Avenging Omake Addendum

Watching With the Watcher

Plus Handbook 2

As usual, I don't own the Marvel or anime characters.

This is the end of Avenging for now, with this Omake like tale and an addended to the Handbook, which has gotten really big and is now hard to follow due to size and curious formatting issues. Therefore I intend to revise it and start the second handbook with Act V and up. So it should shrink a little shortly.

And here we go.

Johnny Storm sat on the portable inflatable chair that had made the Challengers of the Fantastic millions. It was a small square that was the size of a notebook that could be unfolded by running a finger along the sides where it would automatically inflate. One could then adjust the dimensions via a small set of controls built into it. Reed Richards had invented it, of course, but had to be begged into it by both Johnny and Ben Grimm since he considered it a waste of time and that anyone could design it of they put their mind to it. He wanted to develop more deep space energy collectors to see the exact dimensions of the fabric of the universe, which it turned out not many people could do, and such a project would take one of his intellect time. But they had badgered him until Sue pointed out he'd lose less time making the darn thing than having them bother him about it. So he took thirty minutes to design it and handed the blueprint to the pair. They then inputted the information into the Baxter Building's fabricator and voila! Inflatable chair.

The pair loved them so much they commented on how much other people would want them as well. They then went out, patented the device under the Challengers of the Fantastic LLC, worked out with a deal with a manufacturer, and within a month they were rolling in money. Both Reed and Sue applauded the pair for their efforts since staying solvent was sometimes beneath Reed's notice as well. For someone so smart, he overlooked a lot of obvious things. At least he had been wise enough to finally propose to Sue. Another visit from Fai Fluorite had been the final kick in the rear end he needed to pop the question. Sue later said if she'd known that was what it would take, she would have invited Fai on a mission months ago. Reed had even gone so far as to set up an inter-dimensional gateway scrambler so no one (especially Fai) could just pop into the Baxter Building that way without asking first.

Jealous Reed Richards was kind of amusing to see in action.

And now Johnny was living the dream. Meaning he had snuck into the Watcher's lair on the moon using several of Reed's devices, and then helped himself to the monitor screens to see various activities both across this universe, and more interestingly, many parallel others. It was all thanks to the 'Universal Remote'. The device was one of the few ones Reed had not developed. Rather it had been made by the other-dimensional tyrant, Mojo. He was a corpulent being, yellow and only vaguely humanoid, who went about in a mechanical chair and ruled his universe by controlling all visual entertainment. He was like the Big Brother of his universe, but ruled through ratings rather than an actual Ministry of Truth.

The Challengers of the Fantastic ended up getting kidnapped for one of his 'Reality shows' which didn't have anything to do with reality (Ben proclaimed that made them exactly like the ones on Earth). They managed to outmaneuver and eventually outsmart the bizarre being by setting up a rival entertainment system which allowed other beings in the dimension to create their own forms of entertainment and share them with others. It turned out this new wave of entertainment from a variety of sources highlighted Mojo's lack of imagination, which had been going on for some time. His rating plummeted despite his still near monopoly on entertainment distribution systems. The Challengers left the dimension (with Johnny purloining Mojo's Universal Remote when he wasn't looking), with Mojo railing he would find a way to make his rivals emulate him so the system could go back to normal. Johnny hoped the people they left in charge of the system weren't foolish enough to try and be like the bankrupt one which made people flock to them in the first place.

Nah, no one could be as stupid as that.

So he had flown to the Blue Area of the moon using the CotF's space shuttle, snuck in through the same camouflaged door they had before, and hoped the big-headed guy wasn't in residence again. It turned out he wasn't and now Johnny was watching things he never imagined. Literally. His mind was blown by all the things he had already witnessed for the last six hours. It might have been the coolest thing ever.

"I see you have entered the lair of the Watcher again."

"Ah!" Johnny nearly dropped the Remote. The big guy was directly behind him, his emotional state unreadable. Time to turn on the old Storm charm before it went red. "Well, you see, when we got back from a recent adventure, I was just dying to try out this device we found, and you have the best tv set up that I know of, so I came by to see if it works. Don't worry, I didn't raid your fridge. Brought my own cooler." He indicated the one filled with a variety of drinks inside. "Want one?"

"I do not consume organic substances as you do. We Watchers sustains ourselves with a variety of energies we absorb through our skin."

"Oh." Hmm, if he didn't need to eat food, then he probably didn't need to go to the bathroom. Wait a minute, what if he didn't have one at all. Boy, things could have gotten awkward fast. Maybe he could have Reed develop a small port-a-potty that could fit in a pocket, too.

"Ordinarily, I would not welcome an intruder in my domicile. However since you simply wish to engage in the task of observing, this does not violate the Watchers' Code. In a way, we respect the desire to survey the universe and its myriad of wonders." He looked to the countless screens that lined one of the walls. "I see there is a theme to the acts you have chosen to observe."

"Oh, um, yeah." That was a detail he had forgotten about. Sue would so kill him if she found out that was why he had traveled all the way to moon.

The Watcher continued. "Sexual conduct in a variety of ways, and forms in some cases, though your preference is for symmetrically bipedal forms such as yourself. They would be the easiest for your mind to relate to."

Johnny began to sweat appreciably. "Sort of." Damn, the Watcher was so going to throw him out for using his omniversal viewer for watching porn. A lot of porn from all over the place.

As if reading his mind, and perhaps he was, the Watcher said, "In the course of my duties, I too have witnessed many forms of intercourse that take place from the lifeforms that exist."

Johnny's mouth opened wide. "You mean you watch porn, too."

"I suspect our motives are not the same, but I have indeed observed the same acts even as you are. Though not those exclusively as you are doing right now." He gave a pointed look at the monitors. "For example, the Phareans are a light-based creature. Were you to witness their conjoining your human eyes would be blinded."

"I think I'll skip that channel." He said. "I'm sort of enjoying… I mean observing this kind of stuff. For instance, take this one." He pointed at a particular screen. "These sexy female ninjas practice some kind of sex-fu. And there are these demons… I mean alternative life forms, called Shikima, that they battle against using sex-fu. It's pretty hot… I mean interesting. Unconventional combat."

"I see." And in the case of the Watcher, that was always literal. He observed some of the other scenes across the screens. One he actually remained on, staring. "That looks like Galactus, one that hasn't been consumed like in our universe, but what is he doing to that planet?"

"Oh, yeah, that one," Johnny said as his face scrunched up. "It was weird enough I looked into how things came to be there. Apparently this Galactus thing needs to consume energy to survive, planets worth of the stuff. In that universe he ate something called the Overfiend, and I guess it… influenced him. Man what he's doing to that planet as he's eating it is just plain wrong."

"I am not one to cast moral judgments, but I understand your viewpoint and have no interest in trying to counter it." The Watcher mentally changed the screen to view a different place. "I believe this is more in line with what you've been observing. This is the planet Uahlaer. The denizens are identical to Earthlings in appearance. Due to ninety percent of their population being female, many relationships are same sex. Their culture is focused on physical exercise and competing against one another in ritualized chants while wearing tight fitting garb."

Johnny stared at him in wide-eyed wonder. "You mean it's a planet of hot lesbian cheerleaders?"

"A not inaccurate description."

"Hot damn! Let's crack open a beer! I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship!"

And so that was how Johnny Storm found himself watching porn with a Watcher. Which the Watcher was cool with since it wasn't often he found someone who wanted to watch the universe go by like he was.

[End Omake]

And so that ends the Omake part of this, which is the last official original work of Avenging for the foreseeable future. And it's not exactly out of line with canon since Watchers have to watch everything, which would include acts which would fall under the 'porn' idea. It's just never been covered officially by Marvel is all.

And according to the multi-verse rules, there has to be a planet of hot lesbian cheerleaders somewhere.

Now as to the second part of the Handbook. The first has gotten way too cluttered. So I'm ending it at the end of Act IV. So Act V and on will be in this one. Because I'm sure at some point I'll be adding to this. I just need a break, and I want to officially have an ending to the original story. Partially because some people won't read a story unless it's finished, since so many people start good stories and don't finish them. So from this point on. We'll get a list going.
