Mirio's cheek holding his cheek as the tears freely fall from Mirio, his purple hue glowing glistening showing said future for the hero.
"Sir…" Mirio begins but…
"Work hard and be sure to smile the both of you." Softly, Sir Nighteye smiles up at the two before him.
"I'll get stronger! I promise you I'll work harder I'll…" Earnestly, Sayako promises her voice cracking breaking briefly.
"I know you will. But remember without joy and laughter to balance the sorrow this world cannot have a bright future…" Slowly, his gleaming gold slowly slam shut as Sayako feels the sob break through making her wince, the tears freely fall from both heroes in training at the loss of their mentor.
"So…why am I here?" Kazz furrows his brow confusion clear on his face as his hues narrow gazing at the mirror, looking over at his current attire as he spots Hikaru moving his legs up and down, peering into the open box. He takes out a plush of Best Jeanist squeezing it playing around with it while Best Jeanist sits on the sofa, bandages coiled around him.
"To get dressed for the part dad." Sayako sighs at her father furrowing her brow at him gently placing the tray down, pouring tea for her father.
"I can dress myself." Defensibly, Kazz puffs out his cheeks, his hues lingering on the taller form, a faint feverish hue to his crimson cheeks seeing said male nod his head at Sayako softly sipping the tea in thanks.
"Dad there is a difference between workaholic stain smeared lab coat and funeral attire." Sighing, Sayako sighs at her dad, taking the cup, softly sipping the herbal tea.
"I don't think I need that much help…" Haughty, Kazz argues as he turns to the two, both greens from the two blondes widen when seeing the current state of the man before them.
"What are you wearing?" Sayako scowls at him as Tsunagu chokes slightly on his tea.
"A bowtie." Befuddled, Kazz sees Sayako eye the baby blue snow-white polka dot bowtie.
"Why?" Tsunagu's greens narrow.
"Why not? Bowties are cool." Cheekily, Kazz smiles shyly.
"You don't wear a bowtie to a funeral dad." Deadpanned, Sayako argues.
"Oh and you'd know!?" Kazz huffs at the two, eyeing the two sat across from one another on the fashionable sofa, sipping their tea both of them judgmentally eyeing the man before them. Sighing Kazz couldn't help but stare at the two, moments like this true showed they were father and daughter from their judgemental glares to their fashion sense. If there was one thing Sayako had inherited from her father, Kazz supposed it had to be his fashion sense. Hikaru lay on his front, a sketchpad in his hand drawing to his heart content, in his own little world while the two dealt with Kazz.
"It's common sense." Sayako states the fact firmly.
"I don't need to hear that from you." Huffing, Kazz crosses his arms over his chest.
"So long as you are under my roof you will look presentable." Proudly, Tsunagu states the fact firmly, slowly arising from the sofa startling Sayako and Hikaru.
"Dad!" Hikaru calls out as Sayako sighs at the blonde grunting, grimacing before slowly Sayako helps her father up, nodding his head at her grateful.
"Listen to father, dad." Softly, Sayako tells Kazz, his hues widening when hearing her words.
"She's right dad." Hikaru agrees as he doddles to his heart content.
"Urgh…" Kazz groans slumping his shoulders.
"Come here." Tsunagu approaches Kazz, gently taking his bowtie and turning it into a tie as the two do so, Hikaru and Sayako arch a brow. Sayako leans against the sofa while Hikaru watches, the two siblings staring as the two share a look as Kazz coughs turns to look away while Sayako is looking at suits.
"Hmm…" Blushing, Kazz turns his head away, his hues widening when seeing the sly smirk of Hikaru while seeing the arched brow of the unamused Sayako. Kazz gives the two a warning look only making the two raise a brow bemused by said warning while Kazz gulps anxiously as he feels beads of sweat slither slide down his temple, feeling the heavy hue of heat burn blister his crimson cheeks at the focused form of Tsunagu focusing on the task.
"You're going for a regular fit." Tsunagu hums brow furrowing.
"Yeah…why?" Kazz questions as Tsunagu steps back, eyeing his form making Kazz squirm slightly from feeling hies hues over him.
"A suit is an expression of oneself, Nighteye was close to you do you ot think it wise to show such effort?" Tsunagu quirks his head to the side.
"I…I guess I don't really go to funerals often so…" Shyly, Kazz scratches the back of his neck as a small shy smile crosses Tsunagu's lips at the flustered mess, a part of him unable to find this side of Kazz not adorable.
"Come with me." Tsunagu sighs at the fashion disaster.
"Wait dad." Sayako calls out to him.
"Hm?" Humming, Tsunagu turns to the blonde.
"This three piece or this three piece?" Sayako asks taking out the two hangers as Kazz couldn't help but furrow his brow at them both, they both looked the same to him.
"Hmm…you wearing the navy blue tie?" Tsunagu gathers.
"Indeed." Sayako confirms calmly.
"Wait so you can wear navy blue?" Befuddled, Kazz furrows his brow.
"Not as the base colour dear." Softly, Tsunagu pats his shoulder unable to not find this side of him endearing, to think the normally calm, composed collected doctor would act so clueless, so lost, so confused about feeble fabrics was amusing in itself.
"Urgh there's so many rules." Kazz groans slumping his shoulders.
"Did you not take an oath with a book of rules?" Tsunagu remarks.
"Touché." A small smile crosses Kazz's lips.
"I'd go with that three piece dear." Tsunagu tells Sayako.
"Thank you." Sayako nods her head, gently placing the other down on the sofa before heading to her respected room.
"Are you sure? I mean with that vest it seems a bit complicated." Confused, Kazz points out trying to offer his own advice only to see the soft smile of pity of endearment, amusement from his own daughter earning his husband, ex-husband he quickly corrected himself internally had released a small snicker alongside Hikaru.
"Dad I love you but this is my mentor's funeral if I'm going to his funeral I'm going all out." Proudly, Sayako states the fact firmly.
"Right…" Kazz sighs watching the girl head to her room as he heads to his own, to change with Tsunagu's aid.
"How long do you think he'll be?" Curious, Sayako asks as she and Tsunagu reside, opposite one another Hikaru having wandered off to go help their lost cause of a father. She and Tsunagu simply sip their tea, no words needing to be shed between both of them.
"Knowing him I may need to give him a clip on." Tsunagu tuts under his breath bemused, a small shy coy chuckle escaping his lips.
"It still surprises me you married someone so inept with fashion." Sayako confesses.
"We all have our strengths and weaknesses." Tsunagu shrugs his shoulders.
"You must have saw something in him." Sayako presses perplexed.
"I do…" Tsunagu answers as her hues widen when hearing his words.
"Don't you mean you did." Dubiously, her guarded green narrow slightly.
"...Yes a fraudulent slip of the tongue." Tentatively, he places his cup down.
"Riiight…you okay? I'm surprised you're not coming." Sayako eyes the blonde.
"Not every hero knows each other." Sighing, he reminds her.
"But dad did." Sayako remarks seeing her father's furrowed frown.
"Dad and Nighteye were…complicated." Calmly, he sighs.
"Complicated? They just seemed like friends." Frowning, Sayako argues.
"To you and him perhaps but…I rather not speak ill of the dead." Sighing, he tells her.
"Okay dad you just started with that you know I'm just going to ask." Annoyed, Sayako sighs at him.
"I had a feeling he had feelings for your father when we were together." Tenderly, he tells her.
"…No." Swiftly, she gawks.
"Yes." Calmly, he confirms.
"But…I mean…dad?" Dumbstruck, Sayako stares still trying to reel in the news.
"It's just a theory." Tenderly, Tsunagu reminds her.
"And you never told him?" Sayako arches a brow befuddled.
"Your father is rather oblivious for a doctor." Tiredly, Tsunagu sighs, he loved his ex-husband he did but when it came to social cues his husband was not the best. He could do enough for his job sure but when it came to his hero work that was where he was lacking where it came to certain types of civilians…in his younger years before he mellowed out.
"Right…right…" Sayako whispers softly sipping her tea.
"Is this… Chamomile?" Surprised, Tsunagu raises a brow baffled.
"Yeah said to be good for well…healing." Shyly, Sayako glances to the side.
"It's good. I'm glad you still enjoy teatime." Tenderly, Tsunagu smiles softly fondly remembering their tea times together, it was a rare occurrence, but it was nice, a good way to catch up on things, no words were needed for the two.
"Tea helps me relax." Simply, Sayako shrugs.
"Along with the incense." Tsunagu remarks recalling the credit card details.
"Yeah…that has helped me." Meekly, Sayako whispers, she recalled her father showing her innocence and such for her to sue when she was younger. But it never seemed to work for her not until now that is…
"I heard you've begun studying more." Softly, Tsunagu remarks.
"Only due to failing my exam." Sayako exclaims.
"The fact that you're trying to improve is the main thing I never thought I'd see the day you would read a book without even one single break." Gently, Tsunagu tells her impressed recalling the times they would try to have her study only for each and every book to either be torn to threads to be tossed aside leaving them a wailing whining child having a temper tantrum crying her eyes out.
"Yeah it was hard at first but…I think the therapy's helping a bit you know? Though I can't say it's fully fixed me you know." Glumly, Sayako stares down at the tea below only to perk up at the hand on her shoulder, green gaze into a similar shade to her own.
"There is nothing about you that needs to be fixed Sayako. We all have our rough patches, every day at a time…" Tsunagu states the fact firmly squeezing her shoulder. Sayako blinks back the tears threatening to fall from his resolved tone.
"…Right…thanks. Oh Gang Orca sends his regards." Shyly, Sayako smiles shyly, brushing a stray strand of blonde behind her ear.
"How kind…you really have grown Sayako." Tsunagu tells her.
"You think so?" Shyly, she smiles at him.
"I know so…" Tsunagu tells her.
"So…does that mean we can get any juicy titbits?" Teasingly, Sayako smirks slightly hopeful even making Tsunagu sigh.
"Still I ever held any ill will towards him if anything I supposed I pitied him being stuck in the friend zone can be a rather bothersome thing. Regardless while you two go Hikaru will be safe with me." Tiredly, Tsunagu answers before changing topic.
"You sure you can babysit?" Uncertain, Sayako furrows her brow, concern clear in her voice.
"Seems more like my own child is babysitting me. Besides, just because I lost one lung does not make me incapable of looking after my own flesh and blood." Truthfully, Tsunagu tells her.
"Okay, okay I was just saying…you're staring again." Annoyed, Sayako sighs seeing her father's green glued to her arm.
"Apologies it's just…" Tsunagu bows his head briefly pained almost anguished even.
"Dad we've been over this, this wasn't your fault. This happened because of me because I let my guard down." Determined, Sayako reminds him.
"You let your guard down to a child who I told Kazz we could not help we could provide them a home and shelter sure with food but that child…that child needed more help than we could ever give. That child needed a family-focused solely on them." Truthfully, Tsunagu reminds her.
"…You may have a point regardless what happened, happened. All I can do ow is move forward from it, looking at the what ifs or who to blame won't help me." Sighing, Sayako tells him.
"I lost a lung and you lost an arm…" Amused, Tsunagu jokes light, a glint gleaming in his hues.
"Seems we're matching." Mischievously, Sayako smirks offering her teacup.
"I suppose." Softly, his tea cup clinks with her own just as the two perk up at the low groan of the door with Hikaru scuttling out of the room looking exhausted as he jumps on the sofa, plopping his face on Tsunagu's lap.
"Right ready to head out?" Kazz asks as Tsunagu gently places his hand on top of Hikaru's comforting the fallen troop.
"Sure." Sayako stands seeing Tsunagu combs his fingertips through Hikaru's hair before nodding at the two which Kazz does the same, thanking Tsunagu again as they leave the apartment, heading to the funeral…
"Sayako?" Aizawa arches a brow at the sight of the girl.
"Aizawa…guys." Stoically, Sayako greets the group, her friends in their school uniforms to her slight surprise.
"You look professional." Kirishima raises a brow.
"Thanks…" Sayako shrugs just as she perks up at the soft sound of footsteps approaching.
"Doctor Sachiko." Aizawa turs to greet him.
"Right…see you guys…" Sayako nods her head at the group before joining her father's side as they go to give their respect to their fallen mentor, fallen comrade but most of all fallen friend.
"Before we knew it September was over and fall was upon us as the air around us grew colder. We tried to come to terms with everything we been through. All Might and Mr Aizawa took us and those involved in the Chie Hassaikai to Sir Nighteye's funeral, it was one last chance to say goodbye to him…"
Softly, the tears freely fall from the beady brownish hazel of Kazz as gently he wraps his arm around Sayako, bringing her into a side hug. Together, the two lean against one another as she two blinks back the tears threatening to fall from her glassy greens as the two give their respects to the fallen hero, Nighteye.
