The dance. Jaune was in a suit, and Scáthach was in a beautiful purple dress. Ruby, Blake, Pyrrha, Ren, Nora, and Haruhime waited for Jaune and Scáthach. Once the two arrived, they headed to the ballroom, where Yang and Weiss were.
Inside the ballroom, streamers are hung through glass chandeliers, pink and blue balloons are everywhere, and students in dark suits and bright dresses are stepping with each other to the music between the white-clothed tables.
"Soooo," Ruby said. "What do we do now?".
"Go and have fun," Yang said. "I know I will".
When Jaune and Scáthach entered the ballroom, all eyes were on them. No one has ever seen Scáthach before, except for Ozpin and Glynda. Qrow, another person aware of Scáthach, was not in the room since he was out with his family.
After a while, Jaune headed to the drink area, and he saw Ruby.
"Are you okay, Ruby?" Jaune asked. "are you not having fun?".
"Oh, no, everything's fine!" Ruby said. "I'm just not much of a fancy pantsy... dancey girl".
"How about I show you how to dance after my dance with Scáthach?" Jaune said. "I can show you how fun dancing can be".
"You don't need to do that," Ruby said. "Like I said, I'm not a dancey kind of girl".
"Please?" Jaune said. "I promise you'll enjoy it".
"Fine! But only one dance," Ruby said. "You'll see why I'm not a dancey kind of girl. I'll probably set on your foot a few dozen times".
"Pfft! That's fine," Jaune said. "I'm used to it. Some of my younger sisters used to step on my foot a lot, and dancing had nothing to do with it".
"Huh? Then how are they stepping on you?" Ruby asked. "Did you do something that annoyed them enough to step on you on purpose?".
"Nothing like that," Jaune said. "My younger sister just didn't know the concept of personal space. They would stick to me all day long, close enough to step on my foot".
"Are you sure they aren't doing it on purpose?" Ruby said. "Pfft! I remember when I was younger, I would step on Yang's foot for eating my cookies".
"Anyways," Jaune said. "I'm going to talk to the DJ about changing the music to something more fast-paced".
Jaune did as he said, and the music changed. Everyone was not expecting the change of tone on the dance floor. Hence they left since they didn't know how to dance to the music. Jaune, however, brought his hand out towards Scáthach, and she took his hand. They then both went to the dance floor.
Salsa, that's the type of dance Jaune and Scáthach was performing. Although Scáthach knew nothing of Salsa, Jaune taught her basic moves enough to have fun. The dance of Jaune and Scáthach was intriguing to the eyes of the audience. They danced with the theme you want me but can't have me.
Scáthach was smiling and having fun throughout the performance, albeit she wasn't aware. But Jaune noticed. So, he increased the pace of the dance a bit. At the end of the dance, Jaune and Scáthach received massive applause from the people.
After dancing with Scáthach, Jaune rested before asking Haruhime if she wanted to dance. She blushed and took Jaune's hand, and they went to the dance floor. This time, instead of Salsa, Jaune and Haruhime performed Tango. It was slower paced compared to Salsa, but it was still fun for Haruhime, just being close by to Jaune was enough for her.
Next was Ruby. Jaune knew that Ruby was not into dancing. However, Jaune believes that Swing dancing may spark an interest in dancing. Before they got on stage, Jaune showed Ruby a few movement sets. It was simply moving of the hips. Once on the dance floor, Jaune guided Ruby, and they had fun. Sadly, Ruby still took no interest in dancing. Although, she said she would love to dance with Jaune some other time.
When a certain music played, Nora became excited.
"It is happening!" Nora said. She then pulled Ren. "Come on, Ren".
"What's happening?" Ren asked. Then he remembered. "Right, that".
Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren and Nora took the stage and did the choreographed dance routine that they practised for a week. Everyone watched the dancing and were having fun. In the corner of the ballroom, Jaune saw Weiss moping a bit. So, he decided to go to her and ask her for a dance. Weiss agreed, and they performed a Waltz.
While everyone was having fun in the ballroom, Cinder was headed to the CCTS. She dodged all the guards she could. However, when she got in, she was met with two guards. She had to knock them out. When done, another two guards arrived from the elevator that she was going to use to get to the top. She knocked them out as well.
Once on the top of the CCTS, Cinder inserted a device onto the terminal. She then received a call from one of her minions.
"One of our guests is leaving," Emerald said. "He seemed to have enough of the party".
"Which one?" Cinder said. "Is it Goodwitch?".
"Ironwood," Emerald said. "Should we intervene?".
"No need," Cinder said. "I'm almost done here".
While uploading the file to the terminal, Cinder fumed in rage due to the message she got from the terminal. The virus was purged successfully. Even the original file on the scroll was deleted. Cinder was angry since the programme created by Watts was a flop.
"I'm going to kill that mustachio bastard!" Cinder cursed. "He guaranteed that the program would work! Yet, it's not!".
"It seems like I need to contact the mistress about this mishap," Cinder said. She then smirked. Cinder always hated Arthur Watts. "This mission's failure would be on his hand. I'd like to see how he handles the mistress' anger".
Cinder then left the CCTS. No one knew of her presence there. Or she thought. Jaune's security that he placed when he hacked the CCTS has used the camera around to video the entire thing and sent it to the administrator, who happens to be Glynda and Ozpin. Unfortunately, the cameras did not have a mic. Therefore, no one could identify who the disguised Cinder was talking to.
Ozpin, Glynda, Ironwood and Qrow were in Ozpin's office the following day. They watched the footage for the fifth time now.
"They were here..." Ironwood complained. "Ozpin, they were here!".
"We're very much aware of that! Thank you, James," Glynda said. "Shouting wouldn't do us any good".
"Fantastic!" Ironwood said sarcastically. "You're aware! Now, are we going to do something about it? Or should we just stay the course and continue to ignore what's right in front of us?! For Oum's sake, someone was able to hack the CCTS and strengthen the system! If it was not for the increase in security, that infiltrator would have access to the entire system".
"There is nothing we can do right now," "Glynda said. "We don't have any course of action".
"You know, I heard rumours of suspicious people in Mt Glenn," Qrow said. "Maybe that's a clue. Maybe it's not".
"What does that have to do with this?" Ironwood asked. "We are talking about people that want to destroy the world".
"Hey, I just suggested checking it out since we have nothing," Qrow said. "How about you? Do you have anything? Besides shouting".
"Qrow is right, James," Ozpin said. "We have nothing, and suspicious movement in Mt Glenn might result in something, or it might not. But it is all we have".
"Well then," Ironwood said. "We send as many troops as we can to the southeast, find out exactly what's going on, and eradicate any forces that stand in our way".
"Why must your answer to everything involve a triumphant display of military bravado!?" Glynda said with annoyance. "You treat every situation like it's a contest of measuring di...!".
"Glynda!" Ozpin stopped Glynda.
"Well, he does," Glynda said. She then murmured. "Probably because he has a small one".
"Glynda's right," Ozpin said. "As much as I too would love to end this situation once and for all. We must remember that this may go beyond Vale. Beyond Beacon. And if this truly is part of some master plan for which we know not the final move, we mustn't be so bold. Nor can we risk the spread of panic".
Glynda raised an eyebrow when Ozpin said the words 'Glynda is right'. She thought Ozpin agreed to the words she murmured. But realised her mistake when Ozpin continued speaking.
"From the looks of it, you already have a plan," Ironwood said. "Who is it that you're sending to Mt Glenn? Qrow? One of your professors?".
"Qrow and one of my students," Ozpin said. "I say student very loosely since I doubt there is anything Beacon could teach him".
"Are you serious?" Ironwood said. "You're going to send a student?".
"Student he may be," Ozpin said. "However, he is far more capable than any of us. Plus, he has a powerful woman with him".
"You're serious?" Ironwood asked. Ozpin nodded. "I have served you faithfully for years... but if you mean to tell me that your plan is to send a kid to a possible hideout, I think you've become unhinged".
"He hasn't," Glynda said. "The student we are sending is special".
"No matter how special," Ironwood said. "He is still no more than a student".
Qrow, Glynda and Ozpin shook their head to the words of Ironwood. They would have been able to clear up the misunderstanding, but they decide this is better as they knew Ironwood would take things out of proportion when he finds out Jaune can use magic.
