Prologue

After stuffing himself with so much food, Jim decided it was a good time to call it a night. He had a really good time with Chris and her family. So much so, he actually didn't regret missing his date. At first he felt kinda bad for the chick after he texted her he would miss the date, since it was her last day in LA, but now he thanked Hondo for insisting. It was a great idea! Chris' family is so nice, besides the usual comments about them hooking up and becoming a couple, which he appreciated a lot even if it annoyed her. He kinda wished he had a family like that, it would sure fill him up to have people like them in his life. Maybe one day...maybe...

He totally forgot he had placed his phone in vibrate, since Chris had insisted in him joining the different groups and to socialize. He didn't have much of a choice! Matter of fact, she herself grabbed his phone and silenced it. He felt annoyed at first, but then actually thanked her for that. He had a blast with everyone, even with her little cousins who drove him crazy to join them to play lots of games.

Four hours later, the family began gathering everything and closing down the truck. He helped with the cleaning and trash collecting, until the area was spotless.

"Good night!" he called as he waved good bye. He was headed for his bike, when he felt running behind him

"Hey Jim, wait up!" Chris called approaching. She stopped in front of him as he placed his helmet on, "Did you have a good time?"

"Yeah, I told you!" he said as he glanced at her, "You have an amazing family, Chris!"

"Awww, that's sweet." she said as she turned for a quick look of her people, "Thanks! See you at work tomorrow?"

"Of course!" he said

She offered her fist, and they completed the gesture. As he gazed at her while she made her way back to her family, he suddenly felt his phone on his pocket. He had totally forgot about it, then again it wasn't as if a lot of people would call anyway!

He took his phone out of his pocket and couldn't believe how many notifications he had.

"Oh my God!" he said surprised. More than 15 calls, 10 texts, 20 notifs from social media. All from the same user and contact: Kimberly.

Wonder if something happened...She could be in danger! thought Street as he panicked. He dialed her phone, and was surprised she answered so quickly.

"Hey, are you okay? Just noticed your calls and texts" he asked quickly, still concerned

"Yes..did you enjoy it with her family?" she asked angrily

Huh? What? How did she know?

"Uum...what?" he asked confused

"You thought I wouldn't notice you all dressed up to meet that cop lady's family? What was her name-um..." she paused to think, "Oh yeah, Christina 'Chris' Alonso. Lives next to Washington Square, apartment building down the block, first woman to make it into SWAT int he last decade or so, with family Sarzo, Helena, Thomas and three other cousins."

Oh my God!

"How did you-"

"I know where you've been and who frequents around my guy!"

Your what?

"Um..listen Kimmy, I-"

"Shhh, you just be quiet, baby! It's okay. I'm not mad at all." she said slowly, "Just stop by a store, get me some flowers and I can fix you up for a nice night in."

A what?

"You don't have to worry about that tramp, ever! You already took one for the team..now you're all good! I can have you forever!" she said excitingly

Forever?
