Pairing: Ephram/Amy
Spoilers: Through the last scene of Foreverwood.
Disclaimer: Everwood isn't mine. Shocker.
Loving her is what makes him...him. He doesn't know who he'd be if something happened to the part of his heart that belongs to her, and only her.
She changed his life. Because of her, he grew to love this god-forsaken town. The town is his home now, because she's his home, and she lives here.
And now, she's standing there, telling him that he changed her life.
He's known she's the one since he first laid eyes on her.
Okay, maybe not, but it didn't take him too long to figure it out. That's why he let her use him. He knew that she hadn't even entertained the notion that he was the one for her. She was too busy pining after Colin, hoping that he would wake up, that everything would go back to the way it had been before him.
And now, she's standing there, telling him that, ever since she met, him, everything in her life has come back to him.
He remembers every second they've spent together.
No, he's not crazy. He knows that's not really possible. They've spent so much time together, there's no way he can remember every instant of it. It just feels like it. But he remembers the big things, the important things, and the things that are only important because they're so tiny. The things that are only important because the fact that they got to those things shows how close they are.
And now, she's standing there, telling him that she remembers everything, too.
His feelings for her are a part of him, as much as his legs, or his head, or as the next most precious part; the fingers he uses to play the piano with.
He tried to push them down, and has succeeded, for short periods of time. He's pushed them down with feelings of resentment towards her, though he's not entirely sure that counts. He's pushed them down with his infatuation, and eventual love (was it love? He thought it was at the time, but now he's not so sure) for Madison. He pushed them down with his confusion, when he couldn't handle being around her. And, now, he's trying to push them down with feelings for Stephanie, the way he did with feelings for Madison. It's not working, but it helps him cope.
And now, she's standing there, telling him she feels the same way. She's done the same thing. She's been running, but she's ready to stop now. She wants to be with him, this time for good.
He watches her babble, now, trying to interrupt her, but she plows on. She says the three little words that he has lived to hear fall from her lips.
And he kisses her.
She loves him, the way he loves her, and they both know it. He had never admitted before that he knew she was the one, even when he was with Madison. She had never admitted before that a part of her had known she loved him, even when Colin was still alive.
They're it.
"The guy who's lucky enough to get to be with you, he won't walk away too easily."
"Why would you say that?"
"Because. He gets to be with you."
