Chapter 2: Unleashed Titan

Madison was fast asleep and began to dream. Like a boat on a river, she let her thoughts drift and searched for someone who could give her comfort. After a while she had sunk so low and found herself in an empty space that slowly but steadily built up until an almost real world was around her.

It was a small isolated valley, everywhere grew old redwood trees, like a forest of ancient times with a carpet of ferns all over the ground and she was in the middle, in which was a a small meadow, where many flowers and other plants grew, some of which she had never seen in her life. A few meters away from her was a lake, it was quite large, even had a small island on it. On the opposite shore of the lake began a completely different forest, formed of more tropical trees and tree ferns, that also grew on this side of the lake. On the left shore seen from Maddie, after a few meters it went a little higher, until it led to a small waterfall. It was one of her favorite worlds to visit with him, even though there were endless possibilities for the two of them, formed from her memories and his.

She took a deep breath and enjoyed the fresh air and just listened to the sounds around her, the chirping of the birds, the rustling of the wind in the trees and the lapping of the lake water.

Peace, something she could often rarely find anymore.

Behind her she heard heavy and loud footsteps stomping and vibrations spreading through the valley, but she wasn't afraid, just listening as trees groaned and cracked behind her, feeling the vibrations go all the way to her legs as they got closer. The footsteps became quieter, the vibrations became less, until they were almost completely gone.

Now she heard a soft and peaceful hum behind her and felt something rough nestle under her arm, then stroke his head. "Godzilla." She whispered. He had leaned down under her arm and let her nuzzle his neck. In this world, he could shrink to a size that suited her, as a dream could do.

"How are you, what's happened so far?" Godzilla pulled his head back again, straightening up as he stretched his head towards the sky and yawned briefly. Meanwhile he shared his thoughts with her, it was strange, he didn't speak a word, Maddie didn't hear anything either, but still it was like he was saying something to her, she had something like memories all of a sudden in her head that she could respond to.

"Why are you worried?" Godzilla shook himself briefly and looked down at the lake as well. "You feel like something's coming, a storm or something?" Godzilla looked at her and stretched his neck up, a sort of nod from him. He seemed tired, exhausted from traveling and fighting.

"The other Titans are in turmoil too, aren't they?" Godzilla looked away from her and carefully lay down in the grass, belly on the ground and head facing the lake.

"Whatever it might be, together we will overcome it, I promise you." She now also sat down on the floor and leaned against him, also looking out at the lake again. For a few minutes they just sat there quietly spending time together, not a word or thought was exchanged, just peaceful coexistence.

Maddie laid down on the grass and rolled to the side, which Godzilla did as well, and the two looked at each other. Madison stroked his neck and told him a little about what had happened.

"I don't know if going back to school was a good idea, I mean I like Miki, but besides her and Abby I don't really get along with anyone, I don't fit in there. I mean it's obvious why, still, it feels more like the rest just hate me, especially what happened today."

Godzilla looked at her and seemed to tilt his head curiously, wanting to know what was behind her feelings.

"Well, how can I say this, I stood up for this kid, Josh, today. I had punched another kid and I broke his nose, Abby stood with me and he kind of deserved it, but it was like I lost control today mostly, on myself."

Godzilla looked troubled, his expression one with concern and anger, directed at her and this boy.

"If only he knew the friends I have."

Laughed Madison and smiled, Godzilla kept this in his thoughts though, for later.

"Well, meanwhile I don't plan on telling anyone outside of Abby and Miki, they're the only ones who know what's going on with us and who I really am. Which I've had to hold back a lot in school." Madison sighed and stared up at the sky and put her arms behind her head, Godzilla nudged her shoulder a little with his muzzle.

"Oh, well when I hit that other guy, Ben, before that there was something inside me that felt nothing but anger, like when we..."

Madison had to swallow for a moment to keep from thinking hard about what had happened.

"When we fought Megaguirus, it felt the same way."

Madison had to remember what else had just happened that night, just the thought alone made her uncomfortable and she began to shake. She put her hands on her stomach and tried to take a breath to calm herself down, Godzilla slid a little to the side and then put his head on her arms and gave a soft growl so she could collect herself.

"Actually, I shouldn't have done it but... there was a man who almost tried to rob Koji right in front of me, I knocked him down but they had seen me, my cover was exposed. The way they had looked at me, I felt like I was being treated like a monster. "

Godzilla craned his neck a bit confused about this statement, how something like that could be bad, for him it was normality. "Sorry, that came out wrong." Madison sat up. "I just still don't know exactly where to put myself. Human or monster. I know I'm human, my mind tells me that too, but something inside me says I'm still a titan, a monster."

Madison was still very young when she got her powers and faced this decision, with having to deal with monsters directly before and monstrous humans, how exactly she should deal with it she wasn't sure, but she managed to get through it on her own. Godzilla snuggled up to her again, he didn't really know what else he could do, the whole thing was rather new to him, despite all that he had already experienced he wasn't much different mentally than Madison. She sighed again and stroked him on the neck again, thinking.

Maybe she would quit school again, only what would Mark think of her then, she thought to herself, but she might get back in later when she was older to be more with people at her education level. But she wanted to stay with Miki more than anything, after all she and Abby were almost, like a family she had always wanted. If only Mark were also with her, maybe he could help her with with all of these decisions.

Suddenly Godzilla began to twitch, Madison felt his body tremble, something was irritating him strongly, his tail swung excitedly to the side. Confused at first, Madison tried to calm him down, but she too felt herself becoming more agitated, the world around her suddenly felt cool and a wind was picking up.

Godzilla sat up on his knees and hugged Madison to protect her from something, even if there was no immediate danger, and Madison clung to his neck. Emotions and instincts were beating wildly in both of them, as if something was just screaming for them. And then it was gone, everything was back to normal, as if nothing had happened.

The two looked around in confusion, trying to spy a possible danger, but nothing came. "What was that? It had felt like someone was calling... us?" But Godzilla had sensed something like that before, feeling something was out of balance. His instincts told him he had to wake up and move on to get to the bottom of this.
Madison grabbed Godzilla by the cheek and pulled him down to her, leaning her head against his. "I promise we'll get through this, together, we'll take care of each other." And Godzilla returned the promise.

5:00 in the morning, New York

Madison woke up and looked up at the ceiling. For what felt like a good half hour, she just looked up and thought again. "Just thinking all the time." She said to herself. So many questions always came to her mind, but hardly any answers to them, sometimes she really wished she could just turn her brain off for once and think of nothing. But it was not that easy.

Her powers were what always made her think, why had she, of all people, gotten it, clearly she was the descendant of the humans who had lived together with the Titans, but so were many others, genetically there would have to be someone else out there, but why was it she who had evolved that way.
Her mother told her it was because the Titans were waking up again, she herself had known about them as a child, maybe it was pure luck or just a desperate way of evolution to prepare for what was to come.

Was that what Emma had told her? That she had prepared Maddie for the post-Titan world, a "fair chance" as she said. She would not get answers just like that from anyone, the only one who might be able to answer these questions was Emma, but she was no longer alive and so were her memories and plans. Now Maddie had to create her own ideas to get an answer.

As Maddie pondered, she also thought about her father and what he was doing now. Because even though he had tried to hide it, she somehow knew that he and Ilene had something going on. When she was still at Castel Bravo, Maddie had watched the two of them speak languages and work together very often, especially Mark and Ilene had also spent a lot of free time together. The two of them tried to keep it a secret, but it wasn't really hard for Madison to see through whatever white lies Mark told her. It had bothered her a bit after a while and that's why she had gotten her own room.

Maddie had nothing against Ilene, but she couldn't really replace her mother, no one could, she originally thought, until she met Miki. Miki was like the mother she never had and even though that was actually almost macabre for her to think alone, she couldn't put it any other way. Miki was caring and gave one the feeling of security that only a mother could do.

One reason Maddie thought to herself was that something must have happened to a child in the past that had moved Miki to this person and this program. But even if it did, it wouldn't change her attitude towards Miki and that she would forever protect her just as Miki did for Madison.

Besides Miki, there was only one being who managed to put Maddie in such a favor, Godzilla. She never doubted that he was there for her, because he protects the planet, it is his world and despite this huge world in which they were, Maddie was the one with whom he shared his thoughts.

But he was also the reason why Madison was so torn. To be on his side and help the planet as a whole or to stand completely with her own species, should it ever come to that. But that was just a nightmare scenario for her, because the real goal was to bring both Titans and humans into a natural balance and protect them, even if there were parts on both sides that didn't want such a thing. Some Titans didn't even care about the humans or the planet and some humans wanted the complete out etching of the Titans.

Godzilla himself was once such a Titan who didn't care about what people did, but since his 2014 awakening she had changed his perspective, like a human he has grown, partly due to Madison. When he first saw her directly it was primarily his instincts that had told him who she was and what her job was. But when the two of them were together on Skull Island, searching for her powers, he also learned more about humans and what kind of creatures they were and that the differences between Titans and humans were often thinner than one would think. Madison was the one who first showed him a kinder side of it, she had been grateful that he had saved Madison from Ghidorah and forgave him for what had happened to her brother.

Affection that Godzilla now also had towards her. He knew what how she stood up for others, and practically the planet as a whole. She would have been willing to sacrifice herself just to delay the worst for a few hours. In doing so, she went against her mother, the one she trusted the most at first, which was not easy and had a price. For this sacrifice Godzilla swore to protect her.

It was 8:00 by now Madison was almost dozing off again until she heard noises next to her, a light chirping next to her. She looked to her right and rubbed her eyes, completely forgetting she was in the living room on the sofa. Rex was on the table next to her doing some of his morning chanting and shaking himself a bit.

"Good morning Rex." Madison said softly and reached her hand out to him, curiously he tilted his head to the side and rested it on Madison's hand, whereupon Madison tickled his chin. Abby had taught him that to come to him if she saw him doing something he shouldn't.

Carefully, so as not to frighten him, Madison sat up, took him from below, grabbed him on the belly and put him on her lap. Briefly he fluttered his wings. While Madison continued to sit there stroking him, watching his exact movements, how muscles and skin tightened, how the wings sometimes briefly flapped up to his heartbeat, which she could feel all the way into her fingers. His skin was rough but very warm at the same time.

And suddenly she felt someone wiping her hair from behind on her head. She leaned back and saw Miki's friendly smile greet her. "Good morning Maddie, how are you?" Miki walked once around the couch, put a small bowl of water for Rex on the floor next to the table, a plate of rice cakes that had chocolate on them and handed Madison a cup of coffee. "I'm better thanks." Madison blew on it a little because it was all fresh and hot. Miki sat down next to her and took a sip of her coffee.

The sweet and bitter taste woke Madison up a bit and she was already feeling a little better.

"How did you sleep?" "Quite well, I dreamed a little." "Ran into Godzilla again?" Said Miki with a slight grin. "Y-yes. Just something weird happened, maybe it was just how shaken up I was, but it was like we heard a cry for help." Madison had described to Miki before how she dreamed with Godzilla, but she had never experienced anything like that. "Could this possibly have to do with the stress you had yesterday? Maybe you let that out in the dream?" "No, I was very relaxed and calm, I was doing very well, but whatever it was, both I and Godzilla had heard it and reacted to it. I woke up after that."

"I admit, this very morning I had heard your voice from the living room, I could hardly sleep after what you had told me and there only your whisper had already woken me up." "I'm sorry Miki." "No don't worry about it, you've already had enough yesterday."

Madison took a sip of her coffee and put her feet up on the coffee table in front of them while Miki turned on the TV. Maddie leaned against her shoulder to relax some more, however the news wasn't the best for that.

"-After the arrest, the man was immediately delivered to the hospital after he apparently suffered a fracture of the ribs as well as a dent in the head. He is not in danger of death, however, he will need some time to recover. Eyewitness-" Miki tried to turn the channel, but Madison pulled on her arm as she did so and said "Leave it open, I need to know what happened." Miki sighed and let it continue.

"According to the witnesses, a teenage boy was still present at the scene and knocked the man out with a punch. At the same time, something on her body lit up blue, which was exceedingly strange to most, before this teenager took flight and disappeared into a side alley. The owner, Koji Shinjo, testified that the teenager had just come from a party and that it was some kind of disguise or something from a club, party lights that looked different in the rain."

Madison sighed in relief, Koji had actually covered for her, she could hardly put her gratitude into real words for that, but now she had to be careful when she went to him.

"Thanks Koji." She whispered, relaxing back on Miki's shoulder. Miki heard it, smiled, and patted Madison on the head. A few messages passed by until it came to another important one for the two of them.

"Another large sighting of Godzilla occurred early this morning, with him submerged near Rio Dejanero after a meager encounter with the titan Behemoth, and resurfacing a few miles offshore." Switching to footage and cell phone shots, Godzilla could be seen clearly as he emerged from the water, his back glowing.

"After Godzilla emerged, his back began to glow blue and only a short time later a roar was released from him that was still audible through much of the city. After that, he dove back down towards the north, where it is not yet known where he might swim to next, Monarch is keeping Godzilla's current position a secret."

The news was to ends after that and it was back to a normal program. "That must have been just after I woke up." "Do you have any idea where he might be swimming to now?" Maddie shook her head and looked at her watch, she had to leave soon. "Maybe I could try contacting him later, probably find out." "If there's anything at school, anything at all, let me know and I'll come get you right away."

Maddie nods and went into her room to change. After a few minutes she was out and headed to school. "Oh by the way, I was on the phone with Abby yesterday, she said she wanted to meet you at the gate." "We always do, don't we?" said Madison as Miki slipped her a 10 for lunch. "Like I said, she had mentioned that explicitly, like she wanted to talk to you about something or something." "Okay." Expressed Maddie a little confused and gave Miki another quick hug before walking out. Today she could go to school normally and not have to take the roof.

On the way to school, however, she could not get rid of the feeling as if something was just not right, although nothing had changed externally in the environment, was it still stress from yesterday? But she should be sure, she had a little different clothes than yesterday, with a white shirt, jean shorts and red flower jacket, so recognizing should be harder. But it was not as if she thought someone was watching her, no, something was in the air that was fundamentally wrong, like an imbalance.

Without any big incidents she came already after 20 minutes at the street opposite on the school and stood before the crosswalk, as if she had had a blackout as she was absorbed in her thoughts. For it it had left itself time with going, in order not to stress itself further and tried itself from the whole yesterday on night to distract, with music and observation everything in such a way on the road and the sidewalk beside it happens and was. Thought about the people and what they could think right now, whether they had already heard of what was in the news.

Once she took a deep breath and when it turned green she crossed the street and walked along the school wall to the gate, Abby had already been waiting for her there.
She looked a little more worried when she looked over at Maddie and immediately went over to give her a hug. "Abby, what is it?" "Miki had called me late last night, God I was so worried about you." She let go of Maddie. "You shouldn't have been, actually thought you had more to do with Connor." "Oh yeah, just the two of us had been talking a little."

Abby seemed to be uncomfortable talking about the whole thing, which made Maddie look like she had broken up, which would be weird, but she didn't want to bring it up directly. Abby grabbed her hair once and exhaled a breath, still exhausted for a moment. "Well, you're fine, that's the main thing, and Koji?" "Yeah he's fine too, I just wish I had held back." "It's not like you could help it, you weren't having the best day after what happened with Ben."

"I guess that's it." Maddie gave her half lie. Abby looked at her watch, it was close to the start of class, most people were already going to their classes and there was no Connor or Nick waiting for them.

The mood between the two became a bit awkward as Abby made direct eye contact with Maddie in a strange way Madison hadn't seen from her before, a bit like a hypnosis of sorts. Very briefly, Abby had to redden before she shook her head briefly and refocused. "Oh, um, better get to class." "Okay."

On the way there, neither of them said a word, with a cold breeze hitting them both. Maddie looked out over the bay, something was in the air calling to her.

As she walked into the school, someone tapped her on the back. Maddie flinched very briefly from the tension it had built up inside her, but relaxed when she saw it was Josh.
"Oh hi Josh, what's up?" Abby looked behind her for a moment and then made her way to class, leaving the two of them alone for a moment.

Maddie noticed that he seemed quite nervous, his face was slightly red and he pulled on his pants while avoiding direct eye contact. Josh swallowed and took a breath before speaking, "I-I-I just wanted to thank you and Abby for helping me yesterday. " "No problem, we wouldn't have done anything else." "I just thought you guys didn't like me." "What makes you think that?" Maddie asked, puzzled. "Well. Almost no one talks to me, not even you guys." "Naw, Josh, that doesn't mean nobody likes you, I have a hard time with people too." "But you never seem like that when you talk to anyone." "Well, I really only talk to Abby and Nick, Nick is one of my best friends, Abby is a sister to me."

Maddie grabbed her neck in embarrassment, thinking. "Maybe we can be friends." She said to him. Josh looked at her a little puzzled and didn't really know what to say, in the end all he got was a sheepish "Really?"

"Yeah, I mean why not, do you, do you want to go somewhere for dinner after school?" "Yeah, yeah, sure." A little touched, Josh wiped a small tear from his face, as hard as he tried to hold it back. Maddie smiled and said, "Oh come here give me a hug big guy," and gave Josh a hug, his breath caught in his throat from the surprise, his face turned bright red, but she didn't see it.

After Maddie let go of him again, he stood there for a moment just wondering, looking off into space. "Well, see you later." Maddie said and walked out the door. "See you later." Murmured Josh.

As usual, Maddie was bored in class. The material was written tediously and it felt as if the teacher sometimes digressed from the topic to drag it out, they now had two lessons with her and had only just reached the halfway point, after all, it was soon over with school again, the whole day Maddie had felt a little sick and had sometimes trembled a little, but did not tell Abby or call Miki, she did not dare to burden the others with her problem, especially after yesterday it was already enough.

She actually just wanted to go home and then lie down on the couch again. It was over early today, at 2 pm. Connor hadn't shown up for class today Abby said she had gone ahead because Connor was still asleep. Ben and his friends weren't there either, only the girls from yesterday had shown up and Maddie had seen one of them give her a rather venomous look. But she couldn't care less, she was too nervous anyway to bother with that.

Maddie rested her arms and head on the table and closed her eyes to get some sleep, maybe just a few minutes before the teacher would notice.

Relatively quickly she managed to fall asleep and was already dozing around in her dreams. Instinctively she tried to contact Godzilla, without success, he was awake wherever he was. Instead, something else appeared for her.

Maddie heard thunder, as if a storm was coming up, but she couldn't see anything, everything was dark and no movement could be felt from her. This storm came closer and closer, a cold wind came up, Maddie got scared, scared, which she had only experienced once before. She tried not to even think about it, she wanted to avoid further visions.

Then it flashed brightly for a moment, then it was dark again, then bright again, then dark again. Until Madison saw a black hand, which gave off yellow sparks from above, crashing down on her.

Madison screamed and jumped backwards, kicking over the table in front of her and toppling over in her chair. She was back in the classroom and everyone was staring at her, most of them a little confused, while a few girls were laughing. Abby had already run to her and rushed to help her. She held Madison's hand and helped her stand up, making sure she was okay.

The teacher looked at Madison, a little confused and angry at the same time for the interruption, and wanted to say something, but then the sound of the school bell came from the hallway and the class was over.

Everyone got up and grabbed their things while Abby and Madison made it outside in a hurry, at the hallway Abby confronted them.

"Maddie what happened? First this yesterday with Ben and Koji, now all of a sudden this? What's going on with you?" "I don't know I feel out of it and out of control and out of balance to be honest everything feels out of balance right now. When I fell asleep last night I had a dream like that too that made me feel that way." Abby sighed in frustration. "Girl you can give one stress sometimes." "Oh sorry me and a titan contact and inherited their powers." Maddie looked around, not anyone might overhear. In the hallway they had a bit of a head start on the others that they had gotten out of class early.

"I know Maddie, but didn't you want to join me and Miki so you could have a normal life?" "Like that's normal how we live, none of us are from New York nor had a normal life before, what else but the Titans do we know." Abby looked at Madison rejection full and angry. "How can you say that after Miki always wants the best for us and to protect us." Protect, what she had actually promised to Abby and Miki as well.

Just before exiting, Madison stopped short and grabbed her head, shaking and muttering "I'm sorry. " "Maddie?" Abby ran to her again, "Maddie can you hear me." "What?" she shook her head, trying to collect herself. Abby grabbed her hands and felt how cold they were. "Maddie, are you okay, you look all scared?" She said nothing and hugged Abby who in turn sensed that Madison was upset, she was not okay, it was all a little too much for her, even though Madison always pretended she was over Boston and Skull Island, she never really was.

Just then she remembered the moment when she saw Aaron dying in front of her and uttered his last words to her. She wanted to protect people, but could not.

Abby noticed that Maddie was starting to sob and stroked her head. "It's okay, I'm sorry, I should have watched what I was saying." "No, I'm sorry." Said Maddie to her. For a few minutes the two stood there and Abby tried to calm Madison down and she didn't care at all what people thought they saw as they walked by. Maddie let go of her and wiped the tears from her face and took a deep breath, feeling a little better again.

"Are you feeling better Maddie love?" "Y-yes. Abby I have a question." "Tell me." Carefully Maddie looked around that no one was listening and watching them. By now most everyone had walked past them and out of the school.

"Do you think I am a human or a monster?" "I think you are a good person, no matter who or what you want to be or are, I accepted you as you are, you are my and Miki's friend and there we can not care. "

Maddie smiled and she did it honestly, no pretense to reassure Abby, no Madison was just happy to hear those words and so was Abby who was also happy to see her feeling better, if there was one thing she hated it was seeing Madison unhappy.

"Alright let's go, the sooner we get to Miki the better." "Sounds good to me." Said Maddie.

Abby held the door open for her on the way out and as they did they started talking a bit, Abby tried to deflect the subject and asked how Rex was doing since she had left him alone one night now.

"I hope he wasn't too ornery, you know how he can be when I'm not around." "No he was quite tame yesterday, even came to me on the couch to be petted." "He seems to like you." "I don't know if that's the case with lizards." "Hey, you have Godzilla to prove it." "Godzilla is not a lizard."

Snapped Maddie at Abby, she just had to giggle a little, she knew Madison hated calling Godzilla that. "Well, but maybe he'll recognize you as the same as the other Titans, we did find Rex next to them, would make sense to me." "You got that right."

Maddie thought back to Mark's lecture, where she was even allowed to participate after she came back, where she could even say something. It was about the fact that creatures that are directly exposed to the Titans or are exposed to them more often understand their signals and calls on an instinctive level, even if they themselves may not have the same communication or were not Titans themselves.

When Godzilla defeated the Alpha Skull Crawler, some of the creatures around them bowed, even the Iwis. Only she didn't, she was the only one still standing to watch.

Although their story was not entirely believed under Monarch, at least some of their observations were taken seriously and in fact an expedition was sent to Skull Island to rebuild an outpost and set up cameras as well as sensors.

Apparently the outpost was pretty sure of what they had heard, Monarch was much more prepared this time and Godzilla had at least managed to clear a bit of a path for them. And a contact with the Iwi village was set up, as was the discovery of the Alpha Skull Crawler carcass and, after Madison described the location, the remains of Megaguirus and her larvae.

But of all the Titans they found, Kong was missing, the Iwis said he was severely weakened after a fierce battle against the Skull Crawlers. Perhaps he had even gone down into their holes, the entrances to the Hollow Earth, and remained there to heal.

Deep in thought, she didn't notice Abby calling out to her, too late to react, something cold and hard hit her in the head. She became dizzy, her vision diminished and she felt her body slump to the ground. She caught herself with her arms and powered through, looking at the pebbled floor of the schoolyard in front of her, blinking once she thought she could briefly see the lush grass of Skull Island in front of her.

She heard a commotion next to her, followed by another blow to her back, facing sideways she lay on her stomach and watched as a shoe pushed just in front of her face. "Ben are you insane stop it." She heard Abby yell.

She felt someone push her aside and lay her on her back. She still needed to recover from the blow, it felt cold on the back of her head. Above her she saw Ben looking down at her, he had put his foot on her chest and was pushing down a bit, then put a metal baseball bat against her face.

"Your mother put us all in this shitty position and you're still for those critters? Everyone knows who woke the monsters up and then you still show your face in public?"

Ben looked around, all eyes were on him. Madison thought about how he could know, and she had a hunch. Emma's release of the Titans had been announced to protect Monarch, but Madison had been promised not to make any direct connections with her in public. But someone knew, Connor, probably Ben had threatened Connor with blackmail or something similar today and spilled the tea, he knew who she was after last night and Ben had probably just put two and two together.

She could see into his face, he still had the bandage she had given him from yesterday, he tried to cover it with a mask, but you could still see it. Maddie grinned at him, she would not suffer for him.

"I hope you don't miss your mother too much."

He seemed to get angrier and lunged with the bat, her head was his target. But then she heard Abby scream, Maddie looked to the side, struggled to get away from Jacob who tried to hold her back and threw herself at Ben, knocking him over before he hit her with the bat.

Maddie couldn't get up, her head injury made her weak, she was bleeding, she could feel it in her neck. She had to watch as Abby struggled with Ben she tried to reach out her left hand but Jacob stepped on her arm and pushed it to the floor, she felt veins and muscles pulling and the shoe scraping her skin slightly, she groaned in pain, she tried to get his foot off her, some strength returned. She grabbed his leg with her right hand and pulled on it, but kicked her against the head, immediately she had to grab her head in pain, it had gotten worse. Now in a panic, without enough strength, she looked around frantically as other students watched from a distance, they did not dare to intervene, perhaps because they were shocked or did not dare because of Jacob's bat.

Maddie saw Abby fighting him, but he rolled over Abby as he took a few punches and saw him push her to the ground, his foot on her shoulder, gasping with the bat in his right hand.

Abby had tears on her face, from anger and fear.

Maddie felt something inside her, she knew this feeling, this situation, she had been here before.

"Never again." She whispered. In the background she heard the voices of Nick and Connor, who seemed to have just come from the school building. But they wouldn't get to her in time; Maddie already saw Ben preparing to strike.

She released the energy into her body, hers showed her other side, now it was no longer important if it was a secret. Everything had now become indifferent to her, she saw someone who meant something to her in danger, for this she would risk everything.

Jacob had turned his look to Ben who was preparing to lash out at Abby, a bright blue light suddenly came from under him, he looked down in confusion as it pulled him off his feet all at once, with his head falling to the ground, at first he was annoyed and groaned at the pain, but shortly after he could be heard yelling out in panic. "What the hell!?"

Ben heard his buddies yell out and snapped his head to the side, an overwhelming sense of dread coming over him, his heart starting to pound furiously, his eyes widening as sweat ran down his voice.

Maddie stood over Jacob, her hair and eyes glowing a bright blue, her face drawn with such fury it was downright frightening. Lights formed into a shape on her back. Abby already knew this, it must be her wings she thought at first, but then she recognized the shape, it was Godzilla's back plates. The lights formed their down her back until they formed a tail like Godzilla's, the whole thing was transparent and had no solid physical form. Neither Abby nor anyone else had seen Maddie in this form, what she could do with it was not foreseeable.

Jacob scrambled up and stood face to face with Maddie, behind him was the concrete barrier of the school. Her fists were clenching, she was baring her teeth. Out of panic he held up both his fists, he was totally shaking and still wanted to try to fight her like that, naive to think he could scare her off like that.
But she was obsessed with rage, never before had she felt such a level of rage, even when she used her powers, even when she had to fight monsters, nothing else was in her head right now. Her body was pumping her full of adrenaline, her reflexes and reaction time were at their peak.

Panicked Jacob lashed out at her, she just stood there he didn't think she would dodge so easily at that distance, but half a meter before he hit her face she grabbed his arm, he yelled, partly in pain as she pressed on and also out of pure fear. With her second hand she grabbed his shoulder and pulled, spinning him once in a circle like a toddler spinning a doll, even though he was barely a head taller than her. After a spin, she threw him back-first against the concrete barrier, and he yelped in pain and rolled across the floor. Nothing was broken, which was more or less lucky since Madison didn't throw him too hard, but it still hurt like hell.

Madison was furious, her monster side had awakened in her, she struggled to keep control of it as her plates of light pulsed back and forth. She turned to Ben who was almost pissed off with fear and took a step backwards. Madison her fists as her body shook, she took a step forward, Ben took another back and let go of Abby.

Madison's back lit up pulsating again, she took another step, Ben took another step back and grabbed his baseball bat as tight as he could, Maddie was now standing in front of Abby. She took a step over her and stood in front of her in a protective stance, Ben was now just under 4 feet in front of her shaking like a scaredy cat with his baseball bat ready to defend himself just somehow. He would like to run, but he had no chance to escape, he was much slower than Madison, he already knew that.

Madison looked down behind her at Abby, she was fine but suffering from great shock. Maddie closed her eyes and turned to Ben.
Once she took a deep breath her light pulsed once again, Ben gave up and tried to go at her with the bat he could no longer think rationally. Maddie snapped her eyes open, now glowing a dark blue. She jumped forward and kicked Ben in the stomach with her right foot and ripped the bat out of his hand, he coughed up a drop of blood as all the air was pushed out of his lungs and fell to the ground, down he grabbed his chest and breathed in and out frantically.

Madison meanwhile bent the baseball bat in half with only a slight effort.
However, she was slowly losing control and strength over her body, her heartbeat was so strong she could feel it in her veins in her arms, this form was straining her, but her anger was driving her on.

As she walks towards Ben he sat up straight and panicked backwards trying to push himself away from her with his legs, but with a mighty stomp she nails his leg to the floor with her right foot, he cries out and tried to pull himself free further away, but Madison grabs him by the collar and pulled herself up to him.

She lashed out with her fist and hit him, his collar snapped and his head hit the ground with high force, but not as hard as he hit Maddie with the bat, there was no blood coming from his head. She fought with herself not to hurt him dangerously, but her anger pushed her further forward and slowly her limit burst as she began to feel weaker, clear thinking was no longer possible for her. She struck against his face. Then again and then again and then against his chest. Each blow stronger than the last, he didn't even have the chance to protect himself properly with his arms.

Abby stood up and saw her friend beating the living daylights out of Ben, she almost didn't recognize her. But she would not run away from her because Maddie would not do it either.

"Maddie, stop!" She screamed before anything worse happened. The words echoed through the schoolyard and for a moment it seemed as if time had stopped.

Maddie had stopped hitting Ben, was just standing over him and was frozen in place, but still had her arm out. Ben had narrowed his eyes and looked to the side, but carefully turned his face up to Madison.

She was panting, her hair and eyes still glowing a bright blue, her whole body shaking with emotion, the effort in her to get herself back under control.

Maddie looked over at her friend, who stood next to her and held out her hand. "Please Maddie, calm down." She said gently. Looking into her eyes, Maddie had tears in her eyes that slowly dripped down her cheeks onto the floor. Her Godzilla-like back plates disappeared and dissolved, her eyes and hair also left their blue state and returned to their normal color.

Angry at herself, she wiped away her tears and looked back down at Ben, and before he could utter a single word, Maddie knocked him out. He wasn't dead, just unconscious for now.

Maddie stood up and took two steps toward Abby before giving one last pulse of her energy through her body, collapsing and crashing only moments later.
